What an utter disappointment. At the end of past year, this was a vibrant place with really tasty food. Tonight was my last night for sure. Yet again, they didnt have the food on the menu and then the chef decided not to do tapas. With little choice, I had the Grounded special pizza which was the most unappetising circle of raw garlic and bits thrwn on top, with little love. So awful, I've just come home and put my fingers down my throat because I felt ill. Its better in the pan which is where I think the chefs love of their job is too. Unfortunately, stay away from this place until they turn around their staff. Front of house staff, lovely, polite and smiling, probably because they're leaving a sinking ship too. Bring back the Grounded it used to be.

Partial good service, average food. Atmosphere was poor, we were the only people in there by 9 o’clock on a Friday evening. I won’t be returning.

I’ve been going to this Grounded for about 10 years. It’s definitely going down hill. There was a strong scent of drains and I noticed there was a lot of plug in type scents dotted around the place, clearly trying to mask the smell. The toilet was dirty and the floor was very wet. There is one very loud member of staff who I could hear swearing. Every time I have been recently, she’s so loud it’s actually distracting! I really hope things look up as it’s been my ‘local go to’ for years

My expectations were a bit too high. My baked potato was more waxy than fluffy so I won't order that again. The waitress was very nice and sympathetic when she learnt that the incorrect topping had been ordered for me. Better luck next time, eh?

Totally brilliant! Food, wines, service and music all really good and really good value for money. They deserve to be full every evening.

This is a home from home, a cosy cafe with a welcoming community feel. They always play good music and the food is consistently tasty. The staff are so friendly and Gianpy is always beaming even over the busy lunchtimes! Really nice little courtyard garden too.

I have been coming to Grounded once or twice weekly for over a year, I live locally and it has always been a lovely spot for a coffee and to get a couple of hours of work done outside of the house. I always leave at lunch time when it gets busy or when all the tables are full. I visited this week and the lady serving was extremely rude, there were lots of spare tables and I was first asked to move and then told that I couldn’t stay with my laptop. I understand this policy when the cafe is busy, but it wasn’t even half full at this point. I am a regular and have spent a lot of money here in the last year and was shocked at how I was treated during this visit. I suggest some common sense on this!

Very rude lady staffing the till. The food felt like it was bought in frozen and reheated. We used to go in quite often as a treat for breakfast but not anymore

First time we have eaten here and the food was very good. Very tasty steak burger and fried chicken. Heavy rock music a little loud but it didn't detract from an enjoyable meal.

Second time here and enjoyed it again. Had the rocket pizza which you could have with a side salad or garlic bread. Very filling and good value for money. Had to take home what we couldn't eat. Good service. Great local eatery.

I stopped going to Grounded as the food got so aweful and place was always so dirty. My boy wanted to go for breakfast then st georges park. Again i dont know why i gave it another chance, firstly still dirty, cash only really its 2019. Food sub standard, toast cold and for some reason had been done in a sandwich toaster, mushrooms almost raw, and half tomato had been shown the grill ( raw).No point in complaining as ive done that before and left other reviews. Nothing has been done.A place that is surviving on past glories.When it first opened Grounded was amazing. This is the last time i ever go here. In a market saturated with food and coffee outlets there are better places to go.Such a shame.

We’ve eaten here five or six times in the past year, and on each visit the food and service has got worse. The food is low quality: cheap sliced bread, economy meat, anaemic eggs etc and is not worth the cost. The staff are slow and rude, particularly the ones that take the bar orders. We think we’ve tried it enough, so won’t be returning!

Me mudé a Bristol hace 12 años y siempre pasé por este lugar sin pensar mucho en eso, fui a almorzar con mi esposo y qué sorpresa tan agradable, limpio y amable tenía una hamburguesa de ternera brillante con ensalada y papas fritas una gran porción también. Estaba delicioso, nunca juzgues un libro por su portada como dicen, lo recomiendo altamente.

First visit and loved it. Nice decor and food is delicious. Had pizzas, chips and salad. Very generous portions and we were stuffed and had to take some of the pizza home. Great range of veggie and vegan food which is good as my son and friend are both vegan. Good service and reasonably priced. Can't wait to go there again.

I always enjoy the food in Grounded, at the moment its 2 for 1 pizzas which is great. I love the lasagne and if you just want to pop in for a coffee and a cake the chocolate brownies are to die for. The staff are always really friendly too.

Cafe Grounded would be just about OK, were it not for the complete lack of enthusiasm from the staff. On arrival last night, purchased some drinks, including a bottle of wine, to be told that there were only 3 wine glasses left... Then, at 2140 (the advertised closing time is 2230), we discussed having coffee after our meal, to be told, "The coffee machine is off." This was followed by a lot of crashing around as the staff cleared up, making it pretty obvious that we were expected to depart. Clearly, there is a need for more competition on Church Road; as it is, the Cafe Grounded staff appear to have little incentive to provide even moderately acceptable customer service.

Go there for occasional coffee/meeting and have also stopped by as a non customer a couple times to access restroom and staff were more than gracious to permit use.

Went here for Dinner with some friends last Saturday night. I don't know if they were short staffed, had covering staff or it was just one of those days. Ordering took ages (at the till) and then was told our choices were unavailable also had the same issue with drinks - took 3 attempts to find something in stock. These things happen no big deal. However, the girl serving us seemed to be left on her own entirely. Whilst ordering I was interrupted by a man who said half his food was missing and another who said the wine he was drinking was off, i heard her say she had to get her manager (who it turned out was sat behind the queue). When dinner arrived there was at least a 10 minute wait between our friends getting their food and us getting ours, which wouldn't have been so bad if the table who ordered after us hadn't had theirs in between us. The one thing that was really disappointing though, was that at 10.15 a guy came out from the kitchen and proceeded to shout at us 'GUYS just so you know we are closed now yeah'. Wouldn't have been so bad but we thought they were open until 11 and weren't told any different when when we go another round of drinks not much before! All in all a so-so experience, not really in a rush to go back.

Creo que tienes un nervio poniendo un logo deshabilitado en la puerta. Los baños son desaliñados

Como sugiere el título, realmente no sé por qué tienen tan mala reputación. Apareció a las 3 pm para un almuerzo tardío. Elegimos compartir una pizza, una ensalada y un par de ensaladas. Y realmente quedé impresionado con la comida. Fue sabroso y llegó muy rápido. El servicio que recibimos fue amistoso. Ahora, creo que cobran demasiado por una cafetería / restaurante que no sirve mesa. Por los precios, esperaría mucho más de una experiencia gastronómica. Todo en el menú debe ser aproximadamente 2 menos, O invertir en algunos miembros del personal y realmente sorprender al cliente. Realmente creo que es por eso que tienen mala prensa, la gente espera mucho más de ellos. Como era de esperar ¿Volvería? sí. Realmente disfruté la comida.

Comimos aquí en una tarde calurosa después de un día abrasador pelando el papel pintado. Steamy por dentro y por fuera. Eligió una pizza Sgt Pepperoni regada con una botella de Malbec. La pizza era genial, caliente y con buen sabor, pero también lo era el Malbec, ¡por desgracia! Nos hubiéramos quejado pero parecía que todas las botellas estaban almacenadas en un área caliente. Mi compañero tenía una ensalada de remolacha que tenía demasiado balsámico. Ojalá hubiera elegido apio y nuez. Otros eligieron hamburguesas de carne y disfrutaron. El ambiente, estábamos fuera, estaba bien, pero supongo que estábamos un poco decepcionados en general.

Rude staff crap food over priced wouldn’t bother been here before thought I would give it another go waste of time rather spend my money somewhere else

Well good start they got my coffee order wrong, probably a language issue non English speaking lets say, then the coffee finally came and it was warm at best, on top of that so noisy mum kids running around like a playgroup not a coffee shop no control whatsoever

If you're planning on going in here on a quiet afternoon forget it.. Kids running amok staff hardly on happy pills either top it off Expensive coffee one to forget in my opinion

I visited a few months ago with 2 friends and we were shocked to find the couple at the next table had their dog with them. One of my friends has had a bad past experience with dogs and was shaken when the dog started barking at her. I have allergies to dogs hair and really didn't want to dine with one. We tried to move but no other seats and when we spoke to the staff, we were told it's a dog friendly place which is fine but that should be made more clear by having a sign on the entrance door. I don't recommend to anyone as apart from the wildlife the place does need a good clean and staff need a visit to finishing school.

Not a bad spot for dinner. We were a group of six and everyone enjoyed their meal. Prices seemed very reasonable to me. I found it odd that you had to order at the counter and pay first but not a big deal.

I came in with my partner for breakfast, and the Benedict eggs are wonderful. The sauce really tasty and was nice and hot when it got to the table.

I have read some terrible reviews on here for this place but luckily I didn't encounter any of these problems. The place was packed, the Italian potatoes with kale and poached eggs were really good and my colleague's lasagne looked great too. Flat white was strong and tasty, service was prompt and polite, I'd go back in a shot.

I've been here a few times now, alone and with my partner. We enjoy the cosy, relaxed and welcome feeling of which is priceless ( near by rivals haven't quite grasped this so well done grounded).

Este lugar necesita un buen apretón, sucia, muebles rotos, muebles de jardín sucia con barato inestable; música tan alta que no puedo mantener una conversación sin tener que gritar a otros; comida cara. Personal podría hacer con algunos hospitalidad/habilidades sociales capacitación también, miserable, grosero, siga la conversación entre sí sin reconocer que están esperando a ser servido. Juguetes para niños de seguridad es simplemente una colección de pedazos de plástico Sucio, inmundo, necesita ser tirado. Para ser sincero, creo que a Tierra ha tenido su día en Redfield, un montón de competencia en el área. No vas a pasar más de mi dinero ganado duro allí pronto.

Fue genial para sentarse en un lugar guay relajado y tienen un par de bebidas refrescantes aún limonada.

El patio trasero es tan sucio, excrementos de aves por todos lados, el lado del edificio tiene basura por todas partes, incluyendo las pieles de plátano. El mobiliario es muy viejo y sucio y los ceniceros estaban llenos/desbordaban. Las mesas no eran estables para comer en ellos significaba casi por todas partes derramando bebidas. En verdad que es la última vez que visite este sitio. Si decides darle una oportunidad que iría en un momento de tranquilidad y sentarse en el interior. Una Iglesia crece con nuevas opciones de Rd este lugar tendrá que recoger su juego, su única falta de opciones que permitan sobrevivir.

Visitamos hoy miércoles 12 de abril, tenía un par de vasos de vino y un delicioso almuerzo (tuve patatas al horno dulce, mi amigo y yo pasamos hot dog vegetariano) tanto los platos estaban impecables en el final. Ensalada leaves​ era encantador y fresco y la presentación era perfecto. El personal era amable y el jardín es un gran lugar para tomar el sol.

We have visited grounded in st George/ Redfield several times. Today the bad attitude of the person in charge (woman with glasses)has now put us off visiting again. She was rude to the couple in front of us ( they walked out) & also to us too. Are basic manners too much to ask??As previous reviewers have also said, this woman needs some customer service training.The place also looks like it could do with a good clean & the children's toys were filthy.

Asked for gammon was told that was the 4pm after menu, even on a weekend they can not accommodate visitors so you have to have a burger or a salad poor choice of food.

I was there for enjoy a while with friends. At the beginning it was a excellent atmosphere and we enjoyed ours beverages choices. This is a great little cafe, a good local business, I've been coming here sins it first opened. The food is good and their drinks are to. The only down side is that their prices have gone up and their portions gave gone down a lot sins it first opened.

I popped in to my local Grounded in Redfield with my 10 year old daughter for breakfast. We waited patiently to be served as the lady behind the counter carried on sorting a few things out. I let someone go in front of me as we decided what on our choices. We approached the counter and placed our order and paid. The attitude of the lady was pretty damn rude. The way she approached other customers varied considerably from warm to not really giving much attention to the customers. I've been a customer of Grounded for around 9 years but today's experience has put me off going there for food again. It was as welcoming as a dose of the flu. Shame really as the breakfast and evenings are quite good. Like most people who work hard, it not a nice experience to be judged by someone who is happy to take my money but provide poor service. She asked others customers if they wanted sauces etc., but we didn't even get asked. My 10 year old even noticed how rude her attitude was. Will need to consider if I now go back but only when other staff are on duty.

having visited several times as we only live on challks road. ordered a sirloin steak for my husband medium to well done which came back very bloody so we sent it back. it came back five mins later only to be recooked so the rest of the food was cold. I told the waitress i thought this was disgusting and wasnt worth £14.95 and she said shed asked the chef to cook another steak and he said he wouldnt. absolutely apalling and didnt even get a reduction or refund so wont be visiting agian. I will defintely go to the Kingshead PUB where quality and atmosphere are paramount.

I only live a short distance up the road from Grounded and consequently I've been there several times. The food is always good and a choice of cakes is excellent. The service can be a little slow at busy times. I would say prices are a little on the higher side of average but the quality of the food is generally worth it. A couple of the tables are quite close to the toilets and not very pleasant to sit at. On a Friday and Saturday night you will certainly need to book. The biggest problem I have is a personal choice in that they have changed the menu and dropped my favourite pizza which was a bit of a blow. Overall I would recommend.

Great food, great atmosphere and lovely staff. This is a great place to come just for a coffee or an evening meal with friends/family. Good choice for Gluten and Dairy free. Vibrant place and highly recommended.

Lovely pizzas are a staple at Grounded. I just recently tried their Calzone which was excellent. I have tried a number of dishes from the menu and enjoyed them all. Maybe the menu could do with a refresh, or some 'specials' to keep you interested, but overall we really like the place. Also parking is easy in the car park at nearby St George park.This part of East Bristol is really on the up right now.

Grounded is my local cafe, and as such I regularly frequent the place. I've never been disappointed in the quality of food, drink or service!

My local grounded always a relaxing atmosphere, great place to go with my wife after a long day at work... would recommend the Pizzas... always good!

Came for lunch on a day off.Very varied menu with plenty of choices. Finally decided what to have, and was somewhat disappointed. The bruschetta tasted pretty plain, no heat and just a bit bland.The hot dog bun tasted dry which took away from the sausage, cheese and onions. My other half liked her eggs Benedict though! I want to give it another try to see if I just went on an off day...

Whilst I had been to this cafe on previous occasions for a coffee or light snack, this was the first time I'd tried one of their 'main' dishes. Glad to say I wasn't disappointed with the risotto being flavoursome, creamy but with just the right bite to the rice. Very well executed and better than many I've had from regular restaurants - risotto is a favourite dish for me. My daughter had a roasted Mediterranean salad which she also praised.Also being one of those few sunny days we've had recently it was nice to be able to take advantage of their outdoor seating - manages to get the sun even though tucked away at the back. Very relaxing.

The food is average, too expensive for what it is and the portions are not generous. The pizza is less then average and the free garlic bread is horrible, no wonder it's free. There is one toilet which is annoying and the noise just bounces off he walls, not a relaxing atmosphere.

We had good meal, the food was very good, fresh well cooked & presented, lively atmosphere fun place to eat. Good gluten free menu, the salad was a bit over done with rocket, base a great pile of leaves. The service was bit indifferent & not very welcoming, we were late 9:15 made to feel they'd rather we'd not come.

Not the best position, main road near busy traffic lights, felt cold and dark inside, we went onside where the wildlife was very friendly. Lots of birds pinching scraps. The major problem was the view overlooking the bins and a car wash. I had my usual alcoholic drink and was pleasantly surprised that the establishment actually sold real ale, mind you it was in one of those horrible pumps that thy just turn the key at the top like with lagers. They had various fizzy ciders (no still ones) and obviously a selection of cold and hot drinks. The food that I had was lovely, my daughters however had to be complained about, not something I have ever had to do before, but in fairness they did return her money for the dish. My son certainly cleared his plate so I assumed he enjoyed his as did my wife.

Popped in last night for a drink with friends as just moved to the area and been recommended to enjoy their sunny garden and take advantage of their pizza deal. excellent pizza, great tunes and friendly staff and cider on tap! Lovely will defiantly been spending more time here.

Just stopped in before a work course for a bacon sarnie and a cuppa both excellent. Definatly stop again.

I really want to write a glowing review, I really do. This is my local café, I'm loyal and I have been many times for lunch, dinner or just a few drinks; its a good versatile venue, and usually very good food. Sadly, however good the meals are I find the toilets are so awful I try and avoid using them (and rush home after). With 'The Lock Up' opening up opposite I really hope this makes Grounded raise their game. Going out for a good meal and having to use loos that smell like the public ones down the road is not in any way appealing. Come on guys please sort it out; I don't want to stop coming.

The second time in 10 days that grounded has been sub standard. Pizza too 50 minutes to arrive and consisted of 7 prawns.

Popped in here on Wednesday after work to meet a friend for a chat and quick bite to eat. It wasn't busy at all, nevertheless the service was incredibly slow with one girl behind the counter while another was sleeping on the sofa near the windows opposite a paying customer. .. We ordered different food - my friends arrived piping hot and within 10 minutes with no sign of mine - mine arrived 7-8 minutes later and was cold and poorly cooked - i'd tried the hot dog on recommendation from customers of Grounded in Fishponds. It was put together really poorly, the bacon was small and ROCK HARD (I threw it out) and the cheese wasn't melted at all when it should have been. Small portion of cold fries. In short it was appalling. The pizza another couple ordered looked good as always. A few more customers arrived when we were eating and as the tables as so close together had no privacy. We left shortly after as we could hear everyone's conversations around us, and no one had cleared our dirty plates (perhaps Sleeping Beauty should have woken up and done it. I was a regular customer of this place but I won't be going backto this branch any more - its definitely gone down hill, especially given the expense of the place.. Avoid this place and try the Lock Up opposite instead. Different food on offer but the service is impeccable, the food is piping hot and cooked to absolute perfection - plus the staff are friendly, attentive and awake. If you want a Grounded experience, i'd recommend the Fishponds one instead.

My boyfriend and I spent the lunchtime in this lovely place. The coffee shop is very nice with friendly staff and in the back there is a small garden where you can enjoy your food or coffee. Great food & drinks... but I was not very happy with the coffee, too watery and weak. I hope it will be better in the future as I would like to come back

This place has too many tables and seats squeezed into the space. Trying to find a table can be a nightmare as most people are dotted around taking up a table for 4 with only 2 people. So you will need to queue to wait for a seat, whilst blocking a queue of other patrons who are also in a (you got it) queue. Then when you finally sit down to read the menu you then need to queue to make the order.Then wait for quiet some time, until you get the food (some of which may be cold). So queue to give food back to be re heated. Once finished the under par and expensive portion of food you then must queue to pay. Bearing in mind everyone else is trying to do the same thing. The staff are running around like lunatics (I feel sorry for them as this is completely avoidable). If the place allowed you to sit, then came over and took your order, then bought the food to the table & then allowed the payment to be made at the table there would be no Great British Queue Off. However with all that said there are better cafes in the same road to go too than this. This place is also very very noisy and stressful to be in, it is also very over priced for what you get. One lady looks like she may murder you if you ask for something when you are not at the front of the queue so beware, if you fancy an overpriced stressful cafe experience wade on in ! Fun fun fun :)

This is my local cafe which I have visited on several occasions. It is obvious to me by the extensive menu that a lot of the food is frozen / brought in and the 'calamari' I ordered was clearly not hand made. The pizzas are however really nice - I think they need to down size the menu and stick to what they are good at.On a few occasions I have found the staff really unhelpful and rude... There seems to be a lack of customer service here and no apologies.Won't be back anytime soon unless I am really desperate for a coffee !

I was served stone cold fries with my admittedly delicious panini. No problem I thought just point it out to the serving staff. The response I got was rude and uncaring, at first trying to tell me that the fries were fine (my 20 years experience in catering begs to disagree) to be followed by a surly "well what do you want me to do about it?" Very disappointing. On a side note this company also seems to put junk mail through my door every few day, perhaps they should spend more on training the staff as no amount of advertising will induce me to return.
