Posting here as the cafe hadn’t the courtesy to respond to a private DM. We were extremely and genuinely disappointment with the cafe. We had booked for 10.15 online as it was latest slot available before the Brentford game.. I was bringing my three daughters (13, 12 & 10) to OT for the first time and this was a little pre game surprise. When we arrived the staff were a little at odds that we had a booking rather than being hotel guests but they found the booking and seated us. The table was sticky and we were then left for 15 minutes when we then had to ask to have our order taken. Very quickly we realised we caught the tail end of the hotel breakfast service rather than an actual cafe sitting. We got our food which was just ok. However before we had finished the breakfast buffet was being cleared. We had to get out of our seats and ask for ketchup and butter as the table was being ignored. One of my daughters went to get orange juice but it was gone with all the food that had been cleared. To top it all off we were charged €18 per head even though we just had mains off the menu and despite the buffet and drinks being cleared before we finished eating. My youngest daughter simply had 3 sausages and toast and was charged the full £18 which I feel is outrageous. We had one coffee and two glasses of apple juice between us all before the breakfast was cleared. All in all really disappointed. Just don’t take booking this early if it’s hotel guests breakfasts only. I would not recommend and advise anyone to avoid the morning of the game if not a hotel guest.

Tad bit expensive if you're looking for a pre match pint. Great variety of beers and grub however and if you're staying at the hotel better have a pint here because all the other boozers go a bit manic pre match.

Went here for a Birthday afternoon tea on 11.09.24 and have to say it was disappointing. Been to many and this was not more then 3 stars at best. Food we had 2 hot and 1 cold and none of us were impressed. The coffee was so strong we all had to ask for more milk to try and drink it, the sandwiches were like door stoppers nothing dainty in keeping with afternoon tea. We had the hot, the fish & chips were okay, the meat roll thing was very spicy and not so good and the beef in Yorkshire pudding was soggy 🙁 The cold one the cakes were good ( suspect they were bought in) and there was 1 very small scone which again (suspect bought in) The service was not so great as in previous venues and the ambience was like some cafe with no atmosphere. Would not return or recommend I'm afraid, maybe go see how the Midland and the Lowry do it, to see what customers expect 🤔

Fantastic place to visit before the game. The staff are friendly and accommodating. It is expensive but it’s next to the ground so it is expected. Sky sports news shown in the bar area. The only negative would be some of the supporters who seem to be regular visitors or staying in the hotel think they have the rights to tables / chairs that don’t have reserved signs ? Not sure if this a thing but was just an observation following our recent experience. Overall most people are friendly and chatty. Me & my son thoroughly enjoy visiting when we go to home matches.

Took my 12 year old nephew and his best friend. Travelled up from Leicester for the MUFC stadium tour, and booked into here for a convenient and close place to eat beforehand. We were not disappointed! The welcome was incredibly friendly, the setting was lovely, down by the canal, the view of the stadium, just enough football references in the cafe to not be tacky, yet keep the lads interested. The food was fantastic! I can't imagine how anyone could complain about the food. We each ordered a pepperoni pizza, burger with the works and a halloumi sandwich. They sound simple, but they were done WELL. All incredibly tasty, juicy and plentiful, no small portions here! We all had to leave some, we were so full. The staff really were great, relaxed and kind, while also being efficient. My nephew wants me to drive him back up there again soon, just to go back to the cafe ... and possibly a stay in the hotel above!

We came here today for our 1st time. I had read the reviews and everyone had commented on how nice the food was and so I had high hopes. Unfortunately I was very disappointed, I had the pie and mash, the mash and gravy were cold and the pie wasn't the best considering the cost and it really wasn't anything special at all. My son had a pizza and it was too cheesy. I think it's over priced and we wouldn't return, if the food was more enjoyable and hot and they had a more extensive menu then we could be convinced but what a let down.

I stayed here with my wife for two days to enable us to go to the football match next door. We ate in the cafe football twice which was a mistake. The first night we ate here, we waited 45 minutes and then were told that sorry, the chef has gone home. The next night the food arrived cold after another long wait. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and themed perfectly but cafe football seems to employ very young staff who are constantly "being trained" Another thing that concerned me was when I tried to enter the hotel after the football match was the aggressive nature of the doorman at the hotel. After speaking to other guests it turns out that the hotel has hired a "reformed" hooligan as the main doorman.....not a great look. As much as I love Manchester United, I will be seeking a different hotel when visiting in the future

Before Covid and the cost of living crisis, Cafe Football was a solid – clever even – American diner-style experience, albeit with the unavoidable football theme. Today, it feels like a reflection of a Brexit Britain, a shadow of its former glory, broken by economic misfortune and ill-advised decisions. The current slimmed down menu appears to have been created not by chefs – or anybody who knows anything about food – but accountants. The clever dishes – I seem to remember a 'Pot Noodle' which was in fact, a Vietnamese-style pho – are all but gone leaving a fairly uninspired selection. A lack of inspiration can be forgiven if quality is maintained. Alas, that too appears to have scarpered. It's never a good sign when the first chip to pass your lips tastes like an oven chip. Chips are levellers. If you don't put effort into your chips – i.e. peeling, parboiling and frying them – it's unlikely you'll try any harder with the rest of the menu. A few chips later and I'm pretty convinced they've come from the freezer. I fear the same of my burger. The brioche bun is stale and the patties are insipid, oddly textured discs of salt and oil. My dining partner's halloumi burger contains one miserable overcooked square of said Cypriot cheese. The kids' burgers look as if they've come straight from the kitchen of a pub that has reluctantly started serving food to stave off the inevitable closure. Except pubs of that depressing ilk don't charge these kind of prices. Our burgers from the main menu cost the best part of £18 each. If they'd cost a tenner from an actual cafe we'd have felt stung. The 'Messi fries' (£10) is impressive in size only. It's a large portion of suspected oven chips with what tastes like Stagg chilli and some cheese. It tastes microwaved and it may well have been. It feels Cafe Football has cut corners to maintain the bottom line but it may prove an own goal.

Weird place this. Went on a match day. Food was decent but insanely overpriced. My server was a nice lad. Most of the staff seemed sound, apart from one weird short blonde woman who seemed miserable in all honesty. Proper blunt and unwelcoming. The worst part about this place is the bar area. It’s rammed, which of course it will be on a matchday, but that isn’t the bad part. Friends and family of the owners (Neville, Scholes, etc) reserve the very limited number tables there are for the whole season, yet don’t turn up for hours thus leaving the seats empty. But don’t even think about sitting down! It doesn’t matter if the bar is heaving and you’re an old man with a walking stick. If you dare to sit at Gary Neville’s massively important nephew’s table, even when he hasn’t bothered turning up two hours into the reservation, when the bar is packed to the rafters, old bar maid will give you the stink eye and get snippy with you.

Visited on Thursday 10th August around lunch time and ordered the chicken "nuggets" from the children's menu for the kids in our group (all 6 years old) and no surprise, being kids, they were immediately put off when they saw 3 rather burnt and crispy breaded chicken goujons on their plates. Safe to say they didn't touch them and when I explained to the first member of staff (who appeared more senior) that they didn't look or taste anything like a chicken nugget, I received a load of attitude and was simply told "yeah we make our own", as if that somehow justified the fact that the menu was totally misleading. A second member of staff (waitress) did question if everything was okay with our meal when she was clearing the table and noticed that the kids "nuggets" were all wasted, and she kindly removed them from our bill. She also agreed that they weren't chicken "nuggets", and that it would make sense to call them something else to avoid confusion! (Perhaps the older more senior member of staff could learn a thing or two about customer service and manners from the younger member of staff)

After flying home to Manchester Airport, we came here to have some lunch until our room was ready. The cafe was quiet and there was 2 members of staff in the area. After a few minutes waiting, we were shown to our seat. (No welcoming face, very stern and did not feel welcome at all, felt like a hindrance). We were given a menu and told it was a limited menu. Prices were very inflated but it was a one off treat for our boys so we went with it. My youngest had the kids menu and he got a meal and a dessert. The dessert states that you can either pick some sweets from the sweet shop or pick a scoop of ice cream from the sweet shop. He wanted to go and see what there was, this area was unmanned but while standing their with my husband, he was approached by a staff member who asked what he was doing. My husband said he wanted to order ice cream for our wee boy. The member of staff said, What? I can’t understand what you are saying…. We’re Scottish, we speak English and the way the staff member said this was extremely rude and condescending. When my husband replied that our son wanted Ice Cream, he told him to get back to the seat as Ice Cream was served at the table. He then reeled off around 8 different flavours of ice cream and my son asked for vanilla. About 5 minutes later, the server brought out chocolate ice cream and said that was all they had. My son hardly touched it as not a fan and me and the youngest left to go get our bags as it was approaching the check in time, I was feeling very uncomfortable at this point and it was made very clear we were not welcome. My husband got the bill, just under £80 and we had been charged for the ice cream which was supposed to be included in the kids meal. A service charge had already been added, a bit annoyed at this as we wouldn’t have paid any service as the service was disappointing. Overall, I would never return. Food was average but not worth the cost and the service was pretty poor. You’ll see from my other reviews that I tend not to leave negative views but I really was so disappointed that this was a one off treat and I feel cafe football really let down what could be an amazing hotel.

If you are going to charge £14 for a Margarita pizza at least provide a proper knife. Also I prefer to decide myself how much to tip for service but usually it is in the region of 10%. Usually restaurants will add a 12.5% service charge for groups of 8 or more but it was just the two of us so I thought that was poor. This meal cost us about £20 more than other places we ate at. Went for the first time in years; very outdated now, felt like a motorway service station. The service wasn't great ; when staff brought food to the table they didn't know what the dishes were which led to lots of confusion. Glasses were dirty, the food (I had the red thai curry) was dry and bland, we had to get a refund on the pizzas too which were awful. Honestly, it needs ripping out and re-doing with new management. Gave two stars because it was warm inside!

I was a little nervous after reading some negative reviews on here but my sons insisted so we gave it a go - AND I’m SO glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious, huge portion sizes and so fresh and hot. The staff were amazing and so polite. Nothing was too much for them! Thank you cafe football for really making our evening! We will see you again 👍👍😊😊

Great food, not too expensive and a great bar. Stayed here on business and met up with some colleagues for a meal after leaving the office. Yea the food choices are limited but everything is prepared to order and everything tastes great. Staff are really helpful and happy to make suggestions. The vegetarian pizza is really good!
