Cafe Espresso in Newcastle-under-Lyme

Go to this cafe quite often we always have the jackets potatoes. Ordered them today with drinks and cakes after 5mins we were told they had run out .absolutely lovely lady apologised and said you can get a refund or choose something else no extra charge if you choose something more no problem .so we picked something else hubby had all day breakfa st I had chicken baguette both were lovely .Just to say thanks to the lovely lady sorry didn't get her name also the lady on the till was great we had a little chat about chocolate cakes thanks xx

Food was ok but the service was disgusting ... Very rude and staffdidnt speak to us onlyvto each other in a foreign language !!!! First and last visit

Had full English, pot of tea and a fresh orange, great service as always, the food was delicious. Table was clean and plenty of staff on hand to clear tables etc, thoroughly recommend this place.

Very poor service we payed for 2 full English breakfasts only one come to the table after asking after 15 mins where it was he said you've only ordered one I showed him the receipt he said oh It was the man that served you has only written one down no sorry or anything so we delo will NOT be going here again any time soon very poor service to say the least

We ate here today as we have done many times todays visit was not good. My husband and myself had Chicken mayo baguette which was fine, my son had a Cheese and onion panini supposedly, there was lots of onion but very little cheese mostly near the edge so it looked full. Stupidly we didn’t complain but if we do happen to go again I will be very vigilant and complain if things are wrong.lm wondering if this cafe has changed hands as the usual staff weren’t there only young people unsupervised.

Myself and my daughter ordered 2 jacket potatoes was charged £1 for extra cheese a very small pot of it as well, when they arrived my topping was hot but the jacket potato was warm my daughters potato was hard around the edges and tasted awful like old potatoes when I complained we were told you should of brought it back and would give you another one. We used to go here a lot but never again the staff are miserable and some don't understand English and the prices have rocketed £14 for 2 horrible jacket potatoes

Called here for quick lunch whilst shopping first visit. It was very busy but we were so impressed with the efficient staff and organisation. Even though they were so busy all the staff we had contact with were very pleasant. Husband really enjoyed his all day breakfast and my jacket potato was just how I like them food came quickly as well. Will definitely visit again while shopping here.

I cant actually believe I'm writing this! Awful they got my order so wrong was given something completely different! I then get the correct thing I ordered that was still wrong dripping in butter that I didn't ask for and with no onion and the most pathetic bit of lettuce you have ever seen and then the potato was BLACK! I'm not being funny but you put your prices up to a ridiculous amount £7.50 to then be given something vile and that I didn'task for! You have now lost a very good customer!

Rude ignorant staff, next time I shall spend my money where a smile isn't hard work....... If working with the public is such a chore I suggest a career change

Saw one staff member clean spillage on floor did not wash hands then went on to handle food.He then was handling baked potato’s without gloves not good .

This place is amazing! Delicious food, fast service, wonderful staff and it’s so organised it runs like a dream. It was very very busy but you would never have known. I can’t recommend enough.

We have just eaten at Cafe Espresso. On arriving there was quite a large queue, for food . We were served very promptly. Offered alternative wraps that they made to order. The cashier was lovely. We thought we may have to wait for our food We were totally wrong. It was out within 6 mins of ordering. Good fresh, food. Delicious. All the staff are pleasant. On watching them get the orders out, all staff worked like a well oiled machine. It was inspirational to watch. All service was with a smile. What a fantastic team. The team are a credit to the manager and whoever's trained them. This cafe is recommended highly. Well done all.

The food was all freshly prepared and the coffee was strong and good quality. Staff were very friendly and helpful and they were all busy keeping everywhere clean. Prices were reasonable too.

My wife called in for breakfast the staff were very friendly and polite that is the good news. We ordered full breakfast the Yolks on the fried eggs were hard the tinned tomatoes were cold the mushrooms were cold the sausages were very poor quality. First time visit and the last.

We called in and the dinners looked really nice and reasonable priced but when we asked if they did gluten free gravy they said no !! Why can't they just go get a jar of Bisto best and keep it behind the counter and if needed make some up Sick and tired of places not catering for gluten free and gluten free gravey . It's such a shame we were.lookibg forwsts to a little lunch but couldn't.

Today was second visit since lockdown lifted & my last. The whole area felt far too busy & some of the tables were very close to each other. I observed lots of customers wandering around looking for a cleaned table but giving up & deciding to clear them themselves. This was alarming me & I asked the guy at the til why there seemed no sanitising going on but he replied -there was... When I found a table I politely asked for it to be cleaned, it was sprayed & wiped with no comment made by the server. When I visited this cafe in August it felt much different. There was less tables & I observed more vigilance towards cleaning guidelines. In this current climate with apparent rising figures I feel this cafe is below expected standards, particularly when compared with other cafes & restaurants I have visited recently. I saw no obvious paper track & trace & very few bar codes for people to scan in & no prompting by any member of staff. They also have all the condiments out for everyone to handle which is outrageous. The whole experience was unsafe & unpleasant. I dont generally post complaints but felt compelled to voice my concerns. Sort it out Affinity, its a bad example of covid compliance & poor image for Staffordshire!

Having eaten here a good while back and not been very impressed I was sceptical, but with the only other option being a burger and having seen a member of there staff leave the ladies without hand washing I thought I’d risk it as the lesser of the two evils. caffe espresso have clearly up’d their game. Served quickly and given a trace and test form on my tray to complete I ordered a tuna salad sandwich. (£4) and a fruit scone (£2.20 with jam and cream) Wow not what I was expecting, soft fresh bread and plenty of filling. The scone was amazing. All staff wearing masks and busying themselves with cleaning or serving. Will definitely return here again and pleased that there is a reasonably priced, clean food option available in Freeport.

I was served by Carmen. Very friendly, helpful and always smiling! I had a large muffin and large banana milkshake. It was £5, 05. Reasonable price. This week offer was spaghetti bolognese with 2 garlic bread for £4, 99. Food looks good based on plates and customers around me.I will come again for sure. Thank you Carmen and the team!

After doing a spot of last minute Christmas shopping (yikes!) I decided I'd treat myself to some food before I headed to my mum's. I was served with a big smile by a lovely young lady and I went for the all day brunch, a pot of tea and a generous slice of victoria sponge - all were absolutely perfect, delicious and scrummy. If it was socially acceptable I'd lick the plates clean. All for the grand total of around £8! Bargain! Genuinely couldn't fault anything at all. Thank you. I will certainly visit again when I'm back in the area.

I came with my mother today for a look around the shopping centre, we stopped for some lunch with you as we've been before and really enjoyed it. Service was quick and efficient considering it's the first weekday of half term. I had to ask one of your male servers to clear the table as it was full (as to be expected- however there was not attempt to wipe it down, I gave it a quick brush off with a napkin that was on the table) We sat near the tills directly opposite the area where the milkshake blender and syrups are. We were sat enjoying our dinner when something very odd happend. I believe she must have been a manager (lovely lady, blonde and red hair) asked a member of staff who was cleaning tables (I think I heard the name Kate or Katie used - young girl dark hair) to take over from a blonde girl to make a chocolate milkshake. She proceeded to put her cleaning stuff on the trolley and head over to make the milkshake. This area is in full view of the customers and not once did she wash her hands before preparing it. To make things worse she continued to put the scoops of chocolate icecream into a DIRTY blender that had already had the remnants of an old milkshake in, topped it with the milk and ice and blended it. She then finished it off, sent it to a customer that was also directly opposite the station, at the back but still in view (a young boy with his mum and grandmother). She then poured the rest of what was in the blender into a cup, took a sip and placed it in the corner by the syrups and went and took the blender to be washed. My mother and I were extremely shocked and asked a lady sat next to us if she saw that and she had. This has made me extremely sceptical about returning as if this happens with one member of staff and a milkshake, what are the others like when serving the food. I think this needs to be bought to the attention of you staff and delt with. Working in the food industry myself, it's not at all what you want to portray to your customers. Just make them think it could have been a member of EHO that had seen it.

Ordered a roasted pork with gravy in Yorkshire pudding, picture shown it should comes with mixed vegi, couldn’t find the mixed vegi in the dish hence asked the staff, staff questioned me back ‘are you sure?’ How rude is that? Then she walked over, look at the dish and commented ‘it should be somewhere there’ and walked away! One of the poor service I had by far. Not sure how others commented excellent staff and service... maybe that excellent staff was not on shift today, we r unlucky I guess... hence better luck with others who wanna visit this place, as for me... never again as food is not great anyway!

I had lunch today at Cafe Espresso with my Mum who is in a wheelchair. The food and service was excellent. The system that they have is brilliant. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. The coffee and tea were lovely.

Unfortunately the top was burnt and couldn’t cut through it. But underneath was deliciously flavoursome. The dish couldn’t be replaced as staff said it was the last one. Coffee good. Service quick. Just a shame some of the food was burnt.

visit here on a regular basis for either a quick coffee, or some food be it breakfast or lunch. friendly staff and plenty on offer to eat or drink. reasonably priced also

cannot fault this cafe. staff are excellent, friendly & cheerful. l had my walker with me & the member staff realised l couldn't carry my tray & use my walker so he called a member of staff to carry my tray to a table. l had a piece of victoria sponge & it was delicious & you are given a generous piece & a large cup of tea. This cafe is so clean & tidy it was a real pleasure to sit there
