Cafe Creme in Torbay

The stingy owner only gave me half a sausage on each half of my sandwich which equals to only 1 whole sausage out of a packet where as if you was to come on holiday to my home town birmingham we give u 4 sausages when you order a sandwich like most cafes do but this 1 was poor nd bankrupt I wouldn't even tell my dying emeny to eat there stay aways people save you money

No Food Rating gives it away. Watching the owner, after serving a meal to a customer on an outside table, lift up his white T-Shirt showing his belly to wipe the sweat from his face and head made me nearly vomit. Quality establishment, how does it survive? No, I didn't eat here, I watched it all from the balcony opposite.

First impressions when entering the creme cafe .he rolled his eyes at first greeting like it was so much effort he seemed really offended that we asked for a breakfast. My mate felt uncomfortable and had to leave. Leaving his coffee wich then was handed to another customer 😆 the eggs were gooey and bacon was oinking at me terrible place

After shopping in Torquay myself and my partner fancied a bite to eat we attempted to go to this cafe and the man that was working there refused us entry because we had a pram he also refuses wheelchairs horrible little man

missing hash browns, missing can of coke, and food was terrible, greasy, overcooked eggs, undercooked sausages, just vile.

I couldn’t ask for anything better, during my visit to Cafe Creme. The food, the service, the location and the prices! They’re all exceptional. 10/10 would definitely come here again and I immediately suggest this restaurant to anybody else who is considering it.

Food never turned up. No contact number to speak to the cafe.

Overpriced, the sausage sandwich was poor quality and had 2 thin sausages with 2 thin slices of bread. In the mega breakfast the bacon was overcooked, eggs were undercooked, mushrooms were very dry and the hash browns were bog standard, so overall will not be ordering again. What a complete waste of money. Left feeling highly annoyed about spending money on this and disappointed.

Strange guy who owns this place grumpy same specials board everyday gammon and chips cafe always empty on the busiest street in Torquay Fleet Street I'm at a loss too why his there been there 12 years his obviously been messing it up for 12 years

The people who run this place are rude,use foul language,and the worst part is they are unhygienic!! Watched the man who looked really scruffy smoke a cigarette,rub his nose & hair then make food without going near a sink?! Saw empty tables at the lunchtime rush hour,but,can't say I'm surprised as the woman stands scowling at passers by when she isn't swearing or shouting with the man (went past on multiple occasions)!! Saw they got a ZERO from food standards and have somehow only just managed a THREE !! Disgraceful.

Good food and nice location. Good value and always busy. People were turned away as had reservations for tables but no one seemed to arrive. The place also has a large selection of ice cream which is a bonus. Clean and tidy.

We were told “we could only order off of a lunchtime menu because in an hours time they would be busy”. We was told we couldn’t order certain drinks (latte) because it wasn’t on the ‘lunch menu’.(We left and walked past 1 hour, it was empty).The cafe was grotty, table sticky.We heard her talking rudely about us to the chef, very unprofessional.

As someone who enjoys a good quality breakfast I was impressed . . Cooked to perfection . . And everything tasted lovely . . Also . . Unlike other cafe's in the same street CAFE CREME'S All day breakfast . . Does mean cooked ALL DAY ! . . Never quite understood those who advertise an All day breakfast and then say . . Only served until 12 noon . . You what ??? . . . All day to me means. . Served ALL DAY . . . So well done CAFE CREME for being the only one I found in that street who does as they advertise. . One other thing . . The negative and obvious false comments you might see on here have clearly been put on by a rival cafe nearby or friends of that other business . . Because Shelly was lovely . . Polite and Friendly . . And Mike who was cooking was very very good at it . . 10/10Excellent food . . Great customer service . .

Had a lovely lunch a Cafe Creme today. Shepherds pie was piping hot and delicious in an individual pie dish with a little basket of chips and piping hot peas and a separate jug of gravy. Very tasty and homemade.Shelly couldn’t do enough, the weather was changing, she offered to transfer us inside and pull the canopy over more. We were fine, it blew over. Incredibly friendly and service with smile. Would highly recommend.

Both fancied an all day breakfast and stopped at cafe creme cafe after a shopping spree - was not disappointed - really generous breakfast 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 eggs, beans hash brown and toast and all cooked to perfection, good quality produce - delicious, would definitely recommend!

Visited this place Saturday 5th sept , went in and asked for three omelettes and chips , and two coffees , No cards here! Only cash , ok no problem , could I have some sauces please you pay for mayo ,, ok , 40 pence , I herd a lady asking if she can used toilet, no we haven’t got one she said go over the road, to KFC , I couldn’t help but think what a cheek,, eat here but use others fercilities, our food came and was slammed down on table , filthy looking man needed a wash, chips was ok but omelette was greasy and burnt , other people came out of shop ,saying won’t ever use this place again!! Don’t you like tourists , ?? I could here you talking about my husband and my self have they gone yet ? Rude , you wont survive if you carry on taliming to people like this , better places to eat in Torquay,

We visited this place for breakfast. The staff were rude and turned people away even though the cafe was empty. They didn’t do our order correctly and were impatient and do not like customers. The place is dirty and food less than average. Avoid at all costs!!

Terrible!!! Rude. Don’t like tourists!!! Avoid. Broken tables. Spoke about us because we asked for some sauce saying unless they pay there not having any.. slammed plates down after paying just over £30 for 3 snacks. No please or thankyou very rude asked if I could use toilet to be told no we don’t have any use the public toilets in kfc!! .. my son had a bottle of orange juice in his pram I bought out with me and was told he could not drink it on there premises. And I would have to move away for him to drink it leaving me to walk onto the footpath so he could have a sip very unfair As the rest of us had ordered drinks from there.. from if I hadn’t of paid before ordering I would have left. Other customers felt the same even saying they was disgusted with how they was spoke to and would not return plenty of lovely other places to try don’t make the same mistake as us.

To say this place needs a clean is an understatement, the service and attitude is about as bad as it’s cleanliness, considering their main custom will come from tourists they actually don’t like them and openly complained about them. DO NOT bother with this place, you’ll only be annoyed by their service and attitude.

Hugely impressed by the breakfast at this cafe. We visited as a family of four and how the gentleman cooking manages to keep all plates spinning what with cooking the food and serving customers is beyond me but he did it! The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Also, the gentleman was keeping a close eye on covid safety and requested people to wear masks when ordering which again was impressive given how busy he was and what he had to attend to. Would definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

I am writing this to warn everyone that this cafe is the worse that I have ever been in and you should most definitely avoid it. .As soon as we entered the man cooking the food told us in a stern voice that we should be sitting at a table for two no please or thank you we decide to order two full English breakfast as we were sitting at our tables we noticed that our table was very sticky and dirty so just tried to clean it ourselves With detol wipes the best we could. We looked around the cafe and noticed that there was food splashing on the walls, the floors were dirty and there was rubbish under the food counter the man came with the food to our table and said toast will be soon when he eventually came with the toast he just slapped it on the table and said here’s your toast and it was already buttered still very rude no thanks or anythingand to top it off the food was cheap and tasteless.

Friendly looking place trying to manage the rules associated with covidWe tried to sit at the window, but were asked to move to a smaller table, which was fine.We tried to order tea & coffee but were told its lunchtime they would only take orders with food! The place was almost empty. So, we left.It looks like a nice local run cafe but i cant recommend it. Plenty of alternatives.

Fantastic for All. I went to cafe creme with my family for first time. Excellent customer service, following gov guidelines (to wear a mask in shop). Friendly customer service. Outdoor seating. An enjoyable experience with tasty drinks

Me and my partner were looking for somewhere to have branch and as we walked passed this place it smelled so good, we had to try it and we weren’t disappointed Fantastic English breakfast, very tasty and fresh omelette and on top of that amazing coffee !!!Ignore the bad reviews. Everything was freshly prepared, very very good !!!

If you want an omelette that tastes like feet, your order to be wrong twice and then get told that you’re lying visit this cafe. Terrible service, terrible front of house staff and even worse reception when we told them they had messed up. Probably the worst place I’ve ever been to in my entire life. Should be closed down. Not to mention they serviced a ladies baby’s bottle in a dog bowl.

Popped in for the first time today with my partner and had a breakfast.... Large Brekkie was only £5, cooked to perfection, great quality and great customer service. Will definitely be visiting again, thank you

We just went in for a coffee to get out of the torrential rain, but wished we had picked somewhere else. The place is so dated, it is about 40 years overdue for a refurbishment. I suppose the signage above the restaurant should have warned us. Coffee was nothing special either. We intended to stay until the rain subsided, but decided to brave it rather than sit in such depressing surroundings.

It was lunchtime needed to eat, spotted this café, and went in to try. Had the fish & chip, with bread & butter. The fish was really delicious with a very light batter, the chips, well it has been a long time since I have had hand chopped chips, they tasted like my mums it was a wonderful meal, It did take a while for the meal to arrive because it was all fresh, it was worth the wait, thank you

We were looking for somewhere to have a nice coffee and cake just as the heavens opened. We saw this lovely looking cafe, poked the nose of our 6 month old baby’s pram in only to be ushered out the door by one of the staff into the pouring rain as it would get the floor wet. Not able to comment on coffee or cake just the attitude of staff was uncalled for.

Very nice lunch. Cottage pie was huge, but very tasty. Good fish and chips.good service with a friendly smile.

Can’t give a review on food as didn’t get served.Went in with two buggies and was planning on folding one down as the eldest child sits in a chair, but we actually didn’t get that far as was abruptly told the place wasnt big enough for two buggies and to go.Their loss as we were the beginnings of a party of eight and with food and drinks would have been good amount of money spent.The three clientele in there looked slightly shocked as place was emptyIf the lady that asked us to leave is the manager Then her customer service leaves much to be desired

Went here whilst visiting Torque with family. The staff was inattentive and rude not happy to help with simple requests.

Had a really nice gluten free cream tea here. For a change the scones did not contain fruit. The texture of the scone was gorgeous. Not dry at all. After talking to one of the female staff I learnt that the gluten free scones are made by a local lady in a gluten free kitchen. I would highly recommend this if it is a cream tea you are looking for. When we visit torquay next year we will definitely be back here. I am gutted I did not take a photo as I normally do.

Food always beautifully cooked, nice and hot and clean on the plate. Coffee Latte is lush. Service in the Cafe is extremely good. Lovely owners.

Stopped here for lunch as menu looked great and good value for money. I had a big breakfast, hubby had fish and chips, girls had an American burger each. Food was all cooked from fresh and was absolutely amazing. Cost just over £32 for the 4 of us (including drinks), which I thought was brilliant as in Torquay town. We were greeted by a staff member as we went in, she was nice and friendly, showing us to our table. She chatted to us on and off throughout our stay making sure we had everything we needed. A lovely little cafe, great food and definitely value for money! We will definitely return

Stopped here for lunch and sat in a nice spot by the window. We had gammon, chips, eggs and peas. The gammon was freshly roasted and delicious. The staff were friendly, price very reasonable. Right in the heart of the Torquay, near to the harbour. Definitely recommend.

Chose this cafe for cream tea for two. What a mistake. Firstly told where to sit as only two of us not to sit on table of four. Despite there being only two other tables in use. Then sat on table for two right opposite counter. Also very tight squeeze for people accessing toilet. Not practical. When served. Scones came on one large plate not two separate plates. Scones warmed in microwave. Dreadful. I’ve had many cream teas in various places and this was the worst. Would not recommend this cafe.

Myself and my mother came in for lunch . She had the gammon and chips well I have to say it was thick gammon and thick chips along with 2 eggs well worth £7 . And I have to say over the week on my hols this had the best tasting coffee I have had , so much so I had 2 along with a lush lemon cake . Service was 5* by the lady serving and the chef. Keep it up guys xx

Fantastic and very polite staff but the food is out of this world. Cooked to order and everything is home made could not fault it at all if I could give them 10 stars rating I would fantastic.

We ordered gf & normal cream tea, we were given cream & jam to share, so not gf, and only scones with sultanas asked for plain they didnt have asked for refund and was only issued £2 not £6 as hubby had already started using the jam and cream which they said was enough for 4 scones? Essentially I paid £4 for 1 cup of tea! Not happy at all. As a coeliac it destroys your confidence when they say they are gf but issue you a share pot with someone who is eating food with gluten in.

We had a great freshly cooked breakfast with really hot tea. Will return on our next visit to Torquay.

We had a short stop here, had lovely toastie, and really nice scone with plenty of butter and jam, and tea. We were made to feel welcome, very nice staff, will definitely call again. Well done.

Whenever we go to Torquay this place is always our first stop, why, they serve an excellent latte, the best I've had in Torquay the chef and his wife are always friendly and welcoming. The owner/chef has recently redecorate part of the cafe. I have in the past has various sandwiches for lunch and they have always been freshly cooked lovely and fresh. The breakfast always smell delicious. The cafe is clean as are the facilities and cutlery.

Had a lovely meal and made to feel very welcome Great service and food! We would definitely come again!

Let's set the scene, a cloudy day in Torquay after a bit of rain and everyone feeling like now is the time to finish the afternoon with a nice warm cup of tea and freshly made scones. All before going back to the hotel to prepare for dinner.

Very large portions and believe it or not you actually get hand cut chips!!! Very friendly staff and great food at amazingly low prices. If you are thinking of traditional fish and chips or just a bite to eat I would highly recommend this café. Thankyou and would definately return if in the area again

This is the first time we have been to Cafe creme . First of all there service was first class,there food was also first class. i would not hesitate to suggest to anyone to go there . Took ages to get served and when it came 30_35 mins later we found it to be poor.Sausage and mash and vegetables turned out to be just peas all cheap as chips quality. Very expensive for the quality of it all. My granddaughters had a sandwich 2 thin slices of bread with a bit of ham and cheese for £3.49 you'd expect a few crisps or bit of salad.

Visited here on a Monday afternoon with 2 others, polite welcome from the chef as we walked in, we ordered 3 mega breakfasts and 2 coffee's and 1 tea. A friendly waiter bought out our drinks and then not long after, our breakfasts.. they were all delicious thankyou! Will definitely return

Popped in for a full English after seeing the sign advertising it as the best in town & reasonably priced at only £3-99.

We were in Torquay and popped in for a quick drink , although not wonderful to look at , it was clean and the staff were very friendly , we only had a cake and coffee but the people on the next table had delicious looking sandwiches , the service was swift and pleasant and much better than a well known chain opposite ! Try it and see !.

Well we came across this lovely looking cafe. My went in with my 2 disabled boys who needed to use the toilet and I sat on a table just by where the kitchen area was. As I sat I could hear the chef talking to himself and saying this place is falling to bits.

Me and my partner come here every monday with our 14month old daughter the staff are very friendly and always talk to my little one and offering side plate and spoon to feed her the breakfast is so nice and its fresh we now dont go anywhere else to have our breakfast we are so satisfied with our food we'd recommend to anyone really happy all round

The food is much better than the outside impression might suggest to you. It was delicious and fresh and excellent value. Service was great and I would have love to have been able to try the dangerously delicious looking home baked cakes.

Normally I only ever leave good reviews online, if I don't like somewhere I don't normally bother leaving a review, but after reading the shocking (yet laughable and therefore entertaining so, thanks) responses other people have been given when giving a poor review, here goes my first! I came here today with my other half on a rainy lunchtime in Torquay. Walked in through bottom door where the kitchen is and up to the cafe seating by the door where you order your food. We weren't acknowledged by either member of staff (man in kitchen and woman at till) doesn't really bother me personally but as you think your customer service skills are so excellent I thought I'd mention that as the first thing you should be doing (I work in customer service and always greet my customers, a hello isn't rocket science). Sat down and looked at the menu, decided we would have a breakfast, and an omelette. Went to order the food and asked for a Coke and water to go with it, was told that we would have to pay for a bottle of water, still early days at the point so gave the benefit of the doubt and agreed without questioning it. Asked if I could pay by card and was told they didn't have the facility- understandable for small orders but any transaction over £5 these days, people would consider that to be living in the dark age, not only that but there should be a sign up saying cash only to give people a heads up to get some before ordering, add to this the fact that I had my card in my hand when making my order and it wasn't mentioned! Anyway, again, early days so didn't complain, was told there was a cash machine just over the road behind the bus that was there (there wasn't, it was quite a way up the street, in the rain). Paid for the food, got to the table and was relieved about my bottle of water in the end, as my glass was filthy (your dishwasher needs the filter cleaning). Food came and we can't complain about the quality as it was lovely, it tasted great, it was hot and it was good value. We weren't offered any sauces so I went on a hunt for those. Started eating and a mature family of four sat down and ordered some food. I heard the elderly chap ask very politely if he could have a glass of tap water and he was told he couldn't, could you please explain the reasoning for this? I didn't mind for myself but I felt bad for this man and I started to cringe at this point by the customer service. I realise I'm rambling on a bit but I still have so much more I could say! Like the fact that two ladies came in and ordered ice cream, they had sat down whilst they waited and it took you ages to tell them it's take away only. It was raining and the cafe was quiet with loads of spare tables, I understand you can't always seat these people but could you not have let them sit untill more customers had come in, as a gesture of good will? I'll wind this up now with the fact that you took my partners plate away when I was still eating! To summarise: good food but not worth going due to the frosty atmosphere! I cannot believe your response to the customer on here who asked for a breakfast without a tomato, who are you to comment that they had a made up allergy, you should keep those thoughts to yourself as you are working in a cafe and should be providing good customer service, it's not your business to make such a comment!

In Devon, so a cream tea is a must!!! We were not disappointed. A lovely pot of piping hot tea, 2 delicious, melt in the mouth warm scones each, with clotted cream and strawberry jam, served with a cheery smile and welcome.

Been everywhere in Torbay for breakfast including all the top hotels. This is best value by a country mile and owner is a true gent!

Myself and my wife have been here twice now whilst we are on our honeymoon. Both times has been just as fantastic as the other. The food, that is proper home made food and you can see and taste the difference as soon as you see it. The staff are very welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful. I've left a review on Facebook under the name of Stacy on there Facebook page , for a start I am absolutely shocked by some of the bad reviews ! We've always come here the owners are lovely , the food is great we have the breakfast it's well cooked , tastes fresh an always hot , we use to live in Torquay but live in Newton abbot now and we've even caught the train here for breakfast often with our newborn and daughter ! Think some of the reviews are unfair to say the least ! Last visit yes we waited abit longer than normal for our breakfast but again it was busy , and was worth the wait we didn't ask about the wait as we could see it was busy and again all Cooked from fresh ! Would never stop coming here , please don't take in the bad reviews try it for your self don't let it put you off you certainly won't be dissapointed ! See you again soon guys ! (-:

my other half and I popped in for a cup of tea whilst out shopping and we're told that if we were buying only drinks we had to sit outside. by this point I had already paid and we were made to sit outside in the rain drinking our tea.

We came in around 1.30 for what should have been a quick very simple snack.... 2 teas and 2 Cheese and Tomato baguettes.The tea came out quite swiftly 20 minutes later and tea all drank we still hadn't got our lunch.The place wasn't very busy,although tables all cluttered with crockery and cutlery.We did ask the lady behind the counter where our lunch was,she replied kitchen is swamped,will chase it up.The atmosphere is very frosty! The lady behind the counter is quite rude and the man cooking it looks like he will snap! I previously worked in customer service and this is one place that could certainly do with it,even from the replys to other reviews on here... Shows the characters running this concern!!! Not long after lunch arrived,the kitchen was closed! Due to some disagreement within the kitchen.I expect a nasty reply back from the management as it seems all those that have given a poor review are bad customers.No such thing in this industry as customer being wrong,advice to management,take on board these criticisms they could help you out.Would never come here again!!!! Enter at own peril!!!!

Visited here for a quick snack whilst in Town. Had an awful long wait for food (1/2 hour!!) We did enquire but received awful attitude! Finally food arrived & it was tasty & freshly made but unfortunately whilst sat outside the chef came out for a cigarette then once finished went straight back in to prepare more food without washing his hands!!!! The place was badly organised & outside the tables weren't cleared allowing an influx of seagulls

All-day breakfast for £3.99 tempted us in for a late one at 1200. Run by Northerners. Decent fry up, large portion and decent food. Most outside tables in shade due to canopy they've put up. Liked it, happy overall.

Went in for some lunch, there were 8 of us, we sat a table of three, a table of 2, and a table of 4, leaving one spare seat where I put my sons buggy as there was no where else to put it without blocking the exit or kitchen. The women came down whilst some were ordering moaning as to why there was my daughter sat on a table of 4 (the others were ordering)as a family of 5 had came in. She was rude, ignorant and just plain not very nice. There were three tables with just one person per table she did not saying a thing to them. she bossed around this poor lad who was running round fetching and carrying for her doing a brilliant job, whilst the other 2 male staff worked hard cooking. Its a shame the women was there as without her it would be a much nicer place. We spent over £50 in that cafe and stayed around half hour as she was so rude! This was the only bad point of our visit to Torquay. Please avoid, for the price you'd expect to be treated with respect.RUDE RUDE RUDE.....

Called in for lunchtime snack. Very good food and comfortable eating but a little dis-organised and a long wait for the order. I would use it it again. A very wide choice of ice cream takeaways and drinks.

this place is well worth a visit, the breakfast is freshly cooked, with good quality ingredients, the coffee was piping hot and the owner was very friendly ad kept you informed as to how long your breakfast would be. All round this is a place which I would definately be going back to, the next time in Torquay.

We came here just for a drink. My partner suggested we have some cake and we both settled on this lovely gluten free cappuccino sponge cake. I have gluten intolerance and swallowing difficulties so this cake was perfect as it had no gluten in it and was moist and sweet. Staff were lovely and made you feel welcome. 10/10.

With recent reviews that even top restaurants are buying in ready made food, it was wonderful to see that all food was freshly made and cooked in front of us. Even the chips were freshly made. Exellent food just could not fault it <3<3

Visited while on a day trip to Torquay popped in for a coffee. The coffee was geeAt along with the service will be returning

The owner was lovely and friendly and made a fuss of our dog. We had the American burger which was homemade and delicious. Would definitely recommend it.

Looking for a bite to eat in Torquay we stopped at this cafe because the menu looked decent. The cafe is only small but the staff were very pleasant and helpful.The food was well cooked and was tasty but portion size wasn't what I expected( was a bit on the small side)the price was mid ranged so not cheap.not really a good place for a large family to sit in and eat.

we had a all day breakfast and it was amazing. Freshly cooked,beautifully laid out and very tasty. The service was excellent and very friendly. I would recommend this cafe to every one :)

I visited Cafe Creme with my 2 friends for lunch. The food was all freshly cooked and really very good. Two of us had the Lasagne which was excellent. Another one had Sausage,Mash and peas which was again excellent and freshly cooked.

My husband and wanted a coffee. Great welcome, excellant coffee and the most wonderful cherry shortbread all made by the owner and we will be going back again.
