The salt and pepper chicken was really nice the right amount of spice for good flavour without being over baring This lead to to sweet and sour chicken balls thay was just a ball of batter with a tiny bit of chicken I ordered the BBQ sauce and that just tasted like bisto gravey not what I expected at all and to top it off thay where over done To sum it up exerlent food or worse than Tesco frozen section

Ordered from here off uber eats and never again will we order from here. Food was over cooked waaaaay too salty (I get Chinese is salty but this was ridiculous) none of it tasted fresh and just overall rubbish. Very expensive too

food was very poor all sauce no meat and basically went straight in the bin.. would advise anyone to go elsewhere for your food.

spent 47 pounds and still have 42 pounds to go in the bin, duck dry and must have been very small as the quater I had was tiny ,the curry looked vile and tasted as it looked , if i had the time and room to pick everything I ordered apart i would but i have to go home today !avoid like the plague !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been looking for a decent Chinese takeaway for ages. So decided to ignore the bad reviews and take a chance. Really glad we did. Food was hot and tasty. The flavours were delicious and rice fluffy. So glad we tried on a whim as this will now be our go to Chinese takeaway.

Over cooked wings and ribs, very dry. Hopefully a one off as previously really yummy

Delivered one hour early - so I apologise to the delivery driver for not being ready - but we're always happy to receive the food early!!! The stir fry with veg and cashews was good. Tofu and mushrooms was VERY VERY hard and almost too chewy to eat. And, let's be honest - that 'crispy seaweed' has never even sniffed the sea!!! - I think it was just fried kale smothered in sugar! Not good, not good AT ALL. I can't say I recommend this restaurant food, sorry.

That was the worst Chinese I've ever had in my life. I ordered a chicken curry with fried rice. The chicken was slimy with no taste and the whole curry was full of chunks/quarters of onions. My son had a chicken fried rice and his chicken was over cooked and very dry. Only good thing about it was the prawn crackers. I will never go again and would not recommend this place.

ordered special curry. curry was runny. the meat was chewy China garden special rice meat chewy and covered with juice over the rice. sorry to say but I won't be coming back for seconds. worse curry I had for many a year. not worth the money

Just picked up a take away, None of the food is freshly cooked it's all reheated, rock hard and deep fried. Don't recommend was disgusting.

Ordered on Uber so don’t know if that makes a difference to what they supply. Ordered duck and mushrooms plus sweet & sour chicken balls and chips. The duck was so overcooked it tasted like beef. Came with loads of large half cooked onions plus 3 carrots although the mushrooms were nice. Chicken balls contained dry over cooked chicken. The chips were white, half cooked and cold

food was over an hour late & stone cold won't be using again

Food took 2.5 hours to come, rice was stuck together and sloppy, missed 2 items off my order and refused to refund me!

At first just eat said it would arrive at 8:25pm (ordered food @ 7:25pm) just eat updated to then say delivery would be between 8:50-9:10. Food still hasn’t arrived over 2 hours from ordering food. Just eat have said it’s arrived and to enjoy my food but they can’t happen as it hasn’t arrived!

When I rang to query order the restaurant said they hadn’t received any order even though money had left my account. Then order arrived with wrong items in it .

The delivery took an hour and a half to turn up and when it did it was wrong. Then took another 40 mins on top of that to be delivered correctly. Food was good just a bit too salty.

Absolutely terrible service we ordered at 6pm and we waited to the very last time they gave us and it never came! What made it worse was the restaurant was permanently on user busy (feel like they left the phone off the hook) We had to go somewhere else and paid all that money! Shocking don’t order from them at all

The second time we've ordered from this restaurant recently. The food was excellent on both occasions. Distinctive flavours from all dishes we ordered. Containers filled to the brim. The orders were delivered way before the estimated delivery time, which was actually an hour or more. Definitely a plus in my opinion. We've tried many other Chinese restaurants in Torquay over the past 8 years, The China Garden is easily the best. Consistent in quality and service. Highly recommended!

Quality of food was poor. Chicken balls was dry and overcooked and not enough sweet and sour sauce. The Thai beef curry was stodgy nothing like a Thai curry. Beef chow mein was dry and unappealing. Overall for the price, we were left unsatisfied and disappointed. We won’t be returning.

Food was hot and tasty apart from the chips which was a little overcooked. Delivery time was 2 hours but it was ok as it was Christmas eve .

My usual Chinese takeaway was closed, so used this one. BIG MISTAKE!!!. Food was very expensive and poor quality. Chicken balls were overcooked, chicken in the chow mein and chicken fried rice was dry, insipid colour to the crispy chilli beef and prawn crackers were stale. Only decent thing was the pancake rolls. Certainly won’t be using this Chinese again, awful 🤬

The food was excellent but in the notes when I placed the order, I asked the driver NOT to ring the door bell, as we had small children sleeping. It specifically asked them to knock the door. No prizes for guessing what happened. Yep, children woken up.

Wonderful food, wonderful service

Ordered through Just Eat at 18:00 and food did not arrive until 22:50. I had no updates at all from either Just Eat or the restaurant. After 2 hours of waiting I went elsewhere for food and when the driver arrived after almost 3 hours (no warning/updates) I told him I had requested a refund and didn’t want the food. He told me to keep the food and I would still get a refund. Just Eat have refused me a refund and so I have lost out on nearly £40. Really very angry and will not use this restaurant or Just Eat again.

I ordered duck there was hardley any more onion an carrot than duck an what duck that was there was all fat …. Sweet an sour sauce was more sweet tasted like icecream sauce very bland shan’t order from here again very disappointing

In my opinion a terrible Chinese. £50 worth of food was worthless, the satay chicken was very watery and resembled something out of a tin. Unhappy customer to say the least.

It's the best Chinese in the bay. It's slightly more expensive but it's too quality. You definitely get what you pay for 😁👍

Whole meal ruined with a mountain of salt, it was inedible, phoned them to let them know, they apologized and realized what they had done and offered free prawn crackers with our next delivery!! What about the 23 pound I have just spent that's in the bin?? Shame 😞

Great service great food nothing negative to say

One of the nicest Chinese meals we have had in a long time. The restaurant was happy to exchange my sweet and sour sauce for a curry sauce proving that they read the notes section which other restaurants often don't. Prawn balls were beautifully crispy with no soggy bits, the pancake roll too. The chow mein had more than enough shrimps, no scrimping with ingredients here. Only minor complaint was the duck was a tiny bit too fatty so I couldn't eat it but my partner doesn't mind fatty meat but even he said it was a little more so than he is used to but the flavour was great so he still happily tucked in. Delivery was early which was a bonus as we were hungry. We will definately order from here again and happy to recommend them

I enjoy Asian food especially Chow Mein Tried China Garden for the first and last time. Ordered a King Prawn and a Chicken Chow mein. Both the meals were Terrible prawns are small, definitely not King Prawn and 6 prawns in total. The noodles were all broken in bits, hardly any bean sprouts no other ingredients to be seen and absolutely TASTELESS other than the burnt noodle taste! AND VERY DRY! When I telephoned to complain the woman kept telling me “this how they make it noodle all break when cook”?? No Apology! No discount off the next order! Nothing because this is how they make it? I strongly suggest the cook? takes ‘cookery lessons’ They basically charged £14.20 for two portions of dry broken up noodles

The half a duck was not half a duck unless it was a baby duckling. The pizza box of goodies was good. Sauces and curry not to my liking felt like there was too much artificial additives.
