Shocking experience last time it was 2 hours and it was cold and man was very rude on the phone. This time they forgot my pancakes for my duck sent it half an hour later my food was cold and had the cheek to offer me a 5% discount. Very disappointed and man was rude on phone again. I ordered the Mix Hors D'oeuvres. This was over cooked to the point of being burnt. Salt and spicy prawns, I felt were poor quality and I have had a lot better.

Worst chinese I've ever had. The ribs were so tough I couldn't get the meat off the bone. The pork curry was oike chewing cardboard. The currys sauce was congealed and the worst I've tasted. The only good thing was the rice but how hard can it be to get that wrong? I won't eat here again.

High quality, equal portions of rice and curry 👍🏼 only criticism is that the curry was very mild compared to what I’m used to 🫥 (would suit a child ) hence only 4 stars, lots of meat and onions 👍🏼 delivered promptly (within 45 minutes) 👍🏼 would use again but would be 3-4 choice Thank you

Ordered king prawn chow mein got 2 prawns and a couple ragged bits of what i think was chicken, no bean sprouts

Expensive prices but thought I would pay the extra expecting the food quality to be good. In fact the meal was nowhere near the quality of my local Chinese. Tiny little pieces of duck with rubbery fat, i will not use this place again

The chow main had a funny taste such a shame have used a couple of times thought we’d found a good Chinese but back to hunting again!!

Driver had a touch like a baby elephant no consideration chapping the door like the polis just grafter half 10pm. Curry sauce was congealed it had been lying for at least half an hour for that to occur. Over priced for inequality food. Enjoy the money yous won’t received as you wont gain another penny from us.

Ordered dinner tonight took hour and 20 mins to get too us on arrival the chips that went with my curry were cold both our curry's were luke warm and the prawn crackers were basically broken bits in a bag, usually don't have a problem with them but lately the quality has gone down hill and the delivery is taking longer and longer each time . Will go back too lucky chef from now on very disappointed won't be ordering again from here

First time using them. The food was lovely. Will order again. When I had a small problem with the delivery time put on the internet I called the takeaway and spoke to a really nice man who said he would try to get it to me more quickly. It was here within half an hour. Brilliant customer service.

We had shrimp with vege ( instead of anything else they put been sprouts there , really? ) had no taste the worst Chinese dish I had so far in Torquay And beef in black beans sauce, beef was cheewy, not well cooked . Rice with egg had no taste Wait a moment start to think I lost taste due to Covid. Wait nope ! Won't order again sorry Delivery took 2 hrs instead of 1,5 promised was quite long time to wait.

I once rated this the best Chinese takeaway I have ever used; even better than it is a minute walk from my mother in law's house in Plainmoor. What a shame that an obvious change in ownership has ruined it. My favourite Sam See Chow Mein is now tasteless Garbage. Please bring back your chef from days gone bye.

had special chow mein, special fried rice, honey thai chicken, mixed starter box and pancake rolls. starter box wax good, main meals were watery and bland. will not go here again, would not recommend 👎

We are here on holiday and decided to get a Chinese. Googled nearest Chinese takeaway and this 1 came up so decided to go as it was the closest. Absolutely beautiful food. Well worth the money (and it's not exactly expensive) and will definitely be ordering again before we go home

An update. It is true that good things don't last forever. Sorry Hong Kitchen, but bye, bye. I'm sure you'll be absolutely devastated to lose my custom after 10 years. It's a shame that your steadily increasing prices don't match the food, which has taken a nose dive. On 2 consecutive orders, food has been, at best, unpleasant and at worst, inedible. Crispy seaweed, not the most expensive item, I'll grant you, however when you buy something, you at least expect to be able to eat it. For some inexplicable reason it appeared you emptied half your sugar bowl into it. That headed straight for the bin. Next offender. Noodles. Now come on, this is a basic plain chow mein. It stank. It stank my entire kitchen out in fact. God knows what you managed to do, but whatever it was, I don't think I want to know. Another straight to the bin job.

This place has gone to the dogs. Crispy seaweed, for some inexplicable reason, had half the contents of a sugar pot mixed into it 🤮 They couldn't even get plain 'chow mein' noodles right. They had a weird smell about them, so they went straight into the bin. Pork balls in batter, chewy and tasteless. Fried rice, unpleasant. I mean if a Chinese takeaway are unable to cook even rice and noodles, that pretty much says it all. AVOID.

My nan and grandad made there same weekly order to this Chinese (really simple order) and it came wrong as my nan called the lady on the other end of the phone straight up called my nan a lier.. One thing my nan is not is incompetent or a liar! Shocking behaviour and inedible food! Will be calling in to see the management tonight

Worst chinese I have had, and we have ordered lots! Gone downhill so much since last time, spent £31 for this which was a waste. Chicken chow mein had no beansprouts wnas was dry, Prawn chow mein had them but was full of a sauce that was not mentioned when ordering. Chicken and blackbean sauce tasted horrible, pancake roll was full of oil and greese. Lemon chicken had hardly and sauce and was tough as anything i had to be careful didnt break any teeth. Will stick to The Willows who by far do the best in all of Torquay.

We ordered food at 18.30 they said hour delivery 20.24 and still no food so I call them up and ask to be spoken too by what can only be described as a young female who's bored of her job and has the customer skills of a house brick...asked to cancel order to be told it's with the driver ,spoke too owner and said want to cancel and he happily did and slammed phone down ....wont be using again they say first impressions last

This take-away is truly the worst, just step inside and see the delipidated décor, broken and missing tiles, filthy walls and random stickers with various messages scrawled across. What is a concern is the new owner has left the same hygiene certificate up with the old owners name, go figure! The standard of food is rock bottom. By law under the trade description act a Chop Suey should contain the following, the meat of choice, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, beansprouts, Chinese lettuce or greens such as broccoli and or spring onions and mushrooms if you're lucky. This is a traditional dish with lots of different vegetables, here they serve some kind of mush. 3 ingredients, the beef or lack of it and beansprouts with some slimy sauce. Please I am warning you avoid this awful take-away and pay a little extra for a real Chinese meal.

Ordered food through just eat. Delivered to incorrect address abbey road who stole our food. My wife spoke to Hong kitchen who laughed and denied all knowledge. DO NOT USE AS UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. WILL DEFINITELY NOT USE AGAIN OR JUST EAT OR HONG KITCHEN.

Ordered meal for yesterday evening, have ordered from them regularly previously from a previous address before Covid shut down, this has to have been the worst take away ever, everything dried up hard even looked a mess. Pre ordered for early delivery and Question if it was left over from night before. Extremely disappointed, called them today to express our displeasure and concerns, person advised that they would tell the kitchen. That's all I have to say.

Great meal today! The nicest chicken pancakes we had in the bay, well cooked and not too salty. Chow main was delicious and all cooked with our allergies in mind. Delivery was super fast. Thank you!

Ordered a chicken/beef mixed curry and sweet and sour chicken balls, what turned up was a just a beef curry and the beef was so chewy, the chicken balls were huge but pretty much all batter! Small strips of chicken with a layer of mushy batter followed by a rock hard shell of batter! First and last time buying food from them!

Was recommended by a friend as my usual Chinese takeaway was closed.Our choice was Beef Curry with fried rice & King Prawn Curry with fried rice.Just fabulous,will certainly recommend

We've been ordering food from this place for ages, and we've made it our local Chinese takeaway. Last time we ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, duck fried rice, salt and spicy wings, chips and curry sauce. The food was fresh and very tasty. Can't fault it.

Never ask for the green thai curry. Nothing natural about that shade of green. Threw it away and toast instead.

One of the best Chinese take away in a very long time! You have put my faith into loving Chinese food again! All the food was hot and fresh when delivered and arrived earlier then expected (bonus) will definitely be ordering here regularly and will 100% be recommending to everyone I know in Torquay!

Had a Chinese meal from here last night and everything was great the food was delicious and delivered very fresh and very hot and definitely not right with food as got lots.

We had king prawn curry with added beef, salt and pepper dishes and spare ribs in sauce. Absolutely delicious! Couldn’t eat all of it on the evening so popped in the fridge and reheated the lunchtime after and still as delicious as the previous evening! WILL DEFINITELY USE AGAIN 5*

We ate here as our usual Chinese is closed on Mondays and thought we would give them a chance. What a regret. Sauces are watery and full of vegetables and little meat. Will be sticking with Upton Cantonese for sure and want be trying this again. Such a shame 😣

I've never before had an inedible Chinese but this one went in the bin. Even the rice, which was so stodgy it just stuck to the fork!

After using hong kitchen for numerous years I have now swapped to another Chinese take away. I ordered on just eat and was surprised to see that it was claiming to be a new restaurant. My meal turned up on time but oh my god it was absolutely awful. The salt and spicy ribs had an overpowering metallic taste to them and the curry sauce was definitely not the same. I can only conclude a change in ownership or management but won't be returning.

Ordered tonight through just eat, the food took well over an hour to arrive and when it did it was barely warm. The food was definately from the previous day, most likely re-fried. Nobody ate anything. Absolute waste of money. So if you want to order food fit for the bin then fill your boots!

Really don’t enjoy writing a bad review , but just had a take out from Hongs and it’s was really poor and they need to improve on the textures of the food 1) Fried rice was sticky and when it came out of the container it remained in one lump and when I took the fork to it it just stayed in clumps 2) chicken had an unusual taste as if it had been deep fried it was not fresh chicken 3) Pancake roll was the size of a shoe which is great, but it was just full of grease and soggy 4) Sweet & Sour sauce was a little on the thick side and as it cooled down it started to set Overall not an enjoyable meal and I am sure it was never this bad, let’s hope they read these reviews as the food tasted ok it was just the textures that made it a hard to enjoy

Terrible - waited 2.5 hours to discover we where still 12 orders behind!?! No warning of delay and phone unanswered for last 1.5 hours.Cancelled our order (which was a birthday meal for my son and his friends) and went to another take away. Terrible service.

Ordered a takeaway - menu looked very good, if a bit pricy; delivery time options were given, I selected one an hour in advance, went through all the tick list, even paid my money then they added half an hour to the delivery time without giving me the option of not accepting it. Food duly arrived, in a cardboard box not an insulated bag - it was dried out and tepid at best, threw most of it away - not what you want when you are dealing with a difficult family situation and want some nice food.

Used to be fantastic here with nice food and quick delivery. Now just had one and so let down by service and food.

Current owners seem unable to cook and ignorant attitude of server

Covered everything in chilli dispite asking for them to go easy on it as I'm not good with overly spiced food, it was barely edible and repeated on me for hours, food also took over an hour despite being just a mile away so I think they were just chucking the food out without much care, I've been looking for a replacement since shaun Lee shut ( it was a fantastic Chinese) but I'll have to keep searching as I'll never use this one again! (update, we all had crippling stomach cramps for a few days after)

Our normal Chinese has been closed for ages so we tried hongs out. So glad we did. The food was amazing. I had the Malaysian curry and asked for it extra hot. It was so tasty. I can not believe there are people out there that say this take away is not good. We will be using them all the time in the future.

Are local Chinese used to go to China Garden that's slightly further up the road but it didn't taste as good after a while they must have changed the recipes. Always use Hong kitchen now love there be beef in blackbean sauce and chicken in oyster sauce.
