Ordered a chicken fried rice and veg spring rolls. Hardly any chicken in the rice and what there was was cut up so tiny, baby size. This is unacceptable, and day light robbery. And the spring rolls were not crispy, but soggy. Will never buy from here again. Money down the drain.

Possible the best Chinese I've ever had

Unfortunately this takeway isn’t what it used to be. The beef satay I ordered is supposed to be spicy but it lacked any flavour. The sweet and sour sauce which came with the chicken balls had more flavour than my beef satay. Really below average and wouldn’t recommend ordering from here if you want a flavourful and decent chinese takeway.

Ordered at 18.25, it’s now 21.15 still not received food. First phone call was at 20.00 to chase it and was told another 30-45 minutes, phone up again at 20.55 as have still not received our food to get told another 30 minutes. I totally understand it’s Chinese new year however this is not an acceptable excuse, business needs to manage itself better instead of continuing to take peoples orders which they can’t then fulfil within a reasonable time limit. If I had not ordered through just eat I would’ve cancelled this order but because of issues before and not receiving refunds this was not going to happen particularly as it was a £70 order.

Disgusting and 3 and a half hour wait. Wouldn’t ever go back to this Chinese.

Ordered a beef curry and a sweet and sour chicken for my friend,my beef tasted weird and I was quite poorly on the loo for most of the night after as well as feeling sick, the girl playing on her phone didn't even realize I was waiting to be served when I went in.I certainly won't be stepping foot or ordering a delivery from here.Avoid like the plague if you ask me. Shocking!

Have had takeaways food from here on Many occasions and have always been delivered hot and love the idea that the sweet n sour sauce is in a separate pot so you can add the amount you want on your food. Prawn crackers are tasty. I would say on one occasion they have been a bit stale. Otherwise great food

Delivered by just eat. Late , cold , no reason for delay. Cashews in chicken cashew stale , thick rubbery batter in Sweet & sour chicken, cold hard salt and pepper chips , very vinigary sweet and sour sauce. ... All in all not a good culinary experience

Had a few times now and delicious especially the duck.crackers last time were too hard to eat but apart from that lovely food.

Third time the food was delivered late and was barely warm. When I phoned to complain, Manager did not even apologise for the poor service, and could be heard saying to a colleague " they shouldn't order from us again then should they" Very expensive for poor quality food. I DO NOT recommend this takeaway

have used this restaurant for 10+ years, and I am very disappointed with the food/ service as of late, and tonight, the food was terrible, I will never order from here again!

We have been customers of hings for years, really dissatisfied with the meal that arrived this evening. Really watery it tastes like it has been defrosted and warmed , what a shame and yet the prices are rising the quality has fallen drastically. Not happy at all I threw most of it away.

If I could rate zero stars I would, food is awful.

Took over an hour for delivery... rice very dry chicken and onions cold as for the curry sauce tasteless really disappointed awaiting on another delivery on curries from elsewhere..

This take away was recommended to my friends and I as being very good so we decided to order a take away last Sunday 6th November. I ordered at 5.30pm and was told it would be delivered in 45 minutes. At 6.30pm I phoned them again as it had still not been delivered. The meal eventually arrived at 6.45pm. The food was luke warm almost cold and certainly not as good as my usually used local Chinese take away. I am still today, Wednesday awaiting a reply to my email of complaint, this adds to my negative experience of using Hing’s. Would I use Hing’s again, no never.

My expensive take away chicken and sweetcprn soup, most expensive take away in bay at £4 tub , was barley visable in its minute container. Looked like it was in a serving for a sauce. Disgusting portion for the price, come on you can do better than that for a soup Will not be returning.

3rd time I've ordered food and been missed, didn't bring back later and told to add to my next order which is unprofessional having to wait another week. Next time I ordered, they forgot. Now saying they sent last time. Rude and poor customer service. Not to mention the quality of food getting worse. Been getting food from here for 4 years and used to be great, very poor now and final straw to not order from here again. Go else where cos if your order is wrong, you get an angry Asian who doesn't want to apologise or put it right

Our food was excellent this evening! When placing our order the lady on the phone was very helpful as I am gluten free. She suggested numerous dishes which was very helpful. Beef chop suey was my favourite! Definitely recommend this place.

Totally overpriced and totally average, won't use again

Use to be so much better. We specifically asked for an item not to be included in our meal, and we got extra of this item. Sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style seems to be completely different from other places we have tried, and they have stopped giving free prawn crackers even after spending £25. Food was OK but we wont be returning anytime soon as just found the whole experience disappointing

We had a really disappointing meal, we ordered chowmein and specifically asked for no water chestnuts, and this was read back to us by the person on the phone. Picked up our meal and there was absolutely loads of water chestnuts in the dish, we also use to get free prawn crackers and this has now stopped. Disappointing experience with over priced food and staff that don't listen to what the customer has asked fo.r We will vote with our feet and wont be returning, hope they read the reviews as this place use to be so good

Absolutely love it here, get takeaway from here and have done for ages, the food is always top quality, I usually get the noodles or special fried rice with duck, it is a bit expensive bit still very good, usually order direct through them or on just eat, and always gets to us in a decent time and still hot.

ordered tonight and was very dissapointed i had the cantonese spare ribs and they were so tough i could not even cut them with a knife so i had just a pancake roll for my dinner. i did phone them to complain but all i got was (sorry about that i,ll let the kitchen know ) i was not after a refund or even a replacement but some caring on their part would have been something. they are one of the most expensive Chinese takeaways in Torquay so i do at least expect the food to be good. if i were you i,d steer away from this place.

Despite one of my family members having an unusual allergy (onion and garlic) Hing’s always provide an excellent meal, and are very accommodating and efficient while taking great care and consideration with preparing the food. We have been going for years and have never had an issue. Highly recommend.

MOULDY FOOD!! The cucumber to go with my crispy duck was slimy and mouldy! Absolutely disgusting! I was offered a refund on just the duck, not the whole meal. The restaurant should be ashamed to deliver such terrible food and service. Do not eat this food!

Me and my dad go there very often and the food is very nice highly recommend to everyone who comes to Torquay or lives here.

If i could give no stars i would. Very rude staff was waiting over two hours for a delivery that i already paid in advance so called them and they said will be another two hours i said it was un acceptable and that i would like it asap and they cancelled my order. After waiting all that time i would not go to them and i would stay clear.

Most of the food was okay just a shame it cold when it arrived & had to be microwaved! King prawns were nice but the Singapore noodles were absolutely revolting and tasted like dishwasher. It's also very disappointing that we spent over £30 but didn't get any free prawn crackers! Won't use this one again.

We always order from Hings and the food is always great. Arrives hot and fresh and is usually always delivered earlier then the time stated.

Before Christmas my sister in law purchased a large takeaway from Hings for a big family get together. Our verdict on that occasion was 10/10. We couldn't fault it that time. Based on that experience we decided to order a takeaway this evening. The food was bland and flavourless- especially beef, green pepper and black bean sauce. There was hardly any beef, all green peppers which was barely shown the wok. The sweet and sour chicken balls were dry and over cooked. None of the dishes had been seasoned at all. The chicken curry was ok, but runny. So the menu will go straight in the recycling bin because we won't go back.3/10 not good.

Had a Chinese Saturday night, me and my friends all agreed the food was excellent, really prompt delivery and the driver was really polite too, highly recommend!

The best Chinese takeaway in the country! High standards in cooking, cleanliness and service. Have been eating here for over a decade and would recommend to all. Personal favourites are their curry dishes and Singapore noodles (which don't use that horrid yellow curry powder)

Have not been here for years because the food was so bad. Decided to give it another go to see if it's changed. It hasn't. Very rude people serving. Chicken curry had a weird taste and nothing like any other chinese chicken curry that I've ever had.Husbands meal was horrible as well. Back to my usual from now on.

Upon arrival of our delivery we had received chicken in batter NOT sweet and sour that we had ordered. I have never heard of chicken in batter being a sweet and sour before!!Rang the restaurant to be called 'stupid' by the woman on the phone claiming just eat had labelled it wrong. Upon further investigation and just eat saying it was the restaurants fault we found their menu online to find exactly the same mistake no mention of sweet and sour being balls. Appalled with the customer service from the lady on the phone (who also took a number of minutes to locate the 'Hong Kong style' on the menu herself, showing that it was not 'simple' and 'obvious' as they claimed) so we're £20 down, and still starving with a bag of food for the bin! Never ordering from these again!!!!Delivery was fast though!

Absolutely disrespectful and rude. We ordered from just eat, and went to the Cantonese section for a sweet and sour chicken, It wasn't there so we went to the most obvious section - sweet and sour dishes and brought 2 sweet and sour chicken dishes. What turned up was chicken balls which we honestly don't like. My partner called up and explained the mix up. The English woman on the other end was rude and told us that we had ordered the wrong meal so it was our fault! We suggested that she should find the correct drop down menu for meal, surprise! she couldn't find it either. It came to light after 6mins that it was under the "peaking" dishes menu, still stated that it wasn't their problem and they could do nothing about it! I'm so H-ANGRY

My local Chinese and it never disappoints. Food is always nice, order is always correct. Staff polite and delivery comes on time

Visited this takeaway yesterday and all I can say it's a real shame, as the food is quite nice in flavour , but really isn't hot enough. If you order you will probably have to change me home and put in a microwave. All I can say it's a shame and a bit off putting

We have spent such a long time looking for a decent Chinese and in our opinion this is one of the best there is as even when you collect your order the aromour of the cooking is mouth watering, and we have had loads of takeaways from Hings and not experienced what others are saying below.Compared to other takeaways in the bay, Hings are head and shoulders above others. As with all reviews it down to your own taste and expectations but we have never had a bad meal and we are fussy when it comes to Chinese and there are some dodgy ones about and with this type of food you need to be assured its fresh ,clean and well cooked food and we feel Hings achieves all these. We also read reviews and then try for ourselves and that way we can give an honest and impartial view of our personal experience

Hing's Chinese takeaway has always entertained my tounge with highly scrumptious eating, and my latest excursion to this house of oriental delicacy was true to form -

A big group of us on a weekend away in the local area got a takeaway from hings. It was a large order that came to around £80. We decided to collect the order and once we arrived back home there was a dish missing. When we realised we had been charged for the dish we rang to let them know it had been forgotten, the man on the phone was extremely rude and when we told him we couldn't come back out to collect it he seemed very annoyed with us and refused to refund any money. Eventually he agreed that they would deliver the missing food, which we were very grateful for, however this took around 30 minutes which meant most of us had finished eating before one of the girls had her food. On top of the confusion, none of us were satisfied with our food. Tasteless sauces, undercooked chips and dry 'shredded' duck full of bones.

After spending a lot of time trying to find a decent Chinese takeaway, I believe we have found a nice one. we have now tried on several occasions and the food its nice quality, the portions are good and the price is reasonable. Even when you enter this takeaway you are meet with a great smell of cooking and the staff are really pleasant. They also take card but under £15 it a 50 pence charge but there is cash point at the co-op which is within walking distance to this take away, Also a bonus there is plenty of parking. This is at the top of Cadwell lane with hospital on the left and then turn right at the roundabout and it just past the Shiphay chippy on the left hand side

Have used Hings on many occassions, but after my last order shall never use again. Food luke warm and very peculiar taste. King prawns were very powdery tasting and noodles very dry.
