Cafe Coho - Queens Road in Brighton and Hove

£6.50 for a sausage roll!! Extorinate prices! One member of staff was incredibly rude. One male member of staff was helpful and refunded us the sausage rolls.

So disappointed. Used to be a great coffee shop. There was a staff change at Christmas and since then the service has plummeted. Today, no water glasses, tables uncleared and dirty, dirty crockery, no soap in the toilet. When I asked for soap staff said they were waiting for a delivery. She used the toilet after me, so she will then go and prepare drinks and food for customers with dirty hands. Disgusting

Absolutely lovely coffee shop right near to the station, staff are really friendly, coffee is excellent and the brunch looks fab! Love the charity stuff they do too

I love this cafe, the staff are fast, efficient, focussed and friendly. The coffees were very well made, we had a flat white and a cortardo both were perfect, taste, texture and temperature. But the full English took it to a new level of greatness. Best breakfast in Brighton, great produce cooked to perfection. The weekends should start and finish here.

This place was without a dought the worse place I have had so called ( Sussex Breakfast) or as its jnow a English breakfast. Food was cold when arrived, bacon more fat than bacon And the butter beans seem has if they been from the day before.

Very good location and nice deco but a bit cramped with people sitting on top of each other. Difficult to say about the food when all we had was coffee and cake.

I was being harassed by the staff today for asking double shot of espresso and just a bit of milk. The staff got very rude and said that I should have ordered a macchiato instead. They started charging me extra 20p for some .3ml of milk. I have never been treated like this as a customer in my life. The manager of that CAFE was hostile and not very understanding she then got very rude to me and kicked me out. This manager needs to know how to talk to customers politely and be understanding. I feel like I was discriminated in this cafe and I would like to speak to someone who can solve this issue.

Really nice Americano for my wife … asked if she wanted an extra shot or less water when my wife said she didn’t want a watery one. Very nice toast with plenty of butter and marmalade for my wife; 2 small pots of marmalade in fact! My scrambled eggs with toast were amongst the best I have ever had! Also with nice buttery toast. Very polite and helpful staff. Would visit again!

I think I visited on the 19th earlier this month. I came in at roughly 08:30 after the place being recommended by the builders outside (always a good sign). I entered looking pretty sorry for my self and carry a bag from back-packing Europe. The was a loveliest blonde kind barista behind the till who treated me with up-most dignity and kindness. I was so lost and asked her what she would recommended for breakfast, after a cute nervous laugh highly suggested the BLT, then before chance to reply a small panic as she says "wait, you're not vegetarian, you eat everything????" I said yes and took her suggestion. At this point she was all alone and probably too busy perfectly dealing with other customers to entertain my empty head, but she did so amazingly. After sitting outside, the place really started to pick up but she handled every fine and the reinforcements came in the shape of a girl with very colourful space buns. These two delivered a perfect breakfast service (the BLT was grand to, if not already said). The original girl was very conscious and polite and asked if the BLT was ok as well as my coffee! It is only a shame that I do not live in Brighton otherwise I'd be here for ALL the BLT's.

My daughter didn't want to go in, she thought it was "too posh' until she received her coffee and food and then she realised how lovely it was. It is a little on the expensive side but all the ingredients are organic, vegan and or naturally sourced, so I expected that. However the food was delicious, I had the american pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. I always worry about bacon because I like it nice and crispy and this was! I would definitely treat myself again.

The coffee and cakes were average. Very expensive for what you get. There was only one toilet, no toilet paper and the hand dryer was too high (so the water runs down to your elbow).

Today around 3pm I ordered an oat flat white and was given a dairy flat white. I didn't realise until I was at the train station. The staff need to pay more attention :(

Popped into here for lunch on my day out, mainly because it's on the main Queens Road just along from Brighton railway station. I had very nice poached eggs on sourdough toast with orange juice. I thought the orange juice was a bit pricey though to be fair it was freshly squeezed and very refreshing. All promptly served by the friendly staff. A very enjoyable lunch stop.

Came for a late breakfast/brunch and it was lovely. Presented well and eggs were cooked perfectly and great coffee too, a little pricey but was really nice

Went with 3 friends for breakfast and sat outside. You have to queue to order. So discussed my vegan options with the person taking our order at the till. All a bit tiresome as you have to have a set breakfast on the menu and omit items rather than just choose what you actually want, as I was told it would be better value - which is odd. We had finished our drinks by the time our breakfast arrived, so one of us had to queue up again to get another drink to have with our food, by which time it was pretty much cold. I had to check if the milk for my coffee was plant milk as i had asked for… it wasn’t, so it had to be changed. I also had two big portions of butter on the toast of my breakfast, which no doubt comes from lack of communication to the kitchen combined with the fact I had had to order a non vegan breakfast and ask for the non Vegan items to be removed rather than simply get beans, mushrooms and tomato on toast which is what I would have liked. (Not all vegans want falafels and houmous and chickpeas for every meal they eat). Food was ok I guess, but experience spoiled by little attention to detail and overall carelessness. I’m sure this place is always busy, with constant tourist passing trade, sadly customer care does not seem to be such a high priority. With my dietary preferences I would not go back, but I’m sure this cafe is nice enough if you have less restrictions, as it is well placed, clean and averagely priced.

We came here for breakfast on our first morning in Brighton and really enjoyed everything. They put us down in the separate room at the end of the cafe as we had two small children and a pram and it suited us perfectly. I had a full English with extra bacon and we all had coffee and fresh orange juice, while my daughter plumped for eggs benedict. The quality of everything was excellent, including the delicious sourdough toast but I’ve had to knock off a point for paying £12 for three small fresh orange juice and being charged £7.50 for three rounds of toast. Having said that (and having tried elsewhere), I’d absolutely return and maybe be a little more careful when ordering - the ingredients are top notch.

Popped in walking down from the train station for breakfast. Ordered the smashed avocado on sourdough and added an egg and it was delicious. Iced latte was good too!

Fui al Café Coho para desayunar. Se permiten perros en las mesas afuera del frente y en la habitación trasera (adentro). Pedí un BLT y un Chai Latte, ambos deliciosos. Mi marido tenía un Avo Smash en masa madre que era igualmente excelente. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

Vinimos a desayunar con la familia. La elección del menú es muy buena. Todo lo que pedimos fue excepcional con sabores interesantes. Comí los panqueques de bayas y disfruté del sabor adicional de las semillas, las hierbas y los chips de coco. Las tostadas de aguacate, granola y tostadas también fueron excelentes. El mejor café negro que he tomado en mucho tiempo

Excelentes opciones veganas y vegetarianas en el menú. El desayuno que tomé fue tan delicioso que intenté recrearlo en casa. Olvidé cómo se llamaba, pero era pan de pita con aguacate, granada, chicharos y algunos otros extras. Tan sabroso. También ofrecieron una variedad de alternativas a la leche sin lácteos, así que pude disfrutar de un delicioso moca de leche de avena. Mi compañero tenía el BLT y también lo disfruté mucho. El lugar estaba abarrotado, pero el personal logró el distanciamiento social y siguió correctamente las instrucciones de COVID. Sin duda volvería a visitar si tuviera que visitar Brighton.

Servicio lento para una simple taza de té, esperé al menos 10 minutos antes de consultar mi pedido de té ya que otros que llegaron después de mí estaban recibiendo pedidos. . . esperando tazas limpias! Seguramente cuando te sientas cerca del mostrador, así se podría comunicar. Los clientes dejaban la puerta abierta constantemente, las mesas estaban pegajosas y solo un inodoro. No volveré ni siquiera por una simple taza.

Pedí lo que pensé que era un simple sándwich de tocino para el desayuno esta mañana, que aparece en el menú sin descripción y es 3. 50 Lo que obtuve fue un enorme BLT (tres rebanadas de pan) que era algo más importante para el almuerzo, incluidas las rebanadas de tomate crudo que me hacen vomitar, así que tuve que sacarlas todas. Perfect location if u want to have a nice breakfast. Right next to the train stayion.However, not oversized the portion and consider the fact that is next to the train station the price is average.Be aware of that on the full english breakfast the “house beans” means the baked beans is with a cajun spice. Bit wierd but its alright.

Right outside Brighton railways station and one of several CoHo establishments this is a modest, very popular and trendy spot for coffee, cakes, breakfasts and lunches. Good food, counter service, finding a seat can be hit-and-miss at times.

A minute's walk from the main train station in Brighton. Great coffee, friendly staff and good vibes. Worth visiting.

Five of us went for breakfast and all had something different and everyone enjoyed their food. The bread with my eggs benedict could have been less crispy but otherwise good. The coffee and fresh orange juice was very nice. In the room st the back that had some very interesting paintings, and the service was good. I would definitely return for breakfast when in Brighton

I called in today for a late breakfast. Staff were pleasant and welcoming and my coffee arrived within a couple of minutes.

Popped in to get out of the sun for a bit with my mum . Had a salted caramel brownie and a posh apple juice lol. Brownie was fresh, gooey , and delicious. Service great , and good music, en vogue was playing a classic

The coffee was very nice, the atmosphere is very lovely and the staff was friendly. The coffee we ordered came quickly. A little bit pricey and they didn’t have an air con but generally a lovely cafe.

Arrived into Brighton late morning and found this little gem. BEST coffee in UK, i kid you not. Breakfast was nice, service happy and friendly, but the coffee is the absolute best. Nice work Cafe Coho and thanks.

The food was cooked well and mostly tasted fresh (the croissant didn’t). One girl was on the front desk when we arrived. Didn’t even say hello, I had to go back inside to ask for menus and go back again to check if there was table service. Her reply every time was abrupt and not very friendly. The other staff weren’t like this. It’s a shame she spoilt our experience.

Stopped for coffee. The flat white was good but... its only a small place - the coffee machine permanently going, the juice extractor going, and the server behind the counter talking so loudly we could all here her, well I couldn't hear a thing my partner was saying to me.

We popped in for breakfast and ordered combo breakfast, longblack and tea. Drinks were served 15mins before the breakfast. Coffee was tasteless. Breakfast was disappointing.

This coffee house is close to the rail station and so convenient. Better still, the nicely laid out cafe (and downstairs toilet!) serves great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Whilst not tried, the sandwiches looked delicious. Recommended!

Popped in here for a rest and drink on a hectic bank holiday. Team helpful and friendly and had obviously been busy for a while as other local eateries were shut. Brownie amazing. My Coffee was great too thanks guys - much appreciated

You do pay brighton style prices but the food is tasty. The granola was lovely - full of fruit, yogurt, seeds and honey. Gluten free lemon cake. Good atmosphere. Outdoor seating available. Tasty coffee and pleasing service.

As the title of the review says, a slice of toast costed me £3!! Not only that, the service was very slow!

Good lunch with Mr. He had full breakfast, I had eggs Benedict with salmon. Personally I would have liked a half portion , maybe this is an option but I am unsure. It was delicious. Full portion was muffins with 2 eggs and hollandaseee sauce.

A disappointing visit. We arrived at the Café on a quiet moment and ordered breakfast. The waiting time was close to an hour despite the fact that there were only a few other customers present. When we asked for the status, there was no apologies or explanation, nor any estimate on the waiting time. The positive part is that the fresh juices are very nice and coffee is served properly. It just seemed like some employees have a serious attitude problem, as other employees had to cover up and handle the problem.

Ok it is Brighton, ok I like music too, but is it really necessary to have it so loud ?

Just down the road from the train station, this cafe has a great atmosphere. Very friendly, great food, coffee’s good but flat white was a bit too milky - only just avoided being a latte.

Got a bite to eat before catching the train to London. Maple syrup and bacon pancakes were delicious. English breakfast type dish has a odd choice of ingredients but was also good. Good if you want some good food close to the station.

Great coffee and cake....went to toilet...ok and clean. Hand drier far too high on the wall. Would be good for shortish person to dry hair!

Mi pareja y yo vinimos hoy con sus padres y nuestro bebé. Todos somos veganos. Hay una opción vegana en el menú y mi compañero y su papá dijeron al ordenar que no podíamos tener nada más en el menú, ya que al chef no le gustaba cambiar el menú. No nos servirían el desayuno vegetariano sin el huevo. Aceptaron a regañadientes darle a mi suegra setas y alubias con tostadas, pero no se les dijo ningún otro cambio.

Entré aquí ya que nuestro lugar habitual estaba lleno. La elección de pasteles es ciertamente bastante extensa con algunas opciones interesantes. Un cambio tan agradable de las ofertas estándar habituales. El personal era muy amable e incluso parecen permitir en el extraño perro de buen comportamiento. Los veganos no son ignorados, aunque es una opción limitada. Es bueno tener una cafetería alternativa que vale la pena una visita.

There is so much competition in the quality coffee and food sector in Brighton but Cafe Coho in Queen Street today have got it all just right. Excellent eggs Royale, perfect coffee and all served in happy friendly environment.

It was my second visit to this cafe. Would give it 4 stars for my first time but this time it was disappointing. We had pancake with berry and egg benedict royal (salmon). We waited for 30mins to get our food - had to chase for it first. Pancakes was good but the egg benedict wasn't. The smell of smoked salmon was unpleasant and felt like it had been left out for too long - not sure if our orders were done ages ago but just no one took it out?! I loved this cafe because it was close enough to train station and does decent food. But now I'll reconsider it as the wait was too long and the food was worse than my first visit.

Went there to get a coffee and a bakewell tarte to take away. Tarte was quite good, coffee okay, but my cup and lid was all spilled over. Had to wait quite a while to get my order taken even though there was no queue. Then waited quite a while for the coffee itself. I had ordered a flat white and there was one standing right in front of the barista, but instead of having me take it, she waited until a regular customer came in and gave it to him instead (even though I had been there for some time already). Was then quite rudely asked to get out of the way. Would not come back

Great selection of food and drinks but the service is terrible and staff have been pretty rude all three times I've visited. Its my local coffee shop from work but I'd rather walk further and be treated with respect.

The coffee here is good and there's plenty of seating. Plus they serve oatly which is fab for us vegans. However, the service is average. There were four or five staff members working and only one of them was friendly.

Was so looking forward to eating at this cute little cafe, however was extremely disappointed by both the lack of service and the food.

We came to Brighton in the morning by train and this little cafe is very close to the train station which is very convinient. We had very good coffee and the Sussex and Combo breakfast. Everything was very fresh and tasty, the staff was very nice. Will definitely come back when in Brighton!

Stopped for a delicious cup of coffee and sat outside in the sunshine. We didn't have anything to eat but tge sausage rolls and cakes looked really tasty.

We dropped by for breakfast and found this hipster cafe alongside. It has some new ideas of pastries and croissants and juice which are attractive to me. We ordered benefit eggs and pastry with Sussex sausage and coffee. Food are nice, my partner likes the coffee but I think it's a bit mild. It's interesting to see the server makes juicer alongside our seats. Generally a good experience.

Lovely space with lots of light and a very high ceiling. The juices were nice and fresh. The pancakes were honestly unbelievably good - we had the chocolate mascarpone ones - perfect and not your standard recipe. We sampled quite a few dishes over a few visits and for the most part everything was great.

Had a meeting here the other day. Enjoyed the coffee. Enjoyed the service. Not too invasive, music wasn't blaring like many other coffee shops. Will be back.

Buscando un lugar diferente para comer que nuestra habitual (pero agradable) pub, compañero sugerida aquí, ya que está cerca de su oficina y piensa sus desayunos son buenas. Así, tuve remolachas ensalada de queso de cabra y él tenía desayuno inglés completo. Mi ensalada era fresco, con una buena cantidad de hojas verdes mixtas, remolacha, queso de cabra y semillas de calabaza, muy impresionados, tamaño perfecto para el almuerzo y la porción bowl. Supongo que el desayuno estaba muy sabroso y abundante. Menú tabla era detallada, pero a menos que habíamos mirado en el servicio de bar en el camino, poco idea de bebidas no jugo o variedad de dulces. Hay una jarra de agua y vasos para servir a su propia. Wifi disponible.

Conocí a un amigo café antes de coger el tren, pues es muy bien ubicado y muy confusa cuando nuestros cafés estaban en la misma taza, un café con leche y una pantalla en blanco. Como debe ser una pantalla blanca se sirve en una taza pequeña y tienen mucho menos leche que claramente no era una pantalla blanca, pero el café sabía agradable en general y no tienen tiempo para cambiar. El personal es agradable y la comida parecía estupenda (no tenía yo) pero de una cafetería que no saben qué es blanca plana me preocupa un poco ood arte latte

Popped in for a coffee on a very chilly winter day. Coffee was really great - good flavour and well presented. The staff are so friendly here - you really do feel like you are welcome. Service was excellent - would definitely visit again.

We came for tea and cake. Tea was very average (didn't come in a tea pot) the little milk jar had some white, we supposed was dry milk, chunk stuck on the bottom. sponge cake and millionaire shortbread were so so so dry. we won't come back for cakes.

Buen café y un buen brownie salados caramelo. Servicio amable y eficiente. Me encantó el ambiente industrial del entorno y muy conveniente para la estación de tren. Sin duda volveremos a visitar.

Tenía la salada brownies caramelo que eran perfectos, y el sabor empalagoso caramelo salados, también un precio decente por £2. 85. El café también era genial, con una gran variedad de cafés con hielo.

Buena selección de desayunos orgánicos y sandwiches que incluyen opciones vegetarianas y comida vegetariana. Teníamos la comida vegetariana y salmón ahumado/quebrado aguacate y semillas de calabaza en desayunos masa fermentada con zumo de naranja y capuchinos. Capuchinos eran un poco fría, pero sabía muy bien. Los desayunos eran ricos y deliciosos. No es barato, pero vale la pena el dinero, pensamos. Un par de mesas afuera pero en una calle muy transitada y no las mejores vistas. Muchos asientos en su interior. Personal amable. Sin duda merece la pena una visita si pasando a través de la zona o si se hospeda en hoteles locales.

Tenía el pancake breakfast pila con Maple Syrup y tocino que era excelente - Café bueno, no es genial. El servicio es correcto pero podría ser más amable. En general, una mejor opción que en la estación de Brighton, que está a 10 metros de la carretera. ¡volveré!

He estado en este café muy de moda antes y me encanta el macchiatos aquí. Los sándwiches tostados son muy agradables, pero quería probar esta vez el desayuno inglés. Está justo fuera de la estación de tren de Brighton, así que es perfecto para comer el desayuno o lanzar o si necesitas un buen café y pasteles seriamente, debe Concorde. No te decepcionará ✅

Just to be clear, the food here was excellent.. really interesting menu, and well executed. My overall experience today was poor though, I'll briefly explain why: - I asked for something I'd seen on the menu on the website, eggs benedict with mushrooms and Emmental cheese. Was told this wasn't available at this location, though, and they didn't have enough mushrooms to improvise (since I don't eat meat or fish, my options were plain eggs benedict without ham or salmon). - so they then allowed me to order eggs benedict without the ham, but charged me £1.50 for a flat mushroom on the side (!) - also ordered veggie breakfast, to be told they had no spinach or halloumi... (there's a shop right next door, surely when you run out you just run and get some more?!).. but anyway, ordered eggs florentine by asked for avocado since they didn't have spinach... charged extra £2 for the avo. *eye roll* - so I then sit there feeling a bit pissed off that I just paid £27 for two brunches and two coffees, and that the staff were just so indifferent and unhelpful, when my flat white arrives. I'm drinking it thinking it has a really odd taste, when I notice the bubbles on top are rather large, and have a little soapy sheen on. Then I realise, the taste is soap. Sure, I like my cups clean.. but... fair liquid latte wasn't what I was after. Anyway; food finally arrives, brought by the smiley friendly chef who sets the food down and apologises for the wait. Tells me she's chopped up the flat mushroom for me and added some cheese to make the the dish I really wanted (yay!). All the food was yummy, can't fault it... it's just such a shame about the indifference of the staff (in particular the manager, who was basically the 'computer says no' woman from little Britain). We went to Coho this morning for a change from our regular, Mange Tout on trafalgar street. In the end, I wished I'd stuck with what we know. Food is equally great there, but the difference is, they know how to treat their customers.

We had a chorizo and avocado sandwich, and avocado eggs Benedict and they were both delicious! Great selection of quick bites and of breakfasts. Small seating areas though!

A little more alternative than the places normally found around major stations. Decent coffee & food, although not the quickest or cheapest.Anywhere that plays me the imperious Joe Gibbs African Dub with my breakfast gets me in the right mood for taking on the day.

Went here on recommendation from a friends. Very convenient location, so close to Brighton station. Had a very good flat white coffee. Sat in the little back room, which was quieter - a good place for a chat.

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, THERE ARE OTHER COFFEE SHOPS IN BRIGHTON MANAGED BY NICE PEOPLE. This place is an absolute nightmare. Ordered two breakfast and waited more than 40 minutes only to find out our order has never reached kitchen. Still charged for the drinks and not even offered a replacement. Staff was not helpful at all and the so-called restaurant manager was very rude.

I suggest everyone to avoid this place like the plague. We ordered food, paid for it and waited for a long while for the food to arrive. After enquiring about our missing food, they realized they lost the order and called the manager. Okay, mistakes do happen, all we wanted at that point was a proper apology and compensation for wasting an hour of our life. Unfortunately the manager was very rude with his "What can I do about it now?" attitude. We asked for refunds, he only refunded the missing food and did not even offer to not charge for two cups of tea we ordered to drink with our food. He gave us some free coffee cards instead which went to the bin straight away. PS: A lady left the cafe for the exact same reason just before we did - this is apparently a common occurence in the Cafe Coho!

It was very busy when I called in for breakfast but I managed to get a seat near the window. My latte arrived straight away and my cooked breakfast, which arrived about 15 minutes later, was nicely garnished with watercress, which I love. My breakfast was very tasty but could have been just a bit hotter.The staff were all pleasant and the free wifi was fast. There was a big display of lovely looking cakes on the counter and I liked the decor.The only thing I would add is that it wasn't very warm and, sitting at the front, I was very aware of the draught when people didn't close the door.

This is the cafe I go to whenever I visit Brighton.. it really has something for everyone. Pancakes, full English and an extensive selection of sandwiches as well as an array of cakes, flapjacks and drinks.We had the smashed avocado on sourdough - I had mine with feta crumble and chilli and my husband had his with salmon and poached eggs. Absolutely delicious!

We came for breakfast, it's a lovely looking place with lovely prepared food available. I had the house breakfast, which was delicious! My partner had the sausage sandwich. It was very popular, lovely outside space with chairs and tables and blankets too. Staff were very attentive. Definitely be back.

We stayed at the Jury's Inn by the station in Brighton. We didn't fancy a Jury's Inn breakfast, so we walked for five minutes to Cafe Coho on Queen's Street. (There are two other Cafe Coho's in Brighton, one on Ship Street and one on Churchill Square.)The atmosphere was just what we like, local people at tables or getting coffee to go for work.We had a light breakfast, croissant with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes, which was just right. The Union coffee was delicious and service was attentive. There is a fuller menu too.We'll go back whenever we can.

This has now become our favourite coffee shop in central Brighton, which is really saying something as there are myriad wonderful cafes. These are the only good matcha lattes we've had since returning from Japan. The fresh juices are also excellent - always tasting healthy but not too bitter or vegetably! Excellent spot to watch the world go by too.
