Disappointed. Have been before no problems. Birthday lunch today 25/3/2025 with a friend. 40 minutes wait for food had to go and ask what was hold up. One harassed young man serving, at till and tables rushed off his feet. Only one person working in kitchen observed on my trip to the loo. Suggests need more lunchtime cover.

Not sure if the person serving was having a bad day. No communication skills (as if they didn't want me there) with one word answers....bordering rude. I gave it 2 stars as the coffee was really nice but sadly wouldn't go again based on the service (I was only passing anyway). Lots of choice in forest row so think they need to up their game. Prices seemed high also...but wasn't sure if this was the norm for the area.

We hadn't visited Coco's for a few months but we were very pleased to be back on Friday when we popped in for coffee and lunch. There were some new faces to the team, we were made to feel very welcome and the full Coco's were delicious. The proper sourdough toast is our favourite. The music was brilliant, I noticed everyone was having a little sing song together 😄

Coffee excellent. BUT 2 pieces of toast with marmite on costs £4-95!!! It was already spread on the toast when it arrived. No idea if it was butter or margarine as marmite took over the taste. Apparently bread is from bakery in Ardingly but still think nearly £2.50 for a pice of toast is overcharging. I will not be visiting again. Very disappointing

We have walked past this cafe several times when in the Village and it always looked popular so decided to pop in for a coffee. When we saw the selection of cakes on offer we couldn't resist sharing one large slice between us. It was a raspberry ripple crumble sponge cake and was so moist but light. We will be back again soon to sample a different one! The coffee was very nice too!

This was very disappointing. Went for lunch with our grandson. Lunch was ordered and some food was already not available at 1pm. After having ordered we noticed one of the assistants went out and then returned having been shopping in Tescos!! Didn’t expect baked ham out of a packet. Also had to ask for a high chair for our grandson after a considerable time, having not been offered one. I expected better service from a place we have frequented on a number of occasions.

Beautiful and varied fresh to suit many palates, and such a cozy comfortable atmoshere. We were passing through Forest Row and in need of a coffee. There was a free parking space in the village so we parked and walked up the village and found this cafe. It was fairly busy which was a good sign and we ordered coffee and a tea cake each. The menu was extensive from cakes to full breakfast, which is served all day. They use locally sourced, organic and free range products. The prices are reasonable and the food looks great. Our coffee was great hot, tasty and the tea cake was nicely toasted not like some of the burnt offerings you get in some establishments. Overall a nice lunch but not really memorable and I don't think we would return. I had the soup as the quiche was sold out. The soup was a mass of cabbage and barley but very little liquid. It seemed to take a long time to eat and I'm not sure I would do it again. Husband had the squashed avocado on sour dough with poached eggs and bacon. OK but the poached eggs were quite well done and the bacon did not arrive until well after the rest of the dish had been eaten so he was left with 2 rashers of flaccid and not very good bacon. On the upside the coffee was delicious.

Sunday morning family breakfast (Cafe Coco was pretty hectic then) with a mixture of dietary requirements (vegan, vegetarian and gluten free) would challenge quite a few Cafes but Cafe Coco were quite unphased! We were thrilled to find this place, There are a lot of cafes and restaurants per head in Forest Row it seems and all trying to get your custom but most are quite expensive for what they provide. Nice food but on a lunchtime snack who wants to pay £11 for a plate of something when you can find something nicer at half the price. That is what we found in Cafe Coco. We looked at the blackboard outside first and saw several things looking nice to select and then glanced inside at the boards behind the counter and decided we would give it a go.Tables and chairs I would change - not really giving a relaxing or easy environment - the interior we found out was the one thing the new owners (just been there 12 months) have not changed and it, in my opinion, does not do them any favours as it is. They have sorted out a menu of fresh items , organic foods, locally supplied meats and salads were wonderful. For under £5 had a home cooked ham salad and it came as a large mound on my plate with loads of meat and a lovely dressing. My wife had a brie bacon and cranberry sandwich which also came with a nice size salad on the side. We paid for our lunch about half of what we would have done for anything reasonably sized equivalent sized meal.We were delighted with this find for quality and value for money and suggest they spend a little on the decorations and perhaps lose the cups and things for sale in a stand near the door. Decide to be a home cooked and baked food stuff in a cafe serving nice quality coffee and watch the people flood in. Make the decor more restaurant or rustic looking and comfortable seats. We will be back many times.

I ordered a greek salad and it was the best greek salad I have had, loads of olives, feta and interesting leaves. My friend had two poached eggs on crushed avocado on toast. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I'm really fussy and have been known to send food back and to not put up with bad quality but this food was excellent. We also had fresh berry smoothies, mine made with almond milk, my friend had hers with apple juice. I'm usually reluctant to order cake, it's always too sweet for me but the cakes at the counter looked so good I ordered carrot cake. Wow, it was the best carrot cake ever, with a lovely cream cheese topping. The owner said he'd sampled many cakes before choosing that one to sell. I felt that everything here was of the best quality. I also had excellent service, they were so helpful, it was the sort of place that cared, so if there was previously an issue with service, it has been sorted now. Very reasonable prices too. I would definitely go back and thank you for a lovely eating experience.

I am not sure if this was taken over recently but I know my sister said that the opening hours had lengthend as they used to shut much earlier I believe so it is helpful that they are now open longer. I had a very fresh mediterrainean salad and my husband had a three cheese ploughmans he had white bread he did have a choice of two others I believe he would have perhaps preferred a baguette maybe, anyway it was very fresh salad with it a bit strange that the cheddar was grated, when he asked for a dressing for the salad a balsamic was bought out which was fine. The tables and chairs were nice and clean and you could also buy produce such as eggs and oil, vinegar, etc. There is also a toilet which was well kept. The staff were friendly and helpful and we took some cakes away, we had the oat biscuits which were very tasty and I bought a gluten free brownie for my daughter which she enjoyed and a caramel shortbread for my son which he enjoyed the other cakes also looked really good and some different flavours one was I believe apple and blackcurrant which sounded good.

This place is headed south. Last summer was a treat to be at this coffee shop but perhaps they are coming under financial stress. I visited the place with two of my friends and we were told to leave or 'order a lunch' beyond the coffee and flapjack ordered, so as to ensure that the revenue per table was high. It all seemed strange and with the Costa Coffee shop coming next door (a chain that I avoid though), this shop will have a tough battle on its hands unless it changes its attitude. Downright rude serving staff and it was a surprise. This isn't about Ed but the temp staff they hire who aren't the least interested in customer service or hospitality but planning their next move to the Himalayas. Any customer who orders more and eats quickly is a better one. Understandable but the urgency to push customer to make 'choices' is rather pedestrian in its approach. This is Forest Row and ease and rhythm matters. Finally, and this can be confirmed by anyone who quietly wishes to ascertain for themselves, the flapjacks kept on the counter are kept as long as they are sold. The one we saw was on the platter for almost three weeks. Same crumbs and same two pieces. Avoiding this venue now.

Best of all, however, was the service. Tara-Jane couldn't have made us more welcome if we'd been long-lost relatives just back from the jungles of Borneo! Then, having paid the bill and driven on to Sheffield Park, I discovered that I'd left my wallet in Café Coco. We went today and had chocolate chip flapjack which was homemade and a slice of apple and blackcurrant cake which was made by someone else (the cake portion wasnt the biggest) but both cakes tasted lovely

Extremely fresh, home cooked food. Organic coffee was lovely and the cakes and scones lovely. I saw the soup was also homemade and only cost £3.50 and came with bread. Waitress was lovely.

Best coffee shop in Forest Row. The new owners of this establishment have really turned the place around. I am a regular coffee drinker and connoisseur of cake, and this is the place to go if you wish to grace your taste buds with either (and in my case, both!). I have seen many businesses come and go in my time as a Forest Row-ien, and this is one business that I wish to stay. When I'm sat having my morning coffee (and a naughty slice of cake), the staff are always happy to chat and to go the extra mile for the customers. When I do break from my usual baked confection, the menu is full of delightful meals and treats, which are very reasonably priced indeed! This fine establishment is fast becoming my favourite haunt. Would give more stars if I could! Keep up the good work.

The lunches here are good, tasty soups - the tomato is the best! Sandwiches and cakes also nice. Unfortunately the service, whenever I have been in, is so slow even for a single lunch. I do appreciate that it's cooked to order but the wait was too long for take away ordering.

I find this the best coffee shop in Forest Row. It is open, very clean and the food, fresh. The staff is very friendly and the ambience has an air of relaxed charm to it. I love the music they play.

We popped into Forest Row after going for a long walk in the Ashdown Forest. Great decor friendly staff. We had Sausage Roll and Cornish pasty, they were lovely, the lovely young lady asked if we wanted them warm, pleased to say they didn't ping them in the microwave. After seeing the great range of cakes, we gave them a go, lovely Chocolate Cake. Drinks were good. All in all a very pleasant Cafe.

A lovely cafe in a busy little village where you can enjoy a coffee and a cake without feeling rushed. I ordered a bacon, Brie and cranberry sauce sandwich and they certainly didn't scrimp on the filling, delicious. Staff very friendly and efficient. A clean feel to the place. Met the chef Dan who seemed very passionate about food and adding the little extras that really make a plate of food something special. The owner was also in the cafe when I visited and he made a point of making sure that everything was to my liking, he was also chatty without being intrusive. Would like to see a big sticky chocolate cake on the cake display when I next visit!

Ed and his team, have been making my lunch for the last year, I am fussy and request things not on the menu or a mixture of menu options which they have to work out a price for, they never complain, they just smile and say "sure". I have a running joke with Ed as to how quickly the food comes out, often I have only just got my nose in a book and the food arrives! I love it there.

Visited Café Coco because of other tripadvisor reviews. It was a Saturday and the Farmers Market was on. The atmosphere was like a quiet library. I expected someone to shhh me. We arrived around 12:30 and Including us there was just 7 people in the café for most of the time we were. Drinks came quickly but the food service was slow albeit generous portions. I understand why planning ahead for picnics works but I struggle to see how any one can fit lunch at Café Coco into their lunch hour.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden

We visited the Boar's Head Inn at Crowborough today (19/6/24) for a Wake following the funeral of a dear friend. We were absolutely amazed at the wonderful spread that was provided. Both hot and cold food. Well presented and attentive service. Excellent! We have visited for lunch meals on a couple of past occasions and have always been impressed by the variety and quality of the food. Thankyou.

I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.
