Have been coming for years, always enjoy the breakfast, but couldn’t sit on certain tables as they are expecting ‘a rush’ it was 8.45am, we sat on the uncomfortable chairs and waited to see the ‘rush’……didn’t happen Poor all round won’t be coming back.

This café is poorly managed with no apparent organisation. It is difficult to understand exactly what one is supposed to do, on arrival it tells you to see the Host who will direct you to a table….there were 6 members of staff standing around the tills close by who ignored the short queue of people waiting for the Host. Eventually people wandered off to find their own table including us. Nobody came to take our order so eventually I went to the till to place it myself, we ordered a Panzanella and halloumi salad which was the smallest salad we had ever been served and traditional fish and chips, the fish batter was very brown and the fish inside it was badly over cooked and so was dry and tasteless, the chips were sort of wedges, nothing traditional about them at all and were very brown and overcooked. The mushy peas were in a tiny pot and apart from the measly size were acceptable. We returned a little later for some cake and yet again there was no Host to show us to a table and we went to get bottles of drink from a fridge to be told we couldn’t do that as we had to be served with them as then they could bring us glasses, she showed us to a table and we waited for the drinks to arrive. No-one brought us a bill and we almost left without paying as on the earlier occasion I had paid when I ordered and so forgot I hadn’t done the same this time, my daughter reminded me but I can imagine quite a few people just leave without paying. Most staff members returned to the kitchen each time empty-handed instead of removing empty plates from vacant tables, a waste of time and energy and leaving the restaurant looking scruffy. All in all, two disappointing visits and we aren’t inclined to return, the food wasn’t cheap and was certainly very poor value for the money.

This is the second time we have tried to eat here. The 1st time, around a year ago, involved an odd system of a buzzer which would tell you it was your turn to be server (or something like that). The new system involves 1) trying to find a table to match your party size, 3 in our case (5 mins) 2) Try and get a table service person to clear the previous meal away from the table (20 mins) 3) Try to get someone to take your order (20 mins) 4) Waiting long enough for the food to arrive before giving up and wishing you had not bothered (45 mins before giving up) We arrived at 12:15 and still had not eaten by 1:45 at which point we gave up and left as had 3 other tables around us. The table staff seemed determined to avoid eye contact at all cost. I spoke to someone who appeared to be a senior member of staff and was basically told to wait longer. it is completely chaotic. The staff don't appear to have a set number of tables to look after and are not proactive at seeking out those who need a table or to place an order. Once we placed an order we thought it would be nice to grab a cake.. bad move. Another 30 mins waiting at the cake stand. Only 2 members of staff were slowly serving coffee to those waiting The cakes were nice enough. The coffee was ok. These were still a distant memory when we finally gave up waiting for the main course. We told a table server we were giving up and she just went and sorted the bill. No effort was made to go and find out where our food was or to tell us how long it might be. Never again.

First time visit with a plan for lunch. A bit of a queue as expected for a table as table service. It took about 20 mins for the waitress to take our order and a further 30mins for the main course to arrive. Food was top notch and good value. Unfortunately once we finished the main it has so far taken a further 40 minutes having asked two waitresses we are still waiting ! Now 45 mins and just arrived. The neighbouring tables have been trying to get waitress attention to settle their bills. Sadly the great food let down by service. I hope we get tome to wander around the shops/centre…

Was asked to come for lunch here but would not return. The way you have to order and get your food is ridiculous.. I was sent all over to get some food. They need to sort out their system and simplify the process.

I visited yesterday with family. Excellent place to take 3 generations - wheelchair accessibility throughout. Very clean restrooms. Efficient and friendly service including the cafe. We plan to go back. We left with a full trolley and lighter bank account.

Whilst the food is great, the chaotic order system really lets them down. I’m sure who ever dreamt it up thought that it would make it easier then cafeteria style but with people stood over the place in groups blocking access, been asked what you want before you have even been able to see what’s available, getting told things are available as it’s on their iPads but when you get to collect it, it’s sold out and then the length of time it takes for an order to turn up, its just not a great experience. Shame as the food is great and the staff are lovely- it’s just the process lets it down.

Cannot agree with an earlier review as I thought the Roast Beef served today was really good. It was both tender and full of flavour with a lovely range of veg, including cauliflower cheese, a big soft Yorkshire pudding and respectable roast potatoes. Especially worthy of mention is the standard of service. I was intercepted by a young member of staff who took my order on a tablet and gave me an electronic homing device that enables the server to identify your table when serving your order! My wife’s coffee, and cherry and almond scone were both fresh and of a high standard too. Well done to the staff - keep up,the good work! (There is also a table/waiter service restaurant called Greenhouse Kitchen; the review above is for the self/assisted-service option called the Home & Garden Cafe)

This cafe is part of a fabulous garden centre. Beautifully set out and very attractive. The plants all look very healthy and everything seems fresh and clean. Sells such a lot of items that we may need another trip to get round it all. We had lunch in the cafe and found the staff plentiful and very pleasant. Three of us chose omelettes and I chose stir fry noodles with prawns and ginger and honey sauce. It was delicious as were the omelettes and chips. All cooked fresh and it really didn’t take long either. Really like the tracker system, makes things very easy to order and pay. Comfortable seating, although quite noisy round the cooking area, but much quieter at the back. All in all a lovely experience. Love the clothes and accessories too. Will definitely visit again.

A lovely place to visit, huge choice of garden products and much more, but was very disappointed with the lack of gluten, sugar free and dairy free food. For a large eatery with a variety of choice for general people with no alergies, there was very little for those who can not eat gluten, sugar or dairy. With today’s environment and many people turning to veganism and developing certain alergies it would be nice to see more choice for those people. This is just a small negative point, otherwise a great place.

Name changed to Blue Diamond which has increased in size immensely and has a waiter service restaurant and a large attractive cafe with all food cooked on site and available to purchase in their shop to take home. We all enjoyed a wonderful catch up along with a tasty Latte and scone, with many more appetising snacks and meals available. We'll worth a visit.

Been coming here a long time. Use to be a super place for coffee and eats, whilst pennells, belton garden centre the Grange at asfordby, Regards Taylor, The Old Brick Yard, Gates, have all upped their game, some of them with the welcome addition of excellent farm shops and members of The Great Food Club, this place has stood still. Huge change in person ell means it has lost that friendly, helpful atmosphere. No attention to detail or quality. We had sausage and mash, seasonal vegetables. The presentation was appalling, the mash was lumpy the gravy was gelatinous bistro gravy, cold, thrown over the dinner rather than served separately in a jug. The vegetables were awful, overcooked broccoli, frozen peas and carrots, just thrown on a plate. The cappuccino was just frothed up milk with no sign of coffee and stone cold and mothers latte was indescribable she could not drink it. The route to the cafe through the garden centre was far from easy for those with disabilities and when you got there you had to fight two doors, not easy with a wheelchair or for those with walkers. Doors should be power assisted. The cost was outrageous, sausage and mash for two, capuccino and a latte. £24.00 quality awful. Certainly won't be back.

Me and my friends with our babies regularly visit this place as we thought it was child friendly. However obviously we were wrong.Whilst eating our lunch one of he babies dropped a small packet of raisins on the floor. Feeling guilty my friend went up to a member of staff and apologised and was told not to worry they would clear it up later. The children then obviously made the usual mess children do and as we left we apologised to another member of staff who said the same thing not to worry they would clear it up (we saw they had a dustbuster so knew it wouldn't take too long). As we had left the cafe conveniently aware from other customers a member of staff came out and said to us the amount of mess we left was COMPLETELY unacceptable! We apologised and explained however she said we need to know for next time that amount of mess was completely unacceptable. She said this in a very rude manner and made us feel extremely uncomfortable and like we were being told off for something that was really bad! Two of us then went back in and attempted to clear up some of the mess. From now on we will carry a dustbuster around with us but will not be visiting again anytime soon.

I am a regular visitor to this lovely café, occasionally on my own or with my husband, but every week I go with a group of friends all of whom have various disabilities. The staff are wonderful, treat us all with such care, in fact they are all really helpful to all of the clientele. The food is well presented, good value and really tasty, Sunday lunch Roast Beef is very popular and some weeks you may be lucky to get a table. All of the cakes are homemade and are so tempting. My particular favourite has to be the carrot cake, I think it's the best I have had anywhere, it's so moist!

This is our favourite restaurant/pub and after three years of regular visits and superb food every time, I thought it worth a well-earned high-praise review. Apart from the occasional evening event, (they hold special themed nights from time to time), it's generally lunches we go for. The quality of the food is consistently high and the service very friendly and professional. The menu is understandably quite small, given that everything is cooked to order but seems varied enough for most tastes. Despite the high standard of cooking and produce, the prices are very competitive indeed. It does get quite busy some days despite being a bit off the beaten track, so best to book if possible. There is a large secluded back garden with seating, (where they hold their events), and a good children's play area. The building itself is still an old unspoilt country pub and serves at least two different real ale. Can't fault the Plough at all really.

Lovely place, lots of beautiful things in the garden section and household. Wonderful Christmas dept for decorations and lights to beautiful gifts. Unfortunately the breakfast in the cafe wasnt as good, we tried the avocado on toast for breakfast, and it wasn't up to much one piece of toast with a small dish of avocado which really didn't look appetising, , and really wasn't up to much at all , we left most of it. Advice try something else

Food was good however the customer service let the evening down a lot. The food order was taken wrong, understandable. We were charged for the more expensive one, unsure of the difference, I asked about this that was met with the manager being rude and giving us the 50p difference. Not a singular apology, especially with one of our meals arriving when the others were about finished. Ordering deserts was met with more rudeness from her and the whole interactions tainted our evening. After a few times of visiting here we won’t be back as would feel uncomfortable with her service again.

Owner shouted a lady out the pub after she went to the loo. That is not what a respectful staff member should do and I’m disappointed that that would happen in the local pub.
