Visited here today and will definitely be visiting again,the breakfast I had was amazing value with really good quality bacon and sausages and the service is excellent the gentleman told me.they had not long taken over the business, they really do deserve to do well because so much effort as definitely been put in,much better then all the big chain eateries that are in town

A cafe that has changed from a cafe and patisserie to a cafe with mexican style food. A classic breakfast, generally good, sausages outstanding bacon a bit too crispy and dry. Coffee very good. Service ok, made one mistake but can be forgiven as simple communication error. Also, told i could not have a chai tea at that time - mid morning. Very odd. Think this place is ok and main menu looks appealing.

Came here a long time ago when it was a surprise patisserie with very good cakes pastries etc. Good value and almost unrivalled especially at this end of the town. Looked in for the first time in ages this week only to find that although they have some cake and stuff they are now offering a good value knockabout breakfast in a friendly cafe.

I come here quite often, whether with my girlfriend or alone, always have the breakfast. Everyone I've suggested this place to enjoys the food here. Great food at great prices. The breakfast isn't at all greasy like Jakes across the street.

I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast. We had full breakfast & coffee for a £5. Bargain & it was lovely! We had to tell the chef! Friendly staff & had to give a tip for good service!

Visited on a recommendation and have subsequently been back. Food is basic but really good and great value. Staff make you feel welcome and served in a timely fashion. Will definitely be back and recommend to others

£5 for a classic all day breakfast which includes two sausages, 2 eggs, 2 bacon, has brown, beans, thick white toast and a tea/coffee. Excellent value, presentation lovely and good food. Will visit again

The cafe is a little cheaper than if you eat in the centre of Plymouth. Nice varied menu, perhaps some things are a little pricey. Outside, there is a chalk board saying that you can have a cooked breakfast and hot drink for £5. We asked if we could have a veggie breakfast included in the deal, and the lady was very abrupt and unaccomadating (it would be about £9 in total for the vegetarian deal). The lady serving us was rather unfriendly and unhappy to be serving us, however seemed very smiley with the other staff. When we first entered the cafe, we almost left because she was so unwelcoming.

I visited here with my friend for brunch and the food was amazing! We ordered the eggs royale and everything was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. I ordered a fresh strawberry juice and that was delicious and I could tell it was fresh fruit that had been used. 10/10 would definitely recommend to anyone.

Chicken was cooked to perfection and staff were flexible to provide me with extra salad rather than the chips. Service was efficient, polite and friendly. Meal was reasonably priced and is good value for money. What more could you want? A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. Will certainly return to try other tempting options on their varied menu. Every time I come here, the food is cooked so well! The fry up and coffee for a fiver is such a deal. You’d expect to pay £10 + anywhere else with this quality.

we were holidaying in St Ive's and went to Plymouth for the day, we called in to Cafe Bistro 23 for lunch, we saw people sat outside which drew us to it, we were really glad we did as the service, food and coffee were spot on, the staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was good, we would highly recommend, hubby had all day breakfast and I had beef Thai Pan, it waslush

sat in the cafe with my.wife writing this just finished my breakfast absolutely perfect proper food very well presented generous portion of everthing fresh and cooked perfectly coffee was presented amazing and tasted incredible air con temprature just right music volume perfect staff very friendly everything was perfect could not ask for more will now be a regular in here. can't wait to come back

I popped in here this morning as I forgot to eat breakfast before leaving home. As far as I was aware it was impossible to get a decent vegan breakfast in town.

Great bacon benedict with perfect poached eggs. Nice decor, clean, pleasant staff. A steady flow of customers whilst I was there. Definitely visit again for breakfast and try lunch sometime.

After several visits now and with each one achieving the same high standards, I felt that I had to write a review so as able to let other people know what a little gem of an eatery this is. The staff are helpful and very pleasant, the place itself is kept extremely clean, the menu is not extensive but there is more than enough choice to keep everyone happy, the coffee is very good and lastly may I suggest that when you do go, to try the Eggs Benedict. We have made this our favourite "Go To" café when in town. Keep up the good work and please do not let your standards slip.

I went to this cafe bistro about a month ago but didnt get around to writing a review.However after going there again and the food was just as good I decided that I better get writing.

Been here a few times now when i visit Plymouth and the food is always very good.

We were back in Plymouth and paid a return visit to 23. A few subtle changes have been made since our last stop and they have certainly enhanced the experience. Familiar faces gave us a friendly welcome and Menus were provided. A good selection of Food & Drinks are available as is Free WiFi and we decided upon Baguettes of Chicken Mayo & Mushrooms with Halloumi which came with Salad and were both freshly prepared. Drinks of Latte & Cappuccino rounded off another pleasant & enjoyable time.

This is one of those places you would walk past but this is also one of those places that the food and prices are so good you almost don’t want to tell everyone in case something changes and I want to keep it as my little food happy place. Their food is amazing, coffee is excellent, staff are so friendly, their cakes are fantastic and prices are good. I’m taking mum mum and gran their tomorrow. If ever I am in Plymouth I make a point of going for food. I suffer awful with my digestion but never have an issue with their food. Love this place!

A pleasant town centre cafe with lovely looking desserts I never get to because the meals are so good n flavoursome, every week! In fact the meals are so tasty some of the locals asked for it to be toned down aha!!

I visited today for lunch and ordered a chicken burrito, it was very tasty and filling, excellent value. The only disappointment was no cakes in the chiller cabinet. Lady behind the counter was friendly but was on her mobile phone all the time I was there.

I noticed that this cafe serves all day breakfast so decided to give it a go as fancied a late breky! The atmosphere was lovely, the lady serving was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered two classic breakfasts that included either a soft drink or a hot drink. The food was absolutely delicious, could tell it was all local ingredients, and it was beautifully presented! The value for the breakfast was amazing, best breakfast I've had in Plymouth by far. Will definitely be coming back!!

My wife and I went shopping in Plymouth and went to this cafe today (26/01/2018). It provides a variety of types of food, including Thai cuisine. However, we were interested in having a Pad Thai. The meal was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and plenty of it to fill you up. I could not believe the cost of £6 each, which is tremendous value for such a great dish.

Probably the best breakfast in Plymouth! The mushrooms and tomatoes are delicious! Great value for money, friendly and welcoming staff. Good lunches and the cakes are just amazing!! Especially the Oreo cheesecake! 😍😍

After seeing the reviews my wife and I decided to try out this cafe for ourselves. We popped in early for breakfast, and we were not disappointed. The food was fabulous. It was cooked really well and the sausages were the best I have tasted for some time. My wife prefers scrambled eggs and she is rather fussy, but they were also excellent. I would consider the breakfast offer as really good value and would recommend Cafe Bistro 23 to anyone who enjoys good food cooked properly.

If you do one thing in Plymouth you need taste Cafe Bistro 23's puddings and cakes! I have never tasted anything like it, the flavours and technical detail is amazing! You will not be disappointed and if you anything like me order 1 of everything of the menu because believe me you will keep wanting to go back for more.

I have been to Thailand many times, tried a lot of Thai places around the world. Ok Thai is my favourite food, lol. But this little gem in the heart of Plymouth just took it to another level. The food is authentic, the ingredients are fresh and this chef really know what he's doing. Will come back for sure. Best Thai food in Europe so far

Always good food in here, I’ve had lunch a couple of times before but today was a cooked breakfast, 2 sausages 2 bacon 2 eggs, tomato, beans, toast and a hot or cold drink for £4.50.

Popped in on a whim for a piece of cake and a coffee. Lovely interior, very friendly waitress and a delicious selection of cakes to choose from. Had a lovely cappuccino in a big cup (the Department of Coffee cafe in Bristol could learn a thing or two from here) & a scrummy mixed berry meringue roulade. Absolutely delcious, well worth a visit.

On the off chance we went in this little cafe and had an all day breakfast it was delicious and the coffee was hot and tasted like coffee the seats were comfortable and the service was top rate .Bighly recommended

We have been going to this cafe for some time now and ive been nervous about writing a review because it is so good im worried we wont ever get a seat again. I live on Torbay and will travel just to eat there. I am gluten free and they actally remember me. I do not believe the chef is real i think he may actually be a wizard. I can actually say this is the BEST place i have eaten and i have saten in some of the best places across the country (not all but some). Please head down and try this amazing food. Just hope if you do there isca seat for me.

Delicious lunchtime meal of omelette and chips. Service excellent and cafe warm and inviting and comfortable. My next visit will be to indulge in the amazing looking desserts!

Eggs benedict were fabulous, my husband had the large breakfast which did not disappoint . Lovely and clean great value for money, will definitely be going again.

Love this place staff are lovely, food is amazing even down to just bacon sandwich all there salad dressing are made fresh the mushrooms are just to die for yum yum, best latte going and fresh smoothies, but most off all the cakes all I can say is WOW please if you go past looking for somewhere you have to try hear you won't be disappointed this place is mine and husband little treat highly recommend

I have been here twice within the last month and each time has been a pleasure. The setup of the cafe is really nice and you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the decor, which makes for a nice atmosphere. The staff are always very helpful and super friendly which makes for a great and relaxing experience! Alongside this, the food is always so tasty and brought out within good time. I have enjoyed both dining experiences here and will definitely be going again. It is without a doubt a gem within the city centre and I would 100% recommend going here!

Just the break away from the office I needed, the coffee's great and the staff are warm and charming . You don't feel rushed and the service is genuine

Visited for the first time today and was impressed with the quality of food and service. We were giving a very warm welcome. Great to find an independent cafe in Plymouth,that we will definitely be returning to. I can recommend the ham and mushroom omelette. It was delicious. My husband was well impressed with the chefs own made hot chilli sauce.

We were on a Marathon Shopping experience and needed sustenance. We hadn't been to 23 for some Eight Months and were well pleased that nothing had changed. We were welcomed by mine host as though we had been regulars and we had Coffees and Cakes. Flat White Coffees and a Sublime Individual Chocolate Cake each. Excellent experience and great value for the hard earned Pound.

A very good breakfast that was very tasty! You get a hot drink and toast (2 slices), 2 bacon, 2 sausages and 2 eggs and beans for £5.50! Not greasy at all and the coffee is very good! Will definitely be coming back

We wanted a breakfast and tried to find somewhere near the market. By accident we found Bistro 23 and had the best breakfast we could have hoped for. The eggs benedict were truly amazing and my wifes sausage sandwich was a work of art and delicious! It is quirky, very clean, lovely staff, great prices and we will definately be going back.

The third time we have eaten here and the whole experience is fantastic. The cafe is clean, tidy, stylish and bright and the staff are attentive, polite and friendly.

A small but clean and pleasant place to eat. There are many places to eat within the centre of Plymouth but none with high quality food at a reasonable price. This Bistro has only been going for around six months but has plains to expand. The staff are always friendly and smartly dressed with a high standard of hygiene. Well done to all the staff.

I'm surprised I haven't noticed this place before but we did today and gave it a go for lunch. Not disappointed, from start to finish it was great. Good friendly service, lovely food too. The desserts looked amazing but as the portion size of our meal was so generous we simply couldn't eat any more.... may try a takeaway dessert next time though! As I say we didn't taste any, but we were assured they were all made on the premises which to my mind makes them extra special too... a delightful small business, no chain store stuff here!

When my wife and I go on a trip, as with everyone, we stop for a tea break, we don't go looking for somewhere nice, the places we go in are places that leap out and grab you, as this one did, what a lovely place, such beautiful cakes, that I fought hard to resist, due to old age health reasons, the lady in the cafe was so helpful and pleasant, with the loveliest smile, she gave the impression that your custom was valued, and that my wife and my instincts to go into the places that grab you are still spot on, lovely place, lovely service, lovely lady. Thank you.

Relaxed atmosphere with friendly service, good coffee, nice eggs Benedict, but the highlight has to be the cakes which are really are very good.

I went in for a nice breakfast. Ordered my breakfast and within minutes it was ready. Gd quality. Services always with a smile. Best place to have a nice lunch and dinner.

The waitress staff are excellent very friendly and helpful. The food quality is good. The actually cook is rubbish been here a few times and all ways something wrong with order or items missing all together. If the cook upped his game this place would be 4-5 stars

Visited Cafe Bistro 23 with my mum whilst shopping in town. Stopped for coffee and were able to sit outside with our dog and chat to some regular customers. Great value for money, friendly staff and bought a delicious cake to take home for Dad. Came in a pretty carry box too. Nice to support local businesses rather than big chains. 5*

I went to cafe bistro on a whim and discovered the food was passable, but the staff themselves were frosty. I found out, through careful application of being able to hear anything louder than a whisper, that the staff didn't approve of me visiting their establishment with my partner. I am in a gay relationship and the staff disapproved to the point where they were insulting us in the kitchen while we tried to enjoy our meal. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it seems impolite, not to mention unprofessional, to be airing this while your customers are in the restaurant.

I was here for the first time a few days ago, the staff are attentive, the food is superb well worth waiting for as they cook everything fresh, see you again guys

Popped in today for coffee with friend. Staff were really friendly and polite. Coffee was lovely. Bought cake to go..was packed in a nice box. Only gave 4 rating as the cake was dry on the sides. Need to protect cake from drying out or cut it fresh. Will definately visit again

We visited this amazing bistro last Thursday which was their seafood night. We had been looking for a really good place to eat within a 10 mile radius of Rock where we were staying. Alnmouth is but 6 miles away and it was well worth the 20 minute drive. Polite and friendly staff, efficient service and food fantastic. Downside, it's only open Wednesdays and Saturdays with an al a carte menus and then Thursdays for seafood but there is a meat dish on the menu if you are with someone who doesn't like seafood. However, this buzzing place is open during the day everyday so well worth a visit even if you can't get there for dinner. I would definitely recommend a visit. It's definitely on my Must Return List! Incidentally book is essential.

Discovered this new cafe a couple of months ago. We now go on a very regular basis as my husband who is an eggs bennedict connoisseur says its the best he has ever tasted. I have a cooked breakfast and it is lovely.

Had a really nice lunch I am a fuzzy person and they catered for me wot I don't like and do and for a place to do that its just incredible excellent food and the drinks are great too and cakes are fantastic always served with a smile thanks Lillian and staff xx

Delicious food, presented professionally. The Homemade drinks were awesome. Great prices, plenty of choices. A great atmosphere, awesome service. Felt like a restaurant vibe and very relaxing. My friend and I shared some cake as we were getting full. It was amazing cake! I will be bringing other friends back here.

We popped in here for brunch one Saturday morning a couple of weeks ago, because we'd heard it was one of the best breakfasts in Plymouth. We weren't disappointed. Both my husband and I had the classic breakfast, which includes a cuppa, and our son had eggs Benedict with a caramel milkshake.

if its just for a breakfast or coffee with friends this is the place to go the cakes are a joy and they have different ones each day.The price is good and the quality of the cakes is wonderful ,I will be going back again.

Had to try the classic breakfast and we weren't disappointed. The ingredients were of a high quality and their own-recipe sausages made on the premises were amazing!! £5.50 with a tea or coffee included - what more could you ask for!! The place was clean, airy, not cluttered and very relaxing. The almond pastry I had was beautiful and very light. Their selection of cakes are like works of art. This place is a must if you are looking for quality, good prices and amazing cakes!! Will definitely be back soon. Well done Lilian and staff xx

I give this Bistro a 5 start rating. The best roasted vegetable panini in have ever had, latte was very hot and frothy Amazing baguette with steak and onions. Desserts and smoothies are outstanding. Very friendly and welcoming.

I've been here a few times now, as a family, alone, and with a friend...The staff are always really friendly, the place is always clean and the food is always really tasty. So nice to see food freshly prepared with consideration and care for the ingredients. If you could just expand your gluten free offerings a little more I might just move in :)

Saw this place in the local paper so thought I'd try it for breakfast. Paid for parking and went in at 9AM. Told by staff that chef wasn't in for another half hour and the coffee machine wasn't ready so I'd have to come back. I left having wasted my money on parking rather annoyed. Surely this must have been a one off blip.

I have visited Cafe Bistro 23 on three occasions now and every time I received good service and great food. The first two visits were for coffee and cake, and their cake selection is fantastic - lots of choice, beautiful to look at (some of them are works of art) and extremely tasty. The last visit was for lunch but we all chose to have a breakfast item for lunch. I thought I was opting for a smaller meal by having the bacon, sausage and egg sandwich but was impressed when it arrived and had 3 slices of bread and was packed with all the components. Plus a small salad on the side. One of the best value breakfasts I've had in Plymouth. Definitely recommend.

We were looking for a snack style Lunch whilst carrying out some business in the City Centre. We had been to Bistro 23 on two previous occasions with mixed results, so decided to try a third visit. Glad we did because as the old saying goes - Third Time Lucky!!!! We had a Bacon Baguette and a Sausage Baguette with a Flat White Coffee and a Good Old English Cuppa Tea. All were served by a polite and pleasant waiter and the Quality of the food was very good and tasty. Great Value to top it off. Certainly a vast improvement on our previous visit and shows that anyone or anywhere can have an off day and if this happens........give them another chance it can pay off.

Just had the amazing Italian chicken grill, 2 big chicken breasts with fries. My fiancé had bacon carbonara, which was also amazing. I will recommend this place to everyone. Awesome food, served quickly and staff are friendly and professional. Coffee is great too and the pastries look awesome.

In a hopefully up and coming area of town this place is very much worth a look. I passed by very lucky accident. I love French patisseries and the offers in the window looked fantastic. I braced myself for the disappointing taste but it did not disappoint. Every layer was perfect with the excitement of not knowing that each element had more depths. In short my perfect French Patisserie in Plymouth?!

Friendly staff, really good quality food, fresh decor and a fair price. In fact one of those little places that I hope doesn't get really mad popular and pump up all it's prices. Defo worth a visit.

Not a phrase I'd use lightly but the food here is amazing - The spicy chicken burger was gorgeous! The homemade cakes are to die for and would keep me coming back everything time to try something new. Lovely atmosphere to eat in, with really friendly staff who couldn't have been more attentive! Can definitely recommend this to anyone who visits Plymouth.
