Cafe Bella in Spelthorne

I visited here for the first time despite living here for 10+ years. I decided to go for some lunch as I fancied something different from a traditional cafe and wanted to support an independent trader. We chose a toasted sandwich of brie, bacon and cranberry, sweet potato fries, a beef burger, a cappuccino and a lemonade. I was rather disappointed and found the food a little underwhelming. The sandwich, on what appeared to be ordinary sliced wholemeal bread and fries cost about £13, which I felt was rather expensive as the overall taste, presentation and ingredients were very average and the fries were rather salty(salt can always be added by the customer if needed).The burger again was very simplistic. While I can't remember all the individual costs of the food and drinks the bill came too just over £35.00, which for what we had felt was quite pricey. I feel they could make some quick and simple tweaks to the food, which would elevate it into a more 'premier' product which their price point suggests. Overall the inside is great, the choice of seating areas is interesting and different, also having an alcohol licence is great but the food could be improved to offer better valve for money.

I have walked past this Cafe on many occasions without stopping but no more this cafe is easily the best in Ashford although not massive and not overly busy excellent for a quiet drink and chat without being too noisy and annoying

This is a little gem had lunch with a friend and plenty of choice on the menu staff friendly and professional will be going back the food was amazing

Called in to Bellas for a takeaway coffee yesterday and liked the layout and vibe so much decided to try some brunch with the family today. Was not disappointed! Lots of options on the menu and the food was exceptional. Will definitely go back for both breakfast/lunch and even just a relaxed coffee. Well done Bellas 🙂👍

This was my second visit. Friendly service, great food and the coffee is amazing. A lovely spot, can’t wait to come back. The full English I had for brunch was a triumph!

Second visit to Bellas and again I wasn’t disappointed. Ordered the banana and Nutella waffles which were divine! Also had a pink chai latte which also was very nice

2-1 happy hour cocktails, great value. Food really nice and freshly prepared. Staff friendly, great service

The cafe is very small and customers feel like they’re on top of each other. I wasn’t a fan of the food either unfortunately. The sausages are not so great and the scrambled egg was not cooked to my liking at all. I have tried the crepes from here and they were delicious. Also lovely staff but shame about the food.

I ordered starters & mains for 5. Great staff, polite, chatty & efficient. They even rang to tell me it's ready for collection. The food was hot & delicious. The Calamari was amazing. Cooked to perfection. All round great service & great food.

We have visited before and can recommend the coffee, the atmosphere and the staff are friendly. We decided to have lunch and the menu was quite extensive. However the baked potato was barely warm and the omelette was light and tasty but the chips were overcooked. We will visit again but unsure we will have a meal.

I went to Bella's in Ashford for the first time with my friend who recommended it as a great place to eat. It was a nice day so we sat in the courtyard. Was table service and the food and drinks arrived quickly. This review is mainly for my food. Wow! I had a chicken bacon and avocado salad. Usually places are quite scarce with their portion sizes or loads of salad and struggle to find the extras, but at Bella's I had loads! Huge chunks of fresh avocado, at least 4 rashers of nicely cooked bacon sliced in and beautifully cooked chicken breast, which was also generous amounts. It was drizzled with Bella's special salad dressing. All just perfect AND very reasonably priced too!

I would take a packed lunch with you so that you have something to eat whilst waiting for your order to arrive. Service unsmiling and not customer facing. Not one we would go back to

I never even knew this place existed until yesterday but I will certainly be back. Fabulous food and wonderful ambiance.

We used to go here at least 3 times a week as the service and food was great but I can’t see us choosing to come here that often. A few weeks ago we were served our drinks only to wait 45 mins for our food - there was only two other couples in the restaurant ! The next time we again got our drinks but our food order had been forgotten. The third visit we had to wait nearly an hour for the food and again the place was quiet. We never complained and yesterday I went back just for coffee and couldn’t believe what I saw - the waitress bringing orders out not knowing which table they were for, a couple beside us had drinks but finished them before one of them received their food, the other person received their food after the other one had finished. Another couple received a bowl of french fries but no drinks and no main food order and decided to leave. The service was at its best when the previous 4 waitresses were employed but they’ve all left. Come on Bella don’t get complacent and lose customers !

My boyfriend and I come here mainly for coffee, the breakfasts we found small portions for the price they charge-especially the vegetarian breakfast and not very filling. I would like to more healthy options like the Acai smoothie bowls ? the new decor is cosy with the arm chairs but some of the furniture is a bit bulky for such as a smaller space. Service is very good

I was waiting for a service few minutes nobody even come out to the till. So I went to the Costa. I have seen some Lady in the kitchen. Have some hope that she would come and serve to me but she filled up a glass of water and disappeared in the kitchen. Probably they have a nice food but terrible service. They are not able even a notice a client in the restaurant. I am not going to recomende it to anybody.Never again.

I had been invited to meet with friends to this gorgeous cafe! I fell in love with it!!The decor and furnishings are wonderful and the outside area is just perfect! My daughter had a massive milkshake and we had panini’s and fries... all hot and extremely tasty.Prices are extremely fair and I will most definitely be recommending and returning on a regular basis.Staff were also lovely people and very welcoming.

We were a party of 8 for a late lunch on a Saturday. We ordered a variety of dishes, I had the Bella’s Steak Sandwich on toasted Granary bread and a Flat White. The beef was perhaps cut a little thick but it was nicely seasoned and I loved the addition of pickles. The flat white was perhaps a little over but I’ve had far worse. The general consensus was that it was tasty food at a decent price but perhaps the service could have been a bit more attentive.Really not bad though and we’d definitely return.

We go to Bellas on a regular basis, as it is small and we knew it would be busy we reserved a table for 5 people on mother’s day at 10.30. Arrived at 10.25 with my disabled mother to be told they had our table booking but had basically given it to someone else!! What!! They had no excuse, Ed have no chance of getting in anywhere else on mother’s day, I actually cannot believe it, they are obviously all about money making and have no loyalty to bookings they take, I will not return to bellas and I will never recommend them again! Thanks fir ruining my mother’s mothers day!!!!

This is a small cafe/restaurant with an eclectic mix of furniture. Unisex toilet but it’s clean. You order at the bar and they bring your drinks over. It’s a nice place to meet up for coffee or a glass of wine. The wine choice is quite limited and it’s just what you get in a the local supermarket. It would be good if they served a decent house wine not from the local supermarket. Food looked good and it was very busy with take aways and seated guests. Limited parking outside.

We found this quirky little restaurant on an off chance while looking for somewhere to have breakfast and were pleased we did. The interior is an eclectic range of furniture from comfy leather armchairs and a full suit of armour to chandeliers and benches. Although not a huge menu there was enough of a selection from mushroom on toast, full English, which we had and was freshly cooked big and tasty, eggs benedict, and crepes. A little pricey but well worth it.

Delicious food, great wine, cosy surroundings and attentive, warm and professional customer service. It's worth coming to Ashford just for this little place.

I've popped in here a few times for lunch. They have a great selection of sandwiches that offer something a bit more interesting than the chain coffee shops- available in a selection of breads. The salad selection is great too. Today I had a haloumi, avocado and sundried tomato ciabatta. It was excellent. My cappuccino was perfect too. They were really busy but the staff were relaxed and friendly and I found a table with comfy seats easily. It was a lovely way to spend my lunch break from work!

Squirrelled away for a couple of hours today. Amongst the double coffee franchises and dire pubs of Ashford this is a lovely hideaway for cosy coffees and tasty treats. Need to try the halloumi fries next! Excellent value for money. Lovely decor and attentive staff.

Simple and cosy, very relaxing, good food and friendly service. Need no more on this raining day.....

We love this place! Quaint interior and dedicated staff. Great coffee and milkshakes. The traditional breakfast is of great quality AND quantity. Try the halloumi fries, they are fab!

Over the years I've occasionally popped in here for a coffee, but today I had a really delicious bacon, brie and avocado panini with my latte. The whole place has been extended since I last visited, and is much improved. Very nice decor, comfortable seating and there's even a garden out the back. The menu is extensive and far from expensive. The staff were very friendly, although I had to wait a while for my order to be delivered as there had been some confusion with new staff. One waiter looked the spitting image of a 1940s matinee idol, dressed in his dark trousers, white shirt and neat black hair! The manager was very friendly and chatted to me.

Went in for breakfast with some mates and was good clean food service with a smile and food came quickly and was up to expectations

Nice place for brunch. Had healthy shake. Cosy and classy decor, friendly waitress.Will come back again.

Had lunch here twice now and highly recommend. The sandwich are big enough to share as are the portion of chips ... however the milk shakes and iced coffee were absolutely gorgeous, the best I’ve had for a very long time . Recommend to my daughter too as she works nearby and she has been too and will be back.

Bellas is a little treasure in Ashford.I have eaten here 3 or 4 times. You have to order your food at the counter and then it is served to your table. I can recommend the jacket potatoes and sandwiches are excellent too. Highly recommended.

A lovely atmosphere for a casual get together with friends or family, however when I ordered, the waitress was very grumpy and slammed food down on our table. My Drink order was incorrect and no one was very willing to correct the mistake. Along with all of this when my food (I had ordered a fajita and fries) came, it was swimming in grease and had ingredients that had not been listed on the menu and I didn’t like. It would be a lovely for a tea or coffee shop but they had clearly taken on too much and weren’t doing it well.

Buena comida - siempre frescos y particularmente un buen café y un buen servicio, el personal es amable y se adaptan nada en el menú a su gusto si pueden. Pequeño pero bastante una distribución peculiar- te sientes como si estás sentado en la sala de alguien, estantería y todo! Pequeña zona en la parte trasera que se puede sentar nuestra si el tiempo es bueno. A menos que éste está cerrado es el único café que vamos a en Ashford ahora.

Visitamos con amigos y familia y parece tan agradable de fuera y no estaba lleno, pero los precios de mis hijos y el desayuno era increíblemente batidos caro. Parece un café en ashford tan cara y puedo entender por qué sólo pocas personas estaban allí. Uno de personal parecía amable, pero no la otra, ya que no fue recibido o reconocido cuando nos íbamos después amablemente pagar la cuenta

Very taste lasagne for good price. Nice and friendly place. The lady was recomend lasagne was very nice.

Curries here are amazing and has been for years, lovely to sit in but great take aways too. Only off road parking some right outside some round the next street mins away but well worth the short walk or park in Railway station car park.

Cuando nos quejamos de que burger estaba equivocado el director supe por años dieron argumentive llevaba comida de distancia y me dieron dinero. No hay oferta de cocina otro. Su director es muy grosero.

Excelente servicio, ambiente relajado y amable, delicioso desayuno y café. El desayuno completo utiliza magro salchichas y beicon. Buen aparcamiento cerca.

Fuimos allí para desayunar con mis dos hijos y pedimos 3 crepes, café, zumos y 2 viene a el coste de 25 libras. Crepe con tocino y huevos revueltos, era insípida. Hubiera sido mejor ir a la parrilla de oro!

Si estás en Ashford, Surrey esta pequeña cafetería/restaurante cerca de la estación es el lugar de encuentro ideal. El café es excelente y a un precio razonable una amplia y variada selección de platos y aperitivos fríos y calientes.

I have been here a quite a few times, for breakfast and for hot drink/smoothies and every time no complaints and a good experience, the décor looks bright and chic and even has an outdoor space at the back and 2 tables at the front but sadly its mostly occupied by smokers. Food has been good quality and reasonably priced. I love the fact when you order a hot drink it comes with a biscuit :-) . Staff are friendly and approachable and always grateful with your custom no matter how little or how much you order ( compared to other places in my experience). I would like to see more healthy smoothies available ( currently have one: oats, granola and honey) and gluten free options but also to open later than 7 ( maybe 8.30?) during the week as I meet up with friends after work and this would be the perfect to go. Perfectly located within 1-2 minute walk to the station.

Quiet cafe , conveniently near to the station. It is better value than the opposition and serves good coffee and food. The decor is clean and attractive. The cafe also opens into the evening several times a week.

Recently refurbished to look more classical and authentic. I preferred the previous more modern look though. Excellent coffee and tasty treats, very expensive though. Central London prices. Good bookshelf and excellent outdoor space at the back.

Tried to call in at 18:03 Saturday night. "we're closed" came the slightly aggressive cry from the semi gloom.Update your website and the opening hours sign on the door if that's the case !

Shame I wasn't told when I booked that it was cash only Shen I had produced my credit card. I had to find some cash and had just enough. It was my birthday and spiked the moment.

My favourite place in Ashford for a coffee. Beats the chain coffee shops hands down! The food is good too. We love the cooked breakfasts and the sandwiches. The milk shakes are delicious.

Husband and I popped into Cafe Bella, didn't even realise it was there. Lovely coffee. Will definitely be trying it in the evening for a cocktail. You can even hire out the venue. Great.

Visited this off main street near Ashford station..food especially breakfast menu is only cafe around thats decent quality ..scrambled eggs are best I've ever had.

Decided to stop by this Cafe for a sandwich after a friend recommending it. Really wish I hadn't wasted my time the service was and quality of food were awful. I ended up taking my sandwich back and asking for my money back. The manager was incredibly rude at this point and was clearly more concerned about his dented pride rather then his service standards and good quality. Avoid at all costs

I loved Cafe Bella - we used to go down nearly every Sunday with the family and have one of their breakfasts, which was delicious. However after the refurb, the staff have been particularly rude (especially the lady) and the management don't seem that bothered about customer loyalty either. Go to Jenny's next to m2, they are really friendly, food is good and you don't feel you are being ripped off. Little things like refusing to swap mushrooms on a fry-up with tomatoes, but charging you an extra 30p for said tomatoes and not bringing the mushrooms out. Two plates of scrambled egg on toast and two cups of tea came to £15!!! (Wouldn't just charge for the egg and toast, it became a full English breakfast with other items deducted. Bizzare. When I asked to see the management I heard a man's voice out back saying that this was their policy. A real shame, used to really love it there. If you're with someone not fussy then it's great!)

Hadn't been here for a while but we were always guaranteed a good cup of coffee and an excellent panini.Hopefully today was a one-off but the panini I looked forward to seemed now to contain mayonnaise and my wife's sandwich was overflowing with it so she left half of it. Next time we'll make sure to check. If you like mayonnaise you'll love it.

Now called Bella and re-launch on 25/07/14. Inside completely re done in a lighter airier feel with white tables and chairs in the main but also leather type single seats too. One part of the wall is converted into a large bookshelf and the effect is unique for a cafe! Menu caters for most needs but no pastries! The breakfast was excellent and very fresh. Independents like this one win over any chain any time. So use and you'll not be disappointed.

Cafe bella has changed its name to just "bella" the cafe has had a complete refit and i must say its been done very tastefully, rather like a grand French design, new white wooden flooring which gives a much larger look and feel to this small cafe ,the small back garden has had a refit to with very nice chairs and low tables and a hexagonal gazebo in the middle , my friend and i sat out in the back garden i just had a cola and my friend have a very nice coffee it was very plesant , i see that there has been some remarks on here from some people not liking the attitude of the owner saying about his arrogance and politeness ,this i have not come acrossed. Most times if not all times that i have been in here the wine is good and the snacks are very nice , very nice cafe and wine bar for Ashford !

I am a regular at cafe Bella and it is a nice coffee shop. Much more affordable then others in the area and can sit outside when the weather is warm. My only suggestion would be that they offer a few more hot dishes. I would definitely bring friends or colleagues here for a coffee.

I agree with a previous reviewer - thank goodness we have Café Bella in Ashford. The food is always great quality and good value. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is so much better than any other café in Ashford. The owner and friendly regulars all contribute to making this place unique - it's the only café I now go to when in Ashford. Naturally, it's a popular place and so there is sometimes a bit of a wait for food at lunchtimes; it is all freshly prepared and well worth waiting a little longer for occasionally.I was surprised to read the review by CF - "competition within a few hundred yards" - can only be referring to a couple of greasy spoon type cafés, that are certainly not competition - they are completely different and no doubt cater to a different type of clientele. You don't have to be particularly discerning to concur, but then it doesn't sound as though CF is discerning, just complaining. As far as I and many others feel - there is no competition for Bella's in Ashford. I think most people recognise the importance of supporting an independent café as opposed to one of the chains.

A good breakfast but pricey compared to competition within a few hundred yards. It appears to be trying to be more upmarket but food is on a par with competition yet service is not as good. After finishing no-one took away the finished plates and tables are also very small.Also disappointing was that despite a huge proportion of the menu being taken up by crepes we had to wait 20 mins for a crepe as they had to make up some more mix.Still the bacon was nice and in general the traditional breakfast was excellent.

The coffee is always good. The food both sandwiches and hot plate are always freshly prepared for you. Yes their is Costa around the corner but this private coffee house is always with a visit

Tasty food. Really decent breakfasts with quality produce for a good price. Sandwiches are good but perhaps a little space for the price. Coffee is decent, both espresso based and drip, friendly service and comfortable atmosphere.Nothing to write home about but I'm certainly glad we have Bella as a local as there is a dearth of decent cafes in the vicinity.

Our local cafe. Always a friendly service and excellent coffee. Their sandwiches are awesome (BLT is best ever) and the burgers are brilliant - try the Chilli Con Carne Burger. Nice cocktail menu with a good variety, good wine and beer selection. Local cafe, used by locals, served and owned by locals.
