we visited recently, great choice of cakes, the carrot cake is especially delicous. I had a mint chocolate milksake and it was amazing. The staff were friendly and accomodating and the kids play area is a bonus.

Having left another understaffed place because they told us of a long wait, we tried Aspire, despite its small selection of food that appealed. When we eventually got to the counter we were told that there would be a long wait for a simple sausage bap because there was only one person in the kitchen! By that time all the seats were taken so we just bought a snack at a nearby supermarket and ate at home.

I went here for a hot chocolate and found to my delight you can have cream and marshmallows for no extra cost! Divine and very reasonable, lovely packs of biscuits also. Other food seems reasonable also. Friendly service, went out of my way to go back today for same.

Lovely pies for lunch and baked potatoes you could feed an army with or if you want something sweet cakes to die for especially the orange or the toffee , or lovely light snacks cheese scones that you can taste the cheese in and huge toasted teacakes I have had the ham and cheese toasties with nice bread and good ham and plenty cheese. Or nice coffee in nice cups i don't think there is anything over £5 i visit weekly

I visited here with friends last week. The staff are very friendly and engaging and the coffee was hot fresh & tasty. The millionaires shortbread I had to go with it was gigantic, deep and appeared to be home made. Total cost under £3.50, well worth it!

I had to give this place 1 star because I can't give it 0. My daughter & I decided to eat here while shopping in Wallsend. When the assistant finished serving the person in front, she turned away and busied herself with other things. 3 staff members knew we were waiting to be served and they all ignored us. We stood for a long time waiting to be served and being totally ignored. Eventually we walked out and when I looked back the girl behind the counter just looked at me and wasn't the least bit bothered. This has to be the worst customer service EVER! Why would they ignore customers? My advice to shoppers, don't bother with this place.

When to the Red Lion for dinner, staff very pleasant, bar area nice and spacious and generally clean ,that’s where it ends ,myself and wife sat at table no 42 facing the corner opposite, where four dogs were congratulating with there owners ,lovely dogs ,so lovely they had a dogs water bowl on there table ,the dogs sat on the seats next to there owners ,and even due to the fact that the owners put dog blankets on the seats ,the dogs just walked over the seats ,I do believe that the dogs found the tables ok for there use ,but call my old fashioned it was not acceptable to me and my wife ,please note iam not saying anything detrimental about the dogs they felt at home ,you may ask the question why I ordered the meals in this situation, one reason is that my wife does not like confrontation,so I kept my mouth shut ,the meal my wife wanted was not available so she chose another ,I chose Irish burgers Wow wow What a pile of rubbish ,mind you the dogs kept looking over at them ,but iam not cruel I love dogs ,would not like the vet bills if they ate them The icing on the cake was when my wife went for the salt she picked it up and low and behold they had not put the bottom on ,this in due course allowed the salt to pour out from the bottom ,method in there mad ness more salt kills the taste no complaints This is fact oh and do not drink the beer unless you like warm flat ale

Staying nearby stopped off for a swift drink, good service & clearly popular as quite busy, loved the bare stone walls, the flowery paper looked liked something from the 60’s lol

Visit this pub frequently with family and live in forest hall. It’s a lovely pub and we always call in for a drink on a nice day when walking the dogs. They’re friendly and welcoming to all of us, and we always get what we want. It’s a pub, so you get what you bargain for - we normally get two pints of Stella, and large glass of wine and a fruity cider of some sort. We usually get like snacky food to share, nothing too high end. Anybody giving this pub a low rating, for honestly can’t understand why (unless they really dislike dogs). There isn’t a waiter, it’s all bar service, but it’s honestly lovely and always and the staff are always more than happy to help

Me and my wife had a fabulous Sunday dinner here today, the staff were fantastic, especially the chef Bobby and Charlie front of house, would highly recommend and we’ll be back!
