This is an amazing cafe. Lovely freshly cooked food. The gluten free menu is amazing. I don't know how the chef makes is gluten free pastry it is the best ever.

Little bit of a wait for food and a little pricey but service was great and it’s a lovely atmosphere! Dog friendly too! Wouldn’t say it’s suitable for big groups as it’s a small cafe and more of a cosy 2-4 people situation.

Great place for a drink, snack or something more substantial. Happy to pay cash for a bill under £10.

Hello, lady with the 3 year old here. Off the back of your reply to my friend. I'm utterly disgusted by your response. "Silliest review", "sabotage" you say. I am from Stafford and had traveled to Leek to meet a friend, the weather outside wasn't the best and my daughter needed the toilet so you were our first port of call. I had asked a young lady who was a member of staff as I first walked in if it was okay to use your toilet to which she responded politely and said this was okay. After waiting as discretely as possibly could in your tiny cafe the lady who I assume to be maybe manager? Had ask once again how she could help and I said my daughter just needed the toilet. Yes you were polite upon first response but soon you seemed quiet annoyed that I didn't follow your request to use the chain café. I could hear the hand blower going off and knew the occupant.... (YOUR members of staff using the toilet whom probably wasn't in there that long - Maybe just an excuse to make me leave and use the chain cafe?) Wasn't going to be that long, so I stayed put. Still you insisted in repeating, use the chain cafe and getting more and more rude the more you spoke. I can't quite remember what you said because quite frankly I haven't felt that uncomfortable to be somewhere in such a long time and wanted to avoid any confrontation which seemed to be where it was heading from you. As far as micky takers are concerned... I don't believe you could seriously look at a 3 year old who was standing incredibly well and quietly such things. As for sabotage, I'm literally from Stafford, I couldn't care less about sabotage, I'm sorry that your bad manners has gotten back to you on a review. As for Silliest review, I'd be really greatful seeing these kind of reviews to avoid any kind of hostile environment you give. And as for the glares yes, unfortunately you were caught glaring at me and my daughter as we walked back passed your shop window near the tills. If I was a business and genuinely didn't realise I was rude or seen that I had upset a potential customer, I'd apologise immediately not call their review silly. This just highlights to me that I did read the room right and you're not an overly nice lady. Reply to you... Unfortunately I believe you're the one who does not remember correctly. I could hear the hand blower going. Which meant your member of staff. Who was using the toilet. Who came out of the toilet. And asked me... Hello are you okay? Can I help?... like any member of staff would... then proceeded to work. Wasn't going to be very long in the toilet. We used your toilet. The only inconvenience was your attitude. Once again I'm shocked to see a reputable business not owning up to their mistake or well bad attitude.

Beautiful little family run cafe & food was fantastic, every time I visit from Manchester this is my first stop as never disappoints & is my kid’s favourite pit stop. Such a welcoming environment, we can not wait for our next visit.

The rudest café in Leek. I've heard from a number of friends and family that the owners and staff here are incredibly rude and sadly can confirm the rumours are true. My friend from out of town asked if her 3 year old could use the toilet here and was told yes by one member of staff. Whilst queueing she was questioned by a second member of staff and very very impolitely told to go over the road to the chain café instead as this is a small independent business. Apparently letting a small child use the toilet is too much to ask... didn't realise it was £5 a flush. Don't worry! We will absolutely be going anywhere else and telling all our friends and family about the hostile environment there (not that many of them bother to go in as they've all witnessed you being rude on other occasions). Stupid making enemies in a small market town as had you been more polite my group of friends would have happily called in later for a meal and drink. Don't worry, we all saw you glaring at us as we merrily took ourselves off to The White Hart instead, where they were very happy to have us. Unlike you they actually have a [edit] *decent* vegan menu and friendly staff. [Edit] Note several other reviews on here saying you've been rude or impolite and maybe take it on board.

Leek has some fantastic cafés, but this is my favourite. Food is fantastic, the staff are always warm and friendly, and they cater for those with dietary needs. They have a vegan menu and cater brilliantly for those who are gluten free. Their breakfast is an absolute must!!

Excellent freshly cooked food, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. A wonderful independent local business, who we visit regularly. Personal favourites are the ham, brie & cranberry panini and their amazing frappes. 100% would recommend a visit if you're in Leek.

This has to be the best cafe in leek, i love it here. The staff are lovely and chef make the most delicious cakes and the menu is certainly going to have something on it for everyone. You may have to wait at certain times of the day when its busy but who cares! The end result is worth the wait, I miss coming over reading my book and enjoying a pot of tea and sit in peace

All the usual coffees. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. As I was only in for a quick drink, I didn't try any of the cake but they look nice enough to try out next time I'm in.

Just popped in for a coffee. Clean premises, friendly staff, good coffee. We sayt alfresco in the sunshine. It was all rather delightful.

An excellent experience in every aspect. The food was high quality and delicious. The menu was extensive and offered a huge amount of choice for coeliac customers. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The dining room was spotlessly clean as was the toilet. We cant wait to return.

Visited today at lunch time, ordered 2 Quiches for myself and my wife unfortunately my wife found a hair in the Quiche showing it to the waitress who took it away and asked if she would like another to which she replied yes please waitress takes contaminated food to the kitchen and speaks to the chef, she then returned to say we’ll give you a refund as my wife had requested another we thought she would receive another portion after a few minutes i then asked if she was having another Quiche waitress replied no we are giving you a refund, I found that absolutely appalling customer service having visited on many previous occasions I will never visit again my wife didn’t even receive an apology when going to pay at the till I was told we’ve knocked off the Quiche as your wife didn’t want another one the waitress replied she but the chef said no totally rubbish customer care, at least there are lots of other cafes in leek to visit Cafe Apollonian get your all together😡

Absolutely ❤️ Cafe Apollonia. It's local, accessable, great atmosphere AND most of what they have available is or can be gluten free. Great if you want a coffee and cake or something more hearty. Thoroughly recommend the GF pancakes 😋 Thanks Georgina and the team for making us feel so welcomed 🤗

My husband recently discovered he is gluten intolerant and we were recommended to visit this cafe for the range of GF choices they have - it did not disappoint! It was so refreshing not to have to have such a small selection of GF dishes available m. There was also lots to choose from for the kids, really friendly staff and a nice cafe environment. We’ll be back!

Second time visited today last one was just after lockdown, and it did not disappoint the food was absolutely amazing, the freshness and taste wow, a little gem of a cafe that is quality.. I ordered the bacon and chicken mayo baguette with a caramel frappe, the staff was friendly even rushing out to buy more ice 😀 now that's a great service thank you so much

Chose the £10.95 breakfast. The waitress happily took my order - ‘no tomatoes or mushrooms’. The chef refused to serve without these items - apparently said ‘suggest you order something else’. Poor woman (rude chef’s wife, I believe) said, ‘couldn’t you just have it all and leave what you don’t want’? That’s never happened before - avoid if you have an allergy (the breakfast comes with an egg - go on, I dare you, ask the question) or are just plain fussy like me :(

Love this cafe - it has a nice upstairs area with more seating (including some comfy chairs and sofas). I have had sandwiches and oatcakes here in the past and both have been good. Tea is always really nice here - they have a loose leaf tea which is very good. The cakes are excellent too, definitely recommend. The only improvement I would make is to speed up the food service a little (not too much, doesn't need to be super fast), but the food service is very slow so you can't go there if you're in a hurry!

Staff address the guy in the Kitchen as ‘Chef’, ‘Yes, Chef’, ‘Ok Chef’… Well.. the chef can’t cook a basic breakfast.. bacon and sausage were rock solid. Paid 11 quid for a breakfast and I asked for toast as there was none. Only to be shafted £3 for 2 slices of toast on the bill… won’t be back.

Superb place ,great honest and tasty food,friendly staff it's an oasis in a dessert of global tastless group offerings. Definitely recommend a Ray of Sunshine to visit and enjoy the food.

Very pleasant café with a great ambience in the heart of Leek, and one of the few that is still open on Mondays. Went for a light lunch of oatcakes, cake, and coffee. The oatcakes (cheese and sausage) were very tasty and generously sized. The cake (coffee and walnut) was also very tasty. The coffee was excellent and in very big cups. The service was friendly and fast, and the choice of food was broad, with a range of gluten-free and vegan options.

Since I moved to Leek I have been calling in regularly after trying other cafes in town This is such a friendly , fun filled place and the food is great Georgina, Ed and all the staff are so friendly, warm and welcoming and all prepared and served with love The best in Leek 🔥🧡🙏🏻

Expensive for what it is, vegetarian breakfast didn’t have any meat substitute, hash browns or toast. Very long wait times the last few times I’ve been in there, staff are friendly.

I visited with my mum for coffee and cake. The cake was absolutely disgusting (not a phrase that passes my lips often!). It was raw in places - which I pointed out to the waitress. She offered us a slice of a different cake so we accepted. She came back 5 mins later and said "He says he won't give you any more cake" (I assume he is the owner or manager). I've never been treated so badly as a customer. There's plenty of lovely cafes in leek so we won't be returning - I'd recommend No 5 cafe and The Spout.

Travelled from Chesterfield today to sample the gluten free food. Didnt get chance, arrived 10 minutes early, knocked on window to confirm they did GF food, the lady in there said they were closed and couldnt hear because of her music, she then turned her back to me and carried on looking at her phone. Totally put us off so went elsewhere

We went here last Saturday for breakfast for the first time. We had a large one and a small one. The food was beautiful and the staff were really lovely - looking forward to going back to try lunch! Thank you all for a perfect breakfast :)

Very rude staff, not normal for a coffee place, a very strange way to treat paying customers, who will not return.

I expected this place to be mediterranean, yet it is not. It’s your typical English cafe food (quiches, paninis, jacket potatoes,) nothing that particularly stands out about it. The orange juice I ordered was bottled artificial stuff, not freshly squeezed, which was a shame. However the service was good and I did enjoy the breakfast.

Visited yesterday for drinks and toasted tea cakes. I thought I’d been overcharged so asked the person behind the counter, who I assume was the proprietor, who explained that we’d had extra butter. I pointed out that the butter initially provided was virtually liquid as it had been over-melted and was therefore unspreadable. I was blamed for not pointing this out when I’d requested a bit more butter. I showed the butter wrappers as evidence but the person remained smugly defiant and declined to rectify the overcharge. I found her attitude unacceptable and won’t be going there again.

A1 food, service and value. From entering the friendliness was infectious and the place was spotless. DO NOT MISS THIS GEM. LOVELY!!! 🙂🙂🙂

We were staying in Leek this week for a wedding and went into Apollonia for breakfast. The staff were really welcoming and cheerful. There was a great choice of breakfast options. The food and service was excellent. Everything was lovely and clean. Can definitely recommend this cafe .

Café Apollonia is a brilliant place to go for excellent coffee and a food menu with sandwiches, panini, soup, homemade cakes and scones. There is also a Specials menu. Sandwiches are served with a green salad, coleslaw, crisps and a slice of orange. Everything is prepared freshly by the chef. The cafe is on 2 levels, ground and 1st floor. The stairs may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Toilets are located on the Ground floor. It is a friendly, relaxed, popular café and you will always want to visit again.

I came across this lovely little cafe with my parents and my dog after a lovely weekend in the Peak District. Oh wow that a little gem it is! The owner was amazing, so accommodating to my fussy coffee order (the coffee was amazing too!) and the teacake was one of the nicest I’ve had. Next time I’m around the area, I will definitely be back. X

Whilst I am sure the food here is lovely I have to feedback appalling treatment this morning by the owner. The door was open at 10am and I went in to wait for my friend. Another lady followed me in. We were told we couldn’t come in and had to wait outside as they weren’t open. I said ‘oh but on your website it said you are open at 9am’ to which the owner who was standing at the counter shouted ‘it’s my business and I decide when I’m open’ needless to say myself and the other lady went elsewhere and neither of us will be going back!

I have had a vegetarian breakfast here a few times and have not been disappointed! The chef is very particular about the quality of the produce and you can definitely tell. The staff are exceptional with an attention to detail, which I have not experienced...

Disappointed. Tried to book a table to be sure of a seat as I'm disabled. They wouldn't allow a table to be booked yet we saw table signs with 'Reserved' on them? No table available when we arrived, after trying to reserve? Not impressed.
