Cafe 68 at Cycle Heaven in York

Bought a new ebike from these guys. Great service and overall customer experience. The bike is grand but if anything goes wrong I'm sure I'll be looked after.

Ace cycling cafe, shop and workshop just off the river in York. Delicious food and indoor bike storage.

1st visit. Cracking breakfast and roll and bacon. Both the roll and the bacon were delicious. Really busy but excellent friendly service. Will be returning. Really good value for such quality ingredients.

In 2018 I tried to buy a gazelle heavy duty NL, waited 18 months and gave up when lockdown hit. Sometime 2023 I tried to get them to build me a wheel with a hub dynamo and rollerbrake. They entered it on the workshop computer and said they would get back to me. They didn't, so when the battery ran out that winter I called them again, this time also requesting a replacement 7-speed hub, and they said they would put together prices for new wheels or rebuilt wheels. They didn't. In May I called them and extracted a pricing, asked what the lead times were like, they said 2 weeks to order the rim, I called back in 2 weeks, no progress. By calling other suppliers I discover that the rollerbrake hubs are hard to import. But the difference being, the other supplier gave me a straight answer within a few days. Now I've driven to Manchester and bought a whole new bike, the other shop set it up and let me try it, and helped me put it in the back of my car, and I'm very happy. I really tried to give you my money, cycle heaven.

My partner dropped bike off day before like requested for job doing next day, went to collect that evening and job not done! Had part's required. So very disappointed that job which it was booked in for not done & especially when had the parts. So wasn't happy having the job not done & wasting his journeys If you read correctly you see I said my partner. It was Bishopthorpe road shop. My partner sent them a email complaining, which couldn't reply to him neither, which is poor yet again poor customer service. Also moved the seatpost up 4 cms as well for some unknown reason. We stick by our true review. You need to do job asked by customer and not change bike postion without owners permission

After being told by gloomy consultant I should avoid running, my husband and I researched bikes and elected to visit Cycle Heaven. Piers was quite simply amazingly helpful both times we visited, I did not feel rushed or intimidated by my lack of knowledge of a new sport. Had plenty of time to test ride and when we decided on a Cannondale E Bike to enable longer rides, this was customised for me and delivered within a week, despite us being out of the area. Outstanding service and a lovely bike - thank you so much Piers!

Cycle Heaven is one of a number of great cycle shops in York. The main branch at Hospital Fields is an Aladdin's cave with an extensive range of bikes and accessories. The workshop staff are always helpful and knowledgeable, as they are at the other branches. There is a cafe on site.

On a cold and VERY wet March day we decided we needed a hot drink and possibly some lunch, the cafe in Cycle Heaven was our choice, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Homemade fresh Potato and Broccoli soup, roasted vegetables, houmous and halloumi sandwich, served with side salad, homemade coleslaw and handmade crisps. Oh my goodness, the flavours were gorgeous, place was spotlessly clean, and staff friendly. Definitely worth a visit even worthy of a small detour. Sadly we can't add photos of the food as we scoffed the lot.

Chilled out place went there for food was surprised to find a big hair In my fry up and when I pointed it out to a member of staff he took it away and brought it back 2 mins later and said he removed everything from the plate the hair was touching , well thanks 🤣 I get a hair In my food and because of that you remove food 😂 couldn’t be bothered continue with saga but was amusing, apart from that nice place

Wonderful Service and Lovely Staff. My bike needed a lot of work, and they were able to get it all fixed up and order special parts in all with a quick turn around. Wasn't a cheap fix but for all the work the price was nothing to quibble at, and I got some vouchers out of it. The guys who were there when I picked my bike up on Saturday morning we're very friendly and helpful. Would defiantly recommend.

We went on a long walk and arrived at Cycle Heaven at dinnertime. Its always a good sign when the Cafe is full and now we know why!! My wife had poached eggs on sour dough toast which was cooked to perfection. I had a bacon and mushroom ciabatta roll. The roll was lightly toasted and also cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and I wouldn't hesitate to again. Keep it up!!

Fabulous cafe. Spacious, clean, very dog friendly, muddy human and dog friendly too. And dare I say it, wonderful clean toilets. Oh yes, the food and service is good too.

Large choice of bikes, clothing and accessories and a cracking little cafe too. Plenty of bike and car parking. Short distance from cycle track along the river Ouse into York city centre

My recent experience was to purchase a new bike (and a bit of equipment) from Cycle Heaven through a cycle scheme. I purchased a Marin commuter bike from the Fulford shop in November. The bike was probably towards the lower end of the price range of those they sell but I still felt I was treated as well as I would have been if buying the most expensive bike. The service from all at the Fulford branch was brilliant, from helping make sure the bike was right for me, the general advice and the friendly service. Subsequently I’ve just had my first (included) service at the York Station branch and again the experience was brilliant from start to finish. From booking, reminders, explanation of the service, some general advice and again the friendly service. Thank you for providing such a great service.

Travelled from Harrogate to have my Brompton checked over and workshop staff were really friendly and helpful especially as it’s my first Brompton and was given some extra tips/info on looking after it. I also thought getting a text when it was ready to collect was great and it even had notes on what had been done. There was a friendly dog around the workshop which makes me think it’s a nice place to work too allowing staff to have their pet come to work with them. Highly recommend will try and always use cycle heaven when possible 👍🏻

Edit: Review was for the cafe, apologies for the confusion. Friendly staff, nice and quiet but food is expensive. Nearly £15 for an average breakfast with warm bread (not toast) and latte. £10 or thereabouts would have made it a good breakfast. What's wrong with round plates? I

The two Reise and Muller Nevo’s have proven to be a revelation. Fantastic all round bikes for road and trail. After two and a half months and 700 miles we couldn’t be happier. I collected my new bike yesterday and just wanted to show some appreciation for the guys that work here for an excellent service. I have to give a special mention to Piers who went above and beyond. I'm 6'8 and 20+ stone so as far as customers go, not the easiest. I rang up to order a bike that I thought was suitable only to be told by Piers that what I wanted probably wasn't right for me. He took the time to do some research off his own back and reccomend a bike that was ordered and in stock within a week. I rode home yesterday from York to Beverley and the bike is absolutely perfect. I will use these guys again even if they are nearly an hour away from me. Thankyou very much.

Took my bike in for service/repair. Because i didnt want to pay the price quoted, they returned my bike in a worse state than it was when i delivered it for service/repair. Angry.

Wonderful place, completely lives up to its name!! We are quite new to York and have been made to feel very welcome - super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. As a (very!) novice bike rider this place has helped get us started and feel confident using our bikes - eg today a staff member mended my sons brake and adjusted his bike for him; someone else kindly answered all my questions and helped me find what we needed, making sure we were well set up to use our bikes. Huge huge vote for the cafe too - absolutely amazing as we are both coeliac with additional allergies, but the cafe staff looked after us so well, they were able to cater for us and we felt completely safe and had a lovely lunch!! Thankyou everyone!!

Am excellent cycle shop with some fine machines

I just wanted to say thank you to the lovely man who was in the workshop on Thursday 29/12/22 (I'm sorry I don't know his name) who thought me how to change the sealant on my gravel bike and to Matty for looking at it and his advice to get it sealing properly. My tyres have stayed inflated! Thank you both so much for helping me get to grips with the maintenance of it as I'm not confident in practical tasks so I was so proud to fix it myself. Thank you!

Ashley helped me pick out an e-bike, was honest, professional, provided me with helpful advice, and made the process very quick and easy. In and out, and chose the bike I wanted in 30 mins. 5 stars. Dealt with Piers as I was picking up the bike, he was also fantastic, he gave lots of helpful advice and took time to explain everything I needed to know. Also used the workshop on occasion, and they're great too!

A really great choice of everything cycling. Loads of bikes of all description EXCEPT no electric road bikes - but - the assistant did say they will be getting some in the future.

If you buy a bike, you can drink coffee later. A very large selection of bikes.

Visiting with my 2year old the man who served us was excellent. He took the time to talk to my son and helped us get the best fitting helmet. The customer service could not have been better. Updated Sept 2022: Not a cyclists cafe: The food is good but isn't what you need if you are on a long ride still no mugs with handles! Service good and friendly. I asked for a mechanic to check my rear derailleur which they did found a frayed cable and replaced it while I had cofee and toast.

What a genuinely superb bike shop, we were camping locally and my wife had a puncture, cycle heaven managed to fit us in with only 1 days notice, repair the puncture, adjust and lube the chain and check the gears. All done in the same day for a great price, superb service, many thanks.

Knowledgeable advice when choosing a new bicycle

Good parking outside premises. Went in to check on ebikes prices and availability. I was guided through what was best for me and had a test ride, very impressive. Great experience, would definitely recommend a visit. Also has a cafe located in the building, although l haven't tried this facility.

What a fantastic bunch of people. I wish this was my local store. I needed a specific side stand for an old Gazelle Dutch bike. These guys responded quickly to my email, sourced the part and shipped it to me for the cost of a pint. Brilliant service and I'll be paying them a visit in person next time I'm in York.

I have used Cycle Heaven for a few years now, having bought my beloved Ridgeback Meteor from Bishy Road shop as it was then. They have looked after me service wise ever since. The team are always helpful whichever store you use. Recommended.

I started to use Cycle Heaven after being let down time after time by another business in York. Cycle Heaven have been outstanding right from the start: quickly diagnosing issues on my bike, communing on the progress of repairs and have charged fairly. I fully recommend.

This was my first visit today and I'm thoroughly impressed by the service and staff. I've been looking for a new saddle for quite some time now and I've really struggled to know which one is for me, until today. They were able to take my measurements and suggest the ideal saddle for me. They also said that if it isn't comfortable I could pop back and they could look over my position on the bike and suggest any changes that would help and they'll also accept an exchange within 30 days. I've not been able to fully try out the new saddle yet but from my limited riding so far it seems pretty good! I would definitely shop here again and I'll try to pop in to try the cakes too!

Yesterday (Saturday 26th June) I collected my elderly (25 yrs old) Brompton folding bike from Alistair at Cycle Heaven's workshop. I am really pleased with all the work that you've done for me. The rear hub (complete with Sturmey Archer gears) has been rebuilt, including a new axle. New handlebars, bottom bracket, cables and chain were all required as it had become a complete wreak! To be honest I was dreading just how much all this would cost - but was very pleasantly surprised! I have been a customer of Cycle Heaven for over twenty years and have always found them knowledable, honest and friendly during my visits at all of their outlets. Good shop, better staff and just a general great atmosphere

I had the good fortune to buy a new bike this week from Cycle Heaven. Initially I only called in for information, but after a series of events the planets aligned and the optimum bicycle was available. I just have to say, what great service from everyone I encountered with special thanks to Alison And Rebecca who were so patient and knowledgeable. It's my first ever purchase from cycle heaven as I usually only use another LBS, but I'll definitely be back.

YUMMIEST food I've had in a long time.

A little bit disappointed with the customer experience, I had my bike serviced about 2 months ago with cycle heaven and rang up to ask a question about loose pivots and potential threading issue as I can not loosen or tighten the pivots. I was treated in my opinion quite rudely and basically told they are busy and I would have to book another service. I have no problem with being busy and having to book a service later - I would have just hoped for a little advise and willingness to just spend 2 mins to advise me on whether or not this was checked in the service and what impact this has on the safety of the bike etc

Just to say thank you to the staff at Hospital Fields for the quality of the service today. Rebecca was very patient with two very excited ‘older cyclists’ who were picking up their new Gazelle bikes today. The hand over was superb with lots of patience and knowledgeable experience. Can’t tell you how excited we were. Ordered the bikes in July in the middle of a pandemic and waited six months. We were so excited, I’m NOT sending em to Santa, sod it we’re using them tomorrow 🤣🤣😂 Just to say, service as always was fantastic and we will be back in six weeks time (Covid permitting) to have the bikes serviced/checked out for the first time. I bought an Elite Suito direct drive trainer, unfortunately when I got it home (Manchester) there was a few issues. I contacted the shop and within hours Piers and Samuel had organised for a local bike shop to fix it. Hassle free, its not often you'll experience customer service as good as this.

Very friendly, decent stock at a time of general bike shortages!
