This is our fifth year staying in Cadgwith after we discovered it while walking the coastal path. This little shop by the beach always has the freshest fish and seafood straight off the day-boats, brought in by the fishermen, and is excellent quality. In fact we always take home a large bag full at the end of our stay which the shop will pack up to your requirements. Unreservedly recommended.

Certainly the Best Crab Sandwich I have ever tasted and I have tasted them in Maine,California and the Hebrides.Beautifully presented in a delicious sauce by a lovely pleasant lady and prepared by her Sous chef/husband/partner. Thank you so much.

This was the best sandwich of my life! Fresh mackerel with lime mayo in fresh brown bread with lemon. Enhanced by the magic location almost on the beach with fishermen wandering in. Far superior to anything in central London at twice the price! Several reviewers have criticised the lady, but I found her very pleasant and friendly. Maybe some visitors should realise that down here we have a much more relaxed , ’manana’ attitude and locals aren’t going to instantly jump to attention for them. Thank you fishermen 🦀

I popped in to the shop to buy some crab and asked the lady if she would save it whilst we went for a walk, of course it was no problem, it was delicious! I phoned the next day to ask her to save some more crab for us , we had it for our last meal in Cornwall. Friendly shop, lovely seafood.

Had a Crab Sandwich and a Lobster Wrap for lunch yesterday. They are exactly what you would expect great food to be, extremely fresh ingredients presented simply without any fuss. Both the Crab and Lobster were beautifully fresh and succulent and the lime mayonnaise complemented the seafood perfectly. Only one minor issue, the prices on the chalkboard outside showed £10 for a Crab Sandwich and £11 for a Lobster Roll, but we we charged £12 and £14 respectively. It’s totally understandable that in the current climate the prices are increased and I had no issue paying the extra but I would say updating the prices would cause less of a surprise when paying and possibly save an explanation if someone objects to an unexpected extra cost. Would highly recommend a visit to Cadgwith Cove and especially enjoying a lovely seafood sandwich or buying some excellent wet fish to cook at home later 👍

We visited Cadgwith to swim round to the Devil’s Frying Pan (pls get advice if you want to do this). After a picnic on the beach, we popped into the shop to buy a crab. Huge fresh local crab caught by the family who own the shop. We weren’t going straight home, and the lady in the shop (Susie), offered to package it in a polystyrene box with an ice pack. So helpful. When we got home the crab was still lovely and cold. We had crab pasta for dinner then the brown meat as a sort of pate on toast the next day. Wonderful!!

If you like seafood you must try this. Unbelievable! Even though a pricey sandwich for £10, my husband still said it was worth it. He asked for the lime mayo with the crab and was very impressed. I had the crab with lime mayo in a tub on its own for £6 and loved it. We sat by the boats on the pebble beach while we ate and watched the waves. Perfect. Would definitely have it again.

Small and cozy old traditional Inn. Good food, the specials reflect the VERY local catch of the day, good service. Cadgwith is a lovely small cove with local fishing boats and the Inn reminds you of smuggler times gone by and has a lovely vibe to it.

Having a short break to my homeland and had to visit this place. Can't recommend enough ....ignore the negative comments as they're probably emmets who are better suited to McDonalds. The cove sadly is full of 2nd homes which ruin the character slightly but the crab is local and so are the vendors. Come, vspend your money and then go back over the Tamar!!!

Stayed in Cadgwith for the week and bought fresh fish 4 times. Excellent choice daily which included gurnard, John dory, monkfish, cod, brill, Dover sole and more. Also fresh langoustine (large) and scallops. Prices were very reasonable indeed. There was also lobster and crab which sold well and they made up crab sandwiches to order but not my thing so can't comment on those. Pleasant staff.

We travelled to Cadgwith to buy fish and support the village. What a mistake, we should have gone to Morrison’s. It was Friday late morning. The shop sign said open, we opened the door, the lady said I am not open I am getting ready for the market. There was fish on the counter filleted. I asked if there was anywhere else I could buy fish and she said ‘not just now’. What a shame. We went to Helston’s wonderful market today the lady was there with lots of fish to sell not many customers though at her stall no wonder. We did not buy any sadly.

I was really looking forward to a crab sandwich at this shop. It appeared open and the lady was chatting out of the window. The shop did to be fair looked empty. But still appeared open. I went in and the lady was talking. It would be obvious I was there. I waited. No reaction. I went out to see if I was in the right place. I was so went back in and again waited whilst she was talking. So I ended up asking if she did crab sandwiches. She finally spoke to me and said that she was closed and open tomorrow. That was it. I am not returning to sample the wares. I went to the nearby pub. It was so rude of the woman. But I suppose I was only a grockle.

We recently visited cadgwith cove and decided to have a crab sandwich, how i wish we hadn't bothered. After waiting approx 5 minutes for the woman to stop chatting outside the shop and acknowledge my existence, she eventually entered the shop and waved a cup of tea at me and sarcastically asked me if i minded if she had a swig of tea as she hadn't had a drink all morning! I ordered 2 sandwiches and asked if we could have them to take away( i wasn't sure if there was anywhere to sit) she looked at me and said "They are to take away" she then told me twice that i did not have to stand in the shop. When i paid £17 for the sandwiches i held out my hand for my change and asked her if she was open everyday, whereupon she dropped the money in my hand without looking at me and was literally turning around when she snapped"yes we are" and then raised her eyes. The woman has no manners, was rude and the sandwiches were disgusting, normal white bread with a couple of tea spoons of crab, the lime mayo was non existent! We visited port isaac last year and had a fantastic crab sandwich, i think it was in an old school which also housed crafts and paintings, the bread was fresh baked with a choice of white or granary, thick crab and a salad garnish. I would avoid this shop in cadgwith cove

Have a takeaway fish and chips most weeks. Opened the box to find a ridiculous fish portion, thought that we had been given a childs size,it was so small, hake was 10 pounds and cod 7,with chips and peas came to best part of 30 pounds. Sorry to say that these were objectively the worst poke bowls I’ve ever had. The rice was criminallyyyyy overcooked oh my goddd!!!!!! I can’t recommend the mushroom poke bowl at all ( but there wasn’t any choice because they had no chicken and no tuna), as the flavours of pineapple, coleslaw and shiitake mushrooms do notttt go. They said food was slow at the beginning of the night but it really wasn’t that busy- not busy enough at all for the quality of that rice😔😔😔. £17 for a no- meat poke with inedible rice and bad flavour. All I ate was the melon and edamame. Can’t recommend at all.

We were on holiday for a week but my husband and myself ate here twice. We were served by Izzy and Indie who were a credit to the restaurant, lovely ladies. Our meal was lovely. Shout out to Max, who was the chef who cooked our meal. I must say that the in house made bread is fantastic. My husband said it was the best bread he had ever tasted! The foccacia style bread was a refreshing change from the sourdough you seem to be given everywhere. It's a small restaurant with great food and great views so make sure you book if you want to dine here. Thanks for a lovely evening x
