Had a delicious hot tequila toddy whilst waiting for a train. A glamorous spot..good for a date night or to start a night out in style!

Nice place not too far away from the station and rest of shopping areas though mostly drinks only, a few light bites are available too.

Gorgeous South American vegetarian food! Everything was so fresh and homemade 10/10 will definitely be back next week!

Best cocktails I've had in a long time, expertly made with care BUT the staffs attitudes are a bit off... A bit 'pissy' if I was to give it a word, which is a shame because everything else about this place I love, patrons are really fun and interesting too.

We came here for a staff member leaving do, filled the bar with 20+ people and the staff handled us well 😃, excellent place for a few drinks.

What a hidden gem! This is such a great find. The most amazing cocktails, really great value and the staff are very attentive and great at mixing a whole variety of drinks. The orange margarita was superb. Can't rate this place high enough!

Should be one of the best bars in Hastings & St Leonards, but sadly isn't. seriously overpriced and far too much of a trek from the seafront or the centre of town to bother, and sadly too far away from anywhere else, but not a bad place to stop for a quick drink if you are passing through Warrior Square station. The music isn't too bad when it's quiet enough to be unnoticeable background noise, and the live music they have is truly awful. The food is ok but nothing special. its not worth staying longer than 1 quick drink.

Wonderful. Visited on a busy Saturday night, so we had a little wait for the cocktails, but the wait was worth it. Exceptional tequila cocktails and very good value. Friendly staff.

Great atmosphere; bar staff are lovely, but... and it's a BIG but, it doesn't take cash. That puts me right off. Used to be that cards were only accepted over a certain amount, however now a mere lime and lemonade needs paying by card. Very disappointing.

Incredibly rude female staff, who literally glared at me when I walked in and ordered a drink. Then shouted across the bar 'what do you actually want?' There were four of them behind an empty bar yet it took 30 minutes to make one margarita. Such a shame because the bar was fantastic when it was run by Christian and PJ. Friendly staff and amazing cocktails. However, it's seriously gone downhill thanks to some questionable hires.

Went there after a Saturday lunch. So we didn’t eat there but had a round of cocktails which were delicious and inventive. One was slightly underfilled. The bar was pretty empty so we were glad to sit down with the dog.

Well looks can be deceiving. Nice cocktail bar but you need to get new staff! It felt like we were an inconvenience ordering drinks. The guy was rude not listening. We have up on the cocktails as it took over half hour for them to make the first ones. We arrived before 7 but they ignored us even though no one at the bar and then served us just after 7 and said we couldn’t have the happy hour drinks as it was now after the time! Shame as it’s a nice bar

£11 - £12 for a cocktail, service with no smile, one toilet. Won't be seeing me again.

Had a lovely couple of drinks in here. Very strong and well worth the money. A bit small inside but managed to get a table just before we got our drinks. Would definitely visit here again.

Excellent service, especially from the two guys working behind the bar. I had Pisco Sours and went back for the Caliente Margarita the next day, both 10/10. I was in St Leonards for a weekend on my own, there is a lot to be said for a cocktail bar where you feel totally comfortable on your own.

One of my FAVOURITE ever places - little gem in Hastings. Came here on a whim and ended up having some of the best mezcal & margaritas I’ve ever had, better than places in London & Barcelona. Also, massive shout out the 2 guys who were working at the time. Knew all their stuff and super lovely. Come on a Tuesday for the open mic night, nice lil vibes!

Pretentious bar, think they know more than everyone else about drinks which is clearly not the case as they pre mix theirs out of sheer laziness. Just refuse outright to get the drinks you’d like, unless you’re a friend of the staff then you get whatever you want.

I went here for the first time the other day with my brother who kept telling me to go, brilliant cocktails and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely come again. Lemon drop was my favourite cocktail I tried and like the menu says it's very moreish, not too sweet which I love

Appalling. Accused of not paying the bill and threatened by the staff. Worst negroni I have ever tasted.

Really rude bar staff. Avoid!! Went for a drink and spoke to the only free staff member in front of the bar, we asked if there were any seats to stay for a drink, no one was present at the entrance hence why we asked at the bar, there was nowhere else to stand. Whilst the girl went off to clear our table, the bar tender aggressively shouted at us “don’t stand at the bar”. Very very rude and unnecessary?? We left and didn’t wait to seated!! Went to the Piper and had a great night, where the mood was more relaxed. Hey cactus hound, why so uptight! ??

Best Tequila and Mezcal bar in East Sussex and maybe the UK. I have been to many tequila bars ant this one is by far the best I've visited outside Mexico. Fine choice with helpful friendly staff who are knowledge about the drinks on offer. Lovely location near Warrior Sq Station and always a great choice of drinks. My favourite, by far, is the Caliente which is a spicy Margerita. The classic Margerita is done superbly and its a great place to meet friends for a sociable drink. Great table service too highly recommended

Handed a drinks menu, with only cocktails. Asked about wine and was told through a mask, three choices of white, which had to be repeated as unclear through staff mask. Chosen wine was mediocre, small glasses and charged twelve pound. This bar thinks it’s fancy, I think it’s the latest silly rip off to hit St Lens. Don’t go

The Cactus Hound is a great place for meeting up with friends or just sitting and reading. What I like about the place is the ambience and lack of uniformity. Every table is different. They range from the cantina table with naff chairs, the intimate table or table for mates, decadent lounging on sofas, through to what might be a hen night long table. Whilst one could go to the Cactus for a wine or beer, they specialise in tequila cocktails which transcend to a bit of an art. If, like me you haven't tried these before, I strongly recommend you ask and discuss the menu with the host who will helpfully guide you through smooth dark rich offerings to refreshing colourful delights depending on your desires. They currently have a pomegranate special created to support the Legacy of War charity which whisked me away to Mesopotamia. Before Lockdown 1.0, The Cactus used to host a great open mike music evening (St Leonards seems to have a disproportionate number of talented musicians). Unfortunately there is currently no sign of this restarting in the immediate future. As of September 2021, though not restrictive, the venue is still covid cautious with table service etc. so you can socialise without pandemic anxiety. I commend The Cactus Hound to you.

Hidden gem nestled at the back of the Kings Road. We had classic margaritas and quesadillas, both we're great. Friendly staff, will definitely be visiting again.

Nice pub. Friendly. Recently reopened. Band playing tonight which limited table space etc so had to stand but that's fair enough. Biggest complaint is the layout. Even when the pub is only partially busy there is a bottle neck in the middle. Not sure what the answer is tbh. The toilets could definitely do with a revamp too. Definitely one of the best bars in St Leonards though.

New trendy place in the heart of st leonards, however overly expensive drinks £15 for a double whisky when you can buy the bottle for £40, shameful! Music was mehhh, better places to go nearby that aren't London and Brighton prices

Really cool bar, great people and great vibe. Should be a 4.7 review but with only two unisex toilets, it’s a bit annoying. This in no way detracts from what a great local gem this is.
