We went to The Piper during the events of Kid Kapichi, we can say it's a very lovely place with chilled our bar staff with a smile. The only downside is the venue of the Kid Kapichi concert was upstairs and in 30⁰c heat with 250 people in a small room it lacked ventilation and lack of air conditioning so it became very hot and sweaty !!! I highly recommend they do invest in better air conditioning as this would make this venue a million times better. Now for downstairs, was a diamond in the dirt, it was eloquently decorated with band posters from past and present, the prices of the drinks reflected the area that it was in, the smoking area was aptly outside in it's own area and had seats that were comfortable to sit in. Would I come back again !!! Hell yes we have re-booked for next year for both Kid Kapichi and pirate day so let's hope they have better fans by then.

Food is just order-in pizza. Service ranges from excellent during day and quieter evening to slow - there will be a queue at the bar on a busy night. Atmosphere different every day. Ranges from pleasant Monday, up to loud and thronging at the end of the week.

Cool pub, great choice of drinks and has some great and varied events on. Extra bonus points for having Guinness in the upstairs bar where gigs are.

Here for a gig upstairs. Bar downstairs cool, upstairs hot and sweaty in a good way. Loved it

We'd just arrived for a week's holiday in Hastings and this was the first pub we visited. Popped in to go to the record fair they hold inside and stayed for a drink. Nice pub, good selection of beers and a nice, friendly atmosphere. Will definitely pop in again when we're back that way.

What an absolutely banging and charming pub and venue. Super cool people … good vibes … loved it! We saw KidKapichi there and the whole thing was just brilliant.

It's a great pub even if you are on your own... go and see!! They have great live music and DJ's. But when its busy bar staff are pushed to the limit to serve, I'm afraid some of the prices for beer are more expensive than other pubs nearby, too. IPA £7.50 A PINT. JULY 2024. Shocking !

Great fun had here at the past two NYE parties (22/23), regularly go on Wednesday open mic nights and seen some cool gigs here. Best pub in St Leonards!

Amazing bar staff eclectic mix of riff raff good.

Usually good but had a disappointing experience with a rude and unnecessary attitude from bar member. Review now edited & rating increased to reflect response from pub over feedback as well as the experience on other occasions. ANOTHER UPDATE 25/5/24: Have gone back a few times now and am giving up. Ok sometimes but had another experience of unnecessary rudeness from staff. Too many other nice pubs around.

Quiet Sunday night beer in the Piper. Good service considering there was only 1 person serving. Quite a lively crowd, Good music well kept beers and a good variety...

The staff are exceptional, the dj on a Friday is amazing (great music).I was in a vulnerable position and the support ,care and safety from all of the staff was incredible.I lost my phone and they found it and kept it safe...more importantly they were very concerned about my welfare and did everything in they're power to make sure I got home safely .Great vibes everytime. Really great pub and I am grateful..so fun and safe .Thank you Emily

Place was ok but our experience marred by being accosted by a boorish pedant called Chris who claimed he was the owner and was equally annoying and arrogant. Do your business a favour and stay away!

Absolutely dreadful experience, my local which most of the time friends don’t want to attend as lack of atmosphere and ‘dodgy’ clientele. Bar manager was completely out of it and told me I was barred for no reason , I explained that my mother had died when he was accusing me of bad behaviour, ,at the time he said I don’t care your mums dead , Really , don’t bother with this place !

Lovely pub with an electric atmosphere. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Loved the deco!

Very good, went to watch Kid Capichi perform in the upstairs venue, my first experience of seeing them & they were brilliant, I liked the venue quite small si quite an intimate atmosphere 👍🤘

Visited recently for a drink with friends, but the experience was ruined by the noise level. The music in the downstairs bar was irresponsibly loud. I won't be visiting again until the management addresses this problem. There's no good reason for the music to be so loud. It prevents conversation and damages customers' hearing. It's a shame as otherwise it's a decent pub.

Nice vibrant pub with a late night dance venue upstairs. Good for pints, cliental can be a bit outlandish, but who doesn't love a free spirit

Was excellent settling into their vibe after covid... Alas was to optimistic reducing review to 2 stars.....the staff seem to spend long periods during the day on phones or laptops ignoring Customers or the bar runs dry of things too frequently. Could be my great local but has lost its soul to trendies and incomers..

They don't know how to keep and serve real ale, mine was cloudy, not fashionably cloudy, but undrinkable cloudy. Waste of £5.00. I shan't return.

Outstanding. Great lively atmosphere plus live music venue upstairs. Had a great evening seeing The Small Fakers a superb Small Faces tribute band. Go see!

Strange place. Facebook and Google states their opening times wrongly, along with staff who give out duff information. Arranged for a meet up of 12 people (all from Hastings) at 12.00 but hours now 13.00. I think they got big COVID grants so don't need the business. Luckily The Nags Head in Gensing Road was open so our money was spent there. Never mind.

A good pub/bar with a good selection of beers on tap, and plenty of events with live music.

First time there on a Friday night, lots of friendly people, good music, good beer, smoking garden and dog friendly, give this pub a go, :-)

Nicely refurbished featuring a wide variety of live music, often free. It is possible to book in advance for cheaper tickets to the paid events.

There's a great night there called "Silver Dream Machine" , Great dj's and great tunes. There's quick service at the bar and friendly clientele

Looked light a delightful pub and i really fancied a pint of Harvey’s. However I waited 5 minutes alongside two other customers whilst the barman just rabbitted away with another customer and the landlord (I guess) just walked past and down the stairs. Service like this will be regretted in the tough times ahead

Surprising decent for St Leonard's. However, the music was unbearably loud and the speaker sound was very distorted.

It is a nice bar but I was quite shocked about the London prices for beer.

Good atmosphere, interesting bar would have been a 4 star but I entered the toilets. They are the kind of toilets the GM should be proud of.

Absolutely wicked pub! There was a DJ downstairs who was awesome and very eclectic, loved his vibe. Also a band upstairs that seemed popular. Staff were friendly, facilities were clean. Loved it! X

Yep, really love it in here. Good friendly staff, always has a bit of life to it. I really like the atmosphere and the choice of beers is good. Red Stripe on tap! Don't see that very often. Has a small courtyard smoking area out back. It's a fair sized pub that also has regular live music. Well worth a stop!

It's alright. Decent little pub, lovely decor. Staff VERY hit and miss. Only some folk trained to change kegs. No fruit in drinks. Asked for a cocktail to be told by staff member that they don't do cocktails - so he walked off and served someone else. They didn't know several of their spirits, so had to point them out. Asked for 2 doubles and when they only had 1.5 singles left they CHUCKED the single, rather than serving it, which we would have been happy with, which is just wasteful and a bit daft tbh. Staff need a touch of training overall, and with that would probably be a five star venue. But found myself aiming for a particular barman as I approached the bar so I didn't have to explain my drinks.
