Byfleet Fish Bar in Woking

Ordered 4 lightly battered cod and chips and the food was delicious and excellently cooked. The owners are very friendly and the fish shop is an asset to Byfleet.

Very disappointed over priced £5 more than New Haw fish and chips, small portions. Scampi is more like tiny prawns. This used to be lovely such a shame.

Dont get confused the fish shop where I go is byfleet NOT west byfleet... Their fish and chips are amazing been on a diet but had tk go tonight haddock and chips....died and went to heaven amazing....best ever

We have used Byfleet Fish Bar for about 6 years. Staff changed about 5 years ago and food improved immediately. We live near Woking so loads of fish and chip shop options, but travel to Byfleet for good food. Thanks to the staff who provide a fantastic service to the community.

Good value for money and large portions of chips. The staff are friendly and efficient. I will be coming here again!

Usually so enjoy the fish and chips from this fish bar but this evening the chips were over cooked and dry. The fish was ok but totally spoilt by crispy over cooked dry chips. It will be a while before I return. Giving two stars as usually pretty good but actually on tonight’s performance I wouldn’t rate it al all.

I've seen some negative reviews but I have had nothing but good service, and excellent cod with chips. I have never had to wait long once at the bar, but there are sometimes small queues that hold things up a bit. The family who run the chip shop are friendly and most helpful.

Friendly team, great food, clean set up. Queues down the street Friday nights! Price OK as portions generous. Kids love it.

I'm sorry to have to write this, but after spending nearly £15 on two pieces of cod, one chips and one mushy peas, the fish was tasteless, chips all end bits and the peas were like a puree and cold. The staff are lovely but the food was expensive and had no flavour at all.

Great food great service they are so friendly ,and very very clean always ask how I am ,love this place I can never eat small chips and always let me buy half portion great service

We had a number of things - Fish, Sausage, chicken etc and it wasn’t the greatest and we won’t be returning - Look at Chertsey or Addlestone - much better Chippy’s outside of the Byfleets

Had the best fish and chips in my life on Friday, the cod was cooked to perfect and the chips was just too fanatic, definitely visit again, maybe even the new go to place, and never disappoint!

Best Fish and chips in the area , Best fish ! best hand cut chips ! Friendly staff good prices! Every time I wanted fish and chips for dinner I always travel to Byfleet because they cook everything Fresh，The service is very efficient Max time waiting is about 10 minutes ! The only thing is they close on Sunday ! If you live in the area you should try it it will not disappoint you , hundred percent From the owner ,I think is not Easy to run Fish a fish shop With high standard Iam highly recommending the shop!!!

Ì have been travelling from esher for about nine years for the best fish and chips in a wide area the staff are fantastic and very friendly the service and the food is excellent i would recommend any one to go and see for themselves.

Always go here the owners are lovely me and my partner and children always go the kids love choosing what they would like never had a bad meal from there decent prices always fresh and hot it's a must try it's always busy so catch it at the right time or your be waiting they also take cards now too

Great staff clearly labled my food as we ordeed fish but i cant eat cod. Also ensured my fish was cooked in different oil.

Tasty & fresh fish & chips cooked to perfection by a lady with a lovely smile. Would definitely recommend this fish & chip shop.

use this regularly and enjoy each time. Staff may not smile but they are efficient. Good flavour and not too much batter on the fish. selection of other food too, pies, burgers,suggest etc

Avoid !!! , very poor !!!! ordered three fish and chips one being haddock charged us for them and then was told that they had no haddock so had large cod instead ,then instead of a re funding the difference in price between cod and haddock was told i could have more chips !!!!! will not be going back !!!

Fui allí, el lugar era más como una morgue de la funeraria a unas puertas! El personal miserable tenía nada en los casos muestra climatizada Pedí el bacalao y patatas fritas no oí nada sacadas del congelador sólo algunas en el fondo me dieron inicio para abrir lo que sólo puede imaginar era recalentada refritos bacalao y patatas fritas fue asqueroso yo estaba enfermo todo el fin de semana! Les informó a los Borough Council!

The last 3 visits, the chips have been hard/dry. Definitely no where near as good as they used to be.

Went to the shop at 5pm. Had to wait for them to cook my cod which I thought was fair enough. When we got home. The chips were the dreg ends and the cod did not taste fresh.

Not sure if it has changed hands again but recently the quality of food has got better. Food served very hot which means still hot when you get home.

Sábado por la noche, no hay rock! Así que pedimos grande cod y grandes eglefino y porción de patatas fritas. Primero se sirven las patatas fritas eran, nunca había visto tan horribles cosas de color sobre papel. Como para los peces, mi bondad fue verdaderamente asqueroso. El aceite que usan deja un sabor repugnante y como para el pescado, solo puedo decir que era incomible!! No RECOMIENDO EN ABSOLUTO!

We stopped here around 10pm on our way home, it has the best scampi and chips ever, friendly staff, very clean, even has a dine in option. The only thing they didn't have was curry sauce, though the rest was brilliant, we will return

Fabulous fresh cooked fish and chips. Generous portions. Super fresh. Amazing. Staff are really efficient as it gets busy and they are never too busy to be polite and friendly. It's worth a drive over even if you're not local.

Had take away yesterday from here. The chips were fantastic, the batter a bit too cripsy for me but still nice, the fish was night had flavour.

Always loved this fish shop but gone down hill. Today I ordered cod and chips. The cod had hardly and fish in it and the batter was so hard I couldn't eat it. As for the chips they were rock hard! Basically tasted like they had been there for hours. Curry sauce had no taste either. Very unhappy customer.

Since it's been redone the food has got better and better more flavour better cooked the fish is fresher the batter is fantastic and they know how to serve it! Well done!

Usually go here on the dash in the car somewhere so stopped by recently .Never remember it's opening hours but they do make nice chips.!Would always recommend for a local chippy...

My whole family loves the fish and chips here -even my fussy daughter - would love to eat here more than once a week, but have to watch my weight!

My local chippy I visit occasionally. Recently had a refurbishment. Good food, reasonably quick service,generous sizes.Give it a go!

Have never really been a big fan of this particular fish and chip shop but it does have its good days. Recently i ordered some curry sauce but it was more like curry water hardly any taste was not like the one they used to have which was very nice. Sometimes the service is lovely they chat to you, other times its like they dont want to under stand you.

Since re-opening we have been back once. We have lived in the area for 8 years and always enjoyed the chip shop, however since re-opening it is barely serving what can be classed as food. My wife ordered what she thought was fish and chips but there was no fish in the batter and I ordered chicken and chips. Difficult to get the chips wrong, however the chicken was so dry that after chewing the first mouthful for a good couple of minutes I spat is out and threw the rest away.Such a shame a good fish and chip shop is a must in each town and village in future we will have to plan so I can stop in Cobham on the way home and get fish and chips there.

The fish always taste fresh and never greasy. The resturant is on 2 floors and always full, need to book ahead if possible.Highly recommended

I have lived in Byfleet for over 30 years and have seen this chip shop change hands many times, but going there recently has been very disappointing to say the least. I asked for large chips and cod. A young man served me, he put 1 scoop of chips in the paper and that was it, I said to him "Is that a large chips?" He said "Yes" I thought ok, that's a bit on the small size. Then he turned to his work colleague and said to him sarcastically "Is THAT a large cod?" I felt very disappointed in his attitude and service. I'm afraid the man needs training in customer service or the business will go down hill. I won't be going back unless the service & portion are improved.

I have been once ortwice to the chippy and had no problems. Today was different. My partner bought me chips sausage and a potion of curry. The curry was watery to point of no taste. I need all three to enjoy the meal. I can't just have sausage and chips as I enjoy dunking the sausage in the curry. This was not a problem in its self as I headed back to the chip shop to ask for some more curry. The real issue is how I was treated at the chip shop. They didn't seem to care that there product was a disgrace. Said they couldn't give me any decent curry but did offer gravy. If I was in there shoes I would have been upset that I allowed such a bad product to represent me and my shop. They didn't care. In the end I left the curry chips and sausage on the counter and walked out. I was shocked at how much they did not care. They didn't offer a refund or anything. I came home and had soup. Will not go back and would recommend everyone else not to go. I believe that anyone can make a mistake but to not care or want to fix that mistake is the real shame.

Over the years this place had gone from bad to worse, then the fire. Now since it has reopened, the shop itself is more inviting, but the staff are still not very friendly, the quality of food is little better but not worth the price rise that has occured since the fire. I have worked in hospitality since i left school, and my 6 year old niece is more friendly than the staff in here. I rememeber, on occasssions we have had to even take the food back as it was that bad before. But I think it could seriously benefit from snding its staff on some customer service training and they need to learn what a smile is.

Recently re-opened after a refit, I can't think of anything good to say about the place. £7.50 for haddock and chips, there is no friendliness about it, a lot of my chips were green, the batter on the haddock was flat and cooked at a too high temperature. Service was perfunctory. Quality rather then quantity is what they should focus on. If you want decent fish and chips, then try the Fishermans Net in New Haw, or Superfish in West Byfleet
