We visited here on a visit to the town centre for my husband's birthday. We wanted to find a cafe/restaurant as the one we wanted to visit had closed. Long story short, the food was decent but nothing special. The service was friendly but again nothing special and the place was very clean but felt a bit cramped. Nothing to avoid here, but nothing to make me go out of my way to visit.

Great service and good food, can get very busy but there is more seating upstairs, never have to wait to long for your food and drink and very reasonable prices.

An excellent family cafe. Lovely people and great friendly atmosphere. Try to call kn St least once a week. Good clean food. Xmas time the dinners are top rated. Well worth a visit.

This is a busy little restaurant for the simple reason that it is awesome. It was our first visit today and we were lucky to get a table. The turnover is quick, not rushed, and the menu concise enough to give enough options but to be quickly prepared. Our food was out in a flash, fresh salads, quality meats, lovely big pot of tea. The cost is perfectly balanced, the staff tremendous and our whole meal was a delight. I genuinely cannot wait to come back for lunch again! I wish more restaurants were like this!

Lovely family run tearoom in the heart of Workington town centre, a great selection of sandwiches, paninis, cakes and light snacks, daily specials and lovely coffee. If you are visiting Workington you need to visit this little gem. Staff are really friendly polite and very professional. Cannot recommend highly enough. 5⭐

Was so disapointed that there was no fried egg option and was simply given scrambled egg , although cooked well I was expecting a traditional breakfast, friendly cafe but I wanted a Breakfast

A good breakfast spoiled by knives that wouldn’t cut butter never mind bacon, atmosphere quite noisy with a ‘lady’ cackling every two minutes, she obviously enjoyed herself while everyone else was stuck listening to her. Facilities are a bit of a trek to get to, poor design. Not sure I’d bother visiting again

A friendly welcome on arrival without being over the top. Generous portions and fast delivery. Proper fresh salad hand prepared not out of a bag. Lovely homemade coleslaw. And was asked if I wanted salad dressing not just assumed, which I very much appreciate, thank you.

Best lemon meringue pie ever and lovely friendly people

Lovely little tea room, fabulous atmosphere, it was very busy but we just waited. And glad we did it was so worth it. We had 2x bacon baguettes, a milky coffee, and a hot chocolate It was amazing, very tasty. The only negative was that the serviettes were tiny and thin! We forgot to get photo which we will when we come back to try the cakes 😋 🍰☕️

As walking buddies we visit this friendly café regularly on our way home but today we came especially for our Christmas lunch. Excellent customer service and pipping hot food on the coldest day I can remember. I can't praise the staff or quality of food enough, beautiful cooked, generous portions. The best festive lunch we have had. Our whole experience was amazing thank you all involved with Butterflies café. I will be bringing my family for the festive menu again this week 😊

Visited this little gem on a wet and windy Monday lunch time Was busy had to wait few minutes for a table Ordered a pot tea , 2 cans of pop, sandwich and toastie all served quickly and food was lovely £14.00 service great 👍 Cakes looked delish maybe next time il try one

We searched for a place near to the hunday manor hotel to have breakfast. And found this one to have great reviews. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating...but wow the breakfast was top. Fresh food and Cumberland sausage was pukka. Would recommend to anyone local or passing through.....cheers

Fabulous friendly staff lovely food

We went to Butterflies on the recommendation of a family member and I'm so glad we did. The cafe is welcoming and spotless, the staff very friendly. My partner had a jacket potato and it was stuffed full of bacon, garlic mushrooms and cheese. I had my jacket potato with prawns and marie rose sauce, it was delicious. Both meals were served with a lovely fresh salad. Again on recommendation, my partner somehow found room to have the infamous lemon meringue for pud which was very tasty ( I just had to try it!). All this for a very reasonable price. We will certainly be back on our next trip to Workington!

First time visitor to Butterflies & was very impressed. Good value for money & service was great, very friendly & helpful. Only slight niggle were the serviettes that come with the cutlery, not very good (too thin). Will definitely go back again.

Stopped here for a light lunch with the family, including my elderly father. Staff were incredibly welcoming and happy to assist. Genuinely friendly and attentive with a rare enthusiasm for what they do. Menu is nicely varied without being pretentious. Assume really good options and nicely varied specials. Opted for the quiche which was was absolutely first rate. Honestly one of the the tastiest I've ever had; pastry was perfect, filling devine. Accompanying salad was amazing too. Crisp, colourful and varied. This is catering as it should be. Good food, cooked with love and served with pride. If you're in town and looking for something different, you won't go wrong here. And yes, the lemon meringue pie is out of this world!

You could not ask for a better place to seat down and rest your feet after a hard day shopping. Place is clean and tidy, staff are very friendly and food is absolutely delicious. Plenty of seating upstairs if downstairs is full, food is brought to you in good time, no matter how busy they are and the cheese and onion quiche (homemade) is to die for.

This is our favourite place, visit a few times a week. Excellent food and service is second to none . A proper family run business who are the best . Very welcoming and my grandson even calls them auntie and uncle now it's great . Thankyou Sylvia and strad and all the staff

I came across this lovely cafe when visiting the town of workington. The service was good, the food was tasty and their homemade lemon meringue pie is to die for! They have upstairs seating if downstairs gets full up! The staff are friendly and welcoming.

A lovely coffee shop in the centre of Workington, not overpriced. And excellent service.

Our family stayed in Workington for five days and had breakfast here twice as it was so delicious! The scones were the best I'd ever had, and the service was prompt and friendly. It was obvious the staff had a great rapport with their regulars, and the owner Strad showed a genuine interest in his customers. The cafe was clean and comfortable and to top it off the price was very reasonable. Highly recommended!

Small but exceptionally clean. The staff are warm and welcoming. We had the full English breakfast which was very tasty and the portion size was ample. What can be said about the homemade desserts, absolutely to die for. Never had such well-made and tasty desserts. Definitely coming back here

Lovely friendly cafe. Sanitiser on the door & the staff in visors make it feel a bit more safer. The food is very good. We have visited a couple of times now. They do a cracking bacon teacake & Cumberland sausage baguette. The chilli is 1 of my favourites & also lovely homemade quiches

A great cosy cafe in Workington. The cafe is fully following the Covid19 guidance with hand sanitizer on the entrance and all tables wiped with disinfectant before the next customers. The menu has a selection of tea, coffee and soft drinks. Breakfast, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, tea cakes, salad, traditional English meals, filled pitta breads, snacks and homemade cakes are available. The order was taken promptly and delivered to our table in good time. We chose the cheese and onion filled pitta with a fresh salad, Victoria Sponge and lemon meringue pie, with tea, coffee and soft drinks. All were tasty, fresh and delicious!Thank you to Strad and his polite and conscientious team.

I arrived earlier than planned for a meeting so after scouting out the location I figured I had time for lunch so checked our trip advisor for local recommendations. The cafe was not far from where I needed to be, was a busy wee place but staff were really friendly and the service was quick. Good cafe menu and prices and I had a really tasty baguette and was in and out in good time after a nice lunch, just what you want in a hurry but equally a nice wee place to sit and relax

This place serves really good homemade food. Staff are helpful & very friendly. They do a gorgeous chilli when on the specials board, really good quiches, nice soup, tasty toasties & paninis. Various other things too, both sweet & savoury.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time with my mother The cafe was busy but we were luckily able to get a seat Good selection of freshly made sandwiches, panini, toasties and jacket potatoes.The side salad is also excellent. The staff are very friendly and I would highly recommend!

We have a static caravan in the area of this cafe.when out and about and hungry it is the first place we call on. They are open 6 days a week,closing only on Sunday's. It has been recently refurbished and is light and bright,spotlessly clean with extras seating upstairs.A family run business with polite and helpful staff. They serve a varied menu with a different specials board each day. You always get a welcome whether you want a full meal or just a coffee or a cup of tea. My favourites are jacket potato with prawns and salad and coleslaw or panini with Brie,grapes and ham ,my husband likes quiche and salad ,all freshly prepared with the best ingredients. This fabulous cafe is situated on the corner of the shopping precinct with a car park on the opposite side of the road. They also have homemade cakes ,scones and desserts. All meals and drinks are reasonably priced. Butterflies is a very busy cafe,loved by locals and visitors alike ,we are so glad to have found it and we will continue to enjoy its hospitality.

Called in here for lunch on Monday, what a lovely friendly place, the staff were so welcoming & helpful & ( I assume) the gentleman behind the counter is the owner, seems to know all the customers ( obviously regulars) by name & had a chat with most of them whilst serving. The full salad is one of the best I have had & the quiche was also very nice, my wife had a toasted tuna sandwich which she said was also really enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable too. Highly recommended!!

Fantastic & friendly service, fantastic atmosphere, a great range on the menu, the lemon drizzle cake is to die for. I have never heard a bad word about this place, it is nearly always packed with customers, but they do have an upstairs seating area for those who are able to get up the stairs. It's a great family run place to visit. Very highly recommended

This is a "typical", small town, small cafe. As such it can seem a little "cramped", but most people visit for the food, not to lounge around in luxury.

I usually go to this cafe every Tuesday for lunch. I have tried a lot of the meals from the menu and can honestly say there has not been one thing bad to say about any of it. It is a family run family and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly each time I visit. All the food is home cooked from the pies, curry and not to mention the variety of cakes and scones on offer. If it is a cuppa and cake or light snack or a lovely lunch you need go no further than this little gem of a cafe.

We called in for lunch, which was very good. The homemade lentil & vegetable soup was lovely, served with a warm bread roll. Good choices on the sandwiches too. Friendly staff

Stepped out of the rain today for lunch. The interior is modern, clean and tidy with upstairs seating available It always looks busy, which indicates to me that it must be good value and good food and sure enough - it was. We choose the Bacon Bagette and Quiche & Salad option. Both very large and tasty portions. The salad was very well presented and visually stimulating with orange slices, applies, strawberries, kiwi fruity and grapes. Almost a meal in itself, certainly a really lovely palate cleanser and your 5 a day option taken care of.

Discovered this place, it was full of people (always a good sign), a tearoom, with lots of ‘atmosphere, complete with a friendly waitress service providing a ‘tasty’ menu.

Butterflies tearoom has been one of our go to coffee shops for many years and every visit is always fantastic. The owner is very friendly and the waitress’ are always very pleasant. The jacket potato and prawns is always a good choice and has just the right the right amount of dressing which comes in a little pot so you can put on the amount you want. The chicken curry pita bread with salad is definitely a good recommendation. The chicken is always cooked perfectly and the mild sauce is really nice. The vegetable soup is my personal favourite and comes with a lovely warm and crunchy roll, and the crispy bacon baguette is perfect for and time of day. The lemon meringue pie is to die for. The freshly made pie is the perfect mix of crunchy and gooey and has a lovely lemon flavour.
