Really good atmosphere and vibe. Music was chill and at a volume that you can actually have a social conversation! Barman was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks, made the time sat at the bar that much more enjoyable! Would definitely go again.

the vibes are immaculate, this place is such a MOMENT walked past so many times and just chanced it, had amazing cocktails, tried lots of different spirits, bartender knew his stuff, friendly, and was willing to make something off menu too. There was beer if you aren't into spirits. The music was top tier, disco, funky, psychedelic chill stuff. you'll be treated like one of the family!

The Best! Cocktails, especially Margherita's are amazing the staff are truly lovely, knowledgeable, friendly and interesting. A gem in the city, like the best gems...small but perfectly formed.

Nipped in here with some friends for drinks as, to be honest, it was the only place we could fit 6 of us without a booking! Very glad we did, managed to get a table for all of us, the place soon got really busy. There was 1 barman serving all night, he had a lot on his hands serving a busy place with a full cocktail menu but he did a great job and was super friendly. Would definitely go back.

There was a certain individual who appeared to be butters wearing a blue PlayStation jumper and no shoes or socks, I would really appreciate it if they wouldn’t of been let in considering I was put of my food

We saw the great reviews and tried to get a cocktail pre dinner. When we went in they didn’t have a cocktail menu and when we asked for a gin cocktail we were only offered a gin and tonic at which point we gave up! So no comment on the cocktails but the experience didn’t suggest they were interested in serving them!

Quality, cosey little coffee/cocktail bar. Absolutely amazing cocktails, had a Percy Pig Daiquiri - highly recommend! Worth the money. Fast service and friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Music is awesome too.

The reviews look great but I suspect the owners spend too much time on their photography when it should be spent on the quality of what’s provided. The coffees I’ve had have been thin and watery despite trying oat and dairy options. The cocktails are overpriced for what is served with little skill involved. I don’t need acrobatics, but a well made cocktail isn’t hard to make. I’ve had better from pre-mixed cans. Don’t waste your time here.

Staff are so friendly and attentive, we only had a couple beers (which were limited choice), but they were damn good! Cocktails looked amazing and chilled out atmosphere makes for an any-time visit

Mellow relaxed little vibe for a chill bev. I Didnt have any food ... yet as I will definitely be returning after the atmosphere and attentiveness given by the manager Johnjo has made me think I've found a new little local!!

Not sure about the other reviews that said ‘great cocktails’ had an espresso martini that I watched him pour out of a premixed bottle and then charged £9 for the privilege. Have no problem at all paying that much for a cocktail if it’s decent however very disappointed!

Their Pina Coladas are a must-try 🙌 obsessed.

Stopped here this morning on a Sunday morning stroll through town. Great little venue on Slater Street, with outside tables ideal for people watching. Staff friendly and helpful. Great latte (oatmilk) and the wife said her tea hit the spot just right. Prices very reasonable considering its location.

I love an independent coffee shop so I decided to give this a go with my gf earlier this week. Nothing seemed out of line with the shop, nicely designed and quite a homely feel. The menu was pretty limited which was the first thing I noticed and the food was a little funky, not really the place if you just want a plain breakfast/lunch - out of the 6-7 foods available on the menu I eventually opted for the salmon and cheese bagel only to be told they had no salmon, not ideal but can’t really complain, if it’s in high demand then it’s understandable. Then opted for the sausage, cheese and chutney bagel which wasn’t too bad, personally thought the bagel was a little hard to bite into which took some away. The coffee was average at best, I ordered a cappuccino (despite it not actually being on the menu) which was bubbly instead of frothy and tasted more like a warm fizzy drink than coffee. Im all for independent coffee shops, personally I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Butter, it just isn’t for me.

Being the coldest year so far, the Soup at Butter today was not only warning but delicious & clearly homemade. What a gem will definitely come back again. Great, quick service too.

Came to butter today for casual drinks with friends. They have very delicious snacks and the drinks were amazing.. My new favourite place in the city center the staff very polite and knowledgeable I highly recommend.

With the lifting of the 2nd lockdown on the 2nd of December my twin brother Stephen and I headed to town and one of the 1st places we visited was Butter,a new cafe/ bar for me and I must say that judging by my first visit ,this will be a cafe/ bar I will frequent a lot. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, a nice cosy interior, a glass fronted serving bar, retro decor and furnishings, exposed brickwork and despite its relatively small size there's plenty of seating options spread throughout Butter both inside and outside looking out onto the normally busy Slater Street. We were here on a Wednesday morning, greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the staff, we gave our details of name and phone number to assist with the governments track and trace system and then sanitised our hands, we were allocated a table were we ordered a flat white coffee each, these were served steaming hot, we just kicked back, chilled out and took in the great cafe/ bar we were in. My coffee was really good, from the first sip till the last sup you can tell they use quality ingredients in their coffee and take great pride in the coffee they serve, it was just so good being out and about and being in such a wonderful cafe/ bar, during the day this is a cool cafe but as it gets later it converts into an even cooler bar ,cant wait to visit again. We really enjoyed our coffee's in here and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to here we had a great time. Butter is easy to locate along Slater Street. Opening hours are;( tier 2 ) Monday to Thursday, 8am till 11pm. Friday to Sunday, 10am till 11pm. A great cafe/ bar,most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.
