Butlers Cafe in Hyndburn

We went for lunch 3/1/2024 The girl who served us was wearing a dirty cropped jumper with all her midriff on show , ecig visible in her back pocket . Not how you would expect somebody to be dressed when serving food . The food was cold and unfortunately had most certainly gone down in quality . We did mention this to a staff member also ! Very sad that this cafe has lost its professional touch as well as the food standard . Needs a good shake up I’m afraid 😟

I have been going to butlers since I was 5 years old so back in the old markets upstairs I have always ordered the same thing loose meat and potato pie with just peas . I have had one years ago that was just a load of fatty meat inside so wasn't to impressed but after 45 years of going didn't thing it was doing to bad , until I went for my usual and when it came out I though that smells a tad different and then noticed the pastry was burnt to a crisp so asked for a new piece and then continued to eat I did leave alot which I never do and I mean ever . With that as the day went on I felt worse and worse and yep exactly 6 hours after eating food poisoning kicked in and I was up all night not good . I have still given this a 5 as 2 out of 45 years isn't to bad but in saying that I've not been back , I wish the recipe is never tampered with and remember that onions do go off within a few days please don't make me poorly again 🙂

Visited the cafe today and ordered full breakfast,excellent except for the two sausages on the plate,absolutely crap,like sawdust. I'm sure you could improve on this crap product. Hope to call again soon and hope the necessary action has been taken to remove this product on a good breakfast. Staff fantastic

Went for breakfast with my mate who recommended it, And i have to say i was impressed with the service and the food, i will be going back next time i am in the market....

Ordered jacket potato with tuna, cheese and beans, and one with prawns. Came back to say they didn’t have any tuna or prawns. Jacket potatoes arrived (cheese and beans) just about warm enough to eat, no butter on them, no condiments (salt and pepper) on the tables and a meagre amount of cheese. Have been here several times before and always had a nice meal, very unimpressed and won’t be returning. Table needed a good clean too, had obviously just been left when previous customer’s plates etc were taken away.

Lovely friendly local cafe with tasty British staples. I had steak and kidney pie with veg and chips. Staff friendly and tables clean. Would recommend.

Been here a few times over the years ,and unfortunately just the same, will not go back again. Everything they serve is cold or at best cool, had to send the coffee back because it was tepid, the food is always cool, and by the time you finish it, it is cold, but so late in the meal it isn't worth sending it back.

Excellent service nice friendly atmosphere and good value for money good set of choices for those who don’t eat meat I was very impressed

Latte and tea excellent,egg and bacon t cake not so good.Teacake was to hot to handle and the egg yolk was rubbery,it appeared to be microwaved.My husbands cheese toasty was just ok.The staff are lovely tho and their prices are reasonable. Would go again for a cuppa and cake🤔

We have been to this cafe over the last at least 5 years today I was really disappointed with my food I ordered the steak pie dinner the pie was full of fat and gristle so couldn’t eat it I told the lady who collected our plates who informed someone about it but nothing was said at all really disappointed with there disinterest I definitely will not be returning

A waitress who needs a lesson in customer service. She virtually threw the coffee onto the table without a word or making eye contact with us. When my friend had the cheek to ask nicely if she could have a dessert, she was met with a dirty look. Then again threw the dessert onto the table, same surly look. This young lady needs to understand that the customers pay her wages, a smile costs nothing. We won't be back in a hurry.

Hi, I visited recently for the first time but to be honest I will not be back. The food was lovely when it came but not quite as I asked for and it took 25 minutes to arrive in a basically empty cafe. I asked for a slight modification to the basic menu and that really seemed to throw the staff into confusion, despite them having the item I asked to be changed. The main reason though is the very miserable and to be honest quite rude waitress. We were asked for our order literally as soon as we sat down and again about a minute later and yet again within about 2 minutes. When we were ready to order no one came near despite all standing chatting behind the counter. When I went up to the counter the waitress was very surly and clearly couldn’t be bothered. Great food but service lets it down.

We hadn't been to Blackburn for some time and were surprised to see that the Indoor Market had been substantially altered and updated. Butlers is one of the eateries within the market complex and we popped in for a lunchtime snack. The service and food were very good, but one strange thing was that at about 2.15pm, one of the waitresses began to stack up the chairs at the adjoining tables as if it were closing or cleaning, although having done so, the café remained open and there was no sign of any cleaning taking place.

Been a customer for many years, very proud and supportive of Mike and team. Came out for Sunday eve dinner noted new menu with price increase. My partner order his usual butlers chicken but really not worth the now £14 I ordered the jerk chicken Buddha bowl which served with turmeric orzo pasta, my meal arrived what a bloody disappointment cold white grain rice cold chicken and side salad. I alerted the supervisor to be told yes it’s rice but if it was pasta it would be served cold! WHAT and by the way we have no orzo pasta left so you have been given rice! Absolutely terrible customer service experience, luckily for Jeanette who agreed we would not pay for that meal which I did not eat and gave a complimentary drink, very upsetting experience I came away hungry and won’t eat again there, the food I was served was a cold salad bowl not a main meal at £12! I don’t usually post but the service apart from Jeanette was terrible, just remember where it all started from

Have been here 6 times, 3 have been superb, food service etc. But the other 3 have not been a good experience. If you get the giant Yorkshire pudding with beef, (3 times out of 3) it has been cold and have to send it back to the kitchen for reheating. The coffee has been served cool, rather than hot. So, will try other places before We go back here again!

what a great place to eat this is. fab menu with lots of traditional home cooked meals. only criticism is the portions were huge. chips piled high made it look a little less appetizing. I can highly recommend the cheese pie and loose potato pie.

Been here several times and always been reasonably good. Our baked potatoes were a little overdone this time and hard to cut, so disappointed but it was late lunchtime. The fillings were ok and hot. The tea was good, hot and refreshing. Waitress was excellent, very quick, efficient and helpful.

Visited here for the first time today, lots of choice on the menu so will definitely be returning! Some of the meals come with a free pudding as well! The area is clean and the staff are friendly. All the food was cooked well and tasted really nice.

I went here with my son for a brew on Saturday, I bobbed my head in the door to attract someone's attention, as we were sitting outside. My son went to the boys room and by the time he came back, no one had come out to us.

Oh how refreshing it is to have somewhere like this to eat! Good wholesome food nicely served and amazing value for money. Been coming to Butlers for years - so glad that there is still something constantly good!

Nice selection, good sized portions and a quiet escape from the mall. Located downstairs in the Blackburn Market, nice escape from the other chain-type restaurants.

Lovely food lovely service. The staff are very polite. The paninis are beautiful bread is soft and so tasty.

This Cafe, situated in the new Market hall in Blackburn, is one of a kind! My partner and I tend to eat here, whenever we are shopping in Blackburn. My partner is German, and I wanted to treat him to good old Lancashire fayre. Meat and potato pie, with mushy peas, carrots and gravy, followed by jam roly poly with custard. He was sure impressed! So, when his sister and her son came over for Christmas 2017, we went shopping to Blackburn, and decided to treat all of us to some Pie and peas. It went down a treat. Our German family was sure impressed with the pie and peas, and the 'afters'.

Vamos a los mayordomos más sábados por la mañana para el desayuno. El servicio es muy amable y la comida es una clase diferente comparado con otros cafés en el centro de la ciudad. Una gran variedad de café disponible y satisfacer todas las necesidades. Si no es en el menú simplemente pregunta! Mi muy exigente de tres años es atendido por el personal de la cafetería de bollos con chocolate caliente a la merluza tortitas con fresa.

Wonderful homecooked dinner .Traditional and plenty of it. Choice of sweets . Have had two already. Love them

Centro de la ciudad de blackburn está desesperadamente corto de lugares para comer en el almuerzo si buscas una comida completa en lugar de sólo un aperitivo. Por consiguiente, este es un lugar popular, ya que ofrece un menú largo de llenado opciones, todas a precios muy razonables. Pero el servicio era bastante impredecible, y dependiendo de que miembros del personal asignado a su mesa. Los niños mayores, los camareros más experimentados es eficiente y amable, los más jóvenes generalmente en nuestra experiencia bastante menos. Fue un buen cinco minutos antes de los ocupantes anteriores 'vajilla y vasos fueron aclaradas de nuestra mesa y cuando la comida llegó, teníamos unas vistas variadas. Las tartas y pudines bien y las porciones son ciertamente abundantes. Pero la salsa de cebolla en mi Yorkshire pudding gigante con salchicha no fue muy agradable, con la cebolla prácticamente cruda. En general, la comida aquí es adecuado, se llena un agujero y los precios son buenos pero mayordomo - y en general - necesita urgentemente el Blackburn cierta competencia realista.

He hecho aquí muchas veces y elegir la comida es bastante buena, muy buen personal y asegúrate de que tienes todo lo que necesitas. El único problema que tengo es cuando la camarera le lleva la orden luego tiene que levantarse y pagar en el hasta antes de la comida pedimos. Ya que algunas veces cenar solo que no me gusta dejar mis maletas, etc. mientras se efectúa la factura en la caja, ya que la gente yendo y viniendo no sé si mi propiedad estará seguro.

Nice clean cafe. Friendly staff and tasty food that is good value for money. The only thing I don't like is ordering at the table and paying at the counter it should either be table service or counter service. If you are worried about people not paying take the money with the order.

I had steak pie chips peas carrots ,all perfectly cooked generous portions. Served by Sheila a charming waitress polite and charming . Made my day in blackburn good honest food in a clean pleasant cafe. Will visit again .

Cada vez que comemos en la ciudad siempre vienen al café butlers, y la comida nunca decepciona. Es buena comida a precios razonables y el personal siempre muy amable.

Always go to this café when shopping in Blackburn. The food is fresh and well cooked, staff are really friendly , would not go anywhere else to eat.

I have been going to the butlers (balcony) cafe for 11 years now and I have never had a loose steak pie anywhere like I have here , the service is great and friendly , we sort of know everyone now anyway , prices are a bit steep but well worth it , when the chips are crispy they are the best around !! Loose steak pie , chips, no veg and a gravy boat is always my order

I lived in Blackburn most of my life and I remember with fondness the 3 and 5 day markets, including the balcony cafes, sadly no more there. I’ve now moved away and when I return to Blackburn a visit to butler’s cafe is a must if I need to eat, very reasonably priced, decent tasty food, no nonsense just decent potion sizes of honest, tasty food, can't fault it.

I have been there twice now and despite the oddity of ordering at your table and then having to go and pay before you get your food, it is difficult the fault this place.First time I had a breakfast and it was the best bacon I have ever tasted. today I tried the bacon butty. Once again very good.the place is kept clean and tables are cleared and re-set quickly, staff are pleasant and attentive. Prices are not bad. There is a general seating area at the other end of the Market for a number of outlets but this café is bright and airy - and does good bacon.I did review this place on my first visit but it seems to have got lost.

We had a breakfast and a bacon butty, and without doubt that was the best bacon I have ever tasted and there was plenty of it in the butty.The breakfast is big and comes with thick toast but 2 hash browns is just too much.Pleasant surroundings, attentive staff. A bit odd that its waiter service who takes your order and delivers the food but you have to go to the till to pay before these two events. Maybe its a local thing - just odd.Need to find an excuse to go back for the bacon butty.
