Would give 0 stars if possible, do not try to stay here! I turned up and the place was deserted, I tried calling the number provided on the booking 5 times and no one answered. I wandered around the property for 40 minutes in the snow calling out and knocking on doors and no one was around. I had to book a different hotel after this as I would have been stranded. This place still charged me and refuses to give a refund, appalling way to run a business!

Stayed for just 2 nights, rooms clean and fully serviced as a Self Catering apartment. On main road which is not ideal but close to the place I was visiting. A short walk from shops and an ideal stopover. Pub was closed for my stay which was very disappointing as chose for the, country pub, feeling. I would confirm pub would e open before booking again

Lorna is such a nice, friendly and warm person she always makes you feel welcome and at home The pub is small and traditional. Most importantly as well as being olde worlde comfy the pints are delicious and just how they should be There are 6 apartments which are spacious, clean and very comfortable. Everything you need for a relaxing stay in the area. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else and I visit the area weekly for work.

No comer nada.

We have visited before and enjoyed a decent Sunday roast, so returned with family on a Saturday. It was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.In summary:- Waited over an hour for our food- Staff kept claiming it was 5 minutes away - Last meals emerged from the kitchen 20 minutes after the first- Were told delay was due to everything being freshly cooked, but...- Mashed potato was frozen in the middle- Other veg was totally inedible (tough and rubbery)- Lasagne tasted cheap and was burned in places- Chips served in oily bowl- Kids chicken burger missing a bun- Waitress grew increasingly surly- The chef came out but was defiant rather than apologetic Oh and it wasn't even busy. In fairness, my pie wasn't awful, but by the time it arrived everyone was so fed up that I felt guilty about enjoying it!We'll never know what was going on in that kitchen during that hour. It's a mystery. We won't be rushing back.

Since they spent some money on the refurbishment, we kept saying that we must call in and have a meal to support a new local business. We were on a tight schedule as our child would need an afternoon sleep and we're about to set off on a long car journey. We went to the pub at around 1:30. Nobody else was waiting to be served and two tables and just finished, so I thought they would be quick as they were in the middle of the afternoon service. We ordered sausage and chips from the kids menu, along with a roast beef sandwich and chips and a cheese sandwich and chips. The sandwiches were advertised as being on warm baguettes. We sat for 40 minutes waiting. The barmaid was just stood around and serving the odd customer. No apology for being so long and when I enquired as to where out meals where, I got the stock response of 'they'll be a few more minutes'. No apologies!!!When they eventually came, the kids meal was served with mashed potato instead of chips. It wasn't even fresh. It was clearly luke warm rehydrated mashed potato with a knob of butter on it. Both sandwiches were served on bland, soft burger rolls. No explanation or apology for the wait or the replacement. The roast beef was just an overcooked minute steak. It was such a let down. We didn't dream of sending it back as our child was now ravenous and we couldn't wait. They never even asked if everything was OK with the meal. I approached the till to pay and pointed out to the bar maid that the order was wrong and we weren't happy with the quality. She simply shrugged and said that she would tell the chef before charging full price. The pub sells itself as a country kitchen. They clearly don't know how to run a kitchen and deliver good customer service. There are far better food pubs in the area. I'd give this place a wide birth. They are clearly playing at it. I would be surprised if they go out of business soon.

Visited this cosy traditional pub last weekend for Sunday roast dinner and was the best sunday roast meal I've had in a long while, and well worth the money at £8. We had a choice of beef, Turkey, and pork and plenty of it on the plate too. Excellent food and would recommend a visit. This is a dog friendly establishment with warm roasting coal fires to sit by. We enjoyed our visit so much we have returned to enjoy some lunch and again not disappointed with freshly cooked tasty meals. We had choice of main menu and a lunch menu with food at just £5. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and attentive with even the chef asking if all our food was to our liking which is a nice touch.

Visited with my family last Sunday to celebrate my wife's birthday, there were eight of us.It has been at least a dozen years or so since I last frequented the Butchers and I have to say WOW! what an improvement. The inside has been considerably refurbished to a high spec and to make it even nicer, it was all done up for Halloween. We had been told by friends, who had previously ate there, to order the meat pie as it is something of a best seller, crammed full of tasty beef. When we arrived we were told that only traditional roasts are available on Sundays. No biggie, just another excuse to go back again. The staff are pleasant and polite and cannot do enough for you.The lunch was cooked to perfection and we had 3 choices of meat. The servings are large so don't eat breakfast before you go. You also get a colossal bowl of mixed veg to share between two people. I would say that this is one of the nicest Sunday roasts I have had in a good while. The prices are very competitive, in line with other nearby pubs of this type. There is also a play area and a lawn outside for the kids for when the weather is fine.Overall I consider that we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal at a great price in wonderful surroundings and I would recommend you give it a whirl.

Visited the butchers arms for a catch up meal with my friend. Wish we hadn't bothered. The menu was rubbish no choice what so ever. So ended up with a veggie Burger and so called chips, and fish and chips, which were really potato wedges. The fish was haddock and was passable but the peas we're awful, a cold mush would describe them. And with 2 glasses of wine the bill at £26.00 was robbery. Please address this matter.

The staff are very nice and attentive, towards the end of our mean the pub started to fill up with locals so it must be well liked. Went for a second time to the Butchers Arms or Butchers Country Pub and Dining, as it is now called, on Saturday with my wife and friends. The pub has a great range of beers and lagers, with two real ales brewed locally in Dronfield. Tried both the Dronny Bottom and the Drone Valley old stout, very tasty. Decided to get the menu, which has changed since our last visit and shared the homemade black pudding scotch egg starter with my wife "Scrumptious", and ordered 2 8oz rump steaks. Great quality meat, cooked to perfection, with fresh homemade chunky chips, yummy yummy. Chef brought out a new sharing starter for us to try, which was homemade cheese cake, homemade brownies, chocolate sauce garnished with fresh stawberries and raspberries, said it was for three people, but would have been plenty for four people to share!! Will defo be back to try the other fayre, keep up the excellent standards.Oh and by the way they do accept card payments.

We recently popped into The Butchers Arms for a drink and found it to be lovely inside after the refurbishment. Very impressed, clean and fresh and up to date. We then decided we would come back for a meal, which we did last night. It was about 1800 hrs, 2 adults 1 child. We were informed straight away that food would be a while as they were very busy. We didn't mind and we appreciate being told in advance, rather than be kept waiting without knowing why. I was impressed initially dos when I ordered a child's pizza and was told it was cheese and I told the guy serving that my son really like pepperoni pizza, he said he would ask if they could make it a pepperoni. My son was very impressed when his meal arrived and he said the pepperoni pizza was delicious. He normally doesn't eat chips unless they look and taste like macdonalds fries but these chips he absolutely devoured and again said they were delicious!! I had the Rib/Chicken combo, with the said chips and they were delicious!! The chicken was beautifully cooked, very tender and tasty. The Ribs were nice but a bit dry for me, although I would definitely order the same dish again. My partner had the burger and he also loved the chips lol he did say he felt his burger was a bit dry also but he didn't leave any and overall we all enjoyed our meals. We will be back and we might try the steak next time. We sat outside after which was lovely plenty of tables in the back garden and a kids play area to keep them entertained. The staff were lovely, friendly and informative. We will be back, it might just become our local

Found this place off the beaten track and initially very pleased but the food (homemade steak and ale pie) promised more than it delivered and was quite stodgy and covered in Bisto gravy. It also took an absolute age to come.Worst aspect was the bunch of locals in the bar talking very loudly and one brassy blonde in particular using the 'f' word constantly and not being told to pipe down by the landlady who was 2 meters away. Popped in here for a much needed Sunday roast and I have to say i wasn't disappointed! The portion size was just right. Lovely homemade Yorkshire's and with been a bit of a fussy eater, I asked Craig (new head chef) to do me some "proper carrots" rather than the purée he usually used. Not a problem! However after tasting the other half's purée I wouldn't have minded that either ;)All in all a nice friendly warm pub n lovely fresh food. Will definitely be back!

Not been here for about four years due to various changes of ownership and uncertainty, despite only living a couple of miles away.Decided to pay a visit on Saturday afternoon after one of our regular haunts was closed. It's not got great decor and was fairly empty. However, we were hungary and thought we'd give the food a go (no-one else eating so no clue as to what might be served).Wasn't expecting great things but what a surprise when it arrived. Absolutely delicious.I had sausage and mash. Was expecting a couple of bangers next to a dollop of mash. No such thing. A mound of mash, sat on a bed of cabbage and a wonderful sausage ring atop. Add a gravy boat of fine onion gravy and a great lunch was had.My wife went for the Steak and Ale Pie with Chips. Once again a lovely individual pie, chips, mushy peas and gravy. Meat inside the pie was tender and tasty and, although not looking a giant size, it was very filling.Throw in a drink each for just over £20 and it was great food and very good value.

Called in for lunch while in the area. Had an excellent meal there late last year so expected something similar. When my wife and I walked in, the place looked quite grubby and there was a couple of Alsatians wandering around. After ordering our meal, the staff took these dogs out.My wife wanted the Hunters chicken, and I asked for the steak. When the food arrived, my wife's chicken had been microwaved for so long, she could not cut it and the peas were barely thawed out and were cold. Must admit the chips were quite nice, but we could have got those from the chippy down the road.

Had a lovely meal which was well presented, with a quirky difference - you will have to visit to find out for yourself!! - order the Gammon. Good friendly service and all for a reasonable price. Good old fashioned pub - should be more not less of them.

The food was very good, the choice of beers also very good. Definitely worth the visit.

Great food good service. Puddings are very good value as they're usually massive!

Awful strange service and I wasn't the only person I heard complaining about it. Nipped in for coffee, got handed a food menu and told to come back when ready to order. I said I am ready to order I just want two flat whites. Waitress just stared and then walked away. Was left at the desk confused holding two food menus. She then made a big polaver as to which seat I wanted them bringing to outside quite obviously just being awkward on purpose. Overheard the people behind me saying the exact same things. All in all it's a shame as it was probably one of the best coffees I've had in ages.
