So glad to have found a pub with great tasting ales and Sunday roasts for meat eaters (lamb, ham, turkey and beef) and more than enough choice of yummily cooked vegetables for vegetarians ( roast pots, mash, carrot and swede, sprouts, red cabbage, stuffing, Yorkshire pud, peas, baked creamed cauliflower, roast parsnips). Very tasty food and the gravy was delicious. Am just waiting for my rhubarb crumble and custard to arrive. Prices are very reasonable and I very much look forward to my next Sunday lunch here.

Visited the Inn at the Bush .. On my way back from glencoe in Scotland... I walked in dripping wet after riding a Honda monkey bike for 5 hours in torrential rain... Yellow weather warning... I hadn't booked and hoped they would have somewhere for me to pitch my tent.... Absolutely no problem the owner said.... Get your self set up and we will sort your food out for you.. He showed me all of the facilities which were excellent .. A covered outdoor area that had furniture and a TV if the weather was bad. My meal came out and was superb... Steak chips peas mushrooms.... Couldn't fault it... Cleared my plate... Normally if I go in a pub that I don't know I sit in the corner... But the locals made me feel welcomed... Spent the evening sharing stories of my trip... And they shared some local spots for dog walking... My camping spot was perfect and the toilets were open all night... The covered area was a godsend in the morning to pack all my stuff up... Because it was raining....i think it was following me lol.. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here 👌thanks budgie

Very friendly place, very welcoming and generous, helpful hosts, and a decent kitchen with a changing and varied menu. Dinner and breakfast are important as an offering, as this place is a little remote. The pub is the centre of the village, with many locals and travellers visiting and staying. The room we had was a little snug but did have everything you wanted, inc tea making facilities.

We had been for a drink and seen they had a gluten free menu and a buffet lunch on a Sunday. We booked for the Sunday lunch husband is coeliac and the chef was fantastic he took gammon and turkey I took both and beef (all 3) loads of meat help urself to veg and gravy only thing husband couldn’t have was the stuffing balls and Yorkshire pudding (although she attempted to make him one lol) gravy and cauliflower cheese were both gluten free and we loaded up our plates. Next time we will take advantage of the free taxi so hubby can have a drink as well. And get this there was a choice of gluten-free desserts he choose a crumble with lashings of custard. Not 5 star because I adore gravy and because it caters for all food choices and dietary needs not the roast beef gravy I wanted so u could say a 4 and a half star. Definitely now our go to place as we own a caravan near by. Book it gets busy.

Very popular locals pub that does a brisk trade in drink and pub food. Great experience for our group of bikers heading to Scotland. I gave it 4 last year as there was no shower, but that’s sorted so it gets a 5. Breakfast for us was a full English and at £15.00 it was the dearest of our week away, but it was superb.

My wife and I,and two friends visited for Sunday lunch(carvery) You pick what meat you want or mixed, and they give you your plate with the meat and a Yorkshire pudding on,you then help yourself to mash potatoes, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, vegetables, stuffing, and gravy. They also had 2 sweets on the menu today, trifle and rhubarb crumble and custard. Excellent value for money and excellent service, what more do you need?maybe a lift to the pub,no problem, just give them a ring, and they will come for you locally. My husband had the homemade (non gf) steak pie, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Sadly, we were too full for dessert and too tired to stay for the pub quiz, so Colin kindly drove us back to our B&B;, and returned, taking a detour on another drop off, to return something I'd left in his car. After reading all the reviws we were really looking forward to a meal here. So, on my birthday two friends and I drove to Kirkbride and asked if they were still serving at 2 o'clock, when they said yes we asked to see the menu but all there was on offer was sandwiches and jacket potatoes. I asked for a jacket potato with tuna - no tuna, OK then ham - no ham so I settled for butter. One friend had cheese and onion and the other just cheese with their jacket potato. When they came mine was fine but one was cold and the other partly uncooked so they were returned. Considering the cost was over £3.00 for each we were very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending it to anyone.

We went for lunch during the week. Stood waiting at the bar until a lady decided she would come over and serve us. Passed us a menu, said she would be with us in a moment and scuttled off. So we stood there for a bit waiting for her to come back so we could order drinks whilst we looked at the menu. A few minutes passed, we gave up and sat at a table where we had a view of the kitchen. She had disappeared to make herself a coffee, never mind the customers I guess.

The Bush's menu is okay. Just what you'd expect from a basic village pub. No issues there. The food is fine. Nothing special, a bit of a microwave vibe to some of it, slightly overdone/dry veggies. The service is okay (a friendly barmaid; a not-so-friendly one). The beer is acceptable but a dull range (Speckled Hen or Greene King IPA).

Nine of us descended on this quintessential village pub for dinner. Even though most of us had different meals, all the dishes came out at the same time and were cooked perfectly. The portions were all very generous and I was beaten by the size of my roast duck. Three kinds of potatoes, new, mashed and chips were served separately in baskets for us all to help ourselves, there was still some left after we had our fill. The pub itself has a pool table, and dominoes tables, all ages are catered for and it is obviously a popular hub of the village.

First place we came to the Bush Inn Kirkbride, Modern but pleasant interior, and amazing value two freshly made (warm) baguettes and 2 large coffees £8.00! The standard of the food was great. Chatted to the only othe customer and the owner and had some good advice: get an ice cream at Allonby on the way round the coast, they were great!

A friend and I have been visiting Kirkbride regularly over the last few months undertaking flying training at the nearby Kirkbride airfield with Chris Jones Gyrocopters (which was fantastic and subject to another review). However another highlight of our trips has been visiting the Bush pub every night while in the area for our meals. The food is excellent and simply great value for money. The staff are all really friendly and very helpful. Actually the local customers also gave us a warm welcome every time we visited. I really wish the Bush was my local. Everything a great pub should be. If you are in the area you really should take the time to pop in. Very highly recommended

We were surprised to find somewhere so good in such a fairly remote place. The food was excellent & so tasty that two of us over-ate & couldn't eat another morsel. Will be going back again soon.

During our visit to the area we visited The Bush Inn twice, the second time for Sunday lunch. We both chose the 'small portion' of Roast Beef but to call this small was doing it an injustice. The portions were more than enough and offered excellent value for money.

I have visited for a weekday meal. The starter was unimaginative, some sort of boiled pork belly with butchered iceberg 'garnish'. The beef cheek was the excellent, but let down by the packet mash.

We were looking for a pub lunch, and didn't know the area. I had Sea Trout, and my friend had rib eye steak, both with chips and salad. Generous servings, and the fish had been locally caught. Excellent food, and very friendly, efficient service

We came here for lunch at the end of a bike ride drawn by the the signboard advertising fresh Solway fish. Alas the salmon had not swum that recently in those waters despite the assurances of the waitresses. The vegetables of cauliflower, leeks and red cabbage sounded inviting but were very bland.

We visited the Bush Inn today after glamping in nearby Bowness on Solway. The staff were really welcoming, locals were friendly, and above all else, our dog was welcome- something which is hard to find a lot of the time. It was very clean, toilets were impeccable, food was lovely and very well priced. We even went back to the campsite and recommended to others.

We Decided to pop in for lunch and wasn't disappointed, real ale was in good condition, just had 2 steaks, very nice with all the usual extras onion rings, mushroom, salad and a mountain of "proper", chips....good news for the washer upper, we left nothing, throughly enjoyed the meal, I like a bit of haggis with my steak, and it was excellent, especially with the peppercorn sauce, didn't have to wait long as it was near the end of serving which was 2:30, a lot of places only do food till 2pm in the area, couple of cyclists enjoying food and drink as its a very flat area with lovely scenery, will definitely return

We were a group of 4 tired, hungry and thirsty walkers who, earlier in the day, had walked the stretch of Hadrian's Wall between Carlisle and Bowness on Solway. Our B&B; hosts at Bowness pointed us towards the Bush for an evening meal, and it was a great choice. We arrived at about 7pm on a Friday evening to a really nice village pub, choosing a table by the welcoming open fire. A few locals were in enjoying a couple of beers after the working week. There was a very extensive and reasonably priced dinner menu. We eventually settled on a couple of rib eye steaks, a Cumberland sausage platter and a veggie lasagne. The food was tasty, portions more than adequate for our ravenous little band, and generally very good. We washed down the meal with a pint (or two) of the 2 cask ales on offer that night – Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA. It was hard to prise ourselves away from the fire when it came time to leave, but eventually we did. On the way out, we spoke with Mark, the owner. He had taken over the run down pub in 2015 and fully refurbished it, including the addition of a modern kitchen. What a welcome change to the usual depressing trend of rural pub closures and, ahem, full marks to Mark.
