We visited here as a party of 12 guys. We had prebooked so we had tables reserved. The hotel has a decent amount of parking but it was busy and we got one of the last parking spaces. Despite living locally, I had never been in the hotel before. The lobby area looks good. The restaurant is fine - nothing fancy. The service was pretty good - especially as we were such a large party. The food was good - I had soup followed by chicken fajitas and both servings were sizeable. Everyone enjoyed the food. The prices were fairly reasonable.

4 of us had dinner last night it was very disappointing. 2 things we ordered for our main meal were finished. 2 of us had streak pie. The meat was very hard and the veg was the same. The Lasagne was over heated in the microwave it came with french fries no garnish at all. The desserts were fine although again the salted caramel was also finished. Very disappointing . 2 soft drinks 4 pints and 2 coffees 4 main meals and 4 desserts £94.00 so not worth the money or the effort of travelling there.

Great to see the bar and beer garden open. The safety measures in place for covid are fine and the staff are very welcoming. The food and service today was extremely good. The wings and the sweet and sour chicken were cooked to perfection. Also the Guinness on tap is heavenly and we'll worth leaving the car at home to scoop a few cold ones.

I have been into the restaurant on four separate occasions now and the service is very confusing and poor to say the least. The first time I called and booked the table for dinner and drinks. I arrived and was told to sit at anytime table I wanted. After ten minutes had to ask the bar staff for menus. Fifteen minutes later I had to go to the bar and order drinks and my food for myself and others at the table. After dinner I had to take my own plates to the bar and order more drinks as no one came near the time at all. When they did come to the table they asked if we wanted to order food after we’d had our main courses! Similar experiences happened on all three further visits. I must say the food on all occasions has been very nice and is what brought me back. If the waiting staff paid more attention to customers having dinner as of it was a restaurant it would make the place far better and probably busier.

This was a late Luncheon that was held afterwards, for those whom attended my Mother-In-Law's Funeral. The reception area, and Restaurant environs were warm, and welcoming. We were given plenty of time for mingling, with drinks etc, before the Lunch was served. It was also easily accessable for those with mobility issues. There was a choice of Fish and Chips or Steak Pie. My Fish was VERY well done, and to me tasted as fresh as I've ever been served in any restaurant. The chips were a generous portion, well prepared, with Peas on the side. All was served piping hot, and to me, the food was presented immediately from the Chef's hands, in other words not like it sat under hot-lights waiting to be picked-up, which was an outstanding experience for the Diners. I would 100% recommend this venue for any event! I was proud that Burnside can offer an event venue of such fine quality. Very well done!

Decided to stop for a drink on the way home from shopping in the city. Excellent service, drinks were perfect, so we decided to order their appetizer platter to go with a second round. What a mistake. The worst food I can ever think of eating. There were no vege pakoras, which is what we particularly asked for, the rest was tasteless and /or greasy. Instead of any type of pakoras, there were meatballs that tasted like round balls of charcoal. The sauces were equally tasteless. The nachos, which we asked to be left off was a solid hard piece of melted cheddar with tortilla crisps...you would need a chisel! We also asked for the chicken wings to be left off. I do not know what they sent, but the sight of it made me ill. It was orange, cold and hard..we could not even cut it. The onion rings, which we thought might be edible were thawed from frozen with lots of breading and absolutely slimy, soaking in oil and not even warm. Here are a couple of photos...the solid mass of cheese & tortilla crisps and the orange pieces of brick. To void disappointment, do not order the appetizer platter!

We went into the Burny for a family dinner and both ordered the roast beef dinner. It was excellent! The Yorkshire Pudding was clearly homemade and humongous, the beef was very tasty and the gravy was lovely as well. I was a gluten free menu as I have coeliac disease, again this was included in the meal deal which was great value for money! I had bruschetta to start, gf steak pie then gf brownie to finish. We hired the candelabras instead of decorating ourselves with balloons etc which I would thoroughly recommend as they were well worth the money. However the last twice we have visited I have ordered the pate and on the first occasion I thought they may be running out of it as the portion was a tablespoon of pate only. Today I witnessed the same portion size and happened to say to the waitress about the portion and was informed it was a new chef and it was to enough for oatcakes - well not in my opinion. Myself and two friends visited the restaurant for a bite to eat a catch up. Restaurant is nice however bit of TLC required. Thankfully no loud tv's so we were able to chat properly. We all ordered Macaroni Cheese with fries which was nice until a large shard of plastic was found. This could of caused some serious damage to someones teeth or get lodged in someones throat. We told the waitress of the find who advised "I'll make the chefs aware, this isn't the first time this has happened." We were given an slight apology however I don't feel the right customer service was given. Kitchen staff need to be more careful as the issue clearly hasn't been resolved if plastic has been found in food on more than one occasion. Dissapointed. As it is a local restaurant/pub we do venture in every few months to see if anything has improved unfortunately this will be our last visit for food.

Have eaten here many times as live local. They have recently got another new head chef which first thing has done is reduce the portion sizes and increased prices. You will now pay city centre prices to eat local. However don`t expect cc quality or service. My niece ordered the mussels after a long wait for them returned them as they were so poor. The young girl that was serving her rolled her eyes and went to walk away. A complaint was made to the general manager about her shocking attitude. So if you want small expensive portions served by bar staff that are not food service trained or internested about your dining experience then this is the place to go.

We brought my in laws for a mothers day late lunch/early dinner at 3:30pm and booked through 5pm to get 20% off. I had my 9 month old and as she fell asleep on the way in we asked if we could get a booth instead of the table they had reserved for us (we had forgotten her buggy) it was no problem despite being very busy and they gave me a high chair for when she woke up.We ordered 4 starters, 5 adult meals and 3 desserts off the bistro menu. It is most definitely good pub grub but very well presented, beautifully cooked and at under £60 with the 5pm deal, incredible value. We also had 3 soft drinks, 2 shandys and a pint of beer. Our food included the beer battered haddock, the macaroni cheese and the roast beef and yorkshire puddings. Our starters were soup, jalapeno peppers and the bruschetta, desserts were sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake and meringue alexander. I would not hesitate to recommend any of these dishes. The Burnside Hotel looks a little dated but the restaurant has obviously been decorated, the hotel entrance however does feel warm and friendly, welcoming and comfortable. They obviously hold functions day and night so the atmosphere is one of people coming together and it was really busy when we were there so all things considered I am surprised how smoothly our service ran.The Burnside is not trying to reinvent the food wheel, there are no surprises other than at this value you can eat and drink a meal that is thoroughly enjoyable, with children in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere, I will definitely consider it for functions and large family meals in future and we'll definitely be back for another meal soon. The only thing that didn't work was the card machine so we had to pay at reception - only afterwards did we realise none of us had left a tip...... If our next meal meets the same standard of service, I'll leave double!

My partner and I could see the cheese, smell it and taste it. The staff refused to take it back, saying there was no cheese in it. I refused to eat it yet they still tried to charge me for it. My partner found his steak to be cheap and dry, considering the price. Overall, the staff ignored us until they wanted the table and then the pressured us to leave. I found them aggressive, rude and my meal was horrid. I would never go there again. Their only saving grace is that the drinks are moderately priced.

We went here on a Saturday night as a group of 8 people. It took ages to order our food and the restaurant was not even busy. Once our orders were taken by the rude waitress it took over an hour for the food to come. When the waitress was bringing out the last two meals she dropped them on the floor ( accidents do happen) however no apology or a quick sorry I will get your food ASAP nothing she just walked off and I presumed she was going to get me another meal. The food was awful the chilli was so salty it was inedible the chicken burger was like rubber and the meal that was served as my replacement was a tiny tiny piece of chicken ( quick to cook when you drop meals on the floor) my plate was full of chips I would have been better getting a bag of chips at the local chip shop. Nobody ( staff) had a clue what was going on nobody in charge waitresses that had not got a clue what was going on. After our meal we sat waiting for ages to order desserts despite asking twice. When I went to the bar to ask about ordering desserts we were told the kitchen was closed so I said I don't think so . The desserts were brought with cold custard ( meant to be hot). My advise is don't waste your money or Time (unless you have lots) in here it's overpriced rubbish with a crap service. The Burnside has been our local bar for ten years. Mainly for Sunday afternoon drinks but we have also eaten there several times over the years. First, The Good - The main bar has quite recently had a refurb and looks very nice. The staff are all quite young but I've always found them to be helpful and efficient. It's family friendly and there are loads of outdoor picnic benches which are great in Summer. Now the bad - In the ten years we have been going to the Burnside, the food has been consistently poor. Everything tastes cheap and microwaved. This would be almost acceptable if the food was very cheap but it's not. Main courses are around ten pounds and are of similar quality to a Whetherspoons I would say. In this day and age, this is unacceptable and there are many pubs and restaurants in Glasgow doing food of a very high standard for similar prices to the Burnside. I find it strange that they have spent so much money recently in improving the decor of the bar and haven't remotely improved the standard of the food. I Doubt we'll be back, which is a shame as it has a lot going for it.

Food quality and portion size has definitely went downhill since our last visit and the service was pretty poor. Very short staffed and they shut the kitchen at 8'o'clock so I think they were short staffed in the kitchen too - food took an age to come out. Hated it. The room was dated and depressing, hole in the window from outside, cracked tiles around the bath, floor boards from 1970,s. When running a bath water went cold and then gushed out of shower head wetting my hair. Poor fabrication in hall, just wood untreated, stained carpets. When someone walked down the passage way it sounded like they where coming into my room because the floor boards are so poor. Food was good and it had a nice atmosphere. Only drawback, which is often an issue, was the large TV screen over the bar area. Been to this local venue several times now. Keen to support local businesses however the business needs to care about the customer and act on feedback. Sadly the Burnside does neither. Menu pretty typical bar fare and as such most dishes come with fish. Every time we have had to send them back. Hard and anaemic looking with no taste whatsoever. We mentioned this to one of the waitresses and got an excuse about new the of chips etc but our latest visit exactly the same.Staff are all young and friendly and polite but no leadership at all. We tried to get table for 2 in large lounge and despite there're being a table not cleared of used dishes plus another table with one chair there was no attempt to accommodate us. We were sent into the small lounge which was very hot. Do we leave or not? We decided to get a drink and just wait until someone left - not exactly a welcoming start. Service is poor as there is often nobody at the bar either. Desperately needs a manager!C'mon Burnside there is lots of competition and customers will tire of the poor service and inability to fry a frozen chip and vote with their feet!

Went here for dinner last night. Given that this is the only eatery in the area, there is a captive audience and sadly this seems to make the food offered relatively bland. The roast beef dinner was disappointing: the beef being thin slices of 'sandwich' beef; frozen veg and frozen potatoes. The salad was average. For me, this is a lazy kitchen with little creativity. On the plus side, the service was good from the very young waiting staff. Come on get some 'real' homely food cooked, please.

She was glad of the advice ! . when the meals arrived i thought the girl had got the table wrong , it was the smallest portion of lasagne and chips Ive ever had the misfortune to have placed in front of me , the other ones with us had beer battered haddock with chips and was amazed to see a small metal bucket with chips in it , you could count the amount of chips in the bucket ! , fish was mostly batter ! , if your going on an empty stomach , avoid this place like the plague ! . when i said that the portions were so small , i got a story about upper management . in the mean time i went to the kings cafe in Rutherglen and got first class service , and a decent meal . " honestly " don't eat here , i certainly wont , nor the other girls ! . fur mein deutsche freundes ! . nicht gut zu essen hier , unfreundlich , deinst schlecht , sehr , sehr kleine platte zu essen . schlechte leute und das koch , mein gott , schmeiden .

Visited Lanark this summer, and wanted a dog friendly pub for a quick drink. To say this place is dog friendly is a huge understatement - the staff made me and my spaniel puppy feel really welcome - they offered to cook some chicken goujons for him, which he loved. We returned for lunch the following day. I had an amazing burger and again puppy got some beef for his lunch and also given a takeaway box for him for later. Thank you for being so friendly.

Never open when it says it is. Google says it’s open and when you go down it’s shut. Happened a couple times to us now. Last time we ordered on their website and then they were shut when we went to collect the already paid for meal. Today went to order in person as it said online they were open and again it’s shut.

Cosy, clean, and also very good noise level, which is appreciated by neurodivergent people! The food and drinks are delicious, and there's an amazing range to try. There are a ton of vegetarian and vegan options for food and drink, and a wonderful staff member helped to customise a drink to make it decaf and vegan! The staff are all lovely and helpful, and are so quick at making everything that it's almost surreal. We'll definitely be back!
