Burlington's in Enfield

My order turned up wrong. I called to complain and they couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. New order arrived in 10 mins and was perfect. We’ve ordered a few times now and the food is always great. (Especially the fish) Thanks guys.

It’s very unusual for us to have fish and chips as it’s so unhealthy. We decided this Friday to have a treat and went to Burlingtons as it was sunny we had it as a takeaway to sit in the garden. I’m not kidding when I tell you in all my years I’ve never tasted such an awful piece of haddock. We both had a piece that had hardly any substance and the batter was so over cooked and tasted awful. We tried to eat of it what we could and wrapped the rest up to take back as it’s not cheap at £24 for 2 but we was too busy to travel back so we took photos to show them when we are next passing. Not that I think we’d get our money back but it may teach them not to serve such terrible food. Save your money and find somewhere else to get your dinner.

After reading a review on Trip Advisor that the pie and mash was good I decided to try it. It’s not. Really disappointing. I’ve been eating pie and mash for over 65 years and this wasn’t very good (and expensive). I much prefer Manze’s.

We came here for supper on a quiet Saturday evening,we have been here many times and are usually happy with the food and the service,not this time. I ordered the salmon and it only comes with chips,the salad is extra!(£3.00 in fact!). The salmon was very small and the hollandase sauce was horrible! The manager(not very pleasant) explained that salad only comes with the fried fish and couldnt give me a reasonable explanation as to why this is! Now the drinks,a bottle of coke costs £2.90 and a small cup of tea £1.90! When we complained to the manager,he said Pizza Hut charge even more for a coke,not a good answer! We shall not return to this rip off restaurant,there are much nicer fish and chip restaurants in the area!

We visit this reataurant frquntly as it is local to us and there is no need to book.I had the grilled salmon(trying to be more healthy!),hubby had the fried haddock as usual.The food is very nice but I was surprised that the meals didnt come with salad and the cups of tea were very small.

Got a take away lunch special and it was disgusting.Raw old darl looking fish, full of fat and gristle.Batter was soggy and drenched in oil.I have been eating fish and chips all my life and this was the worst.Usually I save some for my cat, but I wouldn’t even give this to her!!!!!Won’t be spending my money in there again. Now waiting for a bellyache

Food was excellent, as always and the prices are very reasonable. I do not recall a dine-in or home delivery where the fish, chicken, sausage in batter or chips were less than excellent.

Over priced soggy oiled fish. Chips some were black. Whole thing was tasteless. Man serving looked miserable Wouldn’t mind paying if the food was nice but gross. Manky chips like they served years ago with black bits. Just gross. Won’t ever go there again.

We have been here a few times as its only five minutes from home.I usually have the lemon goujons and hubby has the medium haddock,all served with chips!very nice!we need to support our local,independent businesses in these uncertain times.

Poor food. Cannot cook chips, and fish is average. Used to go regularly but enough is enough. Would not recommend

Acabo de comprar una cena familiar de pescado y patatas fritas. Después de pasar 21 en el restaurante y tener que esperar en el frío durante 15 minutos, recibí la comida y el pescado chorreaba aceite y las patatas fritas estaban blancas y sin cocer. A veces, la comida aquí es buena y otras no es agradable. Es muy poco confiable y no lo recomendaría.

Acabo de tener una comida para llevar para mi familia y, para ser sincero, nada salió bien.Pedí 2 eglefino con patatas fritas, 1 bacalao con patatas fritas y 1 calamares para llevar.Todo el pescado estaba frío. Recién pescado frito y patatas fritas prefiero pedir que freír el pescado fresco a la orden una vez que me dieron un pescado pasada y patatas fritas. Pero cuando recién frito es muy bueno uno de los mejores de la zona. Si comer en recién fritos

He estado frecuentando este establecimiento por un número de años, y aunque es algo de tiempo desde mi última visita, su extraordinaria calidad y frescura del pescado ha permanecido igual. Puede que no sea el más elegante restaurante de la ciudad, pero si estás buscando un gran pescado, bien caliente y buena relación calidad-precio, este es el "solla". Los tamaños de comida también son grandes, así que es aconsejable ir allí con un buen apetito para apreciar la experiencia. Recomendaría echarle un vistazo a las ofertas especiales para algo un poco diferente, aunque el pescado tradicional maltratada es siempre bueno.

Ci siamo passati un sacco di volte davanti, ma mai fermati, oggi è stata l'occasione giusta. Cibo abbondante e ottimo pesce fritto e non pesante locale accogliente in stile nautico. Ho riscoperto il fish and chips.

Visitamos un viernes por la noche como una familia de 4. Compartimos un plato de whitebait y calamares. Estos fueron excelentes y las porciones fueron generosas. Mi marido optó por el bacalao y las patatas fritas. El bacalao era tan grande que no cabía en el plato. Fui por el plato mixto que tenía bacalao, eglefino, gambas, langostinos, calamares. Estaba delicioso. La pasta era tan crujiente y ligera. Las fichas y ensaladas acompañantes también fueron buenas. Ingredientes claramente frescos. Los niños les encantaron sus scampi y patatas fritas. El servicio fue atento. El único inconveniente es que la habitación trasera está muy fría. Originalmente estábamos sentados allí pero sin calefacción hacía mucho frío. Afortunadamente, pudimos movernos a una mesa en la parte delantera, que era mucho más cálida.

My mother and I fancied a fish shop supper for a change. Not something she has very often. We decided to go and eat in. It's typical of the sort of chippy that has some eat-in seating, nothing fancy. We ordered our fish, cod and haddock, just one portion of chips to share as my mother has little appetite and a portion of gravy. We waited as long as it took to cook the food. It came piping hot, nice big pieces of fish (although we chose medium size), the best chips and nice thick tasty gravy. The fish was crispy, not over battered and not greasy. I introduced my Mum to the Northern delights of chips and gravy. We enjoyed it all. The fish defeated Mum but not for want of trying. With two cups of tea it all came to £21. It was exactly what I'd hoped for and so rarely get from a fish shop. I've read the other reviews but honestly I loved it!

Fuimos como una familia tratan y el servicio y la comida era fabulosa. El pescado y las patatas fritas era el mejor que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Fue agradable y fresco y las raciones eran buenas. No podía resistirme a tener una casa en el desierto hizo y el budín de pan y manteca fue simplemente perfecto. Sin duda recomiendo este lugar si estás en la zona y sin duda volveremos.

Mi esposa realmente me apetecía solla y patatas, así que fuimos allí para el almuerzo. Tuve abadejo y patatas fritas con un lado de guisantes blandos. Comimos en y el servicio era bastante bueno. Tuvimos que esperar un poco ya que el pescado estaba preparado a pedido, lo cual es bueno en mi libro.

We are big fans of Burlingtons. However, on our last visit it took forever to get our food. Only one person serving and the line was out the door. On top of that everyone was paying with card for small amounts and it took forever!

He estado un par de veces y Burlingtons es algo impredecible, y con respecto a la calidad del pescado. En esta ocasión el pescado bacalao era horrible. Creo que estaba preparado y a la orden, pero el no era genial en qulaity todos, la calidad y la frescura del pescado en sí era extremadamente pobre. El bateador en sí era decente. Las patatas fritas eran bien preparado y era muy agradable y el tamaño plato fue bueno como siempre. Hay aproximadamente 6 mesas tipo cabina y creo hay asientos extra en la parte de atrás. El servicio en general es bueno y el personal es atento. Burlingtons es un lugar decente para conseguir el pescado y patatas fritas, pero la calidad de pescado bacalao puede ser inconsistente.

Gran restaurante de marisco, sin duda lo recomendaría y volvería de nuevo. Buena selección de comida y generoso tamaño de las porciones.

Stopped off for eat in evening meal about 20.00 no problems open till approx 22.00!, Had double pie an mash with gravy, plenty of food for £6.50 !! Good waitress service.not always easy to get parked near,but worth try if near

Went on a quiet evening so served quickly. We both had Cod, or as it states on the menu, God and chips. The chips looked very pale, but were hot and tasty. Fish was lovely with a good batter. It was served with a wedge of iceberg with tartare sauce.Been before and would go again. Hadn't been for a least two or three years but didn't see a notable change.

Went there two days ago. Ordered large cod, chips and mushy peas. Paid £11. Only live 100 yards away, so food soon on a plate. Peas were cold, chips were cold and disgusting and the fish was cold and the batter soggy. It is a shame as the portions were good and the fish itself was good quality. Maybe it is all down to when you get there, but that is no way to run a business. Food should be kept hot and edible.

We went for lunch after being recommended by a friend. We both ordered large cod which came with chips and salad. Whilst waiting for our order to arrive, which took about 20 minutes, the man doing the frying carried on a loud conversation with some friends of his ( not customers). This was very off putting and made our conversation almost impossible. When our meal arrived a portion of curry sauce was forgotten. When it came it looked like a bowl of sick and was at best like warm. The cod was very large but looked like it had been reheated and not fresh as the menu says. The chips had obviously been fried for some time and were tepid. Altogether this meal was horrible. Any cook who can't serve food fresh and hot to the table should find another job.

Admittedly it's been a while since I was last here and it looks like it's changed hands since then. Big portions although I suspect they don't actually know what goujons are. The mushrooms are no longer battered but instead good in a garlic sauce, ok, but I preferred their old way of doing them. Wait was quite long for seated service, 25 minutes when no else was there.

Love a takeaway from Burlingtons, great fish at a good price. Big fan of a battered sausage and chips

Ordered cod,chips, curry sauce and a saveloy and it was disgusting. If you're going to tell your punters that you're cooking fresh chips, at least have the decency to actually cook them rather than not giving a damn and rushing and serving your customers rubbish. The cod batter was soggy , chips were undercooked, the curry sauce was a thick dollop of horribleness and the saveloy had crusty ends. If you've no love left for your own business , sell, get out and let some one with passion and desire serve the local area with quality fish and chips.

I ordered Whitebait starter and Large Cod & Chips.The portion of whitebait was surprisingly large and, after eating it I felt quite full. But it was SPOILED by a dressing on the salad garnish. It would be much better to let the customer put his own dressing on salad. If I had realised, when I ordered, I would have requested NAKED salad.The Cod & Chips were a large portion too (and I asked to take home what I could NOT finish) but again spoiled by Salad - and dressed salad too.The bench seating and chairs were fixed to the floor; I had trouble fitting in the gap between the bench and the table; I later found that there were proper tables and chairs in a back room and wish I had looked around before sitting down.Without the salad, it would have been FIVE STARS

Fish is largeUsually have Halibut with a garlic sauce for which we provide our own cut hot green chillies to add to the sauce prep.Chips are fantastic.Service interactive.This is a Gem.

We have recently become lunchtime regulars. The set lunch at £7.50 for OAPs or £8.50 is exceptional value. With 4 choices of starters and main courses. I have tried whitebait starter which is delicious ad mad an avocado, smoked salmon with hollandaise sauce starter. Main courses include calimari and grilled tuna steak with Provençal sauce both of which were delicious. The most surprising thing here is the excellent pie,mash & liquer.I am from the East End and theirs is just like I used to have. The home made desserts are really good too. Not a smart or romantic place but excellent food at a reasonable price.

Great food and great atmosphere on a Saturday night. The fish and chips was large and very enjoyable and there was many other options to have alongside or instead of the English seaside classic of the battered fish. Great place and would definitely return soon.

Ordered Large Cod and Chips. Got large cold soggy mash potato. The cod batter was soft and soggy. The cod itself was overcooked, greasy and like mush.Don't waste your time - worst meal I've ever had

An excellent sit in fish and chip shop . Chips were crispy and the cod huge. Fish cakes weren't gourmet and salad not their strong point but for large cod and chips with a large mug of tea there won't be anywhere better locally .

Very decent portions. Don't think you'd need to go for the large unless your a greedy guts. Not to greasy. Service ok. Nothing to complain about. Had better fish and chips elsewhere. But also had worse.

Visited this fish restaurant some years ago. Pleased to see that remains one of the best in the country. Ladies on diets best advise is to order a child's size portion. Friend and I had the Burlington platter; Med cod, med haddock, 4 calamari, 4 scampi 4 butterfly prawns with salad and then a bowl of chips.Wow, a real trouser buster. Alcohol a tad high, but no complaints aboutv the freshness and cooked to order fish.

Really fancied some fish and chips so me and my husband decided to treat the family to a feast! Never have we been so disappointed with everything.We ordered two large portion of chips, (or should I say mash potato!!) They were disgusting! They were all soft and clumped together, we had to serve with a spoon!We also ordered some sausages and savaloy which were OK, but the battered cod was by far the worst fish we had ever eaten! I'm pretty certain that battered cod should have a nice crispy skin and not soggy!!I would have appreciated my fish and chips to have been fried fresh instead of pre made!Never will I ever visit Burlington's again!! Yuck!!!!!

Have been using Burlingtons for years as it is our local chippy. Eat in sometimes and the quality is excellent and portions huge. Staff are always friendly and helpful. Have just booked for tonight which is what prompted me to write this review!

Love this place. Portion is very generous. Freshly cut chips and fresh fish. wholesome for the whole family.

We love Burlies! We live in Enfield Town and this is our favourite place for a large, hot, tasty plate of food. Loads of choice from traditional Cod and chips (enormous!) the usual chip shop favourites, and lots of grilled fish dishes and always great specials in beautiful sauces. Our fave is the skate in black butter which is simply amazing! Chips are delicious and not thin as stated in another review. They are proper chunky chip shop chips. There are also pies and other meat dishes and also an amazing pie n mash with chilli vinegar! Nice seating in booths and very friendly staff. Will always visit Burlingtons!

A nice fish restaurant that prepares food to order, nice friendly staff and they have parking outside the restaurant. A really enjoyable meal, will definitely go again during my next visit

We love this resturant and have both take away and eat in regularly. Ate here with family today and fresh trout lovely as all food was. Great value for money

We arrived at 2.00 and were quickly seated Dad and I went for the fish soup which was very good nice flavour and packed with fish it is a broth style soup!My mum and the wife had home made mushroom soup also great Dad had steak pie and chips again home made Mum had battered skate chips and salad all good The wife had Rock chips and mushy peas again well cooked batter was a bit thick but thoI went for the grilled halibut with mustard sauce and wilted spinach Again well cooked Mum dad and the wife had desert a treacle pudding a sorbet and an ice cream all delicious We had mid range wine Jacobs creek at £15 a bottle 1 red 1 white and I had an efes Turkish beer Total bill was £109 not bad for 4 dinnersOne complaint it was very cold in there but they put the air con blower to hot and it warmed up Second complaint the red wine was way to cold don't think it was in fridge just out the back where it was freezing! Pleasant waitress

The seating area and service is good. However, I find the prices too high and the chips are awful. They are too thin and probably have been cooked in an oil which gives them a nasty taste

I returned to this restaurant again, as although it is not particularly local, the journey is always worthwhile. I can recommended the duo of starters calamari & whitebait or calamari & scampi.Then followed by grilled haddock in a butter & garlic sauce, with excellent non-greasy chunky chips and mushy peas with a salad garnish.For great value and excellent fish dishes, Burlington's is the place to go.

Good food a little bit on the expensive side. Small quiet restaurant, also had takeaway connected to it. Generally, the restaurant feels cold. Ideal for quiet night out.

Burlingtons is a great place if you want takeaway fish 'n' chips or a sit down meal. My favourite is halibut with garlic sauce. The food is excellent and great value for money. They also have a lunchtime special menu which is even better value, so it's really worth a try. The portions are large and the chips are what I would call "proper"!

Excellent freshly cooked fish, and cooked how you want it. Huge portions, fisn n chips as it should be!

A great menu with quality fish dishes and very generous portions.The décor is very old fashioned and is not the kind of place for a romantic dinner. Having said that, if you are looking for well prepared fish at reasonable prices, then the surroundings can easily be ignored. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Its a great chippy to get your weekly fix from. The fish prices can be quite dear but you pay for a large piece of fish. On this occasion, we sat in the restaurant area and we ordered cod hoping they would get it out to us quickly with ones in the warmer. Unfortunately they decided to cook them fresh which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't take over 40 minutes. The result is piping hot fish that will burn your mouth because your impatient to wait for the fish to cool down after waiting so long for it. It wont deter me from going here again, but next time I will ask for a takeaway.

This is my favourite fish and chip shop. The value is outstanding and always cooked fresh. Price is excellent and service is good also.

The take-away part is like stepping into a time-warp; very reminiscent of an old style chippie and a pleasant rarity, as a result. Restaurant area basic but compensated by the huge portions of freshly cooked good quality fish. B's has a varied menu and is licensed for alcohol. Well worth a visit.
