Delicious food, lovely comfortable, clean and welcoming

Burgers were outstanding. Service speedy and lovely However, this place is tiny. If you are of generous body proportions you will struggle to get in the front door as it is a double leaf and one side is kept closed and locked. Tables are so close together it's 'wings in' at all times.

Super burger joint with a clear theme running throughout the place. Top notch food with brilliant service, the staff even put a birthday candle in my wife's main course! Very accommodating for our pram considering how small the restaurant is. Definitely worth a visit.

I enjoyed a veggie burger lunch at this comfortable restaurant today, just a short walk along Fossgate and over the bridge from the south end of The Shambles. I appreciated the friendly welcome, relaxed atmosphere, and good food on a cold day. Thank you! I hope to eat here again.

Eaten here before but a few years ago, burgers are the best I've ever tasted, I was with 3 others and they all said it was also the best they've ever had. Simple food done perfectly, I would recommend to anyone. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the meat you get. The S'mores over a fire are a nice touch.

Vegetarian option was a must try even for the die hard meat lovers! The beef burger was nicely cooked but nothing special, you won't miss something if you skip it. The vibe was nice and friendly staff.

Great little place, away from the hussle and bussel of the main York centre. Staff very welcoming and food amazing, definitely worth going! I'll be going again and will book next to secure my table.

Delicious food , well cooked burger and fries served with homemade tomato sauce, hot and tasty, only criticism is the burger was served on a brioche bun which is too sweet for my taste buds not sure if there was an option to change the burger bun to something plainer the dessert menu is limited on choice with nothing to grab your taste buds .

We had an amazing time here this afternoon. We were meeting friends and they had booked a table but had not remembered we would have the pram and toddler with us. The lady running the place was so accommodating and helped store our pram and made sure we had space for our little one to play and feel comfortable. We were made to feel so welcome and not at all that a toddler was a hindrance (as a toddler parent this has been hard to come by when dining out) she was very attentive to our needs and always checked up on our toddler. The food was fantastic and we will definitely be back again. Thank you again for give two parents a stress free lunch out. X

Lovely small restaurant. Managed to accommodate me at short notice. The burger had great flavours. Friendly service and catered fully for gluten-free needs. Fully recommended if you're in York.

Excellence burger in a really nice athmosphere

Nice burgers, and really friendly staff. I had the pulled pork burger which was tasty. Great that they let you tailor your burger, I swapped out chips for salad. You can also upgrade your fries and add sides. A good choice of vegetarian options, and a nice selection of bottled beer.

Great little family run burger place. All the ingredients are really high quality and sourced locally. The staff are friendly and there are great gluten free options.

Fantastic restaurant. Four of us sat down and ordered burgers which were brought out quickly and were AMAZING, dare I say the best I’ve ever had, afterward we had the s’mores which was an awesome experience done very well and I’ve not seen something like that done anywhere else. The waitress was helpful and kind and the atmosphere was great. Attached is a picture of the Butch Cassidy with Pulled Pork Fries.

Wonderful, incredible, amazing… are 3 words I would never have thought I would use to describe a burger restaurant… However, this place has got me! The service, amazing and attentive The food, mouth-wateringly thought out with love and care, every ingredient has been carefully selected and it shows! The brioche buns were out of this world… I occasionally bake them and was jealous of the quality! The homemade tomato ketchup… BOTTLE IT PLEASE!!! Thanks, we WILL be back x

Really good burgers, went for the blue cheese doubled up, was excellent

A real American burger. Highly recommend if you want to know what a good burger is. There are good burgers that claim to be American all over England but this one is the closest I have found. I would expect this at a higher end restaurant in the states. Blue Jack and Billy the Kid met expirations. Coleslaw and ketchup we different but also excellent. Our server was very nice and attentive, and a joy to talk to. They don't include a tip on the bill so be sure you add one if you enjoy the meal.

First visit and we thought the burgers were excellent and extremely filling and will certainly be returning.

We visited Burgsy’s a few years ago when in York, and absolutely loved it, so on a return trip to York, we had to re visit. Lived up to the memory. Fantastic burgers - some of the best we’ve ever had. In particular having great vegetarian choice (the goats cheese with Mediterranean vegetables was amazing!). Great service, great food. Would highly recommend. A must if you’re in York!

Truly the best burger I have ever had! I was part of a group of 10 and we all felt very looked and accommodated for by Marta. We had 2 vegetarians in the group that also felt like they were given a good choice of food. We all received our food at the same time freshly cooked and the whole party found their food delicious. For dessert I would certainly recommend the s’mores as that was a fun experience to melt the marshmallows at your table. Burgsys will certainly become a go-to whenever any of us find ourselves back in York and would recommend to anyone!

The food here is incredible! I had the Billy the Kid burger with a side of pulled pork topped fries. Every element of the meal was superb and I'd go so far as to say it was the best burger I've ever had! Looking forward to going again soon 🤤

Okay I keep forgetting to give this amazing restaurant its due review, so here goes! (Years later I also still keep forgetting to take pictures when I eat here😂because I keep inhaling the food before I remember to take them!) Suffice it to say, it’s a regular on my restaurant rotation. Here is my official review: AMBIENCE: I love the new location, and as usual they’ve made a cozy corner into the perfect place for an elegant yet rustic atmosphere, complete with cowboy-in-the-desert mural, wooden tables, rustic decor and accessories. Love it. SERVICE: I’ve been served by different waitresses, and never had a complaint. All are welcoming, helpful, professional, and the food arrives hot and with a smile. QUALITY: As well as hot, the quality is obvious. The owners go out of their way to source their ingredients and almost 100% of it is prepared from scratch in-house. Burgers are thick and juicy, made with tasty beef, vegan options are also delicious if you’re not into meat that night. Fries (chips) are crisp and hot. You can’t get better than that unless you go home and your mom cooks you a homemade meal! The pork-pulled fries are amazing. Portion sizes are excellent and if you’re on a calorie double-up for the gym, simply go big with an extra patty and turn your fries into what I like to call “loaded fries”, with their delicious options. I’m salivating writing this and already planning my next visit.😆 GLUTEN FREE: I say gluten free, but you would never suspect unless you asked, because everything except the bread is made naturally gluten free by the chef in house. This is how food should be made at all restaurants. And unless you order cheese, I believe everything is also dairy free. CONCLUSION: I will keep coming back for more! And if they move locations, you can bet I’ll still come from the four corners of the Earth to patronize this establishment!

Lovely little place. The food was really good. The burger cooked just right, the bacon nice and crispy and the pulled pork really tasty. Definitely a place to come back.

Always wanted to come here, finally did and was not dissapointed. Could have easily devoured a second smoky beef burger and the cocktails where great too!

Just returned from our meal...we had blue jack burger and another burger (cant remember the name) they were both delicious...the waitress was 10 out of 10 , polite, smiling and made sure we wanted for nothing...will be going again on our next visit to york..

Delicious food, great service very cosy

We went to this unassuming little burger place on the corner of Walmgate following a recommendation and so glad we did! It's a fantastic little restaurant. Only a handful of tables it didn't feel quiet even with only 8-10 people in there. The service was unsurprisingly very good given how intimate the venue is, the food came quickly and really nicely presented. The burger was incredibly tasty and both the lumberjack and pulled pork fries were excellent additions. It wasn't the cheapest but it is certainly a different world to the fast food burgers and well worth the extra. Would definitely recommend and I intend to return.

What a restaurant! Came here because of the positive reviews on Google and it did not disappoint whatsoever! The home made ketchup is amazing too. Highly recommended when visiting York, just make sure you book a table beforehand as there are only about 20 seats inside.

Arrived in York looking for a burger dinner. Found Burgsy’s, hoped it lived up to the review and it definitely did!! Had the blue cheese burger with added mushrooms. Was AMAZING! Service was swift and great 😊. If we are back in York will definitely be back, if we cannot squeeze another visit in before we leave ❤️

Very small establishment, so 100% pre book your table. Perfect place if you require gluten free as 90% of the menu has a glutenfree option available (just mention to your server you need gluten free 😁 )

Visited here for a table of 2 on a Saturday night at 8pm. We booked online to ensure we got a table. It's fairy small inside so I'd recommend booking. We ordered the Nate Champion burger and Wild Wild Fest (mushroom, goats cheese and roasted veggies) burger with coleslaw to share as a side. All burgers come with fries and homemade tomato sauce which is delicious! The food arrived within about 15 mins and all was delicious. The waitress was very attentive too. Probably the best burgers I've had, and if we were in York longer, I'd go again!! Make sure you go here when you visit York 🤩.

The beef burgers are delicious, and the waitress was really friendly too. I will say, there were a lot of onions on both mine and my partners burgers, which is great if you love onions, but probably too much if you're not the biggest fan.

Visited Burgsy's again for a second time (they've moved since my last visit). Still great food and good service. Visited for the first time today (June 23)... Fantastic food, couldn't fault it one bit and will certainly be back. Recommend you book a table via their website.

Second time we have been and it's was a great as we remembered!! Amazing food and amazing staff 😁

We were struggling to get in anywhere, but managed to squeeze in to Burgsy by luck. Great tasting burgers… we both had the goat cheese one, and didn’t disappoint. Sides and salads were over priced and small. We expected a lot better salad for the price. We walked away happy, just a little bit hungry after burger chips and salad. But I am a big man. Fairly expensive but tasted good.

Tiny restaurant serving the most delicious burgers!! All four of us agreed the best burgers we’d eaten in years. All came with fries and homemade sauces. We had 2 beef and 2 different chicken ones, all amazing. Very attentive friendly staff.

One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. Perfect bun, nice thick crispy bacon and the fries were divine. Also, just the right amount. I left feeling satisfyingly full, but not in pain. My only qualm was that I’m not in York long enough to try more of the menu. Hopefully they’re there for a long time to come 10/10

Delicious food and massive portions!

Lovely food prepared and served by staff who have a good grasp on catering for gluten free. Refreshing to visit a restaurant where burger, fries, sauces are all safe for coeliacs. This restaurant is small but perfectly formed- all home made, locally sourced. Great for coeliacs and gluten free, allergies in general- everything on the menu is gluten free and the bun can be switched for a GF one. It can get busy quickly and only a few tables so worth booking if you intend to go there- definitely worth it.

The absolute finest of a burger. I tried the Nate Champion, and it was truly a champion indeed. The buns were great, the patty is juicy and tasty, and their homemade sauce was exceptional. The price was reasonable, given the experience that I had. A must try when in York!
