The food was very expensive given it was only average. Add to that the drinks were shockingly expensive. There are far better and more fairly priced options in Padstow - we won't be rushing back!

Overpriced burgers, cold food for me, what a shame. Sure there are better places to eat in Padstow. Must try harder or reduce prices to compete. Staff were lovely though and tried their best. Others in party had better experience than me food wise.

Very busy restaurant in the middle of padstow. I hadn’t looked at the reviews until after we had been. Food is ok - nothing special to rate about. However, the overall price was a little high to say that we had only starters and main courses. Not a place we would rush back to unfortunately.

I understand that the hospitality industry needs help but the way we were treated was horribleYes it's overpriced but it's half term in Padstow so you don't really have much choiceWe ordered 3 bacardi and cokes. We all asked for just a little coke. Just 3. Which came to almost £45! I was blown away. Upon complaining we were told that it's automatically 50ml. Which is scary considering a lot of people drive. We weren't given a drinks menu so couldn't check. Also £3.95 EACH for a dash of coke. Even though that's the same price for a whole glass.When I complained about this they said they had to open a new can for each dash. So we said we'd have the rest of the can then but we're told we couldn't.A horrible, horrible experience. My daughter had a pint of apple juice which was £9.90. It was the cheapest cartoned stuff you've ever seen.We all work hard for our money these days but I've never felt so sad and hurt to be ripped off like that. I was very unhappy about our dinner for 6 on Friday 29th October.I booked a table in advance for dinner for 6 people at 6pm on the above date.I wasn’t aware of the comment made to one of our group whilst I was at the ladies room that the restaurant were pushed for time!We ordered our food as quick as it was requested and when it came to dessert there was a wait for the menu then we were then told sorry the next table is due and we couldn’t have a dessert and had to leave we had only been an hour and a half , to think we were an early table and be treated in such a manner shocked me , especially as Im always so organised booking tables for everyone. It was the staffs fault for being so slack if time was limited! Also why book tables with such a short sitting time?Plus the food was nice but the prices were over inflated!Looking forward to hearing from you.Vicki Bentley

Food was good but not what you would expect for a £20 burger. I understand padstow is an expensive place to eat but if I’m paying that much, I expect outstanding food. Also children’s meal are £12.95 which for the portion size you get is crazy, then they charge £1.50 for extra parmesan! Staff were nice but had to ask to get cutlery to be able to eat our mains when they arrived!

The restaurant itself is very nice internally, although I had a view of the door which wasn’t so appealing. The staff were very nice. Sadly the food was disappointing. I’d expect a restaurant with the word burger in the title and in Padstow to serve excellent burgers but I found mine to be a little dry and not particularly tasty. The tomato relish tasted a little too much like tomato purée with a few bits added and spoiled the overall flavour. The chips were very salty and even my children didn’t finish them! The child’s meal was outrageously expensive for two chicken goujons - I had mistakenly thought the £12.95 price tag included the dessert and drink but alas it was just the main. I wouldn’t go back I’m afraid.

Eye watering (bordering on offensive) prices for acceptable/average food. I have no problem forking out the thick end of £20 for a burger and chips if it is the finest burger I have ever tasted. This however, was not. £13 for a pretty small portion of bought in deep fried squid is also ridiculous. Expect to pay upwards of £15 for a cocktail. Our bill for 2 starters and 3 mains was £147 with drinks. Ouch!The service was OK - one lad in particular was great, but his colleagues much less so. I get that the hospitality industry has had a tough time lately, but this approach of average food at exorbitant prices is not a long term solution if you want to keep your customers happy and returning.

This place, is incredible! My wife and I wanted to find somewhere cosy to have a late lunch in Padstow and came across this place as we walked past. We were not disappointed, the food here is off the scale good. the mac and cheese bites were perfectly complimented with a bacon mayo but the chicken wings are like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. The chicken falls off the bone, normally I’d go in hands first but didn’t need to as they were so tender. I don’t think I’ll order wings again unless it’s from this place. We had the BBQ “porkie” and the chicken burger “bird in a bun”. The burgers were excellent, flavours not too overpowering and the meat was so juicy. We loved this place so much we came back the next day. You need to try this place.

On a day trip to Padstow with no preconceived plan for where to eat we happened upon Burgers & Fish and were suitably tempted by the menu on display outside.This is key. The menu (with pricing) is displayed clearly outside the restaurant. So for all those put off by the ridiculous reviews on this site stating words to the effect of “delicious food but so expensive” it’s worth making the point that all these clowns had the opportunity to see the pricing before setting food in the restaurant, so to proceed to eat and then complain about the cost on a reviews site is pretty poor form.We were greeted immediately after entering the building and shown straight to a table. It was lunchtime and the restaurant was fairly quiet. Drinks order was taken swiftly, as was the food order and both the starter and main course arrived promptly.Service was very friendly and the chap who delivered our food to us was clearly very passionate about both the quality of the food they serve (and where it’s sourced) and what they’re trying to achieve at the restaurant.The salt & pepper squid starter was sublime. Good, meaty pieces of squid that was substantial but not in the least bit rubbery, finished in a delicious light batter.But the main course was the real showstopper - pan fried hake on a bed of black rice, cherry tomatoes and some other bits I forget the specifics of. Really flavoursome and balanced, and complemented superbly by the ‘posh fries’ (fries with truffle oil and shavings of two different types of parmesan cheese - shipped directly from Italy, we were told). It was unreal.My wife sidestepped the starter in favour of a main course and dessert. Her cheeseburger was, in her words, “meaty, flavoursome and utterly delicious.”After a little gap to let the mains go down, the meal was finished with a seriously substantial brownie sundae for her, and a quite magnificent affogato for me.Unfortunately, with us living the best part of five hours away, it will be some time before we return but when we next return to Padstow we’ll be making a bee-line for Burgers & Fish because it was truly excellent from start to finish.

Called in short notice as let down badly by Rick Stein’s St Petrocs. Couldn’t be more helpful and managed to fit us in. Food was great and staff and service friendly and professional.

Two members of the front of house team worked furiously but they were obviously understaffed. This meant people arriving had a short wait and once seated drinks were taking a time to arrive. The food was good and the staff welcoming.

The four of us dined at Burgers and Fish last night and had a superb meal. The restaurant had just the right atmosphere. It wasn’t overly busy, but had enough of a buzz to feel extremely comfortable. I opted for a burger given the name of the place and have to say that it was the best I’ve had for a considerable period of time. We were attended by Emily who took good care of us. The bill was more than acceptable and should we visit Padstow again, I’ll be sure to pay them a call.

We chose Burgers and Fish as the menu looked good. It was a little pricey but we were on holiday so thought we would treat ourselves. When we arrived our drinks order was taken and brought out quite quickly. Unfortunately things slowed down considerably after that. We only ordered mains and waited an hour and twenty minutes for our food. The rating would have been much lower but the staff dealt with it really well. After about 45 mins we asked about our food and the manager apologised and explained they had some problems in the kitchen. He gave us a free round of drinks and kept us informed. When the food finally came out he apologised again and gave us a discount on the food bill. The food itself was superb. Everyone really enjoyed it. I had the baked cod and couldn’t fault it. It’s just a shame there was such along wait or it would have been 5 stars.

Small upstairs restaurant in the centre of Padstow and served lovely food. Shared the calamari and prawn starters and had fish mains. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyable dinner.

Dinner for two. Seated immediately. Drinks arrived quickly. Excellent burgers, excellent chips and excellent dessert, which arrived quickly. Our waiter, Hugh, was great. It’s so nice to get the whole package - doesn’t happen that often, but it did here! Thank you.

We visited for dinner during our holiday, and ended up being seriously underwhelmed and out of pocket. Prices are extortionate for some very, very average food and drink. I paid £13 for a ‘pink g&t cocktail’ which was essentially a normal g&t with some chunks of strawberry in it. My partner ordered a chicken burger which was both greasy and dry - he said he felt as though he had paid £19 for a McChicken sandwich from McDonald’s! The food looks absolutely nothing like the professional photos they use to advertise. The service was also average - friendly people, but not particularly attentive and there was a big wait for food even though it wasn’t that busy. They charge the same prices (if not more) as Paul Ainsworths’ Caffe Rojano down the road where the food is exquisite and you’re treated like royalty. Avoid and save your money!

Service was slow and not particularly attentive, burger was fine, but that’s all, nothing special. Prices for the food, normal for what seems to be the current Padstow levels. Drinks menu, totally extortionate. If I’m paying these prices, I expect it to be exceptional, it was not…

Firstly I'd like to thank the staff, there was a young woman waiting on the tables and a lovely woman at the bar also helping with service, I believe one was called Danielle.We turned up with our little boy who was a bit grumpy, the one lady brought some cooled cucumber sticks over which helped him calm down and sit in his chair, we didn't even request anything!The service continued to be great throughout our meal and the food was also very good with our little one enjoying his food very much and the attention he was getting.Would highly recommend to anyone but especially families in an otherwise chaotic part of the world.

Had great lunchtime meal for myself, my wife and two old friends. Swift service, food prepared as requested, plentiful amounts, well cooked. Very enjoyable visit.

We visited here on a family holiday, to be honest, we only booked this due to struggling to find anywhere in Padstow that had availability! We were relieved when this place said they could squeeze us in for an evening meal. When we arrived, we were barely greeted, merely ushered to the nearest clear table. My partner ordered a beer and Diet Coke, I ordered a gin and tonic (£10 for a single!) and my daughter had an orange juice (£3.95) for a child’s juice. The waiter forgot the coke and as no one came to check on us prior to food arriving it was some time until we managed to find someone to request the coke be brought to the table. To start, I ordered the hummus with pitta and my partner ordered the Vietnamese chicken wings. I can honestly say I was astounded when my started arrived, there was barely a quarter of a small Pitta on my plate, uncooked! For a cost of £8.95 I couldn’t believe the bare cheek of them to serve up such a measly meal so unapologetically arrogantly! For main, we ordered a chicken burger, the big breakfast burger and a child’s burger. My eight year old commented hers tasted like McDonalds! Both adult burgers were mediocre to say the least, not much taste and very flimsy, for £18 each I honestly thought Ant and Dec were hiding in the kitchen about to come out and tell us we had been set up on Saturday Night takeaway! However, when the receipt arrived, I realised we had not been set up and we ended up paying £110 for a meal we could have had at McDonalds!I’m more than happy to pay more for quality, but, this place seems to run more off of the famous friends it showcases to have visited the restaurant, rather than concentrating on the quality of the food and service it provides! Don’t waste your money, there are so many wonderful hidden gems in the small villages around Padstow that are way more deserving of your hard earned money.

Food O K, limited menu but very overpriced for what it was. £20 for a burger main and £14 for a starter is unwarranted for what you got. Unfortunately the service was very poor and certainly didn’t justify the prices. Limited toilet facilities also disappointing. I don’t mind paying for quality but felt totally ripped off

Nice food but very expensive for burger and chips.. almost £20, very over priced, drinks were also very expensive. Food took longer than expected to be brought out considering there were only about 4 other tables dining. We were sat right next to a family of 6 when there was plenty of other tables available. We felt like we were having our dinner with them we were that close and not very Covid safe with social distancing. When looking around, the table booth chairs were all ripped and looked a mess. Probably wouldn’t return here however I did enjoy my chicken burger but my partners burger was dripping with grease!

Visited this week and have to say I was so disappointed. The food was nice, and the staff were very nice however service was extremely slow, and the food was absolutely not worth the extortionate amount they charge you. Nice burgers but definitely not worthy of a £20 price tag. We went in the early evening and had to wait around 45 minutes for each course to be brought out to us…even though there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant and all were already eating when we arrived. Posters up all over the restaurant reminding customers of how important it was to stay Covid safe understandably, however when using the toilets they had completely run out of soap meaning any ladies using the toilets couldn’t wash their hands properly which seems ridiculous given everything going on at the moment. Would definitely not rush back.

Found this lovely restaurant whilst in Cornwall recently. Great food, fantastic service. Shame we were only on holiday, would be back there more often if we lived there. Can’t recommend enough. This place was open where most places were closing for the afternoon and we just wanted a late lunch. Some of the best seafood we had whilst on our visit

Good quality tasty food abs service in a great surrounding. Price was expensive for what you got but it’s at the heart of the town.

We’ve been here a few times already this year. What brings us back here is tasty food combinations, friendly staff and cosy surroundings.Mussels with cider sauce is to die for.... mac & cheese bites and salt - pepper squid were superb too.And for dessert we shared Burnt cheesecake served with local strawberries(I would recommend to add a scoop of clotted cream, that’s what we did).Coming back soon.

This place is never disappointing. Definitely a fantastic restaurant to spend your time with friends and family. The staff is very relaxed, helpful and knowledgeable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very warm and welcoming.It became our favorite place to eat in Padstow.Had some nice cocktails, Aperol Spritz is a must. Food great as always. Flavors beautifully balanced. This time Monkfish was of the menu, but Octopus with silky mash and Romesco sauce always a winner.Thumbs up from our family. We'll be back soon.

8.95 for a bacardi and a extra 4 pound for a shot of lemonade, half of larger 6.80 .I. sorry but you are mugging people off .lovely place , staff very good , food was nothing special but ok , just ruined the whole experience knowing your being ripped off .

This is as it says a burger and fish bar very basic food nothing fancy at all. Although the food is good it is certainly not worth the money, fish and chips came with fries for £20 I expected proper chips cooked fresh, children’s meal £12.95 for just a main meal 2 small scoops of ice cream £6.80 and then they had the audacity to charge £1 for a bit of sauce. We are local people and like to support our local businesses but unfortunately I will not be dining at the burger and fish in Padstow ever again.. The title sums it up, very expensive for incredibly mediocre food. Uses local ingredients which is nice but not worth the price tag at all. Dont waste your money here.

Very shocking pricing! The sort that you would expect from a Michelin star restaurant £29.95 for cod! £6.50 for a pint of cider! £3.95 for a small glass of Coca Cola! Now I know that businesses in the south west have to make their money in the peak season but this pricing really does not justify the quality of food or service we received unfortunately. However the food and service was good but not outstanding which you would expect with this price calibre.

Very nice interiors and good food and service but just too expensive. In my opinion just not good value for money which is a shame because if prices were just moderated would be up there as one of the best restaurants in Padstow. Shame

The food was lovely and the service was faultless. The staff were attentive and genuine. Some people mention that they feel it is over priced, I would disagree , the food was fantastic and so was the service. The prices are advertised so people claiming it was expensive know what they are booking before they arrived so have the choice to pick a cheaper option.

Went last night for a meal, average burger was around £20 and for that price you expect it to be the best burger ever but it was below average at best, my wife ordered a vodka and coke and restaurant prices you expect a bit more than the average pub but when the bill came I almost died £9.95 just for the vodka (which was Smirnoff not an expensive brand) and over £3.95 for the coke. I’m not been funny I’ve traveled to some of the worlds most expensive cities and never paid that much for a drink. How can they justify charging that much for such a rubbish burger and drinks. Will be spreading the word to AVOID at all cost.

So an intimate venue with pictures of Gordon Ramsey and Jack Whitehall as customers you know you’re in for treat in this initiate venue. Even so, hands down the best burgers we’ve ever had, no hyperbole. Also all of the staff were very attentive and Hugh who spent the most time helping us, was excellent - good descriptions, chat, and service. Best meal we’ve had in Padstow and we’ve tried a few of the well regarded places. Recommend.

Visited in August. Atmosphere was great, food was ok but shocked at the price of the final bill in comparison to the quality of the food. A burger cost the best part of £20 which is completely disproportionate compared to other restaurants in the area. A simple chicken wing starter cost £13, a third higher than all other restaurants visited on our trip and completely ridiculous considering what it is. We are very supportive of the hospitality industry considering everything that has happened but at these prices it is hard not to assume that this is a business profiteering from the influx of tourists in Cornwall this summer.

Nice place with a quite a simple menu with not many options. Couldn’t really fault the burgers, well cooked but the meat was nothing special, the fries were fantastic. The veggie halloumi salad was great and the service was excellent. Constructive criticism would be the pricing… the adult burgers just come with fries and start at £16 and the kids menu was ridiculous, a main kids meal was £13, and a glass of orange juice was £5 and clearly from concentrate. A gin and tonic will set you back £13 and you can expect to be charged £1.50 for mayonnaise…..This could just be a post Covid thing though as got the sense a lot of the restaurants in the area could effectively name their price and were trying to make up losses from the lockdowns.

Wonderful atmosphere, decor and location. Staff work hard. The welcome could be better, it’s never nice to be told to acknowledge you only have 2 hours to enjoy dinner, (it was made clear in the online booking already). Whilst I can’t complain about the quality of the food, apart from the dreadful cheesecake, I feel that the price is wholly inflated for what you’re actually getting. I don’t want to consider that it might be a result of exploiting the current situation this year - demand out weighing supply, £12.50 for a child’s burger & chips meal, in my opinion is massively overpriced. B&F should consider being more competitive in price to like for like restaurants in the surrounding area, many of which we have visited this summer. Caution advised prior to booking, the food is undoubtedly very good but not deserving of the cost.

Thoroughly disappointed in the last visit we made to this restaurant. I really loved this restaurant but not anymore..Alcoholic and soft drinks served in warm glasses.Told couldn’t have fresh lime in our vodka lime and sodas (even though fresh lime was used to garnish our starters).Heavy duty soft drink glasses used for alcoholic drinks – at a pricey £13.00 for a single vodka lime and soda (with no fresh lime) – total lack of presentationAdvertised menu outside the restaurant doesn’t represent what is available - 2 main courses have been stopped- only told this at point of ordering by Waiter. (BBQ monk fish tail and Crab roll).Raised this disappointment to the Manager who initially offered a bottle of wine- house / nibbles for our next visit -however at point of the Manager raising this to the owner the fed back was to say the misleading menu is going to still be advertised – the menu is only a sample – both the Manager and Waiter didn’t know this, otherwise why wasn’t this explained at point of orderingIf it is a sample menu then why it is just a case of options being stopped and nothing exciting added in their places – advertising boards would change on regular basis and Waiters would walk you through the amendments on arrival which would add to a positive exiting experience - What an absolute shame the owner is not focused on customer experience. Unfortunately, won’t be returning.

We have eaten here many times before on our frequent trips to Padstow and this used to be a firm family favourite until this visit. The food wasn’t as good as previously, but was okay. What wasn’t okay was the extortionate prices being charged suddenly. The price of everything had gone up considerably, with a chicken burger now nearly £20 and the rest are also very overpriced. What topped it off though was when we saw the bill to find a gin and tonic was £14.50! We don’t even pay that at in London. I was glad none of us wanted mayonnaise at £1.50 extra for sauces per person- including mayonnaise that usually comes for free anywhere else. We had two main courses, chips and 4 drinks which came to over £110. For a burger restaurant that is far too much and I was glad we didn’t have the kids with us too as it would have cost us over £200. It was a family favourite but sadly is off the list of places for us until they sort out their pricing.

The service was really good but the food is seriously over priced. £12.95 for 1 child’s burger is a lot.There was another £7 for a kids desert too Then we paid £4.95 for a carton apple juice. AdultBurgers had a smaller portion of fries than the children. They were nice but when paying nearly £20 (incl an extra £2 for bacon) if expect tastier and cooked to choice. What annoyed me more than anything was paying £1.50 for a portion of mayonnaise that I only used a teaspoon of. Even if it was home made I would not expect to pay extra. The wine was extortionate at nearly £10 for a 175ml glass so I avoided that. We’ve just eaten at St Petroc’s Bistro and the food quality was exceptional and was actually cheaper than B&F! Kids meals (including a steak) were £9.95 for 3 courses and the apple juice was £3.50! Service a fabulous too. We won’t be back at B&F. Way too expensive for what it is.

I can’t believe Iam reading the reviews for the same restaurant where we have been every time we go to Cornwall and it’s proved faultless.In fact this time our table wasn’t ready so the manager gave us drinks & nibbles on the house whilst waiting at the bar!Yes it’s not the cheapest but if you’re looking for a regular burger for kids then go to Burger King.Food is outstanding and cooked to perfection. I wouldn’t go there with young children as it’s not that type of restaurant. One of the best in Padstow! Staff all very professional & friendly!

We appreciate that times are very difficult in the catering business and that Padstow is busier than ever. We had a booking for 6 people including a 6 and 7 year old at 8.30pm (we couldn’t get anything earlier) and our first course which involved 2 VERY simple sharing Deli Boards arrived at 10pm. When we asked for extra bread as it came with only 2 slices we were charged extra £3.95 notwithstanding the fact it had taken 1hr30 mins to arrive!! The children were quite literally starving and hoovered them up! Our main course arrived at 10.30pm and when we were asked whether we wanted any condiments we duly requested mayonnaise to go with the burgers and chips. Three little pots arrived with a portion for one person. We had the Korean Drean £17.90 x3; One bird in a Bun £18.95; 1x mussels £18.95 and 1x kids fish &chips £12.95. Eating in a restaurant imagine our total surprise that they CHARGED £1.50 for each POT of the MAYONNAISE!!! I expect to be charged in a local takeaway but not whilst dining in a restaurant. This has never ever happened anywhere I have dined before and we were never even advised!!Our entire bill with drinks etc came to £240 I am simply appalled- the slow service I can forgive - however being charged extra for the bread after 90 minutes for the starter to arrive and then £4.50 for 3 portions of Mayonnaise is just unacceptable in a restaurant. I wonder if they charged all their ‘famous’ customers for theses????

Enjoyed our time here, it’s a nice ambiance and a good environment. My veggie burger was really good, lovely smoky sauce, as were the kids burgers and my wife’s classic burger, all polished off. The price of the drinks is an issue though. £5 for an apple juice and £4 for a Diet Coke is a personal record on both, even compared to London prices, outrageous actually! So that’s £18 for 4 non alcoholic drinks (which, by comparison, cost £13 in Rick Stein’s the night before, so 1/3 cheaper!)Then i got the bill and £1 was added for chocolate sauce to my son’s ice cream, which having read the other reviews (charging for mayonnaise!) now makes sense. Waitress claimed the menu was out of date? To be fair she took it off, but I do wonder how many people would have been too embarrassed to ask? So if you go with kids, beware the kids burgers are £12 and the desserts £7 and the drinks £5. All good quality and size, but certainly if you have a lot of kids this will add up vs what you normally expect!So we left feeling like we’d had a really nice meal, but tinged by a feeling that we’d had every penny squeezed out of us too.

I will start with a positive….. the king prawn starter was enough for two, tasted great, served hot and priced fairly.Now for the whole dinning experience.From arrival to receiving our main course it was 1 and 1/2hrs, we needed to ask when our expected food ETA would be….There 5 mins or less reply was actually 25 mins…. is this Cornish time! The cost of non alcohol beer was exorbitant at £6.30 per half and disappointingly only one option available. Service wise our (chap) waiter was polite and friendly however the young lady was either new to hospitality or just back from the Olympics having won gold in discus throwing…. who knew plates could survive such impact. The cost for two adults for a shared starter (the only positive) two burgers, four non alcoholic drinks and tap water was just shy of £90 so no this wasn’t value for money or a particularly enjoyable experience. We tried it and have learnt not to try it again.

The food was average but the prices were very high! We paid almost £20 for a veggie bean burger with a slice of cheese. They also charged £1.50 for condiments and only gave you a tiny pot. There aren’t that many places to eat in padstow so we only ate here as it was the only place we could get a booking. For what it was, the food was very expensive.

Reading some of the reviews I guess we must have just got lucky but we had an all round excellent experience at the restaurant at the weekend. Having struggled to find anywhere with availability on the day we stumbled across this place by chance and I admit I was hesitant because the name suggested something you find on a motorway services.However the food turned out to be excellent all round (particularly the mussels) and we have since visited a couple of the celebrity chef big hitter restaurants in the area which I have found generally grossly overpriced for far less quality and taste than this place.Would definitely go back.

I am happy to pay for good quality food but this meal was so average. I like a good burger but this was such a disappointment. Had better in a basic pub. How they can charge £18 is unbelievable. £12 for a glass of wine! I live in London so am used to high prices but this place is another level. Kids menu overpriced too. Been coming to padstow for years. Do yourself a favour and book into Rojano. Dont be tempted, you’ll be disappointed.

I don't often have a burger but this was delicious. My Veggie wife had the halloumi burgers which she also loved. Lovely local beer and mocktails, and a choccy icecream pud to die for. Lovely waitress who looked after us and advised us on local tips. Couldn't fault it.

Our family party of 6 had a delicious, if overpriced, meal and the service was very good up until the point where we had just paid (a lot of money!) and my adult niece and partner went to use the toilets. The manager, in front of new customers just arriving, accused them to be punters coming off the street just to take advantage of the toilet facilities! Her manner and tone were harsh and disparaging. When my niece explained that they had been there eating for over an hour and a half ( and should have reminded her that we had just spent over £220!!) the manager turned her back on them without an apology, an explanation of her mistake or anything! She should have been falling over herself at that point, in my book!We were so disgusted by her rude attitude and lack of apology that we went back into the restaurant to complain, once my niece had told us what had happened. At that point only, did the manager explain that so many people come in to just use the loo. She did agree that she was in the wrong but it was too little too late! She should have been chasing us to apologise! If you are going to deal with the problem, at least get your facts right! What a way to treat paying customers! Disgraceful! We will not be going back.

The food was nice but very over priced. We waited a long time for our food but then felt very rushed out when they wanted their table back. Although very friendly staff, the service was very slow and not very attentive. We left feeling disappointed.

Really let down by this place. It’s sold as a gastro Bistro type dining and it’s anything but. Food is bang average leaning towards poor the side of things. Ingredients are not quality, tastes are poor and for the level of food the prices are an absolute joke. The deli board is Aldi packet meat. £14.50 for a single JD and coke? £2.00 for Mayo and £24.00 for poor quality muscles that taste of nothing. This restaurant really needs to improve.

Worst restaurant experience of my life. Waited over an hour and half for food without any communication from staff. Never felt as uncomfortable in a place as i have there. Completely over priced. Meal left untouched and no comment from any staff members asking if everything was ok.

I am easily pleased when it comes to food, and I have NEVER written a bad review in my life, but after my experience at B&F I feel compelled to...Waited what felt an age every step of the way, for our order to be taken, for drinks to arrive, for food to arrive, for the bill...For the price I was expecting quality food but it was so mediocre, honestly worse than weatherspoonsThe waiter seemed nice but service was awful. Our mains arrived an hour and a half after we had, and the whole time I had an empty glass sitting on my table - I was not asked for another.We left a plate full of food as we were past the point of hungry and this was not queried. At no point during the evenjng were we asked how our food was - this is absolutely basic and, for once, would have been necessary. I genuinely do not understand what the inflated prices are for. Service was poor, food was poor, even the same songs started playing... everything about the place was just terrible. Absolutely awful.

Mixed feelings about burgers and fish. Booked online a few weeks before for a dinner with my family and my dog, on the website it says to specify that you have a dog as they are dog friendly but have limited space so I did specify. We arrive and the first thing said to us by a member of staff was 'dogs aren't allowed here'. No hello, sorry, or apology, of course we had booked and said that and that we specified. The member of staff got into an ordeal saying they had called to let me know my dog wasn't allowed but my phone didn't have voicemail set up. they could have emailed me or called again. I do in fact have my voicemail set up. She then proceeded to say that she doesnt want to argue when she has caused this argument between us and nearly ruined our meal out.Luckily she allowed us in, we ordered and the food was lovely. Our waiter was lovely to us and accomodating but this member of staff was particularly rude to us. We wouldn't come here again due to this experience. do not take your dogs.

The food here was unremarkable, there was hardly anything wrong with it, albeit the cold meat platter starter was a bit of an embarrassment and the focaccia bread served with it, was actually just sliced bread…We avoided fish because the prices were twice that of other restaurants in and around Padstow, eg Cornish Arms - how can they justify almost £30 for a piece of hake?However the burgers were pleasant enough but the bill was a shocker when we thought about what we had actually had - nearly £50 a head excluding drinks for a cold meat starter, burger and sides, £3 of the bill was for an extra slice of the aforementioned sliced bread with the starter and another £3 for 2 tiny pots of jar mayonnaise to go with the burgers!Definitely profiteering in Padstow bubble pricing but without the quality of the better know Padstow chefs and restaurants

Awful,slow service, poor food.We were reminded twice that our table needed to be returned to them after 1hr 45mins. The service was sooo slow that our bread arrived after 30mins, then empty plates stayed on the table for another 20mins, mains arrived 15mins before they wanted our table back. There was no option of dessert, £12 for children’s chix goujons (that were nothing special) £30 for an average fish dish. The bill was astronomical! £160 for 3 mains, a child’s meal and bread.Stay away!

Over 2 hours waiting with 2 young children for cold meats as a starter and 4 unremarkable burgers for main - and it wasn’t even busy. I asked for mayonnaise to go with my dinner and was shocked to get the bill and find an itemised charge of £1.50 for less than a tablespoon of mayonnaise. When I challenged it, their defence was that it was the owners decision and they refused to take it off the bill - Apparently is was on the menu I’d looked at 2 hours earlier…definitely one to avoid

Really slow service, expected better really.Food was ok , but expensive for what it is. We had chicken wings to start, 4 chicken wings for over £12 is a bit OTT.. deli sharing board was a plate of supermarket deli meats and two slices of bread, presentation was non existent.We waited a long time for 5 burgers and chips and at £16-18 each we again felt this was overpriced.Al in all we wouldn’t return, £171 for 3 starters, 5 mains and a drink each was not worth the money.

This is a high quality restaurant in Padstow so prices are on the high side (£36 for grilled octopus) although burger for £17 is only a few pound more than in most pubs in the area. That said the food was excellent (particularly grilled octopus) and therefore worth the price and the light and airy interior was a sanctum from the crowded Padstow.

Had a really lovely meal at this restaurant. Brilliant burgers! A bit pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. I feel a bit embarrassed for complaining about the delay we had waiting for our order to arrive. Obviously this was down to Covid. They were trying their best with staff shortages. I hope they read this and accept my apologies. If we could book another meal we would, but sadly the whole of Padstow is fully booked for weeks ahead!

We visited with my family and the food was poor but charged at very high prices for the food on offer. Had a sharing platter with supermarket style salami and two slices of bread not the focaccia advertised and asked for a couple more slices and got charged an extra £3 no olives or cheese either. Had a chicken burger which was rock hard and £100 for 2 adults and 2 young children.

Pleasant restaurant heard nice things about it. Service was a little slow, however the staff were lovely and we weren’t in a rush so not bothered. I had the Bird in a Bun which I didn’t like, nothing wrong with it, just wasn’t for me. I gawped at paying £14 for a starter, I mean they were lovely but not enough for that price. Lunch cost us £100, that’s 2 starters, 2 burgers, a kids meal and 2 drinks, that’s the only reason I gave 3 stars.

From start to finish it was a great experience at Burgers & Fish. Welcoming , helpful and knowledgeable staff.Good wine selection, reasonably priced. We picked a few starters to share Vietnamese chicken wings, full of flavour and Mac bites, delicious.Overall great experience, we’ll back soon.Definitely recommend!

The food was OK. But in its entirety it was SO overpriced. We’ve been in Padstow for over a week and eaten at all it’s best restaurants but this is the first time I’ve felt ripped off. Cocktails cost more than at the seafood restaurant (stein’s) and if they’d been amazing that would have been ok. But they were just ok and served with the starter? A creamy cocktail with salt and pepper squid (and that fish starter was £14 - £14!!! - more than the Mariners on Rock) made it just wrong. A glass of red - a very average Malbec - was £13 a small glass. White choice by the glass was poor. My husband’s burger was good. I had the chicken burger but opted for it naked and without fries which meant it was served with a ‘lovely salad’ at an extra almost £3. And for almost £22 I got a piece of breadcrumbed and Parmesaned chicken on a bed of leaves with nothing else but a few red onions. The waitress was lovely and you can’t take away from that but the owner is hanging on the coat tails of the amazing restaurants in this village and it’s area.It’s fully booked. We had to eat at 6 so he’s getting away with it now but I strongly suggest he re-adjusts his prices or he’ll eventually get found out. I don’t like doing this but come on?

Great experience as always. Food, ambiance and service was superb! Started with Mac and cheese bites (wow!) and some butterflied prawns with chimichurri sauce. We were recommended a local wine from Knightor winery, delicious choice xxKorean burger with Kimchi, flavour explosion and my partner had a bowl of Cornish mussels with cider sauce. And we had a Burnt artisan cheesecake to share with strawberries and I to add some clotted cream.Wonderful staff and cosy location.

Food was very tasty but very overpriced. Especially the alcohol, £12.95 for a small cheap glass of wine! More expensive then London prices!!

We visit Padstow a lot, family & friends have holiday homes there, and we’d never heard of this place. We thought we’d give it a try, but never again. We left it for our last night as we were unsure, so glad we did, because we had food poisoning for 24hours after. We had to stay another night as we weren’t fit to move, or drive. I’ve never in my life left a bad review - but we were so poorly, spent a lot of money with them, left a rather big tip… yet they treated us pretty bad. The food is very overpriced. We later learnt the prawns come in frozen.. would of thought everything would be fresh considering the location (and price)And, for an expensive restaurant, you’d expect first class customer service. But the email I received was very defensive and signed off by ‘the management team’ no name given!! They were slow to get back to me. They left it for the restaurant staff to call me. She offered a voucher because I said we wouldn’t come again, but the ‘management team’ clearly didn’t approve it and nor did they respond to my last email. Lovely!!!

We booked this restaurant to meet with friends who were also on holiday. We had a two year old, six year old and eight year old with the party. Upon arrival the service was great and we were showed to the table. The first disappointment was that there were no mussels. Given that this is a seafood restaurant and this was only 6:45pm, it was a huge letdown.The service was so slow and it took about one hour from first arriving to receive the starters.The starters were lovely however.My husband ordered the crab roll , he was not impressed with what arrived for the price paid.The chicken burger was nice, nothing special for the money.We had to ask for the children’s desserts as the service was just so slow and they were starting to get restless. The final insult was when the bill arrived. It is way overpriced for the poor service received and it’s not as if the food was anything special.Would not recommend!

Burgers were incredible and had that perfect BBQ taste. The restaurant itself was very nice, staff were friendly and provided a nice escape from busy Padstow.If you go, except that it will be quite expensive but not a complaint as we knew what to expect.

We are regular visitors to Padstow and have been working our way around the restaurants. Last night we had a booking and burgers and fish for a part of 6 (4 adults a teenager and a child) and we were really disappointed. The menu was expensive but we expect that in Padstow but what we didn’t expect was a kids bowl of plain pasta with butter on and a sprinkle of parmesan to coat £12 and take an hour and a half to get to the table, as you can imagine we had a very restless 8 year old. We ordered starters and mains and there was no offer to bring the child’s meal with the starters and there was a wait of over an hour between starter and main. The food was nice even if a little over priced. While we appreciate that the industry is stretched at the moment, a little communication about wait times wouldn’t have gone a miss.

First impressions were good but service was slow. We were seated at the table in front of the bar and it took a while for anyone to approach with menus. The drinks are very expensive and there is no larger on draft. The burgers were average I’d go as far as to say 5 Guys are better. No one asked if everything was fine with our meal and no replacement drinks were offered. Service was super slow even through the restaurant wasn’t that busy. Really disappointed for the price we paid and the service we received.

We visited very early evening, the chap serving us wasn’t very friendly and seemed to be in a rush all the time. Burgers were good, but drinks & starters were pretty expensive. A bottle of beer was £6.80 and wasn’t even a pint. Even kids juice was expensive. We’ve visited a few times before and enjoyed it, but it seemed like prices have been raised to recoup Covid lost revenue. We’ll hopefully be back again, but will check menu prices first.

Hospitality has had such a hard time BUT our experience here was poor. I think they can operate a deep fat fryer, so my kids had burgers and chips which they said were good. I had the vegetarian main which was yoghurt slopped on a plate with a mound of bulgar wheat on top and some super greasy halloumi on top. It wasn’t very nice. There was no cod at 6.45pm, and no alternative catch of the day. Also, the restaurant had no air con and must have been close to 30 degrees. It was unbearable, and all the staff and customers were sweating profusely. It was pretty grim and everything just felt a bit grubby and sticky. The heat I think definitely affected the staff mood, one of the waitresses looked like she might erupt with rage at any minute. Not cheap. Had to leave as soon as I could. Unlikely to return.

Honestly the best burger I ever had, very good options and great service. Good value for money, would be great for a variety of meals

Very expensive, I’ve had cheaper meals in the savoy in London. Firstly the restaurant had dirty tables, the air conditioning wasn’t working - the restaurant should have a duty to let you know. It was so hot up stairs, extremely uncomfortable. You have to give them a deposit to hold the table, which is fair but at least be fair back to the customer and let them know the air conditioning isn’t working. Twice the wrong wine came out, in a glass rather than a bottle. Tables were very slowly cleaned, restaurant was pretty empty we shouldn’t have to sit next to dirty tables. Food ok - but for the price honestly give it a miss.

We had dinner at burger and fish on Monday 19th JulyAnd to say that we were thoroughly disappointed with various aspects of our dining experience would be an understatement.After being shown to our table and once that we had ordered drinks the intensity of the heat really hit us. No air conditioning working and the restaurant was unbearably hot (hotter than outside).Fellow diners were sweating and fanning themselves with menus. We would have liked to have been told before being seated that the air con was not working so that we could have made an informed decision about whether to eat here.We went on to order anyway, no crab roll at 6.45pm, apparently it was sold out!!Food arrived for the most part was just Ok - service was seriously lacking, to the point where we had to keep getting staff attention for more drinks, desserts menu etcIn the end after ordering the dessert menu and our table still not being cleaned from our main course for over 15mins we decided to give up on dessert and paid up and left. Other diners were also complaining with one table citing that they had been seated for over 20 mins before even being offered drinks!Overall a very shocking a poor eating excuse. Pretty average food for just over £80 is not acceptable. Staff didn’t seem overly bothered about service or customers experience. What a shame as we booked weeks ahead as this was a special occasion for us.

*plays nocturne no2 in E flat* The first bite of this succulent chicken burger, was one to remembers. As it swirls in and around my mouth, astonished to my belief the best, yes best burger in the region. Moving on to the chips, the crisp, stupendously seasoned chips, added to the pleasure that existed. Will be coming back for more.

Shame, didn't meet our expectations, tasty food but pricey drinks, wouldn't mind but the service was below average. Temperature was around 28 with no air con (not working) no offer of any water, £4.50 for a bottle so very uncomfortable to say the least! Not failure for money, wouldn't recommend or return....shame

Our first inside meal for months and the food didn’t disappoint. Burgers are amazing and chips just perfect. The coleslaw was a large portion and well worth the money. I could have sat drinking the wonderful Malbec all night being served by the friendly and attentive staff. Thanks for giving us a wonderful night.

To be honest, I was expecting more. The food was ok, didn’t quite live up to what we were hoping for, it was average. The service really let it down. No one checked in on us to see if everything is ok neither did they come back to the table to see if we wanted any further drinks despite our glasses being empty before our mains had even come out.

It’s not. It’s another Padstow restaurant surviving on the reputation of Padstow rather than itself. The burger and battered fish were mediocre at best. £6.50 for a Padstow lager. £1.50 for small dish of mayonnaise, £4.00 for a glass of coke !! Unbelievable ! Service was unfriendly by a bored gentleman. Perhaps they know tourists won’t come back. Would I eat there again? No, it’s just not worth the ridiculous price of £16.85 for an average burger or £19.95 for fish and chips.

Just a very average experience for a high-end price. When we arrived the front of house simply said “have you booked?” No welcome etc. We had booked and they said they would be with us in a minute The drinks were very pricey, £6 minimum for a beer/cider and £10 for a medium glass of wine or over £30 for a bottleFor starters we ordered the Deli board which was a selection of meats with focaccia for £13. It arrived with nothing else other than meat on a plate, normally when we have ordered something like this it comes with salad or something else but it was just meat and 2 slices of focaccia. We asked for some extra focaccia as the 2 slices is not enough at all and were charged an extra £3 for an extra slice of focaccia!We both had burgers for main which were average but not worth the £17 price tag. Nobody came throughout the meal to check if everything was okay - if they did I probably would have mentioned that I couldn’t see any cheese in the cheeseburger. Wouldn’t return and disappointed to have paid that much considering the other meals we have had for the same price.

Very nice, great starters very tasty and good quality, although you don’t get much. The burgers were nice, very tasty but I think maybe the chips made it a 4 not a 5, they weren’t very nice.The service was great, lovely man (long hair) great with the kids, super friendly and welcoming. I have seen people moaning about price but Padstow isn’t cheap and the food is quality

We enjoyed our meal here very much. Amazing crispy squid, delicious crab rolls, the best mussels ever. For us, the seafood was excellent and much better than the burger. Service was also perfect.

We'd booked a few weeks ahead, knowing this was not a cheap place to eat and hoping for the premium experience that the prices (£16.85 for a cheeseburger) would suggest.Our evening didn't start well... It was a chilly and windy night and we were seated at the table next to the door,, so it was draughty and cold. at our table. I asked to be moved, but there was not another table available, I understand the need for ventilation these Covid times, but I had to keep my fleece on throughout our visit.Then came drinks.... There's no drinks menu on their web site and I now know why - there's no beer under £6. I ordered what seemed to be a local IPA for £6. It turned out to not even be a pint. Maybe 330ml. Maybe I'd been so shocked by the price that I didn't notice the volume. For her £6, my wife at least got a pint (or 500ml) of cider.We ordered lamb ragu and 'one bird in a bun'. Food came quite quickly. My ragu was correct but, just as i started it, my wife realised she's been served a cheeseburger. As we told the server abut this, the people on the next table worked our that we'd been served their order. The cheeseburger was removed, and my wife was offered olives while the correct order was prepared. She doesn't like olives, so was offered Mac & Cheese bites instead which she accepted.Meanwhile, I thought my ragu was quite good, but a little sweet and might be improved with some pepper. The pepper pot on the table was empty, so I asked a passing server for a replacement but continued to eat.I had finished my ragu for some time before the 'bird in a bun' arrived. The Mac & Cheese bites arrived sometime after that. The pepper never arrived.As our payment was processed by a more experienced staff member, I expressed my disappointment at the service we'd received. We were told that it was our server's second night, but mostly got excuses e.g "your chicken was only five minutes after the ragu" (it was much longer than that) and "we gave you the Mac & Cheese bites". In the end, the cost of the 'bird in a bun' was credited which, frankly, was the least I expected.It's hard to find places to eat in Padstow, but I suggest you avoid Burger & Fish. I'm pleased to report that the close-by Pucellis is a massive contrast - it's warm, bustling, the food is good and the staff are efficient and charming.

We had a table booked but due to a member of our party having food poisoning We were unable to attend. I called burgers and fish giving them more than 12 hrs notice cancelling the table so that that they could re sell it which i have no doubt that they did. We were not a no show !! I accepted that we would loose a deposit for the table but £50 for two of us really burgers and fish that is day light robbery. We might not have spent that much in there !!!! Giving the notice we gave to cancel the table I just feel this us poor service and it added to our already ruined holiday.

My partner and I visited for the first time as we’d heard great things. It wasn’t so great. We had the calamari to start, which was delicious. The waiter collected the dish and asked if we wanted new cutlery, yes please - I wasn’t having fish for a main. We had the lamb ragu and hake. Both delicious, couldn’t fault. We asked for the bill, and it arrived straight away. We then had to wait 15 before anyone collected the payment. (It was only that we stood to leave, that they came over) It wouldn’t have been an issue if the staff were busy, they were, however chatting behind the bar. Lovely food, service not so good. Multiple members of staff without a face mask (none of which had an exempt lanyard)

The location and decor positioned itself as higher end. The experience and food proved to be different. I went for the mussels. Poor choice. Whoever was in the kitchen forgot to pour the sauce all over the mussels. While the plate was hot, the mussels weren't. They arrived in a large breakfast bowl with a wide rim. Hence I was able to mix the mussels into the sauce and help the taste process. The staff asked us so many times if we'd like a starter, more sides, some drinks, some other drinks, desert... It was clearly down on its revenue goals and needing to pump the punters.

We stopped off in Padstow to get some lunch and this restaurant was just lovely! The food was amazing and the service was great. We hadn’t booked but they kindly accommodated us anyway! My husband said it was possibly the best burger he’s ever had! I would highly recommend this restaurant! I couldn’t fault anything at all!

After being let down on our Anniversary by The Basement Restaurant ( Please see review) we tried the Burger and Fish with our friends. They were helpful ,friendly and welcoming. They fitted us in their upstairs restaurant.For starters we shared the meat deli board which included prosciutto, chorizo, salami with focaccia bread. The meat was fresh tasting and went down very well. For mains we had burgers.The Diablito Burger, Garden Black Bean Burger,Classic Cheese Burger and the Naked Burger with Garden Salad were some of the best burgers we have ever had. Washed down by some beers from Padstow Brewery ( our favourite).Deserts included Chocolate Brownie Sundae and Knickabocker Glory all of which were delicious. We are hoping t go back when we holiday in Padstow in September to try some of the fish plates. Thank you Burger and fish for a great lunch.

What a fabulous find. A really lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and really super food. We had the prawns to start and then hake & a burger for the main. Absolutely delicious and a notch above all of our other meals that we have had in Cornwall whilst visiting over the past few days. Wish it was closer to home!

Just had a great evening at Burgers & Fish. Fantastic food, great ambiance and superb service from Rob and the team. Fresh mussels and the BBQ monkfish were the pick of the dishes, but everything was delicious and the Polgoon Rosé was a really nice surprise too. Highly recommended.
