I am incredibly disappointed and decided to try Burger hood in Derby as but the burger, fries and drink is excessively priced at over £10.00 per person .The fries are very tasty and plentiful but the burger and bun is a children’s portion and I realise a profit has to be made but I paid double the price for a mini bun burger . It is unlikely I shall ever return again as there is cost of living crisis and menu prices should be value for money with a substantial serving of a burger and bun .

It was a delivery but well worth it. The burgers are proper with real chips and a great dip. Well worth the money and we will go again!

Excellent good quality food from this new little diner. Freshly prepared and very very tasty. Don’t order to much as the portions are massive with a large choice of burgers on the menu.

Our second trip to Hickory's Derby was nearly cancelled today. This was due to my partner, who was still ill from the flu not feeling well enough to have a sit-down meal. We stopped by to let them know we couldn't dine in as planned and they offered to provide a takeaway meal for us. The BBQ brisket, cheddar/jalapeno sausage, pickled onions, fries and coleslaw are amazing, had a great little birthday 'donut cake' added as a treat for her birthday. We are sorry we couldn't eat-in, as the atmosphere is fun, especially at the chef's table where you can watch the action. We'll be back when she is feeling better and certainly appreciate the manager and staff going the extra mile for us today. Thank you for making my partner's otherwise dreary birthday a nice treat! x

Possibly the most disappointing meal dining out in my life. Pre-ordered the fillet steak rare, and was given a fillet steak well done. When I asked for a new one I was told it would take half an hour because it was chargrilled (???). The waitress who we dealt with most clearly had no idea what was going on in the kitchen, she kept having to go back and ask but didn’t have any decent answers for us. I wasn’t offered anything in place of the ruined steak and had to ask for a side of mac and cheese, which was cold in the middle as it had obviously been microwaved. They genuinely couldn’t have cared less that I didn’t have any food. It turns out they swapped the medium rare and rare fillets, but actually the ‘rare’ was pretty bang on medium rare and the medium rare was well done. They just don’t know how to cook steak. We were told we couldn’t have starters as our food was ready within minutes of us arriving (read: it had been pre-cooked and reheated as the chef had evidently left for the day). That was a shame as we had been looking forward to those. We asked to speak to the chef and the waitstaff got really awkward about it which made us genuinely think they had gone home. We were sat upstairs in a room with no atmosphere whatsoever, no music and no other customers. At one point a group of men were also seated near us but upon hearing what had happened with our meal they got up and left. At the end they had the gall to say “we won’t charge you for the steak” which…of course they wouldn’t as we didn’t eat it and it was horribly overcooked. Most of the rest of our party thought the food was ‘fine’ or ‘not good’. It’s such a shame as it was a family event and it left such a sour taste in all our mouths.
