Chips where amazing best I’ve had in a while

As good a piece of Haddock as I've ever had,and I eat a lot of Haddock. This Fish Bar deserves a lot of custom,if it weren't for the fact I'm 70 miles from here,I would be eating here regularly. Keep up the great work and service Thank you for the food Scott

Best fish and chip shop in Carterton! Provided and delivered over 30 meals to our school for an event. All meals were hot and delicious and enjoyed by all!! When visiting the shop the staff are always friendly and clearly work very hard. Thank you so much Burford Road Fish Bar! I would reccomend this fish and chip shop to everyone!

Absolutely amazing people donated food to a local school as a present to the school and didn't charge a penny. Food was delicious and service was brilliant. Would definitely recommend 👌

Fantastic food and great service - Staff are polite and friendly! Halloumi and fish are fabulous. Batter not greasy but full of flavour. Food always fresh, would highly recommend.

The food has always been good and staff are usually friendly although on this visit the girl behind the counter rolled her eyes at me for wanting to pay cash and card and was talking about me to the other staff members never felt so uncomfortable waiting for my food to be ready

Ordered here Saturday night and was disappointed! Chips were cold , curry sauce was like water and gravy were so lumpy it was inedible. Service was great 👍 , always feel bit awkward as it's like a goldfish bowl lots staff just glare when you walk in ! There was probably 2 members of staff doing everything, the rest were having a social .

You can always tell how good a place is by the queue outside. It moves fast!! Served by minions! Reminds me of the movie The Founder. They are so busy! The food is excellent. I cannot rate this place any higher. Gordon Ramsey, be worried! Being serious. Amazing value for money

But I have bought fish and chips from Burford Road Fish Bar many times, and it has been uniformly excellent. Succulent cod, light and crispy batter and spot-on chip shop type chips. Perfect every time. The other F&C establishment in Carterton centre can be very hit and miss in my experience. I guess the chip portion sizes could be a bit bigger, but that said I am a gluttonous hog and I could always buy more or choose larger portions. For regular folk, the portions are fine. I have always found the staff warm and helpful, and the owner in particular is always super-friendly and enthusiastic about what he does. My cheeriness on entering is always reflected back at me, and I suppose if I was a grumpy sod I might get treated in kind. Who knows? Anyway, BRFB is a great fish bar run by proper people, and is therefore highly recommended.

This is one of the best Chippys there is. Everything they do is good and the staff are great. There's never a problem when I have an odd order and they go the extra mile.

Went here tonight for a chicken and halloumi kebab which are always so good. But this place was buzzing tonight, so busy but the staff are always so polite and personal and accommodating. Quite a few young members of staff with great character and customer skills. Well done to a great team

We ordered 17 fish & chip combo meals @ 35.80 as a takeaway. Excellent value and an excellent Fish & Chips good size portion cooked to perfection. Our first visit but will go again soon.

Good tasty chips, with lovely staff, but found the batter on the fish wasn't to our liking (thin and soggy rather than thin and crispy) after a handful of visits, also portion sizes could be improved.

Bought my tea from here one evening, got hone to unravel the wrapping to find the fishcakes were over cooked and chips had black inside them. I ate them because i was hungry then I felt ill from the fatty stodge half hour later. Its not cheap either. I'll buy a decent ready meal next time.

Very disappointing. Went from work to get dinner to take home. Couldn't take back and complain to tired and didn't fancy driving back. Hope Owners, are aware of this Fish dried up and chips had been reheated from lunch.

Extremely disappointed. After being a regular happy customer since it opened I was left disappointed tonight. The past three times we realised that the Portion size had gone down dramatically, and tonight was shocking. Im now left to find a new local chippy:(

My family and I used to absolutely rave about Burford road fish and chips, but unfortunately the last two meals we have had from here have been really disappointing. Batter that is soggy and chewy. Chips were lacking flavour and crispiness. Overall left us feeling quite let down, especially after the rather high prices (in our opinion). Unfortunately won’t be returning due to two unsatisfied meals now.

Food was spot on, service efficient and friendly. Portions were plentiful and delicious will be coming back. Prices are reasonable and not extortionate in today’s market.

Excellent quality and large portions. Looks a bit chaotic with the amount of orders being dealt with...but it's anything but. Everybody gets what they order, in the order they order it!

Average chippy went for some food order chips and pie and gravy and kebab meat with mayo and cabbage when got home chips were overcooked and used from lunch not hot gravy was so thick lumpy no mayonnaise on kebab at all friendly staff but they don’t listen to customers and seem to ask questions about orders and don’t listen poor food I received and paid for average chippy really

Typical inland fish and chip shop, unfortunately the youngsters don't know how to smile or engage. Nice grub though.

I was most disappointed with the fish and chips from this shop, as the fish was relatively small, the chips were dry and the meals were expensive for what we got. The service was not friendly either - it seemed like a burden. I won't be going back. I much prefer the other chip shop just around the corner!

After having many a lovely meal from Burford Rd Fish Bar with the family, I decided to see if they would cater for my works Christmas party last week. Extremely helpful and engaging from the first interaction, they went on to provide 31 meals exactly as ordered and to the very highest quality. Wonderfully friendly staff and great food means they’ll certainly be getting my business again. Bravo!

Not impressed with our take away fish and chips fish was very thin and like rubber to eat chips much the same

We are staying on a local campsite, the chippy van never turned up so had to take a drive out. Lots of parking out front, lads serving very helpful and happy. Only had chips, curry, peas and battered sausage. Food was very good and a great price, batter on sausage was really crispy, all the food was piping hot when I got back. Chips very nice, no hard undercooked bits.

Chips are very good, along with portion size. This place is usually very busy with the military personnel. Parking available outside.

Small portions. Expensive. Overrated. The chips that you order are left to steam away in a cardboard box, so they're often soggy. For some weird reason, when you order fish and chips, they decide to put the fish and chips in the same cardboard box. This means that the fish batter sticks to the chips and falls off, once you try and remove the fish. The fried chicken is decent, but as fish and chips go, it's bang average.

Went with some colleagues from work the fish was amazing and one of the cheaper places for the portions you get 9/10 recommend the staff are very friendly and helpful. I'll be going back for sure

This is the 2nd time in a row that we have been very disappointed with Burford Road Fish Bar. The fish was overcooked, the batter was chewy, and for £11, I'd expect more than a small handful of chips! The whole box was just thrown together. Gone down hill quite rapidly, and very disappointed.

Made me stand in the rain to wait to order. But let a third man wait in the shop.

Went here for the 1st time yesterday as usual now closed on a Monday. Food very good, chips really tasty, burger and nuggets also good. Curry sauce wasn't to everyone's liking however. Overall very good, clean and Covid safe.

By far the best fish and chips in the area!! Every time i visit the staff go above and beyond to ensure our food is cooked exactly the way we like it!! My husband is really fussy about his fish and chips, and they cook it to perfection every time!! The staff are always friendly, and the prices are more than reasonable! I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!!

Whenever we have that craving for fish & chips, regardless of where we are, we drive straight to Burford Road Chippy. The fresh fish is to die for, crispy and dry, I don't know how they get the chips the way they do but they are just delicious! My favourite meal of the week is my fish & chip supper, fresh bread and butter and of course mushy peas. Wouldn't be the same without my cup of tea. This place is the best for miles around, can't recommend highly enough. Delicious

We are on holiday and decided to have our tea from here. I rang the order through which was really quick and dealt with professionally. I could not believe the portion sizes, my daughter and I shared Cod and chips which was absolutely gorgeous. When I arrived to collect the order it was all done safely. Would highly recommend

This was my first visit to BRFB. I ordered Cod and a small chip. I did not waste time to try my meal as I tucked in at the park behind the shop. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the portion. The chips were hot, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside; perfectly done. The fish was also hot, with crispy batter and flakey meat. As a meal it was delicious. The price was reasonable and, I think, a good value. I will be a repeat customer.

The setup at Burford Road Fish Bar is almost perfect for the current COVID19 situation. The staff’s safety has clearly been well thought through with large screens, and only 2 customers allowed in at any one time. Onto the food, now admittedly I went to...
