Always a treat to go to dinner at Buongiorno . Food is consistently excellent and the service is always warm and friendly. So lucky as locals to have it nearby but well worth traveling to if you’re not!

We went last Saturday for a long 50th birthday celebration lunch. There were 12 of us and we nearly filled this lovely intimate restaurant. The guys that run it were brilliant and so was the food. An excellent time had by all. I shared the "Fish Madness" with a friend - it was perfect.

Rude and disrespectful. Food wasn’t fresh, ready made meals. I paid a total of £80 for a supermarket microwave meal for two. They have a tesco outside, so I’d just go there next time. - Manners don’t cost anything, so before you reply with rude false accusations count to 10.

While the atmosphere was nice, the food was far from expectations. We ordered a carbonara, which I think is a tell tale sign of a good restaurant, which was very creamy and lacked flavour. My partner ordered a lasagne, which tasted quite bland. The dessert aswell was very prepared. Overall, we weren’t happy with our experience and felt that we weren’t respected as younger guests.

Great quality food meets exceptional service. You could see that the manager was just ‘on it’ and clearly passionate that his guests should have the absolute best experience possible while dining with them. Really attentive and a well paced dinner with some great tasting and well presented food. I will absolutely be heading back. Definitely worth visiting.

In fact we visited twice this month - once in the evening as a couple and once at lunchtime with family. On both occasions, we were treated to wonderful, tasty and very well-cooked food served in a place with a friendly and relaxed ambiance, complemented by its great staff. Thank you, Daniele and team for yet more super visits!

Delicious authentic Italian menu with lots of specials on the board. The service was fabulous. This quirky little Italian restaurant is situated within a housing estate near a little Tesco and comes highly recommended if you don’t mind a little drive out of York walls. Parking is free.

From the outside this small restaurant looks like nothing special. Don't be fooled. It's small and has an intimate feel. The hospitality staff are charming and welcoming. The menu is good and has some usual favourites. The blackboard display the specials. I was with colleagues so we shared starters of bruscetta and garlic bread. It's definitely the best I've had outside of Italy. I'm not sure if the chef is Italian, the hospitality staff are italian. The owner who is responsible for the direction of the menu and the quality of the food clearly has high standards and only accepts quality produce. I had a pizza with ham and mushroom. Mamma Mia....it was hand made and absolutely delicious. Definitely the best outside of Italy (and better than some places in Italy). The ham was high quality. The crust was thin and crisp. It tasted divine. My colleagues had pasta with a ragu. One colleague had king prawns. I've never seen prawns as big! The plates were clean. The desert menu came. I had a thin slice of almond cake, sauce, cherries and ice cream with a shot on the side. My colleague had a tiramisu. I was so engrossed in the food I only took 1 photo. Overall the experience was fabulous. The food is perfect. Seriously perfect. The presentation is incredible, the chef obviously takes pride in his dishes. You need to book. We went on a thursday evening and all tables were full. I'll definitely return and have already recommended to friends. It takes a lot to impress me, but Buongiorno certainly made a big impression. If you want to try something more authentic and a change from the usual Italian fare found in most places, this is the place for you. As an Italian I was delighted to find 'trofie', a type of pasta, on the menu and cooked to perfection. Lots of choice also if you are vegetarian. Inside is cozy and the service is excellent. It's definitely on my firm lists of favourites in York now. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful night at Buongiorno York on Saturday! Service was fantastic, food was delicious and was so good we had 4 bottles between 4 after changing our taxi to a later time. An unexpected location worth getting a taxi for! Thank you Daniele and team. We will be back soon!

This genuinely was the best food I've eaten, reminded me of my trip to Italy. Its a short taxi ride from York City centre but I genuinely recommend you make the trip. The owners were fantastic, very accommodating and super friendly. Its a small menu, which allows the care and love to go into each dish and you can tell they know exactly what they are doing. Will be visiting again in the near future.

Really great food and atmosphere but we felt rushed by the waiters all evening.Our booking was for 7pm, and at 8.20pm they said they had another booking at 8.30pm. When we booked we were not told this otherwise we would not have made the booking.The rushed service and lack of communication re only having the table for 1.5hrs ruined our evening which was a shame as the food was delicious.

If you are in the middle of York City as a visitor then this one may not be for you. Booked it because of good reviews. Forced to pay a £20 deposit by the restaurant so felt compelled to then pay another £20 taxi fares to and from city to get to it in the middle of a council estate. Friendly staff, my daughter enjoyed her carbonara but my lasagna was decidedly mediocre! They were very gracious not charging me for it. I don’t like putting anyone down at this time but at least know what you are getting. V disappointed

Came to Buongiorno to celebrate valentine’s day with my boyfriend. Food was presented really well with delicious authentic flavours as I was expecting. The service was excellent and quick, I had forgotten to take the tag off my top and they were very quick to tell and help sort it! The place itself is beautiful and it reminds me of traditional shops back in Italy, I felt as though I was back at home! I would recommend Buongiorno to everyone, wonderful in every way. Thank you for giving us a lovely experience, will definitely be back soon☺️
