On our way home from visiting the Spitfire exhibition in Stoke we came upon this lovely pub and it is steeped in history and the staff were very chatty and Liam who served us was so helpful and friendly also very hard working and conscious. Dad had his usual soup and ice-cream while myself and husband had the beef burger and cheesecake. With it's open fire and original beams it is a wonderful place we also met June and Sue a couple of sisters who were very chatty and Sue who is in a band called Strung Together will be performing at my 65th birthday party in May next year 😀

Having been let down last minute at a nearby pub, we rang the bulls head and asked if there was any chance they could fit 18 people in for a 60th wedding anniversary in ten minutes time, as we were around the corner. The staff were completely unfazed by this and welcomed us with open arms, the food was lovely and the service was absolutely brilliant. We cannot thankyou enough for accommodating us at such short notice and turning a disaster into a brilliant night, well done.

We had our football presentation here because of the large open space for the kids to play. There was around 50 of us and we all ordered lunch (pre-order). The food was lovely and came out family by family which was great. They couldn’t do enough for us. They opened early to let us set up, set up goals for the kids to play and were forever checking if they could do anything. Will definitely hold further presentations here.

Wonderful mid-afternoon lunch on a Sunday. One of the best pints of Guinness I've had for along time. My wife enjoyed her glass of wine as well. For our main meal we chose sirloin steak, which at £24 each wasn't cheap, served on a hot plate, so the chips, mushrooms and onion rings remained hot until our meals were finished. Other landlords from our usual haunts should come here and see, taste and feel what a proper pint of Guinness is like, also how much nicer it is when the meal remains hot by simply heating up the plate. The Bull's Head is not cheap, but the quality of the food and drinks is second to none, even when it is busy. Yes we will come again, thoroughly recommended

Our final stop on our holiday. Wish we hadn't made it. Burnt food, less than welcoming atmosphere from the staff, despite there being practically no one there. My husband's paté, he was pretty sure was off. My steak pie was so burnt and in no way fresh. The meat was burnt, the pastry was so hard it was impossible to eat. And surprisingly, on reflection, I had to pay when I ordered. Flat Coke. The only reason it gets any stars is because my kids loved the fact there was a play park. There seemed little point in complaining to the staff. With practically no customers, there's no way the quality (or lack thereof) of the food could have been an oversight. Avoid.

My partner and I visited The Bulls Head for a Valentine’s Day meal having never been before and wanting to try somewhere new. The place itself is beautiful, full of character and very well maintained. The food we had was also very nice - good quality and decent portion sizes, not a very long wait and lovely staff. Our only criticism is that, seeing as it was Valentine’s Day, we felt that a little bit of decoration in the eating area would’ve gone a long way in setting a more romantic, date-night feel (even maybe just a candle on the table). It is a small critique for an otherwise faultless visit. Needless to say we would likely visit again, and would recommend it to others. :)

We always used to meet our family here as it is a halfway point between our homes.....my husband and I called on our way back from dropping our grandson off. We wished we hadn't, the food was ok, but looking round, we started to notice how ''mucky'' the whole place was, Strange, but as another writer had pointed out, my husband was shocked at all the paperwork lying about on tables. I noticed the window frames were filthy [inside] and a visit to the loo proved to be ''not nice'', there was a cupboard seemingly held together with sellotape....awful. The staff are morose to say the least....there is a lady that works behind the bar and also delivers food to the table.....I'm sure she must have smiled at some point in her life.

Used the app Around Me to find this place. Walked in was very very quiet. No hello etc from staff on arrival. Gentleman behind the bar seemed a little impatient with us making our minds up with drinks but seemed polite enough! Decided to stay as we had been driving round for a while. When going back to the bar there was a very solemn lady serving again no hello. Polite greeting seen only to be towards the locals. Ordered the food which took a while which I didn't mind as being a little in the sticks and the whole area reeling of manure was under the assumption I'd be receiving a fresh home cooked meal. This was not so, I ordered steak pie which came as a slice on a plate FULL of veg and a separate portion of chips and gravy! Took me a while to arrange it so it was all on the same plate. Pastry on the pie wasn't very nice but was packed with steak. Fresh veg and very crispy frozen chips. I didn't eat much as I was a bit over faced. Would not return but then I'm not from the area so we wouldn't anyway.

We have frequented the Bulls Head for a couple of years now. We mainly go to meet friends and sample the beer. They always have three guest beers on, always different and in all the time we have gone there, we have never have had a bad pint. The beer is also very competitively priced. The staff are very friendly and obliging. From time to time we have eaten there and the meals have been fine - typical wholesome pub fare. Again, we have never been disappointed.I am often surprised how quiet the place can be some nights when everything you would want from a country pub is there. Now and again they host a local music society who play in an adjacent room. You can hear them but it is not intrusive. Again this adds to the ambience.Don't change anything.

Old traditional pub, a little dated and could do with a bit of tlc here and there but nice country pub atmosphere, we sat on a table for two in a corner window seat, nice spot and atmosphere was relaxed and not too noisy which I hate. The food was delicious and well presented. Had starters of potato skins loaded with cheese and bacon with side salad, pate with garnish, cranberry and toast. Meat & potato pie with puff pastry, veg, chips and Smallwood sausages and mash served with veg all very tasty. Gravy was yum. Although bursting after good sized portions, we went for desserts! Recommend sticky toffee pud and homemade rum & raisin cheesecake, nice cup of coffee finished our meal, all served by a very pleasant young man and lady. The place was packed soon after our arrival at 1pm, so recommend reserving a table.

I don't know if it was the landlady or waitress, but she was incredibly miserable and grumpy. After placing the order I had a walk around the pub and thought it was quite grubby and needed a good cleaning. The area at the rear of the bar looked like a junk yard. Dead flowers were in vases around the pub. The food was acceptable for pub food, but nothing outstanding. Only when I paid the bill and left a generous tip did I see a smile from the lady that took our order. Probably won't return, which is a shame because I dine a lot in this area.

Went with what was supposed to be a group of 15 but sadly only 9 turned up.When we got there they had split us over 3 tables rather than putting us all together. They were helpful to rearrange and very laid back about it.The food was average pub food (most of us had the Christmas menu). We were told the Christmas decorations would still be up but sadly they weren't.The service was fairly good. Te dishes all came with an odd side salad with rice, lettuce, grated carrot, potato salad, etc. Just a bit of an odd mix and not great tasting together. I had sea bass which came with a herb butter, but on tipping it out the pot it was served in it was frozen and therefore cooled my food quickly, despite being initially on a hot plate. Yorkshires were crunchy and not home-made. Overall we had a good time, and were well looked after, but the food was average and nothing special.

The landlady behind the bar was not the friendly soul. We chose the conservatory to sit was very pleasant. The prices on the menu were surprising. The basic pub dishes e.g. pie or fish were cheaper than average but the steaks were not.The starters took a while to come and were not very good. It was surprising that all salads came with melon. Not seen that before. The main courses were poor, The steak was tasteless and the seafood platter was something Iceland would not be proud of.I asked for a glass of Merlot and was persuaded to purchase a bottle. This was a blunder as the wine was possibly the worst I have tasted. The majority of the bottle was taken home to be used in cooking.Overall a poor night and it is not a pub we would use again.

Came here for mum and dads wedding anniversary meal, ordered from the 3 course for £12 or whatever it was menu, after asking and waiting over 40 mins the starters arrived. The table next to us came after us ordered their food, ate and sat ten mins before our starters came. We then had to chase up the mains. In the end we left and went to another pub further up. Absolutely terrible service

Drive past this pub almost daily but never been in until today. Very friendly service and really nice food at a good price. Also a good playground for my son. Will definitely be back.

Well, i suppose you get what you pay for....This pub is tired and needs a lot of updating, with the right owners I think this place could be fantastic, but unfortunately it is currently stuck in the dark ages.We went here for a family lunch last Sunday, the food isn't very good, but isn't awful and is fairly priced and the waiter service is terrible and doesn't come with a smile. But to be fair, they aren't pretending to be anything special and they are not, you get exactly what it says on the tin!

Have been here before, standard pub food, but not somewhere you would take anyone to impress them! To be fair the meal I had, gammon steak with chips and salad was very acceptable, although I have been before and been astounded by the poor, overly cooked, frozen food. I wouldn't really choose to go here for a meal, but the others I went with wanted to go. In agreement with previous reviewers, the landlady IS very miserable. You begin to wonder if you have done something wrong on your entry into the pub!! Basic pub grub, interior could do with a spruce up.

We had a lovely meal, service was fast and very pleasant, the menu is the normal pub type food with plenty on the specials board. I was very happy to see the quality food was brilliant and large portions to match. Can honestly say one of the nicest meals I've had in the area.

I have visited here many times with and without my family. The staff have always been very gracious and catered for demanding children and pregnant women. The food is absolutely gorgeous every time and are enjoyed in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. The outside area is great for kids to run around in and not once have they complained that the park is small. It is buy clearly containers everything the children wish for.

I am a regular visitor and can honestly say that I have never been disappointed . The menu is varied and would find it hard to believe that you couldn't find enough on there to tantalise your taste buds...but if you were struggling, just take a look at the specials board, it changes on a regular basis. Sometimes you have to wait a bit longer than others depending on how busy it is, but if you want fast food, rather than quality food.... go to macdonalds....and while you wait, there are plenty of nice wines and great ales to choose from. They also have regular accoustic evenings which are relaxed and fun whether you are there to play or listen.Have a look at there facebook page for dates.

We've been dining here for many years and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and home cooked and there is always something very tempting on the specials board. The sweets are all good too even though I opt for a glass of wine while the other members of my family are eating ice cream! We look forward to every visit, well done bulls head team see you again soon.

I don't like leaving poor reviews, they say if you've nothing nice to say then say nothing at all! But I felt let down and think that any honest feedback is good feedback. I've been to the pub before and had good meals, but last Sunday I visited and had a Mixed Grill (19.95) and My Girlfriend had Steak and Ale Pie (I think it was £9.95).I asked if I could swap the Mushrooms and Black Pudding on the meal for some Onion RIngs, which was duly accepted (There was no mention of Onion rings on the board in Mixed Grill). On receipt of the food I had Onion rings on my plate... great stuff. Then a minute later an extra portion of Onion rings was brought on a side dish. The lady said that it came with Onion rings, and I had ordered an extra portion, I showed her that I hadn't, because it wasn't on the board, and she said I might as well have them anyway. I didn't want or eat them. The meat was very poor quality, with the steak and Gammon very similar colours and it was very greasy. I would have thought they'd been microwaved, then not finished under the grill. The sausages were Chip Shop sausages, which when your paying £20 is unacceptable in my opinion, The Lamb Chop was nice. Onion rings were also good. Kathryn's Pie was nice, with a good portion of veg and chips. The Puff pastry lid was nice, and the meat tasty with a nice sauce and some good gravy. We approached the bar to pay, and we were told £35 (no Bill, just told!), Kathryn Paid and I asked for a receipt, to find we had been charged for 3 cokes (I'd only had 2) and also £1.95 for the extra Onion rings I neither ordered nor wanted. I couldn't be bothered to complain, We just walked out for the last time!

I'm sure a motorway cafe would have better food than here. Brie wedges with cranberry sauce and salad to start - wedges over cooked to the point of fresh air wrapped in bread crumbs, after complaining I was served a better portion, but they added more cranberry sauce so starter now resembled the appearance of soup. Mains consisted of chips (frozen powder form), gammon and pineapple (on a plate the size of a side dish) I also requested a well done egg which didn't arrive so I it requested again, and It was brought out on its own plate and under cooked, the salad came out in its own bowl, I did not attempt dessert. Presentation - zero, taste - zero, cost - extremely over priced. Will not be returning or recommending.

On approach to the pub, which is situated on a very fast, busy main road, it looks nice, traditional, with outdoor play area and plenty of parking. Once inside, it's quite dark, dismal and cold, nothing like the "warm and cosy" description on the website. As for the advertised warm welcome, no chance!! You certainly wont get that from the landlady, who clearly hasnt learned to smile or befriend her customers. Not at all friendly or welcoming. Would suggest that the landlady goes on a customer care training course on how to treat her punters with respect, and if nothing else, at least give us a pleasant smile, instead of a very negative, abrupt and miserable attitude. Clearly she doesnt enjoy her job which reflects in her poor customer service.

I had scampi, one friend had cod and chips and two friends had fish pie. Mine was very good and plenty of it. A comment about the fish pie was that it could have had more fish in it and didn't need a bread roll as there was plenty of potato there. Salad was nice. For desert the ice cream was delicious. A great idea was that you could try three different beers with a small glass of each one to see which one you liked best.

Never again. We have never been to a public house with such a miserable Landlady, honestly she never even cracked a smile to welcome you. We ordered steak pie and it arrived microwaved as the pastry was soft and gooey so we sent it back. When I went to pay at the bar the Landlady was really ill-mannered, I told her we had sent the meals back due to them being microwaved so i wanted to pay for the drinks.. She tutted then she muttered it was a best seller and no one had ever complained about it before so She was basically calling me a liar, insinuating that we were fussy or troublemakers. What happened to customer is right? Not in that place. One plus point...The young waiter guy was lovely, happy and smiling, how he puts up with that atmosphere is beyond me. We will never go there again but then again we were never welcome in the first place.

We came here for our wedding dinner on a Saturday. The location was perfect, and so was where we were seated as we were seated in the conservatory part, which was light with the windows. The only hitch was that the tables weren't put together but after a talk at the bar th tables were arranged for us how we'd like. We had a three-course menu made for us, which had good options on. The fishcake starter was lovely with some very tasty tartare and salad. The mango chicken with rice main was something I'd never had before but fully enjoyed it. And for afters, a yummy fudge cake to fill the hole. My experience was good, though the rest of my family (who went for pate/melon starters & roast dinner/gammon mains) had a poor experience with food. Overall though my view was that it was nice with friendly waitresses.

I went here with a party of 4 on a busy Saturday evening. We arrived and were seat promptly with drinks. The menu had somthing for everybody. I went for the pate to start and then the chicken curry for main and both were very nice. The staff were very helpful and polite. Then for dessert I had a choclate lumpy bumpy with cream which was out of this world. The building was very lovely with a big open fair place and log burners throughout. I would highly recommend this pub to all friends and family. We shall be returning very soon to this lovely pub.

Regular diners at the Bulls Head - been going there for several years. Yet to be disappointed with the quality of the food and drink after many many visits. Highly recommended to those who wish to venture somewhere different - in winter its warm fires, warm reception and family run business atmosphere.

I have been here twice over the last couple of months and my advice is drive past and go the Legs of man that is just a couple of miles up the road. The prices thay charge you would expect the quality to be better, 1st visit had garlic beef and that can only be described as cheap poor quality frying steak coverd in a thick gloopy instant gravey thats tasteless.2nd visit had seafood platter, that could only be described as the cheapest supermart scampi, fish cake ect. Nothing fresh about it your local chip shop would be better quality.service not great as a few mins delay, 2 meals arrived then about 5 mins untill the other 2 peoples food arived.Dont bother complaining either as the landlady just gives you dirty looks and is quite rude.

I'm being objective in giving 3* because we go here quite a bit. Steady pub food, mains less than a tenner. Nice salad. 3 rotating real ales. Almost always at least one fire. We like the space - usually somewhere to lose yourself in 2 conservatories and a huge garden.

The attitude of the staff was awful. Really odd saying as how little trade they get these days. Used to be a busy place until the Chef who thought he was Gordon Ramsay was given too much say. In my opinion this is one to drive past these days unless you have a desire to be ignored or insulted by staff.

This pub is simply terrible, we arrived to eat on a sunday and ordered drinks from the very miserable landlady, we ordered 3 chicken roast dinners that when came looked and tasted liked a load of frozen tasteless vegetables with the peas taking up literally half the plate, with processed chicken breast frozen rolled and sliced, certainly not the freshly roasted fayre we were expecting having just paid nearly £10 a head. When we explained to the waitress that we were not happy, we were simply ignored, when we approached the "chef" and i do term that very loosely , we were told in a very abrupt manner that he didnt give refunds, even though we had left two whole meals. When i then explained that i would like a receipt as i would be taking it further, the landlady slapped £20 on the bar and told us "dont bother coming back" we were astonished to say the least and would advise anyone thinking of stopping here for a meal to drive past this place as fast as possible

Cheap beer but that's about it. Only pub I know where you have to queue in an orderly line to get to the bar! Can't comment on the food

We attended the festival of transport in Audlem and called in for breakfast at the Bridge Inn. The food was excellent, big portions and very good value with coffee or tea refills. The staff were very attentive and friendly and we will definitely go back again when we are in the area.
