Bull Inn in West Berkshire

A great pub steeped in History and now the new team are in there with Karen, Paul, John and Taylor They are welcoming and friendly. Food is great and fresh and reasonably priced. Pool table and darts and a sit in the massive garden too.

Great pub, lovely garden and plenty of parking. Stopped for lunch with a friend, good choice of drinks, food was really good and the staff were friendly, the barman Jon was great. We will be back.

New management have shaken the place upside down to turn the place into a local friendly pub with good food again. Gone are the days of beat the landlord on a yard of ale along with everything else that killed the pub.

A friend and I took our children in for dinner and all the burgers and lasagne disappeared quickly. The puddings were also enjoyed and they had a lot of choice (a whole menu) for my gluten free daughter. Service was efficient and friendly and the pub was clean and dog friendly.

Lovely welcome when you walked in, staff acknowledged you straight away, had a bite from the lunch menu which was really lovely! Highly recommend will be back with the rest of the family! Good luck to the new management team you guys are already doing an amazing job!

Came in for lunch had a Lovely cowboy burger and my mum had mac and cheese she said was amazing. Good selection of drinks. Staff were very friendly. Under new management and already looking cleaner. We will be back

Booked in for valentine's dinner and they just had their kitchen closed. They did not contact me to let me know. Horrific management....

Turned up today ... (booked the table last night) sign up saying kitchen closed ... why did I not get a call or email??? Didn't bother going in! Went to Coppa Club ... where they were able to fit us in and we had great service and food Pubs are struggling for customers.... perhaps you should think about how you treat yours?

Fantastic food - my daughter is still raving about her curry! Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and staff.

Booked a table online several days beforehand for Sunday lunch. Called to advise we were running a little late but we're on our way. Was advised that the booking was invalid and we would not be dining as the kitchen has closed down permanently and The Bull are offering no food at all. Cannot believe the incompetence which allows you to book but then doesn't have the decency to contact you to advise the booking cannot be honoured. Do Marstons treat all their customers with such utter contempt?

In the throes of change of ownership/management a goid pub well placed good parking and serves food. Close to the town.

Solid pub with great old ‘bones’ - but let down by some curious choices for atmosphere. They were playing loud music AND the sound from the sport on the tele. Pick one, guys. Slot machine in the corner and a pool table also detracted from the potential historic pub ambience.

A little gem of pub Welcombe by the a gentian called Tony he couldt of been more pleasant and helpful . We will be Returning and using the Bull as our local now thank you :-)

Met up with friends and took us here, what a lovely pub, the staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. The meal we had was well cooked, hot and presented very well. Definitely recommend.

Food wasn’t available due to chef , but the atmosphere was amazing rooms are 5***** … not to mention the hospitality of a lady called “Sam” she couldn’t do enough for us xx will visit again

Was really looking forward to a hotdog as described on the menu (pork Frankfurter in a brioche style bun ) Was served a deep-fried sausage in a rock solid bun which was inedible

Great friendly pub with a pool table and darts board. Steak and Ale pie was great. Pub was happy to accomodate a large group and made us feel really welcomed.

24 of us were staying at the YHA in Streatley this week. We all visited The Bull on Thursday night. The team at The Bull worked very hard to accommodate our group and all of the food was great. We felt very welcome. Well done to all the staff. Many thanks.

The staff were very friendly, especially the chap who cooked the food. The bbq cauliflower wings were amazing. The leek and potato soup was delicious and the chips were lush. Would highly recommend eating here.

Staff were incredibly rude and belittling, and accused one of our group of having a fake ID when this was not the case. The bar staff yelled out that it was fake, laughed in our faces and even drew a fake ID mockingly to hand back to us, all of which was unnecessarily aggressive, based on their assertion that it was not holographic (which it clearly was). Even after proving the ID was real and them being forced to give the ID back, the bar staff was still extremely standoffish, and we left without ordering. A respectful attitude from the barman could have avoided the whole situation as we were more than willing to show evidence. I would advise against going here unless you're willing to risk being condescended and insulted to your face.

Traditional pub in little village of Streatley with car park at rear. Lovely big garden, lots of tables, delicious food (burgers all round!) & friendly & efficient staff. Definitely recommend if in the area. Only 2 miles from beautifil Basildon Park National Trust (Bridgerton, Downton & Pride & Prejudice filmed there!) - all in all a great day out!

Gone down hill. Garden very run down with ashtrays full . Furniture randomly placed.

Great welcome and service. Ben engaged with the kids and made them feel comfortable. Rooms were simple but clean and far better value than anything else locally.

Booked a table but only 1 beef dinner left so chicken ordered . I chicken was stone cold so was taken away when returned was stringy . Yorkshire pudding was covered in gravy which made them floppy !! Staff did take our chicken meal off the bill but put us off completely sorry

Could not have had a better experience here. I am doing the Ridgeway National Trail walk for charity and got chatting to the bar staff and owners about the RAF Benevolent Fund for which I am raising money for. They give me the meal on the house and it was amazing. Top marks for hospitality, what a cracking set of people here!!

Great service the bar manager was very helpful with my elderly mother ensuring she was comfortable checking that she and us had everything we needed even advising to bring the car round to the front of the pub so she would not have to climb the steps in the garden

Came here on an off chance as was hungry passing by. I had the the pie was very good and the staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Great value for money. Drinks were very good. And there was an open mic night which was great will be back

The service was faultless. We were a large group of 13 celebrating a family birthday over Sunday lunch. All of the staff made us feel welcome and showed the right balance between attention and giving us space to enjoy the occasion. Your staff went the extra mile with attention to detail, such as offering to charge one of our party's electric wheelchair during the meal. Thank you.

Excellent service, we were a group of 13, and the staff were very helpful especially with one of our party who was in an electric wheelchair and needed extra help. Even charged up the battery for the chair whilst we ate! Good vegetarian and vegan options for the roast.

Genuinely among the best service I've ever had, such lovely people run this place. Food was great too!

Having booked at table we very quickly realised that we had made a big mistake. There was no table set up for us, with a limited menu. When we came to order drinks there was no bitter on the premises. The food took over fifty minutes to be delivered and was very, very poor quality. The mash tasted like “instant potato” the peas were hard and possibly tinned and overcooked and the pastry on the pies was thick and tasteless. There was no Manager/ess on site to talk to. However, the two young ladies were doing their best to manage an impossible situation. In our opinion the whole experience was unacceptable. We were very disappointed and embarrassed/apologetic to our guests who were visiting the area.

Food was horrendous, should never have been served up. Apparently there were issues in the kitchen and we only had pie, steak, burger or curry to choose from.. all 4 of us choose pie. Took 1hr 10 mins to appear (pub wasn't busy) and in my opinion was virtually inedible. Peas were tinned and cold, mash was Smash, pies were all pastry and tasteless and you needed a knife to cut the gravy! Appalling food.

I have been there three times now. The food is always good, so is the beer and the staff polite and helpful. The atmosphere of the pub is great too and we can always get a table for food.

Service was great, very attentive and friendly staff, however the food wasn’t the best quality. It is reasonably priced so can’t complain too much but the thing that made us laugh was the ‘buttermilk chicken fillets’ were Birdseye Chicken Dippers!!!!!!

Stayed at the Bull Inn while hiking the Ridgeway and it was the perfect place to stop halfway through the walk. The pub had a friendly and cosy atmosphere, the food was great and really good value, and the room was very comfortable. The staff were fantastic too and made me and my tired muddy feet feel very welcome! Hope to be back again soon :)

Excellent service, especially from the manager who made a point of coming to us and dealing (very well) with a minor issue. So encouraging to experience, as certainly not always a given. Definitely recommend.

Friendly staff, but some of the worst food I’ve ever come across….

Such a shame that a lovely looking pub that use to be so nice for food and a a catch up has gone down hill so badly. Food missing off the plate would of let someone know but no one came over or around to let know. Half table service half not! Had to go to the bar to pay after waiting for a long time to be offered a pudding or the bill! Was then served by a “friend” helping out who came from the other side of the bar after taking a drink of beer! Really disappointed in service mainly. Sat next to a burned extension lead with other cables around it. **editing review as no option to reply to the pub on here…. Yes the egg was brought out but also the chicken was missing if you remember rightly?? Also we booked a table online so at no point was I informed I was sat in the bar area and not the main restaurant? We just sat where we was shown to.

Not sure how this place has over 4*. It's cheap but it's not great... Serving clearly recooked fish and chips and mixing up orders is not what you need after a big walk.

The 2 staff seemed friendly enough but the decor was very out of date and the food was average. The men's toilets were disgusting and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Had to hunt for salt and pepper and wasn't offered anything to accompany our dinner. 2 stars as they were at least friendly.

I tried to book an online reservation for the selected date and time. I was informed that this would be put as an enquiry and the Bull in Streatley would get back to me and that the booking was not confirmed at that stage. I never heard back at all regarding this so made other arrangements. I was extremely dissatisfied that I did not even get any form of correspondence back from them. We have been before several years ago and thought it would be nice for me and my wife to have a nice evening out as the menu looked very good. Not to be!

Stopped here for Saturday lunch. Friends service, excellent, well-kept beer. We both had fish and chips. It was delicious and great value. We'll be coming here again.

Pup always seems to be very quiet. Table was sticky. Food was disgusting, dry and small portions. Toilet was horrible and no toilet roll. Not a very good experience!

Food very good value. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Good selection of beers. Easy parking. Atmosphere lacking but this was probably because we were early evening, it started to fill up as we were leaving

Had a great dinner here. Service was great, pub had a great vibe, and our pooch was allowed and tended for. After dinner we moved on to a sofa by the fire.

I went with my family for a Christmas lunch and was very disappointed. The new landlord had only been in a week, the lady serving seemed like she didn't want to be there, it wasn't busy as we were the only customers there. We had to ask for christmas crackers for the table and also asked for some Christmas music to be played. The landlord had just got rid of his chef and had his wife cooking the Christmas lunch in the kitchen, presentation well they did their best it seemed to me that they had been put right in the deep end of things. I also had to say to the front of house lady that there was no toilet roll in the ladys toilets at all, a simple thing that should of been checked before opening. We made the best of things but not a good experience and it has probably stopped me from ever returning which is a shame
