Had a lovely meal here with my daughter and her Nan. The staff where very attentive always making sure we are all ok and looking after us. Food came out very quickly and it was all very tasty!! Shout out to James,Josh and Erin for making us feel very welcome.

Stayed for work - nice room, plenty space & well maintained. Great food & service Cant complain - 5☆

Booked quite late but able to get a table at time requested. Greeted on arrival & went straight to our table. Service & food were good & we enjoyed the time spent.

Great evening meal here. Fab menu, all meals were delicious and we had a bottle of wine. Service was great, so will definitely visit again!

Spacious dining area with a good selection of adult & kids dishes including burgers, meats and veggie meals. It was pretty quiet on the day with the service quick and polite. There is also a spacious bar area if it's only drinks you want including non alcoholic choices. Would have been 5 stars but for the tough steak served with the mixed grill

This is the second occasion, that I have visited the Berkshire Arms, and on this second trip, I stayed overnight with my wife. My overall impression is very good. The décor is lovely, and the premises clean. We found the staff very polite, attentive and respectful. They also seemed very cheerful and happy, at their work and worked together well, which is a sign of good management, Absolutely no complaints with the service, or the meals, excellent, and served exactly as requested. We did stay overnight, and were equally impressed by how nice the rooms were, clean and tidy, with a very comfortable bed. We had a very peaceful night, and enjoyed the breakfast the next day too. One nice added touch is that amongst the tea/coffee making items is a small sealed jug, with an invite to take it to the bar for fresh milk, if that was our preference. The Public House is located just off the A4, and not too far from Reading and Newbury, so is in a prime location for meals and accommodation. Normally I can find some fault, even minor at most of the places we have stayed at, but to be perfectly honest, and I state this here. I found it very hard to fault anything. We had a very nice experience, and most certainly will be back. Thank you Berkshire Arms.

My husband and I stayed for one night had an evening meal and breakfast the atmosphere service and dinner were excellent and our room was very clean and having a special container for fresh milk was a lovely touch will definitely revisit very soon

We came here for Sunday lunch recently and really enjoyed it. The pub has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. We were served by James who was very attentive.

Very Nice food and if it were judged just on the food it was 5 star, unfortunately it was terribly slow. At one point we also had to clear our own table of glasses too. We were prepared for a slower than usual service being a Saturday but it was ridiculous. Arrived at 6pm and didn't leave till 9pm!

Had a great lunch there. Very friendly staff, the food was really tasty with good size portions. Definitely going again.

Everybody loves the Tally Hoo. Only problem is it gets very busy as the food is very good, the atmosphere is calm and peaceful and the service is excellent.

I came here with a few friends for a meal and some drinks, I had the duo chicken and a blackcurrant mule. Everyone is so friendly and I will definitely be coming back soon

Visited just after Christmas. It was very cosy and nicely decorated. A nice atmosphere. Took a friend from Brazil to show her a traditional country pub. She loved it. She didn't enjoy her food so much as her steak was tough and her red wine was acrid as it had been open too long. I would have sent it back but she didn't realise it was 'off ' until I tried it before we left. I had the Shepherds pie which had a whole lamb shank in it and was lovely, even though their wasn't much meat on it I enjoyed it. My lime soda was very nice.

Visited on the way to a families house over the festive period. We had a waitress called Melody and she was amazing. She did everything she could to make our visit the best. Went above and beyond for us and made our visit a breeze.

Since the refurb this place has been really good. I’m fussy but find the food is always excellent. Really well done and the service good too.

Last minute drink with the work colleagues was well accommodated by the staff they gave us an area to use and the service and food was excellent, great atmosphere and a great pint of peroni too..

We stopped off here after going to Newbury for a Pantomime. We had an autistic child with us. The waiter offered us a seat in the corner next to a family with a young baby. This made it so much less stressful for us as if our child gets upset we feel awful that we've disrupted other people. So that was appreciated. The food was very good. Our 3 kids are it all. We plan to return without our boys so that we can relax and taste some more dishes. The decoration and atmosphere was perfect for us. We were neverous to try somewhere new. But as I said, I asked to be seated in a corner away from too many people and it was fine, no problem for the waiter and he was very discreet our son didn't notice and was calm. Thanks 👍

Booked for our family Christmas dinner months prior and the last one with the kids together in the same place only to be told that they were no longer doing the festive menu after we sat down and had to ask ourselves.we had booked months prior however there was no email or call letting us know..it took 2 hours to get food that was cold and absolutely disgusting I would never recommend this establishment to anyone and will never return myself.thankyou berkshire arms for ruining our Christmas eve you should be ashamed to serve that food and of your business practices and customer service. if I could give you zero stars I absolutely would

While in England visiting family, we had the pleasure of being guests at the Berkshire Arms. The hotel rooms are beautiful and clean. The restaurant food is worth every cent spent. We are planning a visit to England in the New Year and will definitely return to Andreas and Team. Thank you for your nice visit

The food is pretty good, especially the desserts. The turkey is very moist and the crumpet starter is amazing. The staff are friendly but they appear tired and over-worked, misreading what we ordered back to us and slow service. Nice cosy vibes but just expected more. It was the Christmas menu, could have done with Christmas crackers and decorations too. Overall good.

We attended for our work Christmas meal (all 18 of us). The whole event from initial booking to the evening itself was handled with great professionalism and the team were amazing. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to Joshua for the initial communication at the start and James on the night for coordinating everything so well. We would recommend this establishment to anyone for either a small intimate booking to a large company gathering. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Quiet for a Saturday night dine in. Food was ok, bit slow coming out and could tell the chips were cooked first then left as they were warm. Seems to be quite a limited menu to what they've had previously.

Terrible ! Terrible food Terrible service Been told by many people that the food was also horrible but unfortunately, this was after my visit . Will not be going back

Very clean and modern rooms. My only gripe was that the second week, I was in a twin room with single beds, not a double, which was not asked for by my employer, so I shouldn't really complain too much. Breakfast had a good continental selection and cooked breakfast also had a varied selection which the staff were more than happy to tweak to your requirements. I would definitely stay there again and also recommend to friends and family.

I visited the pub a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and especially our bartender Charlie. The food was great and definitely will be coming back again. Highly recommend!!

Had a lovely meal with the kids. Our waiter Charlie was extremely friendly and accommodating, his service was impeccable!! Food was good, highly recommend the mixed grill. Family friendly however not too many young people. Overall pleased. Thank you!

I highly recommend the Berkshire arms!. I love the atmosphere and it’s so easy to get to. The service was great, our orders where taken swiftly and with some great recommendations from Charlie, I had the hunters chicken followed by a lovely sticky toffee pudding. The team were great and I will be back again. 🙂

What an excellent pub!- I’ve passed the Berkshire arms many times before as I work in Newbury and am from Reading but I went in for the first time the other week and was a Pleasantly surprised. My meal came quickly and the bartender Charlie was a very pleasant chap and the reason I wanted to put this review up. Will 100% be back soon and obviously would 100% recommend! 5*

Rooms are nice, no Complaints, warm and clean. Food in pub a bit of a let down... Starter was luke warm at best, the mushrooms and garlic sauce was cold, and a bit watery..... Main better, but still not hot. Unacceptable. Stayed here a few times, but gone downhill. Waitress great, but there was a lot of commotion coming from kitchen, think Chef was having a bad day 🙄. Lot of shouting at staff about lack of chefs...

Went for a quick drink, and the chap that served us, Charlie, was super polite, friendly, and helpful. He recommended some of the dishes, so we'll definitely be back to try the food. Venue is lovely too.

One of my favourite locals. The seasonal menus always have some delicious choices on them.

Today was my 3rd visit here in the last 6months, sadly disappointed today, customer service was lapse, drinks orders came out wrong, wait for our meals was very long, we had to ask for more drinks, when the food came, one of the meals was missing some of the food listed on the menu, had to wait for that, was then charged separately for that, so had to get that sorted, we also had to wait for a long time for our dessert. All in all we were grateful to be in good company, as we were here for 3 hours, which not a problem if service justified that, but absolutely didn't.

Came for Sunday Lunch, both had a lovely roast turkey dinner, what can I say? Cooked to perfection, tasted lovely, enjoyed: is their a BUT coming? sorry yes, the meal was luke warm and within a few mouthfuls the rest had gone cold, sad as mentioned above all cooked nicely, staff friendly, enjoyed a lovely hot pudding, and the price of our drinks where deduced from our bill as an apology. Would eat there again as long as the meal was hot.

Popped in for a coffee purely due to how amazing the place looks from the road! Inside it's gorgeous too, with lovely staff and really good coffee!

We came in for a late Sunday 'lunch' after a long and emotionally exhausting day - we booked a table online for 8:45pm, and honestly it was a relief to find somewhere good still open and serving food at this time on a Sunday! The kitchen had completely run out of roast dinners - understandable given the time, but definitely something we could have been made aware of when we were seated. This minor niggle aside, the food was fantastic and served quickly, and the staff were very friendly as always. My only complaint really is that Ice Breaker isn't on tap anymore - please bring it back! Thanks.

Have now eaten here twice, evening first time and now lunch. Easy location and plenty of parking. A lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. Smooth and friendly service, good food at good prices with ample portion sizes. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will no doubt meet friends here again.

Not my first stay here but definitely my longest! Josh, Tom, James and the rest of the staff all very welcoming and helpful. Food is great and tasty and the rooms are clean and comfy. My only criticism would be from a (long) stay point of view that, if you're on expenses, you can't settle your room tab at the end of your stay leaving me with a lot of receipts to expense! Other than that, wholly recommend 👍

Here to catch up with some old friends for a drink and a meal at lunchtime. Quite busy at 1:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. Food was very tasty and there was enough of it. Service was good, not exceptional but they were attentive. We split the price of the meal 7 ways which caused some confusion but they coped well. Will definitely go back again.

I would have given it a good rating based on the meal last night, and the accessible room, but the breakfast we were promised at 7, ready to be at the racecourse for 8, didn't exist.

Used it for a reception after a funeral. Service Good, food good. Not cheap. Excellent member of staff called Josh who ensured that things went smoothly

Had a dinner for 2. Disappointed, tasted like microwave warmed fish and chips. Greatly overpriced as for 2 simple fish and chips with 1 and a half pint of beer paid £47. We were visiting this pub number of times and it was good but not anymore. Perhaps, change of ownership or cook shef resulted in quality drop with raised prices. Not going there soon unless something changes.

We visited here for breakfast this morning. It was surprisingly disappointing. We have dirty water glasses, waited 35 mins for our breakfast, table of four. The avocado was off, had a bitter twinge, an egg was missing from my breakfast. We had a berry brioche, the little fruit on it was warm. The farmers breakfast was cold. I raised the avocado issue with the lady at the till, she said nothing. Overall very disappointing, will not be returning. Do not recommend.

Stayed overnight for a evening wedding reception at Wasing Park. Ideal location. Really good room. Best sleep ever. Had lunch and breakfast. Cannot fault anything. Shout out to Debbie. Great waitress - served us for lunch and breakfast. Super friendly and great sense of humour.

Me and a friend of mine went for dinner here the other day. Our starters were delicious, mine was recommended to me by our waitress Kim and her recommendation was lovely. Our mains came soon after, overall we didn't wait long for anything. I had the mix grill and it was very nice! The stake was a bit over done for my liking but Kim sorted that, so quickly it didn't leave a dampener on the evening. Our waitress Kim was perfect, a very professional young lady. I'd highly recommend coming here and will definitely come again.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Friendly staff when we were checking in even though it was 1am, breakfast the next day was amazing. Stayed for dinner the following night and the food was to die for. Staff are extremely accommodating, especially including Joseph Emily and James, the friendliest group of people you could meet. Would highly recommend.

tried camembert for the first time and it was beautiful. joseph james and emily were great they had to put up with us on a bank holiday of reading and they were great especially with us drinking. would definitely recommend a stay over at this place :)
