Very nice place, delicious food, professional approach to the customer and a great atmosphere

Quiet for a Saturday night dine in. Food was ok, bit slow coming out and could tell the chips were cooked first then left as they were warm. Seems to be quite a limited menu to what they've had previously.

Terrible ! Terrible food Terrible service Been told by many people that the food was also horrible but unfortunately, this was after my visit . Will not be going back

Very clean and modern rooms. My only gripe was that the second week, I was in a twin room with single beds, not a double, which was not asked for by my employer, so I shouldn't really complain too much. Breakfast had a good continental selection and cooked breakfast also had a varied selection which the staff were more than happy to tweak to your requirements. I would definitely stay there again and also recommend to friends and family.

I highly recommend the Berkshire arms!. I love the atmosphere and it’s so easy to get to. The service was great, our orders where taken swiftly and with some great recommendations from Charlie, I had the hunters chicken followed by a lovely sticky toffee pudding. The team were great and I will be back again. 🙂

Had a lovely meal with the kids. Our waiter Charlie was extremely friendly and accommodating, his service was impeccable!! Food was good, highly recommend the mixed grill. Family friendly however not too many young people. Overall pleased. Thank you!

I visited the pub a few weeks ago with my boyfriend. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and especially our bartender Charlie. The food was great and definitely will be coming back again. Highly recommend!!

What an excellent pub!- I’ve passed the Berkshire arms many times before as I work in Newbury and am from Reading but I went in for the first time the other week and was a Pleasantly surprised. My meal came quickly and the bartender Charlie was a very pleasant chap and the reason I wanted to put this review up. Will 100% be back soon and obviously would 100% recommend! 5*

Rooms are nice, no Complaints, warm and clean. Food in pub a bit of a let down... Starter was luke warm at best, the mushrooms and garlic sauce was cold, and a bit watery..... Main better, but still not hot. Unacceptable. Stayed here a few times, but gone downhill. Waitress great, but there was a lot of commotion coming from kitchen, think Chef was having a bad day 🙄. Lot of shouting at staff about lack of chefs...

Went for a quick drink, and the chap that served us, Charlie, was super polite, friendly, and helpful. He recommended some of the dishes, so we'll definitely be back to try the food. Venue is lovely too.

One of my favourite locals. The seasonal menus always have some delicious choices on them.

Today was my 3rd visit here in the last 6months, sadly disappointed today, customer service was lapse, drinks orders came out wrong, wait for our meals was very long, we had to ask for more drinks, when the food came, one of the meals was missing some of the food listed on the menu, had to wait for that, was then charged separately for that, so had to get that sorted, we also had to wait for a long time for our dessert. All in all we were grateful to be in good company, as we were here for 3 hours, which not a problem if service justified that, but absolutely didn't.

Came for Sunday Lunch, both had a lovely roast turkey dinner, what can I say? Cooked to perfection, tasted lovely, enjoyed: is their a BUT coming? sorry yes, the meal was luke warm and within a few mouthfuls the rest had gone cold, sad as mentioned above all cooked nicely, staff friendly, enjoyed a lovely hot pudding, and the price of our drinks where deduced from our bill as an apology. Would eat there again as long as the meal was hot.

Popped in for a coffee purely due to how amazing the place looks from the road! Inside it's gorgeous too, with lovely staff and really good coffee!

We came in for a late Sunday 'lunch' after a long and emotionally exhausting day - we booked a table online for 8:45pm, and honestly it was a relief to find somewhere good still open and serving food at this time on a Sunday! The kitchen had completely run out of roast dinners - understandable given the time, but definitely something we could have been made aware of when we were seated. This minor niggle aside, the food was fantastic and served quickly, and the staff were very friendly as always. My only complaint really is that Ice Breaker isn't on tap anymore - please bring it back! Thanks.

Just had Sunday Roast for 4 people , best roast we have had. Large portions full of favour. Aimee very good waitress ,good service by all. Will be back.

Rooms are of good standard and the food is excellent. Slightly out of town, but you know that when you book it....

Have now eaten here twice, evening first time and now lunch. Easy location and plenty of parking. A lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. Smooth and friendly service, good food at good prices with ample portion sizes. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will no doubt meet friends here again.

We spontaneously went out for dinner on a Monday evening and the food and service was very good. Lovely pub with character. We were served by Laura who was very attentive.

Not my first stay here but definitely my longest! Josh, Tom, James and the rest of the staff all very welcoming and helpful. Food is great and tasty and the rooms are clean and comfy. My only criticism would be from a (long) stay point of view that, if you're on expenses, you can't settle your room tab at the end of your stay leaving me with a lot of receipts to expense! Other than that, wholly recommend 👍

Here to catch up with some old friends for a drink and a meal at lunchtime. Quite busy at 1:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. Food was very tasty and there was enough of it. Service was good, not exceptional but they were attentive. We split the price of the meal 7 ways which caused some confusion but they coped well. Will definitely go back again.

I would have given it a good rating based on the meal last night, and the accessible room, but the breakfast we were promised at 7, ready to be at the racecourse for 8, didn't exist.

Used it for a reception after a funeral. Service Good, food good. Not cheap. Excellent member of staff called Josh who ensured that things went smoothly

Had a dinner for 2. Disappointed, tasted like microwave warmed fish and chips. Greatly overpriced as for 2 simple fish and chips with 1 and a half pint of beer paid £47. We were visiting this pub number of times and it was good but not anymore. Perhaps, change of ownership or cook shef resulted in quality drop with raised prices. Not going there soon unless something changes.

Amazing service, drinks were brilliant and Joseph was a massive help! I would recommend this pub very much and the waiters are very nice.

We visited here for breakfast this morning. It was surprisingly disappointing. We have dirty water glasses, waited 35 mins for our breakfast, table of four. The avocado was off, had a bitter twinge, an egg was missing from my breakfast. We had a berry brioche, the little fruit on it was warm. The farmers breakfast was cold. I raised the avocado issue with the lady at the till, she said nothing. Overall very disappointing, will not be returning. Do not recommend.

Stayed overnight for a evening wedding reception at Wasing Park. Ideal location. Really good room. Best sleep ever. Had lunch and breakfast. Cannot fault anything. Shout out to Debbie. Great waitress - served us for lunch and breakfast. Super friendly and great sense of humour.

Me and a friend of mine went for dinner here the other day. Our starters were delicious, mine was recommended to me by our waitress Kim and her recommendation was lovely. Our mains came soon after, overall we didn't wait long for anything. I had the mix grill and it was very nice! The stake was a bit over done for my liking but Kim sorted that, so quickly it didn't leave a dampener on the evening. Our waitress Kim was perfect, a very professional young lady. I'd highly recommend coming here and will definitely come again.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Friendly staff when we were checking in even though it was 1am, breakfast the next day was amazing. Stayed for dinner the following night and the food was to die for. Staff are extremely accommodating, especially including Joseph Emily and James, the friendliest group of people you could meet. Would highly recommend.

Initial room was a little noisy but reception readily agreed to move us to a much quieter part of hotel which was ideal. Wonderful location. Very clean with a huge comfy bed.

Ate dinner here, my partner asked for no slaw on his burger but they forgot and it had to be replaced. I ordered a steak and salad and the steak was cooked well but the salad was a bit sad. Service was OK, quite slow and my partner and I ended up eating separately as a result of the error. I think we'd go for an event but not for a meal as it seems to have fallen off in terms of quality.

Hotel wasnt very clean. Food was OK. Staff were great, unfortunately the room was a hot box! It was like walking into a greenhouse. I wouldn't recommend a top floor room in the annex

We we're using the hotel to then go to a wedding, only had breakfast, which was great. Nice size room, clean apart from the shower which needed de-scaling!!

The worst thing about this hotel is the dreadful customer service- so don't expect one. This is the 2nd time my company couldn't put me up at a Holiday Inn and I had to come here. Horrible experience. The girl at Hotel reception has absolutely no idea what a smile looks like let alone customer service. The breakfast is nice, but not if you're in a hurry. You have to wait 10mins to be seated - and then for one lady to take order. Then wait for her to serve everyone- then wait for it to be cooked-

Had a meal here and everything was delicious. You can use Tesco rewards at this Chef and Brewer pub so it's also economical.

My family & I visited earlier this week. We were seated straight away. We waited over half an hour to get served drinks!!!! We then awaited another 10 mins to be asked for our main order. Gentleman on the bar soon realised and was very prompt. The young waitress was absolutely clueless. The kids steak was burnt to a crisp. Inedible. This was a shame as this was a birthday meal. We will not be returning.

Wasn't allowed to leave bags before 14:00hrs even though we explained we were heading straight to a wedding and wouldn't be back until midnight. That to me is bad.

Superb double room. Great quality and service can not be faulted. Highly recommend.

GREAT ! The room is spacious, quiet, well decorated (personalized), the bed is comfortable and large, the bathroom is pretty and functional; everything is very clean! The staff comes every day to empty the trash, make the bed, clean and take care of the towels. There is: ironing board with iron, hair dryer, fan, extra pillows, hygiene product, hot tray and treats, TV, wifi.... In short, very good! If I wanted to be picky: I'm just missing 1 box of tissues! Private parking for the hotel and private parking for the pub/restaurant. Pretty, well-renovated building with beautiful colors, its beams, its corners, its nice decor and its comfortable furniture (velvet sofas, armchairs, etc.). The staff is attentive and very efficient! All polite! The breakfast is ROYAL: a continental self-service AND the à la carte English breakfast! Everything is good, generous and the products are fresh. The restaurant is also very good from meat to fish; a good choice of beers and wines! The service is professional, we enjoyed ourselves every evening of our stay. The location is good, it's the countryside: be careful when going out because at certain times, it's not necessarily easy to get out of the parking lot... I hope I have made you want to come there because we are ready to go there again....

Last Tuesday 14 May we had a meal lunchtime at Berkshire Arms. Firstly the Waitress was very efficient and polite. Service was very quick but one meal was Sausages and Mash which was very disappointing as the sausages in my opinion were cooked and reheated as skins very tough and hard and not enjoyable. We didn’t complain as had Tesco voucher

We stayed at the Berkshire Arms whilst attending a family wedding nearby. We had a delicious lunch on Saturday afternoon where the portions were generous.Our room was modern, clean and spacious and we had a great nights sleep. The staff were super friendly and provided first class customer service. We will certainly be back! A special thanks to Josh and the reception staff for looking after us.

I have the bacon burger and halloumi fries. They were absolutely lovely. Best pub burger in a long time. Excellent service too, shout out to Jenna!

Was told breakfast was served until 9, came down at 8:50 had to wait about 5 minutes to be seen , leading us 8:55 asked for our cooked breakfast. Was told it was too late had to order at 8:45. It doesn’t state this anywhere . Wasted over £20 on a breakfast I didn’t get and wasn’t offered my money back

I travel nationally for my work and have a broad experience of hotels, the length and breadth of the UK. The Berkshire Arms is unquestionably one of the best stays in terms of both hospitality and standard of rooms. The food is incredible - the best of any stay at the price point - the quality belies the affordability. Highly recommended

Very slow service and lots of mistakes made with the food order.

Service poor, food below average but expensive. Was for my 50th birthday, very disappointing.

Friendly staff. No cold water from single combi tap in room. 2 single mattresses together never make a comfortable double.

Didn't stay in hotel, just had lovely tasting pub food, staff friendly, reasonably priced, can be busy due to hotel attached so you might want to book ahead.

Tasty food but arrived after an hour of waiting. TERRIBLE rude staff. AVOID. I notice you respond to reviews that comment negatively about staff as 'oh I hope you are able to give us a second chance' which makes me and other reviewers look like WE are the ones that need to change OUR attitudes? Or like we were having a bad day? How about truly looking at what people are saying and investigate just how your staff are making customers feel. I'm happy to talk to anyone there about my experience and offer YOU advice on how to fix YOUR problem. Please take accountability and not heap it back on customers and potential customers that have to come back and waste more time and money on staff that are unsuitable for their role.

Had a meal here and the food and staff were lovely! However,there was a long wait for the bill and we did have to chase this. Everything else was brilliant! The toilets in particular were very well cleaned. Other than service waiting times, this would he a 5*! Definitely will return soon!

I came here for a meal. I ordered a medium raw steak it was medium well. And then come to pay and they only accept card. Well they had to take my cash as was all I had. Just a heads up if you fancy eating here as wasn't told upon seating it was only when went to payed that was made aware.

Went there for food the staff were good and the food wasn’t bad but they don’t tell you that they don’t accept cash until you ask to settle up. That the causes a problem ant they then expect you to pay extra as they don’t give change. Cash is legal tender so if they are not going to accept it then they need to make it clear on arrival so I can honestly say I won’t be eating there again
