Had a meal here. Steak and Alex pie. Was terrible. Veg was microwaved and got one carrot baton! Peas were dry. Pie needed a chainsaw to get into. Mash was Smash packet rubbish. Overall crap wouldn’t eat here again. Was charged £17.99 for something my ten year old could have made better. Very dissapounting

My partner is local and said she would take me to the nicest pub in the area. She didn’t exaggerate. It’s wonderful. We came twice for dinner. The service was so friendly and efficient, the atmosphere cosy, and the food phenomenal. The shepherds pie was a stand out, fish and chips were good. The beef burger was lovely, the veggie one nice. The bread and butter pudding was innovative and tasty. Not the cheapest but well worth the money for such brilliant experiences. We will be back 😊

Great place to eat, a fairly large family occasion and the food and the staff was equally impressive. Really well prepared food and very attentive staff.....and they have Madri on tap. Had a great night

First time back here in years and it will be the last! Took my mother for a birthday meal and other family members. Our order was taken fairly quickly but after the initial order, not once were we asked for drinks again. It was a hassle getting staffs attention to even get the desert menu. We could have literally walked out without paying and they wouldn't have noticed. Terrible service. The food tasted good but was way overpriced. I had a duck leg burger which was a special for the day and it was £20, it was so small I was left still very hungry. It came with coleslaw but maybe one teaspoon in a tiny shot glass size ramakin. It was not hot at all. The desert looked promising, I had the ripple consisting of Eaton mess, trifle and jam roll polly with a 'jug' of custard. The jug turned out to be another tiny little miniature. I wasn't expecting a whole jug obviously but more than a couple of shots worth! I was hard pressed to find any actual meringue, squirty cream was used where there is normally real cream. The kids ordered ice cream which was somehow melted by the time it got to the table. I'm still shocked they did not ask if everything was OK and offer more drinks! Doubt I'll go back.

Mother's Day menu. 12.30pm Very disappointed. Over cooked Roast Dinners. Potatoes dreadful so hard!! My husband's Roast Pork very tough and either overdone or reheated. My Turkey and veg okay but meal spoilt with soggy Yorkshire pudding and those potatoes!!

Loved the service. Food was well cooked, presented and delicious. Josh the Assistant manager was brilliant and the staff are very pleasant. This venue has positive vibes. Can't go wrong here. Berkshire Arms has a repeat customer.

Had hunters chicken followed by chocolate brownie, both were absolutely delicious. Our servers Josh and Aimee were wonderful. The pub had a really nice atmosphere, lovely polite staff, great food, what more can you want. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and I will return.

The meals are always delicious here, average prices to, staff very friendly and helpful, Joshua was very polite and professional, will visit again soon, James.

Came here a few days ago with some friends. the service by Aimee and Joshua was absolutely delightful. the sirloin I had was perfectly done so massive props to the chef who did that. service was very quick and of very high quality too.

Absolutely gorgeous pub and excellent value for money. The food is lovely and service is very fast. The team are great and very attentive. Beautiful decor throughout making for an all round lovely atmosphere. I have been here many times over the past 15 years and it has definitely reached a noticeably new level of great quality recently. It is clear to see the team have such pride in their work and are motivated to offer the best service possible. Brilliant to see such passion in a thriving country pub again! If you haven't been in a while, you must revisit! If you have never been, then go! Highly recommend!

Stayed for one night and the room was lovely and relaxing and perfect to get a good sleep!! Went for some food and had the pork belly and it was amazing thank you to the head chef rob!!

The pub itself is nice, looks like it may have been re-decorated since the last time i visited a few years ago. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was ok, nothing special.

We went to the Berkshire Arms for lunch on 25th February with our 1 year old. Service for lunch was quick and efficient, food was hot and we weren’t bothered by our server Aimee who always had a smile for us. Pudding took a little longer than expected but that’s the joy of having an over tired 1 year old! It was quiet in the restaurant but it was lovely and warm and service was very efficient and like I say our server Aimee was lovely. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

The duck burger was the best thing I’ve ever tasted please keep it on the menu forever

My family visited to celebrate a Birthday. Wanted to try something abit different to our norm and I must say I’m glad we did. The food was good however the service made it extra special. Our server Charlie went above and beyond. We had our 3 year old grandson with us who was kept entertained with plenty of colouring and was encouraged to pick his own meal as Charlie gave him the time to do so (this is so refreshing). So 5* from us, we will be returning soon. Thank you to you all.

Passed by after viewing a local wedding venue. Took a chance knowing that we would probably need to have a table booked. Greeted by friendly, smiley staff who looked to find us a table. Only a 30-minute wait for a table. The food was lovely, and the atmosphere was great. I am returning again later this year to stay at the hotel. Cannot wait to return 😊

Stayed here for 5 days and I have to say the place was great. Amazing staff the owner was particularly nice. However the waiters and waitresses made my experience that much better would 100% recommend.

Ordered a ribeye steak (medium rare) and it was the worst steak I've even been served. Had to leave 3/4 of it due to not being able to even cut it let alone eat it. The only good thing was that the service from the staff was good. The steak was taken off of the bill and they did apologise. Would not eat here again though.

Valentines dinner the evening was lovely the food was excellent every thing was perfectly cooked and plenty of it would satisfy the biggest appetite. Had a lovely meal here with my daughter and her Nan. The staff where very attentive always making sure we are all ok and looking after us. Food came out very quickly and it was all very tasty!! Shout out to James,Josh and Erin for making us feel very welcome.

Spacious dining area with a good selection of adult & kids dishes including burgers, meats and veggie meals. It was pretty quiet on the day with the service quick and polite. There is also a spacious bar area if it's only drinks you want including non alcoholic choices. Would have been 5 stars but for the tough steak served with the mixed grill

We came here for Sunday lunch recently and really enjoyed it. The pub has a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. We were served by James who was very attentive.

This is the second occasion, that I have visited the Berkshire Arms, and on this second trip, I stayed overnight with my wife. My overall impression is very good. The décor is lovely, and the premises clean. We found the staff very polite, attentive and respectful. They also seemed very cheerful and happy, at their work and worked together well, which is a sign of good management, Absolutely no complaints with the service, or the meals, excellent, and served exactly as requested. We did stay overnight, and were equally impressed by how nice the rooms were, clean and tidy, with a very comfortable bed. We had a very peaceful night, and enjoyed the breakfast the next day too. One nice added touch is that amongst the tea/coffee making items is a small sealed jug, with an invite to take it to the bar for fresh milk, if that was our preference. The Public House is located just off the A4, and not too far from Reading and Newbury, so is in a prime location for meals and accommodation. Normally I can find some fault, even minor at most of the places we have stayed at, but to be perfectly honest, and I state this here. I found it very hard to fault anything. We had a very nice experience, and most certainly will be back. Thank you Berkshire Arms.

My husband and I stayed for one night had an evening meal and breakfast the atmosphere service and dinner were excellent and our room was very clean and having a special container for fresh milk was a lovely touch will definitely revisit very soon

Very Nice food and if it were judged just on the food it was 5 star, unfortunately it was terribly slow. At one point we also had to clear our own table of glasses too. We were prepared for a slower than usual service being a Saturday but it was ridiculous. Arrived at 6pm and didn't leave till 9pm!

Everybody loves the Tally Hoo. Only problem is it gets very busy as the food is very good, the atmosphere is calm and peaceful and the service is excellent.

Visited just after Christmas. It was very cosy and nicely decorated. A nice atmosphere. Took a friend from Brazil to show her a traditional country pub. She loved it. She didn't enjoy her food so much as her steak was tough and her red wine was acrid as it had been open too long. I would have sent it back but she didn't realise it was 'off ' until I tried it before we left. I had the Shepherds pie which had a whole lamb shank in it and was lovely, even though their wasn't much meat on it I enjoyed it. My lime soda was very nice.

Visited on the way to a families house over the festive period. We had a waitress called Melody and she was amazing. She did everything she could to make our visit the best. Went above and beyond for us and made our visit a breeze.

Since the refurb this place has been really good. I’m fussy but find the food is always excellent. Really well done and the service good too.

Last minute drink with the work colleagues was well accommodated by the staff they gave us an area to use and the service and food was excellent, great atmosphere and a great pint of peroni too..

We stopped off here after going to Newbury for a Pantomime. We had an autistic child with us. The waiter offered us a seat in the corner next to a family with a young baby. This made it so much less stressful for us as if our child gets upset we feel awful that we've disrupted other people. So that was appreciated. The food was very good. Our 3 kids are it all. We plan to return without our boys so that we can relax and taste some more dishes. The decoration and atmosphere was perfect for us. We were neverous to try somewhere new. But as I said, I asked to be seated in a corner away from too many people and it was fine, no problem for the waiter and he was very discreet our son didn't notice and was calm. Thanks 👍

Booked for our family Christmas dinner months prior and the last one with the kids together in the same place only to be told that they were no longer doing the festive menu after we sat down and had to ask ourselves.we had booked months prior however there was no email or call letting us know..it took 2 hours to get food that was cold and absolutely disgusting I would never recommend this establishment to anyone and will never return myself.thankyou berkshire arms for ruining our Christmas eve you should be ashamed to serve that food and of your business practices and customer service. if I could give you zero stars I absolutely would

While in England visiting family, we had the pleasure of being guests at the Berkshire Arms. The hotel rooms are beautiful and clean. The restaurant food is worth every cent spent. We are planning a visit to England in the New Year and will definitely return to Andreas and Team. Thank you for your nice visit

The food is pretty good, especially the desserts. The turkey is very moist and the crumpet starter is amazing. The staff are friendly but they appear tired and over-worked, misreading what we ordered back to us and slow service. Nice cosy vibes but just expected more. It was the Christmas menu, could have done with Christmas crackers and decorations too. Overall good.

We attended for our work Christmas meal (all 18 of us). The whole event from initial booking to the evening itself was handled with great professionalism and the team were amazing. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to Joshua for the initial communication at the start and James on the night for coordinating everything so well. We would recommend this establishment to anyone for either a small intimate booking to a large company gathering. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Quiet for a Saturday night dine in. Food was ok, bit slow coming out and could tell the chips were cooked first then left as they were warm. Seems to be quite a limited menu to what they've had previously.

Very clean and modern rooms. My only gripe was that the second week, I was in a twin room with single beds, not a double, which was not asked for by my employer, so I shouldn't really complain too much. Breakfast had a good continental selection and cooked breakfast also had a varied selection which the staff were more than happy to tweak to your requirements. I would definitely stay there again and also recommend to friends and family.
