I would have given it a good rating based on the meal last night, and the accessible room, but the breakfast we were promised at 7, ready to be at the racecourse for 8, didn't exist.

Used it for a reception after a funeral. Service Good, food good. Not cheap. Excellent member of staff called Josh who ensured that things went smoothly

Had a dinner for 2. Disappointed, tasted like microwave warmed fish and chips. Greatly overpriced as for 2 simple fish and chips with 1 and a half pint of beer paid £47. We were visiting this pub number of times and it was good but not anymore. Perhaps, change of ownership or cook shef resulted in quality drop with raised prices. Not going there soon unless something changes.

Amazing service, drinks were brilliant and Joseph was a massive help! I would recommend this pub very much and the waiters are very nice.

We visited here for breakfast this morning. It was surprisingly disappointing. We have dirty water glasses, waited 35 mins for our breakfast, table of four. The avocado was off, had a bitter twinge, an egg was missing from my breakfast. We had a berry brioche, the little fruit on it was warm. The farmers breakfast was cold. I raised the avocado issue with the lady at the till, she said nothing. Overall very disappointing, will not be returning. Do not recommend.

A rather expensive but beautiful roast dinner, my only complaint was the small portion of meat but otherwise a lovely dinner

Stayed overnight for a evening wedding reception at Wasing Park. Ideal location. Really good room. Best sleep ever. Had lunch and breakfast. Cannot fault anything. Shout out to Debbie. Great waitress - served us for lunch and breakfast. Super friendly and great sense of humour.

Me and a friend of mine went for dinner here the other day. Our starters were delicious, mine was recommended to me by our waitress Kim and her recommendation was lovely. Our mains came soon after, overall we didn't wait long for anything. I had the mix grill and it was very nice! The stake was a bit over done for my liking but Kim sorted that, so quickly it didn't leave a dampener on the evening. Our waitress Kim was perfect, a very professional young lady. I'd highly recommend coming here and will definitely come again.

Lovely food at a fantastic price with the weekday offer on. Couldn’t fault it! Served by Kim who was very attentive and made us feel very welcome, will definitely be coming back!

tried camembert for the first time and it was beautiful. joseph james and emily were great they had to put up with us on a bank holiday of reading and they were great especially with us drinking. would definitely recommend a stay over at this place :)

Amazing experience from start to finish. Friendly staff when we were checking in even though it was 1am, breakfast the next day was amazing. Stayed for dinner the following night and the food was to die for. Staff are extremely accommodating, especially including Joseph Emily and James, the friendliest group of people you could meet. Would highly recommend.

Initial room was a little noisy but reception readily agreed to move us to a much quieter part of hotel which was ideal. Wonderful location. Very clean with a huge comfy bed.

Popped in 1 evening and had a very nice experience. Very modern decor pub was busy but was shown to table straight away. Menu looked impressive ordered what we wanted and food arrived in good time and was cooked well. Service was really good especially out waitress Laura and will be coming back soon

Ate dinner here, my partner asked for no slaw on his burger but they forgot and it had to be replaced. I ordered a steak and salad and the steak was cooked well but the salad was a bit sad. Service was OK, quite slow and my partner and I ended up eating separately as a result of the error. I think we'd go for an event but not for a meal as it seems to have fallen off in terms of quality.

Hotel wasnt very clean. Food was OK. Staff were great, unfortunately the room was a hot box! It was like walking into a greenhouse. I wouldn't recommend a top floor room in the annex

We we're using the hotel to then go to a wedding, only had breakfast, which was great. Nice size room, clean apart from the shower which needed de-scaling!!

The worst thing about this hotel is the dreadful customer service- so don't expect one. This is the 2nd time my company couldn't put me up at a Holiday Inn and I had to come here. Horrible experience. The girl at Hotel reception has absolutely no idea what a smile looks like let alone customer service. The breakfast is nice, but not if you're in a hurry. You have to wait 10mins to be seated - and then for one lady to take order. Then wait for her to serve everyone- then wait for it to be cooked-

Came out for my wife's birthday meal, service is friendly and sophisticated, thank you to Monica and Deb for your excellent service 👍🏻, and the food was amazing, I had the Hallabut, was cooked to perfection. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try something different in a pub lunch or dinner 😄

Had a meal here and everything was delicious. You can use Tesco rewards at this Chef and Brewer pub so it's also economical.

My family & I visited earlier this week. We were seated straight away. We waited over half an hour to get served drinks!!!! We then awaited another 10 mins to be asked for our main order. Gentleman on the bar soon realised and was very prompt. The young waitress was absolutely clueless. The kids steak was burnt to a crisp. Inedible. This was a shame as this was a birthday meal. We will not be returning.

Wasn't allowed to leave bags before 14:00hrs even though we explained we were heading straight to a wedding and wouldn't be back until midnight. That to me is bad.

GREAT ! The room is spacious, quiet, well decorated (personalized), the bed is comfortable and large, the bathroom is pretty and functional; everything is very clean! The staff comes every day to empty the trash, make the bed, clean and take care of the towels. There is: ironing board with iron, hair dryer, fan, extra pillows, hygiene product, hot tray and treats, TV, wifi.... In short, very good! If I wanted to be picky: I'm just missing 1 box of tissues! Private parking for the hotel and private parking for the pub/restaurant. Pretty, well-renovated building with beautiful colors, its beams, its corners, its nice decor and its comfortable furniture (velvet sofas, armchairs, etc.). The staff is attentive and very efficient! All polite! The breakfast is ROYAL: a continental self-service AND the à la carte English breakfast! Everything is good, generous and the products are fresh. The restaurant is also very good from meat to fish; a good choice of beers and wines! The service is professional, we enjoyed ourselves every evening of our stay. The location is good, it's the countryside: be careful when going out because at certain times, it's not necessarily easy to get out of the parking lot... I hope I have made you want to come there because we are ready to go there again....

Last Tuesday 14 May we had a meal lunchtime at Berkshire Arms. Firstly the Waitress was very efficient and polite. Service was very quick but one meal was Sausages and Mash which was very disappointing as the sausages in my opinion were cooked and reheated as skins very tough and hard and not enjoyable. We didn’t complain as had Tesco voucher

We stayed at the Berkshire Arms whilst attending a family wedding nearby. We had a delicious lunch on Saturday afternoon where the portions were generous.Our room was modern, clean and spacious and we had a great nights sleep. The staff were super friendly and provided first class customer service. We will certainly be back! A special thanks to Josh and the reception staff for looking after us.

Was told breakfast was served until 9, came down at 8:50 had to wait about 5 minutes to be seen , leading us 8:55 asked for our cooked breakfast. Was told it was too late had to order at 8:45. It doesn’t state this anywhere . Wasted over £20 on a breakfast I didn’t get and wasn’t offered my money back

I travel nationally for my work and have a broad experience of hotels, the length and breadth of the UK. The Berkshire Arms is unquestionably one of the best stays in terms of both hospitality and standard of rooms. The food is incredible - the best of any stay at the price point - the quality belies the affordability. Highly recommended

Very slow service and lots of mistakes made with the food order.

Didn't stay in hotel, just had lovely tasting pub food, staff friendly, reasonably priced, can be busy due to hotel attached so you might want to book ahead.

Tasty food but arrived after an hour of waiting. TERRIBLE rude staff. AVOID. I notice you respond to reviews that comment negatively about staff as 'oh I hope you are able to give us a second chance' which makes me and other reviewers look like WE are the ones that need to change OUR attitudes? Or like we were having a bad day? How about truly looking at what people are saying and investigate just how your staff are making customers feel. I'm happy to talk to anyone there about my experience and offer YOU advice on how to fix YOUR problem. Please take accountability and not heap it back on customers and potential customers that have to come back and waste more time and money on staff that are unsuitable for their role.

Had a meal here and the food and staff were lovely! However,there was a long wait for the bill and we did have to chase this. Everything else was brilliant! The toilets in particular were very well cleaned. Other than service waiting times, this would he a 5*! Definitely will return soon!

I came here for a meal. I ordered a medium raw steak it was medium well. And then come to pay and they only accept card. Well they had to take my cash as was all I had. Just a heads up if you fancy eating here as wasn't told upon seating it was only when went to payed that was made aware.

Went there for food the staff were good and the food wasn’t bad but they don’t tell you that they don’t accept cash until you ask to settle up. That the causes a problem ant they then expect you to pay extra as they don’t give change. Cash is legal tender so if they are not going to accept it then they need to make it clear on arrival so I can honestly say I won’t be eating there again

Went for dinner on a Sunday evening a few weeks ago and the service and food were great. We were seated and served quickly, with all of the food options still available. The food arrived quickly which is always a bonus when you have a toddler and was delicious. Thank you to James and Laura for looking after us, we will definitely be back! (Can’t comment on the rooms as didn’t stay)

Came here a couple nights whilst away on my own for work. Really polite, friendly and attentive staff, particularly restaurant side a young man and lady with glasses. Food was great, really nice atmosphere and decor. Will definitely come again!

Me and my partner had dinner here this evening I had a pork roast and he had a burger and chips the food was amazing I cleaned my plate the service was quick and all employees were polite our waiter was Josh and his customer service was amazing

The food was not the best I've ordered roast beef was very chewy, some of the vegetables was burnt and roast potatoes was not freshly cooked. We've asked for tap water 3 times and it was only served after 30 minutes & the waitress said that they were under staff. I've ordered for dessert the Apple Bramley Tart unfortunately it was under cooked and taste awful and my husband ordered the Bakewell Tart and he said the same thing it was also under cooked. As for the service- they had two waiters who was very busy and a young waitress who is very lazy and doesn't know what she's doing. My overall experience was not very satisfying therefore I will not recommend this pub to all my family and friends.

Enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch in the pub on Christmas Day. Person with limited mobility and large dog both accommodated for really well. The dog was spoilt, receiving her own plate of turkey. The lunch was fantastic - huge portions and extremely tasty. Very glad to have booked - it suited us perfectly. Thank you!

Roast turkey, roast beef meals very poor turkey was like frozen meat, beef very rubbery, Korean dishes full of chilli, prawn starter very nice, manage did not change for mains

stay for the night with a meal in the restaurant, I have stayed here before but the rooms have been upgraded and and are warm and cosy and the checking in was fast and friendly, great job, they have a large free car park and its safe and secure, The Restaurant is really cute and the food is well cooked and proportioned, and the table service is excellent and prompt, our server was Joshua and what a complete asset he is to the Chef and Brewer Chain, polite, happy in his work and nothing is too much trouble , I will be back

Stayed at the Berkshire Arms for a course locally over a few days and found it very comfy to stay at. Only had a meal one night at the hotel and found it to be generous and tasty. Staff welcoming and helpful. I would recommend.

Good pub with well priced food . The one problem is when you order a drink before it is poured they want the money. This must be a Chef and Brewer policy every where else you order a drink it is poured and served to you then you pay for it that is the way to do it

Went for lunch today with a client. First time I’ve been and will be definitely going back. Lovely and spacious inside and nice cosy fire. Good menu and reasonably priced. Did have a table booked for 12 and had to wait a few minutes before anyone greeted/served me but won’t take marks off for that. Thanks!

,we came here for a late Sunday roast, the older First Lady we spoke with was amazing and made us very welcomed and comfortable, we started off with drinks in the lounge area before going to the restaurant most of our servers were great, the server Daniel ruined the whole experience at Berkshire arms , he was very short with us and even when it was time to close at 10.30 with others still there with full drinks he advised us they were shutting we felt targeted as other patrons were still in there drinks full pints etc but we were asked to go by him. Daniel ruined our experience and really let the whole team down as he never once smiled or felt welcoming, 5 stars to all other staff on Sunday evening

We came here for a pre-wedding gathering for the night before our wedding. We went for the Indian buffet option which went down very well with our guests. The food was delicious. We were very grateful for the complimentary bottle of Prosecco. A massive shout out to Maria who was fantastic throughout the process and on the night. Thanks very much Berkshire Arms!!

Stayed in the hotel here like I have done many times. At 2am there was a knock on my door from a male voice shouting housekeeping and then my door opened. I shot out of bed to see someone walking into my room. I shouted get out at as they quickly turned round and ran away. I went to reception only for them to tell me that none of this was at all possible and I must have been dreaming. Due to their poor attitude and lack of care I have had to get the police involved. This is not a safe hotel to stay. Avoid at all costs

Wonderful lunch experience every time we go!

I can't comment on the rooms, as we went for lunch, there were 4 of us, all had different meals, and all had empty plates at the end. Very tasty and great service, Debbie was our waitress, very efficient and friendly.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Berkshire Arms this afternoon. Daniel was very helpful and his service was excellent - especially for all 10 of our requests! We were also very grateful for them squeezing us in on such a popular Sunday for bookings.
