Went in after Saturdays football match and was served such great food. It wasn't your usual sausage and chips, this was much classier food. 👍🍲

Took Mrs B here for Sunday Lunch. There is a huge terrace outside, which overlooks the valley. On a sunny day it's a great place for a drink. We ate lunch in the restaurant. Mushrooms on sourdough + Halloumi fries to start, followed by an excellent carvery. Absolutely stuffed afterwards. Great Lunch I would highly recommend.

Food is good. Just a shame that having been coming here on and off for many years I'm not trusted to have a tab. It us a bit insulting to have to pay for each drink and each course as it comes. And the garden does attract some pretty feral and uncontrollable children...

Loved it here and will definitely go back. The building is historic and well kept. The food and drinks were lovely and well priced. Portions were generous. Service was good. We visited on a Wednesday night and were glad we'd booked because it was busy- bustling but not manic. They have a doggie 🐕 menu so one of our next visits will be with our dog. They gave us an after dinner mint - I don't think enough places do that anymore! The car park was pretty full when we got there but it does exist and they've fitted a good amount of spaces in it for the area they have. It's a long walk but doable for us so we'll probably walk it in future to save risking getting a spot. I didn't realise what a nice outdoor seating area they had until I left and it has a lovely view. They advertised free, regular music, comedy and quiz nights (I love that quiz winners can select a charity of their choice to donate to). Highly recommend it here.

Brillant roast dinner and even Billy got his own roast dinner. He had a slice of each meat and cut up into pieces, a couple of roast potatoes and some carrots with gravy. The fish was so fresh. It was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips. My friend had had ham egg and chips. Unfortunately the eggs were swimming in oil. Also had a dessert : Eton Mess. It was delicious. As I couldn't find any raspberries I assumed the strawberries were substituted. Sweet and wholesome. Good service if a bit slow. The one downside was all the steps: three at the entrance, and two steps at all the different levels inside.

Went to the pub as it was a easy meet up for a spread out geographically family meal... First impression of the pub was it felt cosy, and warm, greeted by a lovely lady who showed us to our rebooked table.... As we had a toddler who are impatient for food at the best of times, got his ordered and cooked and served before we had decided on our meals. That kept him busy, along with colouring pencils and paper they supplied. The food we had was excellent, everyone enjoyed the grub, and as much as we wanted to was unable to order from the desert menu as we were full.... We weren't rushed, the waiting staff were attentive, and we had a really good time there... Would we go again.... Yes...

Absolutely awful service! Perhaps a bit racist? Visited here to have dinner with the Mrs and our dog. We chose this pub after reading good reviews and that it was dog friendly. One review even said that dogs could be off lead. We even booked a table. Upon entry, we were greeted with a young lady who for some reason, took an instant dislike to us. No offer of drinks, just gave us the menu. My wife asked if our dog could be off lead and was abruptly told "NO". The way we were spoken to left a bitter taste in our mouth and so we decided to leave. As we were leaving, the same young lady in a sarcastic tone said "bye guys". Not a care in the world that we had only been there for 5 minutes and decided to leave without asking why. Being of Indian decent and my wife being Polish, we couldn't help but feel that we were being discriminated against, especially since the lady was treating others completely different to us. I could be wrong in my review but we will never be visiting here again.

The staff (Danielle & Charlotte) were very attentive and very polite. The food was delicious. I used to go here all the time and it did hands down the best Carvery I've ever had. However, they've recently changed hands and it can only be described as a catastrophic fall from grace. One of the biggest draws was being able to eat outside on the decking with an amazing view. They are now very strict in refusing to allow anyone to eat outside anymore, to the point of rudeness. The carvery itself is now gone, along with any real choice on what you want. Gone are the days of being able to load up on cauliflower cheese and parsnips. Instead, it's now a standard roast dinner, with an anemic amount of gravy, no parsnips, a tiny portion of beans, and about a half plate of mashed carrots. The meat, formerly lovingly prepared, is now dry like old leather. Even more sadly, you now pay more for a worse meal. Your average Greene King will provide better food for cheaper now. The charm of the place, mostly provided by being able to enjoy the sunshine while you eat, is sadly gone. Overall, a real shame. It used to be one of our absolute favourite places to go, but now I couldn't recommend it to anyone.

Use to really enjoy this pub, but visited the other day and told can’t have food outside due to shortage of kitchen staff. I was fine with this as appreciate staff would have had to keep walking out to serve food. Went indoors where I seated by a table where I sat with the previous week for lunch. I was with my wife and our little one who was in a pram. Then told we had to sit in the restaurant area despite being a stone throw away and had to lug the pram up into the restaurant area. Ordered food and the lady said it doesn’t come with chips despite it being clearly on the menu. Then a very noisy barking dog upstairs barked throughout the whole lunch. I love this pub as it has some of the best views, but I felt it was a bit annoying having to lug a pram around when the distance between seating area and restaurant was less than 10 yards.

What a shame. A beautiful May walk along the escapement with its vast views of Kent, Linton House park, fields overflowing with wild flowers and orchards bursting with apple blossom. And then the four of us and dog stopped in here for a late Sunday lunch. We were to be fair warmly welcomed and served with a smile but the restaurant was weirdly for such a fine sunny day. Now we know! Our orders were taken promptly without a word of any warning that there might be any delay. We waited and waited. After 45 mins, at least, we asked and were told we were next up for plating. 10-15 mins later a nearby couple were served and it must have been a minimum of 15 minutes that 3 of us were served, a third 5 later got her salad! No effort was made to explain or apologise and when we paid and left again not a word, not even to ask what we thought. Presumably a staff shortage problem but with no communication it is difficult to have any sympathy. My meal of scampi and chips were tepid. Others OK, just but nothing to rave about. Hate to be so negative but please owners/managers up your game. We will not be back.

A disappointing time last Saturday. Expected so much more. Be warned, they cancel events without warning, and when asked about it, offer "prosecco" fail to answer the phone and fail to provide the experience paid for. Which in my opinion wasn't cheap. Had I known the entertainment was changed to a very different, white Bob Marley singer, I'd have changed my plans, and gone elsewhere... It's probably a great venue on a good day. This was not it.
