ordered the home made pie, new potatoes and green beans. The new potatoes were raw and not cooked although apparently the kitchen staff insisted they were cooked!!! So I felt like they were calling me a liar and I felt very offended by that. Not being able to stick your fork in them was one give away Veg were also very al dente. Surely a chef should be able to get the most basic thing as cooking potatoes and veg right. They did replace the potatoes with herbie fries, and the pie was okay, but rather on the large side. However just pie and fried potatoes was not appetising, and I couldn't eat it. So a waste of £14.50. Wont go back i'm afraid

I gave the review 2 stars because the meal was nice. The service was absolutely horrendous. We waited over 15 minutes for drinks and 2 of them arrived in bottles with no glasses. I asked for glasses and ice and the girl l asked stopped and chatted to another server (who was wrapping up cutlery in napkins) before slowly getting the glasses and then forgetting ice and going back. I asked her what took so long and she laughed at me and said she had to reach and get glasses off the shelf. I couldn’t believe that servers were sitting around putting stuff in napkins when us and others needed serving. There was no salt and pepper on the table and we had to ask for ketchup. It’s a lovely place, but the kids running it tonight have no initiative whatsoever and don’t know how to treat guests. Very disappointing

Very disappointed with the breakfast. Ordered one large and one normal size. Large one was missing eggs and the normal had black pudding at a extra cost that wasn't ordered. Also we ordered two hash brown that arrived about 10min after we got are food. Tinned mushrooms on a large breakfast at £11 is absolutely wrong also. Can't wait for the cottage to reopen.

Nice place with a relaxed vibe and I was expecting great things! Ordered the double bacon and cheese burger it came out on a dry bun! No salad or sauce just meat and bread and it absolutely cremated and tasted vile! I tried to eat it but couldn't stomach it! Such a shame! If they invested in a few decent chefs this place would be great it has the potential! To burn a burger like that and send it is insane

After walking our dogs nearby, decided to drop in for a quick drink with the wife. As we had the two dogs with us, on getting to the doorway, I asked the barmaid if it was ok to come in with them - it seems she was far too busy with a magic card trick to bother with us and it was actually a local guy who said all was good! The place was basically empty so we could sit where we wanted. Got served by a very nice lady who came through from the back bar, she obviously didn’t want to disturb David Nixon’s protege! Had the beer but only stayed for one to get home for the England game - so gathered up the dogs, glasses and crisp packets to take back to the bar to save someone a job. Said goodbye and thank you, not even a response at all from the pseudo magician - not sure I’ll be back with this attitude.

Been a while since we been here but 6 of us went and got to say food was excellent I had carvery which was excellent other people had the carvery and steak and ale pie and chicken burger all excellent. Very friendly place drinks of good quality service from staff excellent though out meal brilliant pudding was excellent got to say definitely will be returning here

Not impressed with the food or the prices £14.50 for sausage and mash, mediocre sausage veg tasted of mint I prefer my sausage and mash to taste like sausage and mash not mint sauce, my wife had liver and bacon and also complained about the strange unappetizing taste of mint in her veg this meal I feel was overpriced too at £15.50 and liver was overcooked and hard needless to say we won't be arnold swarsenigger we won't be back

Came for a celebration dinner with family the table was ready for us when we arrived and the service was fast and friendly. We ordered a variety of foods from the menu including vegan and gluten free which was easily accommodated. Food was fresh and delicious and we all had an amazing time we will definitely be returning soon.

Lovely staff lovely food all over a great experience me and the family loved it the food was to die for and the person on the carvery was warm and inviting we felt all over satisfied with our experience will definitely come again.

The menu is quite extensive offering a range of types of food from pub grub to ethnic dishes. Prices are very good. Food came quite quickly and was all enjoyed. The faggots were 'real' - which is amazing these days. Happily made slight adjustments to suit our tastes. Decent space. Will happily return

Had often driven past here and decided to go in for a drink. Never again!!! This is obviously a place filled with locals who looked at us as though we were aliens and the person who served us who we found out was the landlady was just rude and unfriendly.

Not been before but drive past often to go elsewhere so thought we'd give it a try as always looks busy. It's not the most relaxing place to eat, like a large cafe, people packed in and very cheap looking restaurant. The food was edible but could definitely tell it wasn't home made or quality ingredients. Must say though the staff were very pleasant. Popped outside to see the animals and was saddened to see the state the poor guinea pigs are living in. Dirty, damp,dark outdoor enclosure with very little straw/hay. Will carry onto the pub a little further down in future.

Went for Christmas dinner with my husband and kids. Starters were served to the table, and the main course was carvery. Was told by our waitress to go up for carvery food whenever we were ready, only to be chastised by a random person who we thought was another customer (turns out it was the landlady) when queuing for our food! Apparently it wasn’t our turn, and another table had a large party that all needed to eat at the same time as each other and then let the other table push in front of us. Even though we were told to go whenever we wanted! And apparently we were meant to be eating sorbet before getting our carvery! Don’t even like sorbet! Food was mediocre and hugely overpriced. After being told off, suddenly didn’t feel hungry anymore and the whole thing spoilt our Christmas dinner (it’s ok though - it happens once a year, so only another 366 days till next Christmas). Won’t be going back again, ever.

I have been here before for the festive menu and always had mixed thoughts about it , however today it was excellent the meal was piping hot , very tasty and great value for money . The only negative was it was cold in there . The waitress was so helpful and professional . Thank you so much for a lovely time today and will look forward to my next visit in the new year . Having never visited this place, thought it would be great, unfortunately the place wasn't the best, staff didn't acknowledge us when we came in, chef doing the carvery looked like he'd come from the hood, food was ordered, 3 had the carvery, which wasn't a carvery as you don't help yourself, 2 had of the menu,which they had a good 5 minutes before our carvery came out, veg was mush, meat was ok, gravy was like dishwater, thin and watery,only thing that was good was the dessert, next time will be back to the Red lion around the corner..bull and Butcher needs a spruce up, maybe a uniform for the staff, instead of staff having the t**ts out..wouldn't recommend to my family or friends.

If I'm honest I'm struggling to find anything to moan about, being really picky, I had a mixed ploughman's, which was superb, but it was on the verge of eating dry, needed tomato and more cucumber in the salad and two little pots of pickle and coleslaw wasn't really enough for the dish. The pub itself is lovely, set in a small village near Coventry, restaurant is spacious and could accommodate our party of 8 with ease. Staff are really friendly and polite and will try to help out whenever they can, food is excellent, you have a varied choice of meals and sizes, fish n chips, lasagne, chilli, salads etc large or small which is great if you have someone who isn't that hungry. Out of 8 plates there was just a few chips returned. There was a fair selection of deserts to choose from but alas no cheese and biscuits (to be fair the chap taking the orders he did ask but they had no biscuits). They had a good selection of beers and lagers to choose from so I had another pint. Overall it was a very enjoyable night out with the family, and we shall definitely be returning for another meal.

Amazing staff, polite and willing to help with anything. Amazing food, huge portion sizes. Amazing atmosphere. Overall a beautiful pub that caters for every family member, esp the kids. X well done guys and thank you X

We visited to celebrate our cousin's recovery from cancer. We usually have good meals here, but last night was the exception. Three orders arrived with mushy peas when garden peas were ordered, one dish arrived with chips when new potatoes were ordered. My sister ordered lasagne which was basically overcooked stodgy pasta sheets with cheese on top and bechemel sauce between the layers- no bolognaise sauce at all- and microwaved melted cheese on top. She could not eat it and sent it back. A replacement meal was offered but she declined the offer. My fillet steak was beautifully cooked,but the chips, mushrooms and tomatoes were cold and it took four requests for the pepper sauce to arrive. Two guests had the minted lamb pie and were very pleased with their choices. The puddings however were excellent and generous. We've been eating here for well over twenty years- last night we were so very disappointed. We do plan to try the Bull and Butcher again ; hopefully this is a one off departure from their usual good food.

We found a table in the snug, as we had a dog with us. We decided on a mixed ploughman's of meat & cheese and a meat ploughmans. When they arrived, I had to go hunting for cutlery and then butter. Both were very nice, perhaps a larger piece of baguette. We ordered desserts, again very nice. The thing that put us off were the unwelcoming locals, we found their language and attitudes towards women unpalatable and rude.
