Not only is the food tasteless but it is vastly overpriced. 2 starters, 2 mains (no rice etc) and 2 small drinks - £96! Not only that but they tried to charge me for a dish that I sent back, virtually untouched. They also charged for covers, added 12.5% service charge and wanted a tip! Not good.

During a recent tour of London, our party of six (five 55+ adults and one 12YO male) decided to stop here for lunch. Since it was quite chilly that day (40 F and windy), we were wearing coats, sweaters, and nice jeans. Upon entering, the maitre d'\manager (I assume) made a comment to the effect of “Well, you certainly seem to have dressed warm today”. Maybe it was an attempt at humor, but it wasn’t exactly a friendly greeting. Seeing that the restaurant only had a party of five and a party of two seated, we asked if a table was available. Maitre d'\manager’s response was “Do you have a reservation?” Obviously not, or we would have said that when we entered. He said he’d see what was available, walked away, came back a few minutes later and asked a waitress to seat us at a table that was already set for six. The food (sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, chicken noodles, Szechuan beef, egg fried rice, white rice) was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was attentive, polite and gave us time to savor our meal. Meanwhile, the maitre d'\manager never once checked on us. He did, however, take the time to seat, take the order of and personally serve two young ladies seated directly across from our table who ordered Afternoon Tea. I also observed that at no time during our meal did the restaurant have more than a dozen patrons, including our party, and many were dressed in the same manner that we were. I’ve read this is supposed to be one of London’s best Asian restaurants. That’s certainly true from a food perspective. Unfortunately, some the staff’s attitude distracts from that.

Thai Chinese should not ever be served like this. Looked ok but so bland. We shared ribs in Chinese bbq sauce. Meat was tender but the sauce was lacking flavour. The mains arrived and we barely touched them. Again bland flavours. I understand other people’s comments regarding the decor. Works well for breakfast though, which was very good.

We’ve been going to Bugi’s street for over 10 years. Moving to a new venue was unavoidable considering the other venue you were not allowed to open. I don’t mind that. However the decor has changed and the feel of Kopi Tiam has gone. That I can also just about take. But the quality of food has suffered and this is not acceptable. We always order char kway tiau and chicken rice. The amount of chicken has reduced in half and the price has doubled. Kway tiau noodles was more pad Thai noodles. I could have just gotten pad Thai for half the price somewhere else. Disappointed and prob won’t be going back unfortunately. Shame as the service and staff is as nice as ever.

IThis is actually a double review, went with my wife and son then as the experience was so good went with another 4 members of the extended family mid November On both occasions the food was brilliant. That may surprise some as both times were a Sunday late afternoon / early evening THe one disappointment was that they didn't have the full range of beers available from the menu on either occasion so should improve that, but the food is simply excellent. Over the last twenty years I have visited from time to time, it never disappoints, my wife loves it and she grew up in Singapore so I consider her a good judge Definitely more Asian people in there than European on most visits, which you can read into what you wish, I wouldn't look for English food in Asia, but maybe home style food is what people need My family and I really like Bugis Street and have done for years, it is a top quality, good value restaurant, despite being in the heart of Kensington Having been fed successfully there over the twenty years I mentioned, I really cannot understand any negative reviews, these guys are consistent and top quality

We have been customers for the last 10 years. Even during the pandemic whenever allowed we have continued to eat there. But what have you done??????!!!!! Completely ruined it by moving to the other end of the street. Now it’s devoid of atmosphere and food prices have gone up 50%. Used to be like going home whenever we eat there but now it’s a soulless experience. Stripped of all the decor that made you feel you were in a Kopitiam. Only good thing left are the staff who are friendly and attentive. Bad decision.

I was impressed at the speed with which dishes arrived - though my friends did start ordering a few minutes before I got to the table - and the tables were generally big enough to have an array of dishes on without taking over! The Chinese New Year menu had some great dishes e.g. mushroom the moss looked like "hairball from a drain plug" (''~) BUT standout was the Hainanese(?) chicken with rice & garlic dip!! I opted to have Pu'reh tea because it seems more appropriate than a glass of wine etc. Very pleasant décor which gives character but doesn't distract from the food.

There aren’t many Singaporean restaurants in London so we were keen to try Bugis Street. The food is good, although the menu includes a lot of more Chinese and even some Sechuan options and there were a lot of Singaporean classics that weren’t on the menu unfortunately. Service is friendly and helpful. It is however clearly a hotel restaurant and that is obvious from the size and decor: it’s quite empty and not the warmest of atmospheres.

Well cooked and presented and it tasted wonderful. I will definitely return and I have recommended the restaurant already to family and friends. The restaurant is in a square room in the Millennium hotel and had the feeling of a canteen, very spartan. Service was professional and rather brusque. Tofu satay was light and lots of satay sauce and mixed fried vegetables not at all greasy. Seasoning too subtle so not much flavour. Not a place to linger but probably ideal for the hotel guests prior to evening out. If you're in the area fine for quick meal but not worth a detour. Low point is bottled beer at £5! Two beers and three plates at £42 not a bargain and considerably more than it would be in the actual Bugis street.

Booked a table for 6 people on OpenTable, inc. for 10pm on Tuesday 21st Nov. Turned up with my party only to be confronted with a closed restaurant and no immediate explanation.
