Bryson's Bakery, Kirkby Stephen Shop in Eden

I don’t think I’ve ever paid so much for a sausage and a bacon sandwich, they are charging sit in restaurant prices. The bacon was pre-cooked, cold and tough, the bread buns were dry, quickly buttered on one side like in a catering trailer, but your paying restaurant prices couldn’t even be bothered to butter both sides, I say butter it was cheap bright yellow margarine. The bread buns were clearly the days before the sausages were tasteless. All was cold, was fuming we had left in the car otherwise Id have dumped them back on the counter, just ate a bit as starving and left the rest

Visited Bryson’s. As I entered shop I was greeted by lovely lady who was helpfully and friendly whilst describing sandwiches available etc. I was waiting for my wife when she arrived we we’re actually served by male member of staff who was unfriendly, abrupt and condescending in complete contrast to his colleague and everybody else we met whilst staying in Kirkby Stephen. His customer relation skills alone would be enough to prevent me visiting shop again in future.

The black currant pie is absolutely amazing. But the crust is so soft it just broke in the middle Their victoria cake is just alright.

Passing bye at lunch today (Appleby) purchase a sandwich and cup of tea, served by a lovely lady think she may have been Spanish, she was smiling, friendly and polite, she even squeezed the teabag out for me, usually it gets left in when you buy a tea to take away. All in all very good.

Visited today with my elderly parents and granddaughter. Customer service was appalling. Female staff was rude, unhelpful and unpleasant. Food was pretty good but I will never set foot in again.

Nice food but I almost forgot to pay for my can of coke, which I think upset them as when I came out my Viennese whirl was all squashed.

Unfortunately, the bacon on the breakfast barm was overcooked and hard and very dry. I purchased this 40 mins before returning to the store at 11.00 am. to ask for a refund as I had to drive back from work. The staff in store accused me of purchasing the food hours earlier at "8am." But i didn't get out of bed until 9.15! Plus, my bank notification said the time of purchase. I was shocked at the level of customer service offered and will never go again. After reading reviews, it seems the problem is the male.

Visited today, lovely cakes and pastries, jams, honey and preserves. It's a shame the male server was very rude and condescending.when asked about the different jars of!honeys.

Worse pues ever had…dry stuck in foil hardly any meat or gravy binned waste money not the cheapest either

Pasties and pies were nice and offered warm. Sandwich was made by the guy without gloves after handling money? Yuck. The same male was very rude, with an aggressive tone and muttering to colleagues when he recieved a similar tone back. A shame really as the ladies also serving seemed friendly.

Stop off for Sausage Barm earlier today. Wow, amazing. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. I strongly recommend you give it a try when next passing through.

Called in on 27th for a quick bite & a hot drink, consisting of a hot steak bake, a latte & a hot chocolate, really fancied extras so ordered cream & marshmallows then realised there was a £1 charge for it, most cafes don’t charge that much, it was nice, very rich but I’d think twice about purchasing again, our last visit was Nov 19 when I was charged an extra 50p for a seeded bun, won’t be rushing back!

Proper place to get a proper sandwich, along with nearly every type of sweet you can imagine. You haven't been to KS until you have been to Brysons

Food generally good here, but service can often be abrupt. But today …well! Our hot pies were hot on the lid and stone cold inside. I returned and asked politely if they could be microwaved, only to be given a lecture on why they are always cold at the bottom due to them being in tin foil. I persevered , they were re heated and came out just the right temperature to be described as a hot pie. But… whilst I was in the shop, one of the assistants pulled her mask down, sneezed 🤧 into her hand, put her mask back and then continued to serve customers 🤢 You can be sure we won’t be going there again

Stopped a few times on bike rides - always a superb pastry & hot sandwich selections. Always service with a smile too. Recommended

We called by this bakery on our way to a holiday cottage in the Yorkshire Dales and were so pleased with the bread and cakes that we called on our way back. The lady who served us was very polite and friendly but this time we were served by a gentleman who did not make us feel at all welcome and was really quite rude. I wanted to pay in cash but he asked for card which was fine but made some clever comment about a twenty pound note on a Saturday morning that was quite upsetting and so unnecessary. So much for customer service.

Lovely little bakery for a pit stop. Felt a bit rushed to order, not given much time to have a look. Sandwiches are nice and fresh, pastries are nice and tasty.

Good Covid security and a friendly welcome. They have a large selection of traditional cakes and pastries. Prices are really quite expensive.

Called in here to get some cakes to take with us on our 2 hour journey home after a week away in the lake district. The chocolate brownie and caramel shortcake were immense and the best we have had all week and we have had some good ones.

Male staff member offhand . Requested an eccles cake, to be informed they only stock vegan ?? Wife was willing to try but threw it way as it was over spiced with cinnamon, I presume to give it some taste..

Brysons had an dizzying amount of choice for both immediate eating and taking away for later, pretty much anything you can imagine a bakery having they had. The service was fast and very pleasant.

We stopped in the morning for 2 x sausage rolls and 2 x coffees. £10.95 later we were on our way! The food and drink was nothing special. We definitely will not return at those prices, pure greed. Greggs offer a sausage roll and coffee for £2.00. Never again will we stop at this bakers in Kirby Stephen

Brysons Bakery in Kirkby Stephen is a traditional bakers that stocks a very good range of breads, cakes and savoury products. I also really like the fact that some of their goods are traditional, local specialities that you wouldn’t find elsewhere. Great to see, and so important in keeping traditional recipes alive.

On our way to see friends but hunger pangs meant a delay, the shop is situated on the main street, really clean with lots of choice, not only of sarnies (freshly made) & pies/pasties but lots of local produce for sale too. Ordered a tuna mayonnaise with red onion it was gorgeous, lots of gilling, requested a seeded bun which had an additional charge of 50p which seemed steep, 20p would’ve been a bit more reasonable. Nice place, lovely produce! Oh, if you take your own mug you get money off your hot drinks too!

Awesome. I definitely recommend their jacket potatoes which come with salad and coleslaw - the prawn with marie rose sauce was delicious. Good prices. They even have vegan sausage rolls! Staff were polite and helpful.

Amazing service. Amazing food. Very knowledgable about all there products. Great selection of things available. Specials changed daily and really good on price was very impressed and went 4 times while we were near by last week. Staff very welcoming.

I’ve been in before and was beautiful but called in Saturday for two sarnies approx £7 which seemed pricey but we only get what you pay for I suppose, but I didn’t really think about it until I left the prawns were just on the top and not kept in a fridge so I didn’t eat the sarnie

Very good bakery. They do hot sandwiches early morning which are good. Delicious freshly baked bread and cakes. It can be a little expensive (not sandwiches) but you certainly get what you pay for. Staff are always very welcoming and helpful.

Unwelcoming. Had a pork pie and threw it away. All pie very little pork.

Had a gorgeous fresh cream chocolate eclair here whilst on a mini break for a couple of days :-) x

Called in for a cake for our tea and there was so much to choose from we left with a few more than we should of. Staff very nice and chatty. Love to visit here when we on holiday at Kirkby Stephen

I have a great jacket potato with salad and ham. My mate had a traditional pastie that had just come out of the oven.

Great bakery! I go here weekly for a sandwich and caramel tiffin, really friendly staff and great service, food is very fresh and tasty. Highly recommend for a quick lunch and all your bakery needs.

Lovely fresh breads and cakes with a good selection of pasties which are really tasty. They have a good salad bar with filling to make sandwiches and salad boxes to order. Lovely friendly staff.

Great and best of all, open most days at 7:00 for quick breakfast and a custom fresh sandwich for the walk.

Popped in for coffee and cake. 3 staff all well presented, very friendly and pleasant. Delicious selection of fresh cakes and hot pies. Appears to be very clean and tidy. I will be deffo going again to try their home made lasagne and freshly made sandwiches. Recommended 🖒
