I had a lunch with a friend after a long time, Magdalena was welcoming friendly and had knowledge of gluten free foods Lovely after food delicious food

We had our wedding reception dinner here for 20+ people and the service was fantastic and the food widely approved of, which for some of our family members was high praise indeed! Browns and their team, especially Gavi worked with us before the date to make sure everything was organised and set up exactly as we wanted or needed so we didn't have to worry about anything before our big day. We had a couple of people drop out on the day and despite them having pre-ordered food, José very kindly informed us he would not charge us for them and together with Abi who was our main server provided us with a five star service, ensuring drinks never ran dry, food was served promptly and quickly and all in all that everything went well. Abi in particular was amazing, going above and beyond to help us, including ensuring we got the best price for what was an excellent meal. Thanks so much!

I came for lunch on Sunday (Mother’s Day), and I have to say I was fairly disappointed. The service was quite slow and a few items we wanted were unavailable. We waited quite a while before anyone took even our drinks order. Its not so bad if you have to wait for your meal order to be taken if you can just sit and have a drink and a chat for a while without having to keep trying to grab a server’s attention. We ordered 2 cod cheeks for starters and was not told at that point that these had sold out. About 10 minutes later our waitress told us that we would have to change our order. 1 of the orders we changed to a prawn cocktail. When this arrived the butter for the bread was so hard that it could not be spread, and so was useless. When we queried this, we were told that serving butter direct from the fridge was company policy. At the end of the meal, we were then told that there was no CRÈME BRÛLÉE available. So did not have a dessert. The constant explanation we had from our waitress was “but it is busy”. I know it was busy – it was Mother’s Day. However, Mother’s Day happens every year and you should plan for this fact. I can sort of understand that you run out of things on busy days, but this was only a couple of hours after you had opened. I find it hard to believe that on such a busy day you did not have enough of certain items to last that long. You are not one of the cheapest chains for restaurants and I have to say I expected a lot better. Would defiantly not recommend anyone to go there on a busy day.

Really poor Mother’s Day meal. We were a party of 7 and 4 of our roast dinners came out cold. The service was really slow, and we were too hungry to wait for them to heat the meal that was offered. We were offered more ‘greens’ and when they came over they were also cold!! There was a number of options that weren’t available and we were asked to make compromises on the meals that we did choose such as half a chicken came out as two legs. The quality of the food was very poor, very limited vegetables and potatoes on the meal. The teriyaki chicken skewers were hardly skewers a very small piece of chicken on a tooth pic!! Deserts didn’t offer much more with the chocolate brownies being over cooked and I had to go and ask for the second one to be bought over! Extremely disappointing and put a real dampener on treating my mum for Mother’s Day. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Dreadful and will make sure I never visit again. What was supposed to be a enjoyable family meal to celebrate both my son's 18th birthday and mother's day ruined by poor service, lack of availability on numerous dishes, incredibly long wait time for our food and even having to chase up starters which I was advised had been incorrectly picked up by another server. Shame I cannot put zero stars.

Abi was fantastic. We had a larger group of 20 people. Everything was super organized and the food was excellent!! Great Job!!

Never again, after spending the last few years in and out of Cancer Care My partner and I decided to meet up with our daughter over dinner in Reading to explain where we are! We thought Browns would be a good place to dine and talk! After we ordered our starters which were fine we were looking forward to our steaks! Unfortunately that’s where the enjoyment stopped, a crowd of twenty odd men were being served upstairs and decided to sing at the tops of their voices, we obviously complained to the waiter who thought is was funny! We then had the Manager come over to say sorry but there wasn’t much he could do! It would have been better for us to have gone to McDonald’s as I’m sure the managers in their would have had the back bone to stop them from singing in a relatively high class restaurant! We decided that it was just best for us to leave our dinners and get out! So £149.00 for three steaks that were left and two starters! And not even an apology from the waiter that took our orders and our money! Disgraceful experience.

Nice place and friendly staff. Cod cheeks very tasty. Ordered water, didn’t arrive. The caeser salad was not good, in particular the chicken was chicken thigh which was slimy in texture and tasted if it had been in the fridge for a week, altogether a soggy mess. Chicken schnitzel very tasty and the trio of puddings certainly made up for the disappointing Caesar. We would return as putting it down to a “bad salad” day!

Came here a couple of years back and it was lovely but sadly gone way down, came for a family meal and it was pretty quiet for a Friday evening when most the other restaurants were full there were kids running round the place like it was a play barn, the service was mediocre at best asked for water numerous times the wine was forgot I mean come on guys it was half empty but the worst was the food was pretty average to poor when the bill was north of £300, only positive was the Irish coffee was good but won’t be returning Cote is much better up the road

Visited for dinner while in Reading. The food was delicious, particularly the fish pie. The heavenly chocolate brownie was perfect to finish. I was really pleased to see they serve Whispering Angel and was able to enjoy a bottle of this wonderful wine.
