This is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The personnel can’t do enough for you especially Pan and Angie. We have been here 3 months in a row and each time Pam and Angie have been superb ambassadors for the hotel

Had an excellent afternoon tea here at Browns. The quality of the food, the decor and the top class service from the friendly staff, from whom nothing is too much trouble. My wife and myself have been many times over the yrs, and it never fails to be top notch. It is without doubt the best afternoon tea in the area, and comes highly recommended.

Unfortunately I can’t leave a review of afternoon tea at The Mere as my booking has been cancelled with three days’ notice. We were due to celebrate a special family birthday and have been left to find an alternative venue. What a disappointment.

Delighted to share the most excellent afternoon tea with champagne. Special dietary requirements were honoured with expertise and flare. The food was exquisite the deserts were exceptional Delightful atmosphere efficient attentive 5 star service absolutely outstanding PERFECTION

Had an afternoon tea in Brown's today that was really special, the finger sandwiches were fresh and tasty with a good variety of fillings and the scones were light and just right with jam and cream. The selection of cakes was particularly good, light and delicious. The overall presentation was excellent. All the staff were efficient in their service and well mannered and friendly. I can only recommend this afternoon tea highly.

On arrival we experienced a similar wait as previous reviewers have described. This was not a great problem, but we were eventually shown into an area that my daughter described as a giant Wetherspoons in its decor. We were seated on sofas which needed hoovering. My coffee cup was dirty. The food was lovely and fresh, but this was not a special experience at all and not one that we will be repeating. There are many other places that offer a much more special experience.

The food from start to finish was amazing! Loved it! Unfortunately what should, could, of been a beautiful romantic meal was destroyed by the fact the restaurant is basically sitting with hotel reception, you cannot enjoy an intimate meal here, unless you can tune out the reception doors opening every so often, multiple people checking in and wheeling squeaky luggage past you, people screaming over kids or just intoxicated, such a shame.

Visited the restaurant for an evening meal as we were on a spa weekend for my birthday. The food was lovely and the service was great; particularly Will the waiter who could not do more to attend to us. However, a charity boxing event in the room next door meant that our entire meal was accompanied by loud announcements and booming bass music that meant a very expensive and what was supposed to be romantic meal was ruined. We were even subjected to watching some of the boxers in their shorts shadow boxing 2 metres from us whilst we ate our meal. Not a classy vibe. We did complain and staff were understanding, however if we had been pre-warned we certainly wouldn’t have eaten in the restaurant and the experience was already ruined. The drinks and service charge were removed from our hotel bill. Whilst we were not inspired to complain for financial compensation, this gesture is a little redundant following spending over £500 on a stay, lunch and spa treatments in a supposedly luxurious establishment that ended with such a lamentable taste.

I took my mother for afternoon tea there this week. Our server was Laurent and he was outstanding. He made us laugh from the moment we arrived. Such a warm welcome. The food was lovely and the service was amazing. I would definitely go back there soon.

Came for a Birthday Afternoon Tea at Browns Restaurant. The selection and quality of sandwiches, sweet treats and scones was delightful. Pam's service was outstanding and made the experience extra special. Couldn't fault anything from arrival, to eating to leaving... just excellent. I would definitely return and recommend to others too.

Its a golf resort with a really nice restaurant. The scallops, duck and pork belly/cheek were genuinely first class. Service was great too however we did eat early before any groups arrived.

Stayed here over night was such a lovely stay. We were worried about the reviews for the restaurant. The staff were amazing so helpful, lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Food was really good we had scallops starter and fillet steak main with truffle fries. Cocktails nice too.

My wife and I stayed here for one night and ate in Browns restaurant. The room was pleasant enough and the setting for this place is truly beautiful. You always expect to pay a little over the odds in places like this but this place is extortionate. £9.20 for a G&T. Really? When we arrived we made a point of making a reservation for the restaurant and reception assured us that this was all sorted for us. When we went to the restaurant later on there was no table reserved! Great start! We ordered drinks ( 2 x G& T) and made a point of asking for just a little ice. Mine had 13 ice cubes in the glass. Unbelievable. When our starters arrived my plate was covered in greasy finger prints. They changed the plate. For mains my wife ordered steak and I went for the pork belly. The steak and chips was bang average and my pork had no crackling. Pork belly without crackling ? Are you serious?The chef offered to deep fry some pork rinds to create some crackling, so I was basically served a portion of pork scratchings on the side. By the time I got to eat my wife had finished and mine had gone cold. What little I could eat (about two mouthfuls) was so salty that I just couldn’t continue. Dreadful. I was not asked if I’d like to reorder but asked if I’d like the dessert menu. What about my main course? We shared a cheese board which was pretty good as there was no cooking required. I went to bed still hungry. Breakfast was an absolute disgrace. Possibly worst I’ve ever had and believe me I’ve had some bad ones. Just don’t go here to eat. The food and service are seriously substandard.

Buffet breakfast. Everything had been under the hot light for so long the bacon was brittle and everything luke warm. The only rotor toaster I’ve ever seen that went round quickly and toasted bread properly.

We were warmly welcomed by Pam, and seated at a lovely table for two. Pam was very friendly, attentive and professional - offering us drinks on arrival and checking dietary requirements, before promptly bringing our afternoon tea and explaining all of the offerings. The afternoon tea was delicious and plentiful - highly recommend. Outstanding service from start to finish - a special thank you to Pam for making our experience so enjoyable.
