Beautiful pub with excellent food and beer. The service was outstanding. The ambiance was perfect, I can’t say enough goods things about it. Go there.

Had dinner on high recommendation. However, I was so disappointed with my meal. I had a crispy chicken burger, which look fabulous, I May add, but OMG it was the most tasteless bland chicken burger I have ever eaten. Absolutely no seasoning or flavour in the chicken or the breadcrumbs! My husband had the haddock, which was nice, but too much batter. Staff very friendly, service spot on.

Enjoyed great pub grub at this busy venue. Halloumi chips were fantastic as was the chorizo starter. All mains were excellent and great portions. Pork belly was really good and not too fatty. Burgers were enormous as was the fish and chips. Definitely recommend.

Just stayed one night, evening meal and breakfast. Evening meals were superb, just went for nibbles as starters, Chorizo, Tikka Bahji and Croquettes, all excellent, main course, Fish Pie and Moroccan Lamb, again both very tasty, piping hot and plenty on the plate. Excellent choice of draught beers. Staff all very friendly, welcoming and helpful, an absolutely brilliant one night stay, we will be back !

Tried this inn on previous posts on trip advisor nothing to blow your socks off just average pub food the menu isn’t that interesting .. the ale is very good though it was very busy and the noise was extremely loud with people talking loudly maybe it’s normal here certainly better pubs and restaurants around the area.

Stunning food! Unbelievably good! The new menu was fab! Breakfast was quiet and food was freshly cooked and beautiful 🥰 Stayed in the lodge and it was so homely. Biscuits and coffee supply’s appreciated. Gorgeous smellies in the bath room as well and a lovely hot shower!

A very friendly and welcoming pub - all the team were lovely from the moment we walked in to when we left. Food was good but possibly not quite delivering on all courses. We both had the salmon starter which was delicious and well presented. Couldn’t fault this dish. Our mains were less successful, the Tall One had a steak - it certainly wasn’t rare as he’d requested and the beef wasn’t great quality. He was very underwhelmed. My lamb was delicious thou. We didn’t have puds.

We went there with our three girls. The food is fantastic, the service is great, friendly and very attentive. I wish we would have such a fantastic restaurant in our hometown. I highly recommend this place and hope we’ll have a chance to have a meal there again soon. (The vegetarian options are lovely!)

This restaurant was so good we came back for a second time. I initially visited because gluten and dairy free are marked on the menu. The staff were extremely helpful and before we arrived the chef had marked up changes that could be made; a great help. The food was wonderful! The atmosphere great with music kept quietly in the background. I would visit regularly if I lived closer.

We had visited this pub this afternoon at the end of our 6-mile walk. We had a lovely drink in the bar. We liked the pub so much we booked a table for tonight. We both had burgers and wow!!. We loved them, they were so good. The only downside was we had no room for pudding. My husband was looking forward to sticky toffee pudding which he spotted this afternoon on the menu. Great location, great service and brilliant food. 👏

This is our 4th stay at The Brown Horse, Winster. Every time we have stayed its 10/10. The rooms are comfortable with all the facilities. The pub serves a variety of craft beers and the food is all freshly prepared. The breakfast is something else with a wide choice of options on the menu. The full English is a must. The pub is located around 3 miles south of Bowness-on Windermere and is in a tranquil location. However the main reason for repeat-return is because all the staff are so friendly. It was my wife's birthday over the stay and the staff wrote out a birthday card and gave her a little surprise ice cream pudding with Happy Birthday written on the plate in chocolate. A very nice touch indeed. It really is the staff who make the pub what it is so a big thank you to Rachel on reception who always greets you with a welcoming smile and conversation. The bar staff, Mike, Jacob, Sean and Kevin on breakfast plus the 2 ladies who served us our evening meal (sorry I do not know your names). Sean it was only your 3rd day working at The Brown Horse and the waiter service that you gave us was exemplarily. We can't wait until our next stay.

I confess I’ve eaten here lots, a first of Sunday lunch. Off the scale tasty Superb in every way I had to try the cheese and onion pasty when I saw it, absolutely delicious with the usual roast accompaniment Brilliant service as ever

Stopped for a family dinner whilst visiting Windermere, we come often but never tried The Brown Horse Inn. We left really impressed, the food was Excellent and will definitely return again. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Would recommend.

Pros: good quality of the classic main courses with meat (pheasant, vennison), beers, traditional and charming decoration, waitresses' service. Cons: disappointing quality of the beefburger (notably the meat which was dry), waiter's service, poor attention to children.

Absolutely exceptional meal. Christmas Eve lunch busy pub but still every course that came out was cooked to perfection the staff were warm and welcoming and the whole experience was wonderful. This was our first visit but won’t be out last

We chose the Brown Horse as a lunch stop after shopping in Bowness. I’m so glad we did. The food was amazing. I had fish and chips and hubby had the turkey roast. My meal was perfectly cooked, with crispy batter and delicious, home made chips. The fish was huge! No grease whatsoever. The turkey roast looked amazing. Hubby said it tasted as good as it looked and we both agreed this was the best food we’d ever had. In an area with lots of good restaurants and pubs, this is no mean feat. Hubby wanted a stout but they’d sadly run out (so he’s planning a second visit!) But the amber ale from the local Handsome Brewery was excellent, apparently. The pub was very traditional and the service warm and friendly. They have luxury cabins to stay in so we are thinking of doing this soon. The pub has recently been awarded Cumbrian Pub of the Year, and I can see why ❤️

This restaurant is excellent. We were recommended the restaurant and enjoyed the most fantastic meal. I went for the Winster Estate Game of the Day with all its trimmings and could not believe just how good it was. It not only looked outstanding but was also a good meal rather than just pretty on the plate. My hubby had the the Crramy Fish Pie which was also thoroughly enjoyed. A la hora de la cena en nuestra última noche, no nos ofrecieron bebidas en la mesa en su lugar después de 10 - 15 minutos de espera tuve que ir al bar para ellos y luego me dijeron que iban a venir para ayudar en lugar de darme las bebidas allí y entonces. Tuvimos que esperar otros 10 minutos o así después de haberlo pedido nuestra comida para las bebidas que llega con la comida! La comida estaba muy bien presentada y sabía muy bien pero fue increíble. Bien presentado. El personal era amable, en especial la señora que hizo lo posible por ayudarnos.

La comida era de primera clase, el personal era amable y atento, menú era bueno, lo mejor era el menú de Ginebra deben de haber sido 27 más para elegir con consejos si es necesario. También tienen habitaciones que estaremos dando a alojarse en el futuro.

El precioso jardín de la cerveza al aire libre con un montón de espacio y algunos cuencos de agua para perros! No vimos mucho de dentro, pero la zona de bar y zona para sentarse alrededor parecía cómodo y acogedor. Para empezar, tuvimos una porción de pan de ajo y el cóctel de gambas, que eran muy amables. Pedimos dos hamburguesas & Ale y pastel de carne para los campos de limpieza. La carne en la hamburguesa estaba bien preparado y licitación, y en general, fue deliciosa! pastel de carne con cerveza estaba llena de carne, que era tan bonita como la carne de hamburguesa. Los postres también Pedimos; pegajosa pudding toffees, la pasión cheesecake de fruta, y algo más que no me acuerdo bien ... El Sticky pudding toffees era delicioso, así como el queso. La pasión sabor de la fruta es bastante fuerte en cheesecake pero eso no era una mala cosa! Ambiente encantador y un personal amable. En general una estancia maravillosa!

Comimos aquí durante su estancia cerca durante nuestra luna de miel. Este restaurante tiene una excelente selección de comida a un buen precio. El personal era amable y el ambiente era genial. Estaba a tope y el aparcamiento era un poco difícil, pero nos las arreglamos para encontrar un lugar en la carretera de enfrente. Tuve una hamburguesa de ternera con patatas fritas mientras mi marido eligió una lasaña de verduras. Las comidas eran excelentes y abundantes. Sin duda lo recomiendo comer aquí y volveremos la próxima vez que estemos en la zona.

Mi pareja eligió salchichas y cebolla ciabatta y elegí el pollo y patés pancetta y pedimos una porción de patatas fritas rústicas. La comida llegó rápidamente, aunque estaban ocupados) con servicio amable. El paté era casero y fue excelente, con la ciabatta de salchicha siendo enorme y el plato de patatas fritas mucho más grande de lo que esperábamos. En general, la comida fue excelente a un muy buen precio en un lugar encantador. Sin duda comer aquí de nuevo - teníamos intención de ir y probar, por un tiempo, y son ahora tan nos alegramos - su situado en la bella campiña Lyth es un experto en el valle - una joya escondida.

El Inn marrón de caballos nos lo recomendó un propietario local de la tienda y lo verdaderamente agradecidos que estamos!! Escondido en un entorno tranquilo este precioso pub está acabado con una calidad excepcional y por diseño muy pensado el propietario ha logrado carácter y encanto de infundir en todo el hotel. El bar está completamente equipada con una amplia y maravillosa selección y el personal era amable y muy servicial. La comida que pedimos era excepcional y no podía no ser criticada. En general, una gran visita y lo recomiendo encarecidamente. Tan buenos que hicimos una estancia de fin de semana en el hotel para sus próximas fechas disponibles!

Booked that day, nice table in a corner, interesting menu with lots of choice, good service - the only tiny negative was that the fish - halibut - ordered by two of us - was just a bit too salty for our taste - neither of us add any salt to our food.

No es tanto el mensaje que era el problema (aunque cómo muchos pubs en los lagos sólo sirven comida en un domingo entre hasta 12 años no pagan pm / después de las 6), pero la entrega en cada ocasión era brusco y en la segunda ocasión asombrosamente grosero. Mi pareja y yo disfrutamos de un cena aquí los jueves por la 14 th mayo para redondear un gran vacaciones de 5 noches. Reservamos la mesa por mesa abierto en su sitio web que fue muy rápido y fácil. Llegamos temprano, así que disfrutamos de una bebida primero y después nos llevaron a nuestra mesa junto a la ventana. Allí estaba el menú principal junto con unas buenas ofertas menú. La comida era muy sabroso y con grandes porciones y veloz servicio aunque nunca nos sentimos presionados y pedí una pausa de 5 minutos antes de que pedimos pudding. Teníamos dos entrantes (pirulís de chorizo y queso soufflé), 2 platos principales (y tocino y champiñones del hígado tagliatelle) y 2 postres (torta y helado mocha") junto con 4 bebidas y la factura era aprox. 58 libras. El personal era muy amable y eficiente, y sin duda volvería a comer aquí de nuevo si estuviese en la zona junto con tener sin duda recomendar a otros.

This is off the beaten track but well worth the drive. With a micro brewery on site, they have a good range of ale and a great menu. We had a really enjoyable evening and would definitely recommend.

Sé que puede sonar ridículo pero los verdes eran absolutamente impresionantes. Volvería al Brown Horse Únicamente para los greens.

This is a great traditional pub with great food and ales. They even have natural hand made dog snacks and a specific dog food menu! Well worth a visit.

Realmente nos apetecía una buena comida de pub, recomendó el Brown Horse de un amigo sentido así que hicieron para ver por nosotros mismos. Comí una lasaña paté de empezar y vegetariano por principales algo pesada con patatas fritas. No me puedo quejar la comida y el precio era razonable. Lo más destacado era las patatas fritas!
