It was very busy when we went, so we had to sit in the family/dog-friendly area, which was ok as the 4 dogs there were all well-behaved and didn't smell (dogs do have an odour). The prices, though, are ridiculous - £5 for a slice of cake! I didn't have any, I won't pay that price.

Visited again in coffee shop. Agree with review below. Very stained teapots etc. Chose a delicious Easter chocolate cupcake for it to be served on a stained saucer. These items aren’t cheap but to be presented like that is very disappointing. Perhaps people serving should have more consideration.

Treated ourselves to a Saturday morning breakfast . One large , one small . Breakfast arrived , everything on the plate was cold . I spoke to the manager and he took it away and we waited for a replacement . When this arrived it was also cold so we asked for a refund . (£10.99 & £7.99) Very disappointed , we expected much more from this lovely garden centre .

Friendly staff. Bit of a queue to order. Where’s the ham on the menu? Ham sandwiches & chips used to be lovely. Only with ploughmans now. Prawns with jacket potato were chewy & thin sauce. Not pleasant. Unappetising salad. Bottles of mayo not as hygienic as sachets. Very nice citrus tart. Coffee shop section is very relaxing & nicely set out. Different cakes to main cafe. Will continue to visit as have done for years but doubt for lunch as not so good today.

What have they done to the previous cafe service and overall experience? It’s terrible! Poorly managed order process, with no ability to see the quality of the food they are preparing . Scones left open right next to where lines of customers are forced to wait long times for hot drinks. Ran out of some hot items at 11:00 and I could see staff in the food prep area with long hair hanging over the food, touching food with bare hands. Waited 35 mins for a mini breakfast what was luke warm. Feel sorry for the staff working in such chaotic conditions but won’t be going again. No amount of Christmas gifts, over priced biscuits and room fragrance sticks will make it worth it. This place has lost its purpose and soul. What a shame!

Avoid this filthy cess-pit not merely like the plague, but to save infection from it. Disgusting food clearly prepared by a gaggle of sweaty old women in an outhouse. Worst of all must be the pseudo 'bakewell' tart/almond and jam slab which LITERALLY tastes of paraffin and is inedible despite the extortionate price. Took one bite and decided to bring the rest home for our pet rats. EVEN THEY REFUSED TO EAT IT!! Fortunately the staff are so slow and useless you are likely to give up waiting to be served and go somewhere decent.

Watching the lady in the servery picking up breakfast food that missed the plate onto the counter and putting it back onto the plate with ungloved hands wasn’t my idea of hygiene any more than the ketchup sachets falling on the floor and then being put into a drawer for later use. Never mind a handful, again ungloved, of marshmallows put onto a saucer for hot chocolate. Grim. I don’t usually give bad reviews but I found these actions most distasteful. Noticed this whilst just waiting for my own hot drink.

I was given a gift token so I came today to spend it. Christine is Glutton free so we had very little choice of what we could have. Egg mayo sandwich or jacket potato and vegan cheese. She went with the Egg. I had the quiche. Chritine had decaf tea with soya milk and I had normal tea with normal milk. After a very long wait in the queue to order. I ordered as above, GF sandwich specified and paid with the token. Unfortunately they don't have a bar code reader so they had to type in the 16 digit number, twice. After paying I collected our tea and went to the table. I looked at the receipt and it didn't mention GF. So I had to go back to the counter to confirm. It was correctly ordered but just didn't show it. Whilst we waited for our lunch to turn up we managed to drink most of our tea. The cutlery was sadly limited to only a handful of knives and forks, the tissues you had to serve yourself out of a packet that had clearly been opened by another customer. When our order was delivered I have to say the quiche was nice, and hot. The salad seemed to be mess of chopped up green things with some fluid spread over it. The coldslaw was nice enough. Christine got some sort of crisps which, since she didn't know what they were, she couldn't eat, along with the salad and fluid. The fluid was not menioned on the menu as I recall so we didn't know to decline it. As I was emptying the pot into my cup something slid out of the spout. When I looked in the pot it had very thick staining on the sides, which scapped off easily. Which looked like the remenants in my cup. Needless to say I didn't drink it. As this point we had finished so we left the table and I took the teapot back to the till where the lady apologized and gave us 2 complementary hot drink tokens. I didn't think but I should have given them to someone waiting in the queue as I think it is very unlikely we shall back there again. We also had a look and the cakes and could not see anything that was marked glutten free.

This is my local garden centre and eatery so I come here regularly. Firstly if you are visiting on a Saturday be aware that it's going to be busy and the young staff are working their socks off to keep everything moving. There is a review below from 'Ockbrookchick' which I am fairly sure is the same couple who were there at a similar time time me. The lady's husband was absolutely awful to a young girl working there - she looked no more than 16 - after he shouted at her another man stepped in to tell him to back off then a young woman had a go at him. Completely unnecessary. The young member of staff was clearly upset by this and was taken into the back. This was all over some cutlery that was not clean enough apparently. The man then sat down with his head in his hands - clearly having a bad day and probably embarrassed by the scene he had just created seemingly sent his wife to get a refund on their food. 1 member of staff down on a busy Saturday it's no wonder the tables didn't get cleared quickly enough. Please be assured that in all my years of eating at Brookfield's there has never been any concerns for health and safety, the staff are super helpful and the food is always great just bear in mind that on the busiest day of the week there will be a longer wait for food and if customers were considerate and at least left their tables with the pots on the tray rather than food all over the floor and the table in a mess things would get done much quicker.

Dirty Cutlery in the self serve baskets , when clean cutlery brought out staff just placed it on top of the visibly dirty cutlery. Piles of dirt plates , tables not being wiped down between customers. Very long wait for food 40 minutes when it did arrive the burger and chips were cold . The salad wasn’t complete - half the ingredients missing , when we made staff aware they took the salad away to add the missing items, 10mins later salad returned still incomplete. Decided not eat and left the restaurant. I received a refund for the food. The assistant said that there was no manager on duty that day .. Saturday should have a manager on duty. If a restaurant cannot cope with basic health and safety cleanliness then don’t open to the public. Never going again

I came here with my children today. I bought two lunch boxes which were extremely expensive and not very good value- a small cob, bag of crisps, biscuits, jelly and a drink. No fruit on offer. Other places charge about £3 for these and they were £5.99 or £6.99. I was going to buy myself a jacket potato but they were outrageously expensive too! £9 is a joke and I don’t understand why this cafe think that’s acceptable in a cost of living crisis. Staff were lovely and ever so helpful but it’s so overpriced and I felt totally ripped off.

Had a cheese and chutney sandwich could only taste the chutney, the cheese was wafer thin. For the price I would expect to taste and see the cheese. They have since put cakes out for the public to serve themselves. I sat and watched many people handle cakes with their hands and then change their minds. Not acceptable!! There is also tongs and sharp cake handlers which is very dangerous as all the public have access to these . The staff are fantastic but the management of the place have gone to pot, what a disgrace.

Onto the drinks, the self service coffee machine was out of order, so we waited... and waited... and waited to eventually be served by a sullen faced youth, who literally 'tossed' the little biscuits you get with the coffee onto our tray... What wonderful service...NOT.

This was my second afternoon tea here & it was just as good as the first time. I took my friend here for a treat & she said it was lovley. The bread was nice & fresh & you get a really good selection of yummy cakes. The price is very good for all that you get & they even top your tea or coffee up. The staff are lovley here as well & make sure you are happy with your food. Would highly recommend this place.

I visited the Garden Centre today with a friend and decided to have a coffee, which was very nice and hot. I think there is still a problem with the queuing system, if you only wish to purchase a drink. Also not impressed with the off hand way we were served. We had a good look round and decided to have another coffee and found the same off hand approach by the same waitress, I believe she requires some lessons in customer service. Other than that we enjoyed our visit.

This garden centre and cafe is quite convenient for my wife and I, and we have been calling for several years. We decided to call today and meet up with friends for a walk around and a quiet coffee and chat, some hope of that with the creche at one end, and the normally quiet end been taken over by some idiot dressed as spiderman with a microphone performing to children. Surely this could have been done at the creche end, and did he really need the microphone. We couldn't have a conversation because of the noise, and after a while we walked out, not unlike quite a few other people who were of the same opinion as us. I don't expect you will respond to this letter, if not we will not be calling again.

Good cake and nice coffee. Large garden centre with everything you would expect garden plants, furniture, clothes, toys, rabbits and good selection of fancy biscuits and drinks to buy. There is a good selection of plants at a reasonable price. Plenty of parking.

Not sure who this "Arthur" is now but you need to go back to the old system of 5 item breckfast. Why would I pay for a set breckfast when there are items I dont like on it. Sorry lost 2 customers.

We visited probable at the worst time to be fair. It was Sunday lunch. Several of the items were sold out. We opted for the jacket potatoes. The food was good. Though the service was slow. There were plenty of people working in the kitchen. And clearing the tables, but only one gentleman serving the food. Safe could have been allocated better. We will go back as we have been on previous occasions and have had great service.

This was the first time we have visited the garden centre, After walking round and enjoying this family run centre we decided to try lunch.my wife tried the quiche and salad selection and I went for a pasty chips and veg.all food was enjoyable other than the cold med veg on the salad. this didn't seam to fit and with large pieces not very enjoyable. smaller pieces mixed into couscous would have worked better.

Went for breakfast this morning approximately 10.30am. The queues for food were appalling clearly not enough staff and the staff on duty were very slow. After waiting in the queues we didn't even bother with a hot drink as the food was getting cold waiting. Run out of fried eggs was informed it would be 5 minutes to cook there was scrambled egg on the counter asked for that as couldn't wait any longerVery disappointed on this ocassion especially 4 x breakfasts and a child's breakfast not cheap.

I went here with a friend to try it out. As we interested the garden centre. We were assulted by the smell of burnt food. The carvery a very large lump of meat looked and smelled like a burned body. Put off by both price and lack of choice. I opted for a bland lemon merange with coffee. The coffee was nasty leaving so bad and aftertaste we had to go to another coffee place to get rid of it. On the way out I noticed that they gave away old coffee grounds. I wonder how many times they use them first. Avoid.

This good size café is part of the Brookfields Garden Centre and has a good selection of hot & cold food as well as drinks including alcoholic drinks. For a garden centre the price is quite reasonable and the food & drinks are of a high standard. You also have afternoon teas at £12 person with sandwiches and cakes as well as nice scones with jam and cream. Definitely worth stopping by the café if you are visiting this garden centre.

I'm presently sat in the cafe at Brookfields & can't wait to finish my tea & get out. There are dogs barking from the 'Dog friendly seating area', music blaring out from a terrible music system. The cafe rooms do not flow so much as sprawl away from the food counter. Too big & unwelcoming. I'll shop here again but will pop to Floralands cafe in future. Tea drank, now where's the door?

I love this garden center, the soft play area for children, the shop options and of course, the cafe. The full English breaksfast is good value for your money and always freshly cooked. They also serve very tasty jackets and paninies for lunch and the scones are amongst the best I've ever had. The staff is helpful and polite. Carole, in the cafe, is a delight, she even tries to say a few words to me and my son in my mother language when she see us!

We went for a Christmas lunch menu as a party of 4 following good experiences previously at Sunday lunch. Menu choices were confirmed a week in advance. This time it was very disappointing. We had to wait nearly 30 minutes for the main course to arrive. The few vegetables there were had been cooked to the point of incineration. The fish had a hard yellow crust and the turkey roll defied cutting. The 3 "Tender broccoli" stems were black and crisped whilst Brussels sprouts had the texture of golf balls. Only the cranberry sauce had any taste. We were asked if we would like to wait before service of the second course. We declined as we wished to conclude the meal as soon as possible. However another long wait still ensued and we found out why - the white roulade was still semi frozen! Sadly we do not recommend!

Don't be fooled by the dog friendly tag on the board at the front. With the minimum of at least water for a dog unfortunately there is no sign of. Coupled with sharp flint on the floor means any dog not comfortable. Call me picky but Bank Holiday would see most of the pumps available. Sadly the opposite applies here. Most pumps have a sad glass covering them indicating "that ones off". Could be really nice with a little thought. Better pubs closer that are actually dog friendly & you stand a chance of actually drinking a beer that you want.

We went in on a Thursday... It was quiet but generally a decent pub. I imagine it has a good atmosphere on a busy night.
