We visited brockbushes with the kids for pumpkin picking, which all seems great at the time. I was charged to enter the farm think it was about £7 (you have to buy tickets in advance) the weather wasnt great which can’t be helped but picked some pumpkins. Once at the till i was charged £24 for 3 standard size orange ones and 2 tiny white ones. I couldn’t believe it anyways i paid, then i was asked if we would like to carve the pumpkins which thought thata great to then be told it was £2.50 each to carve them 😂 Not only do you pay just to enter the field, then get over charged for pumpkins you then have to pay to carve them!! It was nothing but a rip off!! I wont be back again, and its such a shame as its such a lovely farm with ridiculous prices

We attended an event yesterday and it was great we loved it and the staff were lovely. However, we all went for lunch at the restaurant inside and the food was so overpriced for what you got. My dad got half a sausage which was also sliced in half again in a normal bun (advertised as brioche). My husband got a pie and salad leaves for almost £10!! And we had to pay extra £3 for chips to come with it (which we didn't get) and luckily got refunded for. When looking at the farm shop the pie was £4 on its own. And I had chilli con carne on chips and there was very little chilli and even less mince! We had to pay £70 for 6 meals which was extortionate for small lunch meals. Have emailed them regarding this and had no response. Shame, wouldn't go back.

me and my family decided to visit this place for the pumpkin picking and the grandkids to have fun also although they enjoyed the pumpkin event, the food in cafe was rediculasly over priced for what you get, my husband got a sausage in a brioche bun except it did not come like that it was half of a sausage sliced in half lengthways and just half of it put in a white finger bun, my daughters food were similar we orderd seasoned fries with corned beef pie and what we got was just a small peice of corned beef pie and that cost 9quid, i wish we had gone elsewhere i really regret going in this cafe if you have any sence dont go to this cafe very exspensive and for what you get.

After placing our order for breakfast this morning (11/10/2024) the tea and coffee along with a fruit scone were delivered after a few minutes. The scone came with clotted cream despite the order being for jam and butter only. What followed was a 45 minute wait for the order of Eggs Benedict during which time, hot meals were delivered to neighbouring tables who had been seated and had ordered after ourselves. My partner would not eat her scone until my order arrived despite my assurances that it couldn’t possibly be much longer! Eventually, my hunger got the better of me and I managed to get the attention of one of the waitresses (no one had bothered to ask if everything was OK in the now 50 minute wait). I explained that my food had not arrived and it was quickly apparent that my order had simply been forgotten. I told the waitress that I would pay for our drinks but not our food order as it was only partially delivered and had not been touched. She returned with a bill for the drinks and the untouched scone for which I refused to pay. I did pay for the drinks but commented that this charge should have been waived in lieu of our extended wait and undelivered order. Very poor customer service in what appeared to be a chaotic process with dealing with simple orders. I obviously will not be returning and would urge caution if visiting the restaurant as there is a distinct lack good quality table service. Hopefully just teething problems but the unwillingness to waive the price of a couple of hot drinks has cost any future visits

I visited brockbushes on a lovely sunny day with my 5 year old to pick some fruits. We got a great crop of strawberries and plums. We also visited the cafe and shop. I would say all the staff we interacted with were courteous and friendly. There was a small queue for the cafe but the half price eat out to help out made up for that. Food was good but a bit basic for vegetarians/vegans. Though I have to say the vegan blueberry cake was delicious. We had a great time there but the only slight criticism is the £2 charge per person. It would work out quite costly for larger families and potentially put them off visiting. I understand with the pandemic maybe more need to charge which for us was fine as we were only a party of 2 people. But not sure if I’d be willing to pay to visit with a larger party. But otherwise great place to visit and staff are doing a great job to maintain it. I would definitely visit again.

I had signed up for alerts of when slots were released and managed to book one easily. It wasn't too busy and the staff directed us to the best places to pick. We spent a small fortune on strawberries and raspberries but the girls had a great time picking them. Could probably do with a price list at the start so you have a rough idea of how much to pick. There was a crazy golf on and one carnival ride which was £2. Hand santiser is to be used before you use it.We bought a few things from the farm shop. Only a few people are allowed in at a time and there are markers for one way and social distancing. All in all we had a great morning here.

First of all we had a lovely day picking out our pumpkins, carving them and having a snack in the farm shop. We did find a little bit disappointing that the pumpkins were not attached to a vine and were just laid out in a field for you to pick up so I’m not sure if the pumpkins are grown there? As much as it was very busy (last weekend before Halloween AND the first weekend or last weekend of some children’s half term.... need I say anymore) the queues all went down very quickly. There was still plenty of pumpkins to choose from, my toddler picked two small size pumpkins costing £2 each... yes you can go into a supermarket and pay that price to get a larger one BUT you are paying for the excitement and experience. There are lots of different size pumpkins in lines on a field, and you go hunting for your pick. You can spent as little or as long here. (You can’t clearly see that they’ve been home grown but really? Again it’s the excitement and experience. We LOVED it. There is optional extras such as carving kit, a carving tent, rides and face paint so you can spend as little or as much as you like. The cafe looks lovely, there are toilet and baby change facilities and the shop is great too. I’ve been before and the ice cream is amazing... a must try. We have also been strawberry picking and it’s just as much fun. Note to self: remember if your picking two full baskets full that you have to weigh them and pay for them Again, if you want to pay budget, go to a local fruit shop but I bet you don’t have half as much fun or spend half of your time there... We got a Groupon for the sausage making there too, another good morning or afternoon of something different. The lady who runs it is a hoot. Another great idea and something new, fun and foodie to try.

This is a fine example of a place that used to be lovely and is now awful. This place have realised that people will pay a lot of money for nothing. £2 for a scrawny pumpkin up to £8 for a large pumpkin. The word ‘picking’ is very loose. They are placed in mud and you have to pick them off the ground. There’s no real proof that they were even home grown there. The women in the payment tent slyly put down a set of carving tools and then asked for £8.50. When I asked how our £6 pumpkin had suddenly became £8.50 she explained that the tools were £2. First of all, I can get a large pumpkin for £3 in a supermarket and the tools can be bought in either a supermarket or Poundland for £1. It is a complete rip off. There is a roundabout for £2 a ride and an inflatable slide, also for a cost. Face painting for a cost. It is overrun with people. The only thing they have sufficient space for is parking. After that it’s a case of ramming as many people inside to take as much money from them as possible. The cafe was a small slice of living hell with everyone sat on top of each other, babies screaming and yummy mummies fighting over high chairs. Save yourself a nightmare and go to White House Farm instead.

Popped in to break our journey on the A69 today. Our last visit was about 7 years ago and we were quite shocked that there seemed to be no changes to the shop or cafe buildings since then. Given the prices they charge for everything it seems no investment is being put back into the business. The exterior is very ramshackle and the interior quite shabby and scruffy looking. The coffee and cake was really lovely and service was friendly but it's such a shame it's well overdue a refurb.

Visited here for the first time with my husband and parents. Plenty parking ,so that was good.however , the entrance wasn't up to much, 2 tables outside were being visited by the local fly family as plates and food hadn't been cleared . Hmmm. The shop display of its pricey goods was disappointing. No thought has gone into the appearence , or positioning of ornaments (leaning onto eacother) to enhance their appeal. I tried to look at a flamingo but thwarted by random tall stands that blocked the way. The art work in the extortionate cafe was just thrown on the wall, probably from where the flamingos were and not even straight!Played havoc with my OCD! A piece of crispie cake was £2:25 ,(jeeze), as were the other cakes we purchased, Two ofthe cakes slid into each otheron the serving tray and made one squashed! At least there was an apology from the waiter who left us with a load of spoons? The tea and coffee were nice but for the price we thought it was poor. WiFi is top secret here, they won't give you the password. The kids slides outside looked fun but we never ventured there. This place has potential but relies on families with big appetites , purses, and a need for' never heard of before' chutneys, curries in jars and frozen rhubarb, ohand the garage using space outside to promote a Qashquai or two.Need: 're arrange all displays and straighten/group pics.Lower prices to a realistic level.Clear outside tables.Clean menus!! Tea and coffee stains arnt nice.Staff need to smile and laugh more c'mon, it's summer and lovely out there.Have some banter, at least!!Get some customer Wi-Fi, unless there is a good reason.

This traditional tearoom has been a favourite for many years alway with delicious homemade food. Our visit last Monday however was very disappointing due to wasps swarming around the restaurant while we tried to enjoy lunch. The apathy of the staff to take any pest control measures or close the doors both for public health and hygiene gave us no option but to leave along with many other families. I have never experienced this even when eating outside abroad and would never return.

I come here quite regularly and visited today with my daughter whilst on our Hadrian's Wall cycle ride. Always good food, friendly staff and bustling with customers. If you want good, hearty, value-for-money food then come here !

Called in for some fruit, sadly not that much left now, at about 3.30pm then had a cuppa and a piece of cake, I nearly fainted at the prices, I know it is all home made etc but is majorly over priced for what you get. The outside eating area was a mess and they were packing some of it up for the day that didn't make us feel very welcome.

There is a saying about the cleanliness of a place...Judge it by the standard of the toilets they have...how true! ...My son and I visited here on Friday 2nd August ... we both said the place needs a thorough good cleaning deep cleaning at that...The tables dirty, the carpets filthy , the menus well if you can call them menus were bits of paper gunked up with tomato sauce etc, the woodwork shelves toilets were all filthy...even the windows if you want to add this to the list because they were dirty too...we will never go back and certainly not recommend it...we were not even impressed with the shop it looks as though its gone backwards. No there are plenty of tea rooms just further up the road in Corbridge we should have continued our journey there.

They charge one pound PER PERSON for entry into the PICK YOUR OWN fruit. Then a pound for the basket. We naively thought that was a deposit off the price of the fruit we would be picking. Nope. They must know how much each EMPTY basket weighs, but that is ADDED to the weight of the fruit you pick.Over £11 for a half cardboard basket of fruit!!There is a sign that says strawberries £5 per kilo, but what they should say is it's almost double that really if it's a pound per person to even get in.We were planning on eating there, but after that much on fruit, no way Jose!Voting with my feet....

We dropped in at about 3.30 for tea and cake and were shocked to see how shabby and dirty the cafe and the area outside appeared to be. They were already packing up some areas of the cafe which didn't make us feel particularly welcome. There were crumbs everywhere and the table was sticky. Equally, even the internal glass doors were mucky and greasy. Most concerning was the messy area by the cake display case, which included bins and piles of files, all on show to the customer. The cakes were excellent, but the lack of basic cleanliness and tidiness would put me off going again. The service was reasonable--it's always been a bit brusque, but you put up with that for the food.I realise that there might be plans for development, but that is no excuse for a lack of attention to cleanliness and packing up a cafe when customers are still eating. Very disappointing.

We stopped here for drinks and a snack. No hot food was ordered, just a tea, a coffee, a scone and a cake. Unbelievably this took 25 minutes to be served (the time of ordering is helpfully printed on your receipt so you can see exactly how long they have kept you waiting), This is entirely due to the bizarre system on which the tearoom is organised because there seemed to be no shortage of staff. The place was not even particularly busy. The procedure is that you have to get a table first then order and pay up front at the till quoting your table number. (Collecting your money is the only thing they do promptly here). Your order is then placed in a queue of orders on the counter and you sit at your table and wait. This amount of delay for food which is already there at the counter ready to serve, is unacceptable. I would recommend that whoever manages this tearoom should have a rethink as to whether this is the best system to run a cafe. Maybe you should visit similar places to see that it is possible devise a system to serve customers promptly. It should be pointed out that there was a notice by the entrance warning that there was a 30 minute wait for food. We assumed that this referred to a delay in the kitchen for cooking hot food not for serving food at the counter. The carpet under our table was covered in crumbs so some attention needs to be paid to hygiene too. This is no way to run a tea shop. I do not recommend this place and will not be visiting again.

Sorry but there’s a bit of a rant ahead!! Whilst this is a lovely coffee shop and the food is delicious, my family will not be returning due to the attitude of a particular member of staff. I have her name and if management are interested in improving their customer service it can be provided. I ordered food and drinks for the 5 people in my party including 2 corned beef pies and 2 portions of wedges. Conversation witnessed by a third party. The 5 drinks arrived but only food for 4. I told the young man serving that we were still waiting for a corned beef pie and a portion of wedges and he apologised and went away to check. Next thing we knew was this lady approaching our table waving receipts in the air stating quite loudly “you didn’t order anything else”. I stated I had asked for 2 Corned beef pies and 2 wedges. Her response was “well you haven’t paid for them, if you want another you will have to pay.” I clarified we were happy to do so but that there must have been an error as I had definitely asked for 2 portions of each. My elderly Dad who the meal was for made a joke towards this lady stating “can you hurry it along, I’m wasting away”, he laughed and so did we. She responded with “we can’t just produce these things immediately, it will take time” and then turned and walked brusquely away!! We were all a little stunned by her absolute attitude towards us. No apology, no “I’m sorry there has been a misunderstanding with the order”, no nothing. My sister went up to the till to pay and quietly challenged this lady stating there was no need for the way she had gone on as we weren’t trying to get anything for free, there had obviously been a misunderstanding and were happy to pay. There was still no apology and instead she said she was offended by what my Dad had said. My sister told her to get a sense of humour as he was quite clearly joking. The meal came (quite quickly I should add) and the young man who served it apologised for the mixup and delay. As we were leaving the tea room, this lady was sitting behind the counter next to the door and my other sister went over to say that after further thought we still weren’t happy at all with her attitude especially seeing as my Dad is a dementia sufferer and that his happy jokey ways are very much a valuable part of him. There was still no acknowledgement or apology from this lady, instead she said “well I couldn’t have known that and your sister has already told me her views”. My sister responded with “well I’m now telling you mine. Whilst it’s true you couldn’t have known about his dementia it should show you why you should be nice to everyone as you never know what is going on with them”. It’s the basic principles of customer service. The other staff who served us could not be faulted. Polite, courteous, helpful, etc and as stated the food was delicious. However, having just one member of staff like that lets the entire team down. I notice from other reviews that there has been similar experiences of unpleasant or rude staff and I wonder if it is the same lady responsible. It aggrieves me to leave a negative response for any independent business and I appreciate anyone can have a bad day, but after today’s experience I really believe this feedback is justified and would suggest some serious customer service training to avoid losing any more customers.

My husband, 2 daughters and I went strawberry picking here. We had a wonderful time in the strawberry fields followed by tea and cake in the tea room. Then a wander around the shop before heading home. Every single part of the day was brilliant. The staff are so lovely and helpful. The tea room is very quaint and the service and the food were faultless. We can’t wait to go back.

Great setting, lovely food, AMAZING cakes. I visited with two friends & my 3 year old son. We sat outside. The food arrived in good time. The waitress brought over a desert, which I couldn’t even pronounce & left it on the table & walked away. I politely informed her it wasn’t something we had ordered, she looked at me quite cross & barked “it is on your ticket/tab”. I apologised (even though I had no reason to apologise) & said we were just waiting on my sons oat & raisin cookie. A moment later she walked over with the cookie, I was sat there smiling & thanked her. She didn’t even look at me, acknowledge me, she just walked away. I was a bit put off as she made me feel like I had done something completely wrong. I couldn’t have been nicer to her. I work in a customer service industry & just a smile or an acknowledgement would have been nice. Due to this, I doubt I’ll be back in a hurry, which is a shame as I couldn’t fault anything else.

We waited in a queue half an hour to place an order for two coffees, and then waited a further half an hour for the order! I saw the sign which advised half an hour wait for food, but did not expect to wait so long for two very substandard coffees. Terrible service and no apology.

Really enjoyed the strawberry Picking and would return to do that. However, the Tearoom was another matter. We were told there would be a 30 minute wait for food, which we accepted as it was very busy. It was quite a hot day so asked if we could at least take our drinks to the table while we waited. We were told in no uncertain circumstances no and that there would be at least a 20 minute wait for drinks. It was only 2 cans of coke and a water. No making involved just had to be picked out of the fridge. We ended up buying extra drinks from the shop whilst we waited. 40 minutes later our drinks arrived. When we queried when our food would arrive we were told the wait was a hour! I explained we were told 30 minutes, no apologies given. 58 minutes after we placed our order the food arrived. 1 pork sandwich, 1 tuna toasted sandwich, 1 bowl of soup and a children’s sandwich picnic box. Nothing extravagant or out if the ordinary. I absolutely understand it was a busy day but i did overhear a staff member telling a customer this is a normal Sunday, well if that is the case surely something could be done about the service or should i say lack of and again i fully understand the staff are extremely busy but a little customer service would not go a miss. Very very disappointed.

We visited cafe today after strawberry picking - wasn’t too much of a queue although there was a notice up saying 45 minute wait for food. We presumed this was for hot food. We ordered 2 filter coffees and 2 scones and it took 25 minutes for these to come to our table. Waitress was very surly and practically threw the coffee and scones on to the table - and with no apology for the wait!!! Yes it was a little busy but still no excuse for bad customer service. So much so we will not return !!!!

We have often visited Brocksbushes and found it very nice. Yesterday we were early customers. We had to wait while two staff behind the counter finished their conversation, then one went to the till and said "Table Number". There was no nice greeting. We then ordered two coffees and a cheese scone, after which I noticed that there was a choice of a small scone at £1.50 or a large one at £2.00. I asked how much I had been charged and the assistant said "£2.00". I said I should have been given the choice, to which she responded, "If you had wanted a small one you should have ordered a small one". In fairness she did offer to change it. However, when it arrived, it was very stodgy and not particularly nice. Also my wife's Americano coffee had coffee grounds in the bottom of the cup, which shouldn't happen. We the decided to buy some home-grown asparagus, which was heavily advertised, but were disappointed to see it was extremely thin and limp and we could buy far better quality in the big supermarkets. We won't be visiting Brocksbushes again as their level of service has clearly deteriorated - we felt like we were a nuisance - and whilst I won't name the staff member on here, I am prepared to divulge it to Brocksbushes if requested

When one thinks of Brockbushes, it is of an up market establishment. However, this is definitely not the case. It is some time since we visited and we were absolutely appalled at the appearance of the coffee shop, disgustingly dirty with the whole place desperately needing a total refurbishment, new carpets, tables and chairs. We almost didn’t stay but were desperate for a drink and the scone and drinks we had were tasty. However, we will NEVER visit again and have told many of our local friends of our shock snd disappointment.

We were in the area to do the sausage making course. We visited the shop, garden centre and cafe after the course and purchased some lovely very tasty fresh fruit and vegetables as these are what we had used in our sausage making and were impressed with the quality. The shop and garden centre were all small but have plenty to look at and purchase. Also the pick your own isn’t on until the end of May so we didn’t get to try this so factor this into your visit if your planning on going soon.

Visited during the school holidays for the Easter fair, food was average. The beef baguette had little flavour but was ok. Staff were pleasant. The cafe area is very cramped and the set up is bizarre, lots of outdoor seating but if you order food you can’t eat it outdoors, except for a very small side area away from the children’s park.

hello, I visited last week as a carer with a little boy with disabilities and his family, no-one assisted us with moving through the cafe as it can be tricky with so many tables with the wheelchair, we sat down out of the way at the back and one went to order while we organised ourselves which is difficult with 3children and a baby, a very rude member of staff came across and said can you move the chair, we explained no as it's a wheelchair and she said can you not put it outside your wasting space, I understand the cafe is busy but the wheelchair is a vital piece of equipment, it's very difficult to go out with a child in there wheelchair especially with added medical supplies and very important equipment we need to bring all attachable to the chair, I feel that a little more understanding and accomodation would have been helpful and the rude tone wasn't necessary as we weren't causing a problem for anyone, I have contacted directly on 3 occasions about this and received no response, I was suprised to recieve this sort of attitude in this day and age and I think this should be noted for the future when dealing with clients with additional needs.

Have visited here before and had tea and fruit scone with jam and also a cheese scone. Lovely freshly baked scones with the option of having them served warm. Could have done with the cheese one being a bit more cheesy but nevertheless nice scones. Served by very pleasant staff.

We have visited here several times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience, however things seem to have gone downhill and I doubt we will return. We decided to pop in mid afternoon for a cuppa and a bite to eat alongside it. We decided to both have toasted teacake with butter and jam. I ordered a pot of Earl Grey Tea and hubbie ordered a coffee. On returning to the table with the receipt I noticed that we had been charged an extra 50p each for jam! Had I realised this I would have just had butter as to be honest I'm not overly fussed about jam. The drinks arrived after around 5 minutes and the waiter said our tea cakes wouldn't be long. Twenty minutes after our drinks arrived the tea cakes finally showed up. We had finished our drinks as we like to drink a hot drink while it is hot! The teacakes were very lightly toasted and barely warm so spreading the cold butter on them was impossible. To cap things off the teacakes themselves were very poor quality. There was a definite lack of sufficient fruit in them, indeed one half of my hubbie's teacake contained only 3 currants! The texture was overly spongy and upon biting into them they squished down to nothing in the same way that cheap white bread does. Not what you expect when you are charged almost £10 for 2 drinks and 2 barely edible toasted teacakes.

My wife and I stopped here to do some last minute shopping as she said she would love an ice-cream and we knew that Brockbushes stocked tubs of Doddingtons which is excellent. As this is an establishment that also has a "Pick your Own" option it has fruit and vegetables for sale aswell as other farm produce. There is also a cafe on the site which is very popular with the seating area packed most days. The menu is quite extensive.

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.
