Dont understand why this place doesn’t have a higher rating, been coming for years and it’s the best chippy in London. Fish and chips in Margate dont taste this good, I dont trust anywhere else. Love you forever BR!

Brockley’s Rock – A Must-Visit Chippy Cycled here from north of the river after hearing great things — and it did not disappoint! Brockley itself feels warm and welcoming, even for us visitors from across the Thames. Before I arrived, five customers were already waiting—always a good sign. The staff were polite and friendly, setting the tone for a great experience. I ordered regular fish and chips with tartar sauce, mushy peas, and curry sauce. Ten minutes later, my food was ready, served piping hot on an unusually warm March Friday (17 degrees!) The portion was extremely generous. The cod was flaky with a perfectly crispy batter, and the chips were top quality. The curry sauce had the right level of spice, and the mushy peas were hot and delicious. The tartar sauce was decent but nothing special I’m afraid to report. I couldn’t finish it all, so I took the rest home—my family was just as impressed. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I was utterly astounded by my wonderful experience here today! I had initially arrived with my friend, not expecting much, but boy was i wrong! We were immediately greeted with the kindest of workers, memorably a fantastic girl with faded pink hair, who was just the epitome of hardworking and inviting - she alone really elevated our experience. I didn’t manage to catch her name, but props to her, what an asset to the business. Not to MENTION the food which feels as though it had legitimately altered my perspective on the value of life. If i tried my hardest i wouldn’t be able to fathom a single flaw, everything was crafted to absolute perfection, and the servings were perfect, really filling. Insane value for money, i couldn’t possibly recommend this place more. We will definitely be visiting again! 10/10

Have always ordered from Brockley’s rock since it opened and it truthfully wasn’t mine or my dads favourite but still the best fish and chips in london. We have ordered 3 times in the last week and it has massively changed its way better now. Sometimes the kids fish and chips the chips can be really really small portion but for the price it’s really good the cod is amazing my dad loves the scampi and the battered sausage are really good. I know people who love the vegan items. I always order from Uber eats and really appreicate when they have money off

Not sure what happened today however the chips was overdone and even a few very burnt ones not eatable. The fish did not taste or look fresh.. Not happy as this is the second time this has heppend to me in a matter of weeks.

Had the haddock, chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. It was alllll amazing, some of the best I have had in years! I was in food heaven, great portion size too. I will 1000% be back.

Top tier fish and chips, always get a takeaway and the batter is even and crispy with the fish very succulent on he inside. Chips are generous and left plain so you can add the seasoning you prefer. They obviously have an efficient system because there is generally minimal waiting time.

So disappointed. We were told delivery was at 7. 7.30comes around and it still isn’t here. I spoke to someone and they literally blamed delivery. What a shame as I’ve always rated this brand. When it arrived it was cold and smelly. Sorry Brockley Rock you have on the whole served us well. Not today and we won’t order again.

I’ve gone to Brockley Rock for years and I’d usually rate highly. Tonight was very busy. I ordered a children’s cod and chips. After 25 mins I asked if it was nearly ready (I had my disabled daughter with me who was getting noisy). I think they said my order “had been crossed-off by mistake”? I think they said it was “being re-done”, but it was hard to hear. The chips we got were very cold. The fish was at least warm (though not hot). No salt n vinegar. A shame as it’s not cheap.

Do NOT get delivery. They do not check what they put in the bag. THREE times they've forgotten my fish??? The delivery has turned up and just been chips. Mind-bogglingly incompetent. And there's never any apology or acknowledgement.

I don’t review very often, on Google or anywhere. But I’ve had one of the best fish and chips (haddock with a side of saveloy, mushy peas and tartar sauce… but of course) and it was bloody brilliant. I tend to avoid ordering fish and chips because I love the meal so much but often it’s a let down… I’m quite particular! But hands down one of the best I’ve had in a very long time. Loved it. Feeling very full and very satisfied. Thanks, keep up the good work. In the infamous words of The Terminator, I’ll be back.

Fantastic fish & chips. The batter was light, not too greasy and flavourful. The mushy peas and curry sauce were also rich with flavour. Arrived still at eating temperature and not soggy after being delivered from over 2 miles away

I’ll be honest, me and my family always enjoy the quality of the food served by this guys no questions asked but on today’s order we had some stuff missing… Food arrived and it was delivered by Deliveroo… driver put his hands inside of the order and simply took whatever he wanted, all ended up In the bin. I’ve reported it and was refunded for the missing items… I don’t want refund but the food to be delivered as ordered on time and fully accounted for. Very disappointing to say the least.

It would be great to see the menu evolve and stay relevant with new, exciting options that could set the place apart even further. While the food is certainly good, I wouldn’t say it’s the best I’ve ever had. It’s reliable and satisfying, but I feel there’s potential for it to be elevated with a bit more innovation. Overall, I enjoy eating here and look forward to seeing how the place develops in the future!

So disappointing. If I could leave a review lower than 1 star I would. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but this is just so disappointing. They say they do vegan food but then fry that in the same oil as the fish. Please be careful if you’re a vegan as they’re vegan food here IS NOT VEGAN! Its such a shame because I used to use this place quite a lot for the kids regardless of their continuous mistakes. On many occasions they would “accidentally” over charge me and on other occasions they would never put salt and vinegar in the chips when I ordered Online (despite me mentioning it in the order notes and even calling up to confirm after ordering). Such a shame.

Loads of gluten free options. They also use a separate fryer. Probably the best gluten free fish and chips in London.

I've only put 4 stars on service as it took nearly twice as long to get the food from what I was told (18 actual 10 minutes told) and it wasn't as busy as other times. The food is great, but by now you already know this. Overall still 5 stars.

Brockley's Rock is a local fish and chips takeaway. They also do other fried fish like calamari and whitebait. If you don't want fried fish you can get grilled fish. There's a takeaway menu of specials. When we went on a Thursday in mid- October the specials were hake, honey-glazed salmon & sweet potato fishcakes and Thai fishcakes. They have vegan and gluten free options! There's a whole vegan menu in fact, including a vegan fish steak. Alongside your fish, "fish" or other non-fish mains you can get various sides. These include the traditional mushy peas and a homemade tartare sauce. The tartar sauce was pretty cheap, much cheaper than the curry sauce in fact. Not sure how much you get though. We saw they had recently been named by a newspaper online as one of the best fish and chips in London. We decided to go and try it for ourselves. We ordered 2 cod, regular chips, a battered sausage and curry sauce. It cost £27. The flavour was nice. The fish is fresh and the batter on point. The chips ok, but were more on the soft side and no crunchy/crispy ones. The battered sausage was not bad, but a little dry inside. The curry sauce was thick and moreish. They have a system where the delivery drivers pick up outside through a window. You can order inside for takeaway or to eat in. They also do orders over the telephone. Ordered cod and chips for collection. Cod was very chewy and stale. Wasn’t fresh at all. Totally disappointed and a waste of my money, had only a little bit and threw the rest away very disappointing not sure what all the fuss is about. Chips were fresh but I could have got chips anywhere. A real shame, will not recommend wasting your time or money

It's not rocket science but it is HIGH quality fish and chips. B Rock is smashing it out of the net, every day. If you build it , they will come. Consistency is 10/10 True Legends in the fish game.

Friends raved about this fish n chip shop to us on our trip to London from Australia! The fish was greasy,and the calamari was like rubber, chips were unpalatable! and the price exorbitant , We get far better fish chips and calamari locally in South Australia at fraction of the price.

Purchased fish and chips recently following reading reviews. Disappointed that the chips do not match the quality of Belgium fries, good British style chips. This shop is supposed to be one of the best in London and probably is, I expected a Belgium friterie in Brockley. At least the shop has not been converted to a pizza joint. Will continue to use as this is probably as good as it gets in London. I

Hands down best fish and chips I’ve had in London. Grilled options and plenty of fish varieties on the menu, solid curry sauce too. Service is speedy despite always being busy. They’ve got the workflow down to a tee.

Best fish and chips in South London by far, as evidenced by the always long queue. But it's definitely worth the wait. The vegan fish steak is also very tasty, so there's something for everyone.

i placed an order on uber for me and my mum, fried cod, battered sausage and a portion of chips. all separate. it arrives with the fish in the box with the chips. i don’t like fish hence why it was ordered as separate items. this is the second time it’s been sent like this. i don’t get if things are ordered separately why do you put them together.

I oderd take away and was so oily, so you can tell they were using an old oil. It was literly inedible. And was expensive. Price-quality ratio maybe for 5£. For that price l recommend fish and chips in london bridge street market. Little bit cheaper, but much more nicer.

I juat ran in to get a portion of chips was £4.95 for.a large which I think is a bit steep! The chips weren't even that great either, I've had much better from less talked about places. Only went here to see what the hype was and glad I didn't buy any fish!

I have no issue with the food provision of Brockley Rock. However, I post this 1 star review of Brockley Rock due to its business support to the 2024 Blythe Hill Festival - an opportunist link without appearing to have done a single word to its organisers to ensure that an understood, park improvement will be delivered within a designated timescale. Really disappointing and you deserved to be 'fried' for this poor decision.

Busy atmosphere but very systematic. The hake is fresh and grilled to perfection. You can request any fish to be grilled. It's worth the wait. Portions are good and the quality is even better. It's not a hidden gem because everyone in Brockley is usually here on a Friday and the weekend! Most importantly service is really good

Waited 40mins for a takeaway order and was given cold grilled fish. It had clearly been cooked 30mins prior. Waiting due to a mistake is one thing but then to be handed out cold food...

Ordered: Fish & chips; salt & vinegar What I got: Fish. No chips, no salt, no vinegar. Absolutely gutted about this. Travelled hours to try this place after all the fantastic reviews. Don’t get me wrong; the fish was fantastic!! But that wasn’t what I ordered. I hope one day I’ll be back in London to try again. The people were lovely, the food is lovely… but what a shame. I’ll gladly amend my review on another go

Went in saturday around 15.00 hrs for plaice and chips returned to my car,the fish batter was soft not crispy,the fish was very watery textured and the chips were slimy and stuck together,have used brockley rock and this was the worst meal i,ve ever had in there ate half of it and threw the rest away.

Husband & son on way home from work decided to try Brockleys Rock this was a Sunday evening, he had heard great things about the food, ordered 3 pies large chips, the chips were dry & looked like they had been there all day, the pies left a film in your mouth, the whole lot went in the bin, can honestly say this was first & last visit

Food is overpriced and over rated, fish is nearly a tenna. Fish and chips in London are terrible, mostly owned by non English who know nothing about real fish and chips. Much better chips to be had on Kent coast and up North. Save your money. How is this comment racist? Only traditional chip show owners know how to cook real fish and chips?

We ordered from delivetoo Cod and Chips..the chips were brown, dry, and not freshly cooked, you know , the ones left at the back that no one wants . i wonder how they can serve chips like that and get away with it .. so disappointing on a Friday night 🌙 the fish was good ... brockley rock has such a good reputation. i wonder if they are very busy that their standards and customer satisfaction and value for money have dropped 🤔 this is the third time this has happened .

I ordered via Just Eat, but couldn’t add feedback as I placed the order as a ‘guest’. The size of the large chips is definitely overpriced for the amount you get. I also ordered spring rolls expecting them to be characteristically small and crispy. However these spring rolls were huge with a thick, soft, chewy batter with a wet vegetable type sauce as the filling which consisted of peas and sweetcorn.

Brockley Rock offers an amazing experience! Their take away services are fantastic, always serving fresh and delicious meals. The staff is friendly and provides speedy service. Highly recommend!

Tried this place for the first time today as sadly Fishy Business in Brockley, which was excellent, has shut down. The batter was soft, and the cod was kind of…chewy. Couldn’t eat it. The mushy peas were nice and the chips were ok, but the fish was really bad. Maybe we got unlucky as the other reviews seem really good. Unfortunately I doubt we’ll try it again.

I have been ordering from here for a few years now . Lately especially on a Friday they don’t seem to be aavailable for orders on Deliveroo or Just eats . I am having to schedule an order on Uber eats, which is slightly inconvenient because of the times available for scheduling. I very rarely find the food, mainly the chips not up to scratch. Sometimes they could be more generous with the large portion of chips and a couple of times in the past the chips could have been cooked a little longer and drained of the oil a bit more but they normally are perfect with crunch on the outside and soft fluffy chip on the inside and some scraps which is my fave . The fish is lovely and the batter crisp . The sausage In batter is very moreish. The calamari is wonderful and that sweet chilli ginger sauce is lush. The curry sauce is very nice . Overall I am a regular customer and will continue to be . They are not cheap but they are far less expensive than that new posh fish shop in ladywell which charge £4 for a sausage in batter !!!!

Yesterday I had a client from New York who specifically requested to drive all the way from Notting Hill to try the best fish and chips in London! After crossing London in rush hour traffic I had to also try for myself. The food was cooked fresh and was absolutely spot on with a generous portion served! Usually I add a little sprinkle of salt and vinegar but this was already done quite satisfactorily. The service received from Eliza and Kyri certainly made my guests experience a most pleasant and memorable one! Very friendly and accommodating. Keep up the good work, many thanks again!

Got cod and chips last night and it's not the first time but the fish was flat no meat didn't fill me up it's was like a £6.50 fish and chips absolutely rubbish and for £13/£14 was well unimpressed won't be going back here fish and chips is fish and chip and if I'm paying £14 I want a piece of fish that's meaty and something that's going to fill me up if it wasn't so late and about to close when I got there would took it bk

Every Friday I use this fish and chip shop… it’s so busy like Clapham Junction Station. I usually get it delivered! Today I was nearby and decided to pick it up myself! It was not too busy about 5.30pm… within 10 minutes I got my order of kids fish and chips twice! Great I thought until I served it! It appeared to be more batter than fish and the edge of the potato… so very crispy! No potatoes or fat chips! Very disappointing today! Usually they get it right! Maybe they put on a better impression for those of us who usually have it delivered? 😢

Whenever I feel like Fish and Chips, I always go to Brockley Rock! I order the same, every time! Rock Small Chips (which are never small, by the way). And 2 not 1 Mushy Peas The Fish is very pleasing, light and Fresh, hmmm, I feel like some right now... The Chips are truly always Fresh and light with a few crackling bits (u know what I mean). Finally, The Mushy Peas, its got great colour texture, and flavour, and I always get 2, because it taste great with my Rock and Chips. Now if that doesn't get your taste buds going, try another great dish only at the one and only, BROCKLEY ROCK. THANK YOU ALWAYS FOR LOOKING AFTER ME @ BROCKLEY ROCK.

Food is always a pleasure to have, but unfortunately service is lacking. Warning to anyone who is ordering online for "collection" - they won't start making your food until you arrive so you're paying just eat/deliveroo/Uber eats for the privilege of standing there. No apologies either. Has happened a few times now and really disappointing.

Fish and chips here are absolutely spot on. You can see why they keep winning awards, bit pricey though.

Really good take away. Kids fish and chips portion is a very good. Down side is you need to pay for sauces compared to other take aways that are free. 35p per sauce.

Fantastic Fish and Chips! The is a lovely place to have your Fish and Chips. The Cod is crispy with very little oil and a thin batter. The curry sauce is absolutely ground breaking and highly recommended. Chips are soft but have a great bite to them. Service was great, please try them with onion vinegar! Strongly recommended- worth the drive.
