Friendly staff. Good selection of drinks. Problem was that only after we ordered the drinks that we were informed that the kitchen was closed due to their chefs not turning up. Very poor. Bad enough the kitchen was closed but not to post this anywhere or not telling us on arrival. A establishment that prides itself with its food should try harder.

I have always found the Broad Street Tavern to be welcoming and friendly. It is one of my favourite pubs in Wokingham. The Broad Street Tavern is a cosy pub with a sun trap garden. The range of drinks is also good as is the food. A common theme at my favourite pubs is a proper landlord/ landlady. They are visible, welcoming and passionate about their business and license. I find that if you treat the staff team at most pubs with respect you get respect and great hospitality back.

Busy , nice outside space but was packed . Younger , rude customers pushing past as quite a small place when ordering drinks. DJ played what he wanted even when he cleared the dance floor totally , never understood that ?! Letchy group of older guys trying to talk . Would return but sit in the garden out of the way .

Beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. Had the most delicious Sunday roast lunch today. We had pork belly with crispy crackerling and the beef was so tender, sliced thin slightly pink! Just perfect for any foodie like me. We ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly like the best home cooked roast dinner. Simon and Lili make a great team and there staff are a credit to them. The pub has a beautifully presented sunny garden and fantastic choice of home made food. Perfect place for families but also great evenings with music and fun friendly atmosphere.

I came to this pub in January 2024 for pub golf with my friends. As its pub golf we were dressed up in golf jumpers and skirts with golf gloves and hats. We came into the pub all fine not making any loud noise and ordered our drinks. Most of table at the back had a sign saying reserved for 6:00pm in which it was 7:15 so we went to check with a lady at the bar if we could sit on any of the tables and she said the back ones are reserved but you can sit on these front ones in which I asked her if she was definately sure and she said let me go check and then she came back and confirmed we could so we placed our drink down. We had already received a few dirty looks from a lot of the women at this pub and one of them also made the unnecessary comment “I don’t get the tennis outfits” in which we ignored as these women were much older and clearly were a bit jealous. They then came over to us saying we can’t sit here and we said the lady at the bar said we could they then got the land lord lady who came over shouting very aggressive not in fact knowing her employee had just said we could sit there. Clearly she saw our age and thought she could treat us in that way even though we are paying customers and the other ladies were being rude to us first. Even when we were talking calmly this women was shouting at our faces despite the fact her other employees saying it was their own fault however she did not listen. I’ve read a few of the reviews on here and can see it’s not just us who’s had this problem and that the customer service here is rude and appalling which is what I’ve read and also agree. A man and a women was also standing there giving me no room to walk past so I turned my body best I could to get past this small gap, my shoulder ended up slightly touching this women in which the man next to her probably in his late 30s pushed me as my back was turned. This should be on cctv And has been reported. The landlord lady didn’t seem to care at all and still carried on to kick us out and let the man who just pushed me enjoy his time there..There is a massive problem with the morals of this pub and I didn’t even get an apology or reassurance that the situation with that man would be dealt with. The landlord lady admitted that she kicked us out cos we were the easiest to as we were doing a pub crawl however I think it was more because of our age. A man also went up to her and said those girls should be kicked out because of the length of their skirts, in my opinion I don’t know why this man is even looking at the length of our skirts and I’d say that’s more of a him problem than it is ours. I hope one day your daughters will do a fun pub golf with their friends and get the exact same treatment as we did. At the end of the day we were a group of 20 year old girls who needed to stick up for themselves as no one else was going to even when one of us had been pushed I was appalled to see no one got involved and just let that horrible man get away with it. Just because we are young doesn’t mean we don’t have our heads screwed on and know what’s right and wrong.

We arrived as a group of 8 (plus baby) with a short notice booking for Sunday lunch and had a superb time. Lily who served us couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming, including with an offer of her daughter's baby sitting services for the future! The food was lovely (most had a roast) - really tasty and massive portions. Lily was so accommodating, offering us suggestions off menu (such as mixing chicken and beef roasts). For new arrivals in Wokingham this was a real find and will definitely be repeated!

We've had a good Sunday lunch now and then at various places but this was exceptional! The food was presented in the style you see on Masterchef and the portions were very generous. We were welcomed by the owner and nothing was too much trouble. A couple of Wadsworth 6X's finished the job of beautifully. I had pork belly and my wife had roast beef. For a little extra we were offered some beef and pork to complement the pork and beef. Will be back without a doubt. We heard about the Sunday roasts here from a friend: "The best in Wokingham" she said. I am surprised at some of the negative comments I now see on TripAdvisor while writing this. Try it......

Came here for an evening catch up with friends over some drinks, was unable to reserve a table in advance but managed to get there early enough to pull a few tables together to accommodate the large group. Two of us went a bit earlier for food, was a little surprised to be informed that the kitchen was closing shortly so we quickly got our orders in. I enquired if it was possible to get a sandwich as the menu said it was only available during lunch hrs which the barmaid said as much but they would make me one, I did think perhaps the menus should specify what those hours actually are as well as last serving times. Prices were very high especially for wine and it seemed a little sneaky having the drinks menu with priced behind the bar of which you had to request and weren't even allowed to keep it once you had ordered, seeing that probably would have changed my decision on a large glass of pinot noir which came in at £15 a glass!

Recently visited Broad Street Tavern for first time in a while. Very disappointed on this occasion. Ordered the Dirty Fries at £11 and received some cheesy fries and some jalapeños. The pulled pork was missing then when questioned this received a pot of cold pulled pork ! Questioned this again and the waitress failed to return despite promising to follow up with kitchen. It could have been so easy to resolve these issues but seems a lack of interest for customer satisfaction. Shame as this used to be a good place.

Visited early evening with our granddaughter as they had a Childers menu that had items she liked only to be informed that children after 6.00 pm as they are primarily a bar not a restaurant which was implying it was a legal requirement. On reviewing it seems more like their own policy and they are making out it is a legal requirement. Whatever the reason why not inform customers on their website etc. before wasting their time going to the pub. On the plus side we found a much better pub to visit who do allow children. Broad Street Tavern now one to cross off the list of places to visit for a drink or meal with or without younger guests as I do not take kindly to being mislead

I have used the Tavern on many occasions over the years, as a meeting point with friends and work colleagues. It has always been a good/enjoyable experience - with friendly and efficient staff and a good atmosphere. Sometimes they also have musical events (tribute groups etc) and they are often very good. In addition to being quite a roomy pub, they have have some open-access side-room areas which are good for a group mix or family get-together, but they also have an open-air rear garden that's nice in suitable weather. I like it! My review is based on many visits over a period of time - and my feedback comments are valid for each of those occasions. I live in Wokingham Borough so I have used the Tavern many times, but my feedback comments as a "local" are likely to be experienced equally by any visitors and travellers.

Recently visited the pub, was such a nice atmosphere but was overcharged - Bill was meant to be £10.90 got charged £109.00 - when I first called up to enquire was told the till balanced but they’d look into it, weren’t too sympathetic though. Kind of felt like it was me who was lying. Chased after the weekend and they confirmed it was an error and since refunded which is good. Just a bit upset they didn’t see how annoying/stressful this mistake is for a student especially at Christmas time, would’ve respected a more sincere apology. So, just a warning to check the payment at busy times but do get mistakes happen.

I've been here on numerous occasions. The staff, drinks, ambience and music has been great. The food is certainly not value for money. i've tried so many of their dishes over the past few years and they really need to re-vamp. The most recent one was: Antojitos - v 4.95- a spicy blend of cheese, chilli, onion and pepper tortilla biteswith pesto. For the amount you get, it's not worth it. I can get a proper burrito in London for that amount, with more flavour. This dish needs some herbs, not just chillis.I really do like this place and I'll often frequent it for the vibe and music but the food is still lacking.

I was handed a bacardi and coke - the liquid almost full to the brim of the glass. All I could taste was syrup, it was unpleasant. I asked the bar person if they would replace it, as I thought the bar person must have been inexperienced to just hand the customer a drink without asking the quantity of coke required. The bar person I spoke to was not the bar person who poured it, however he refused and was rather pleased with himself that he had the power to refuse. My partner and I are managers of a very busy local pub restaurant with upwards of 130 covers each day and today being our day off we called in for a sandwich whilst out shopping. Was very disappointed. My sandwich was very nice and as described on the menu. My partners pulled pork and red onion sandwich contained no red onion, the manager came out to explain that there was white onion in it and not red but this was not flagged up at the time of ordering. The chips (all 25 of them to a £3 portion) finally arrived after we had finished our sandwiches and only after I had to go back into the Bar to find out where they were, after being told twice by the bar staff that they were on their way. It wasn’t even as though anyone had followed us in for food and the kitchen was overly busy. The manager apologised and offered a refund for the chips but could not explain why they arrived so late. All in all a very disappointing meal and not one which i would care to repeat, which is sad given the lovely courtyard garden setting which is not capitalised on.

Went here a few times for lunch or a quick daytime drink. The staff are very friendly and chatty and the food is decent and reasonably priced. The nacho starter with chilli is great. They have baby changing facilities and a couple of areas big enough to house a few prams.

Visited here from a change of scenery decided to have a roast lamb dinner the service was great but not the food it came out cold the portions were not sufficient the lamb was cut into pieces rather than sliced not very appetising at all apart from that a very nice pub with decent people and a fantastic atmosphere

We celebrated New Years Eve here last night. Free entry which is fab compared to many pubs in Wokingham. The bar staff who are always friendly were v efficient and despite the pub being packed, we were always served within minutes. Lovely atmosphere with the live band and a real mix of people. Most importantly, when one of our group had a few drinks too many and was unwell, the staff went out of their way to support and help. One barmaid spent about half an hour helping our friend in the loos and despite having cleared the rest of the pub, they let us stay longer until she could stand. One member of staff (Lily) went out of her way to help, keeping our friend awake, talking her/us through what to do and calling us an ambulance. Thank you to all staff who helped because you must have been keen to get home and away from all of the drunk Wokingham population but you stayed and helped us lots! We'll definitely be back (but some of our group may stick to the soft drinks!!)

Had our work Christmas lunch here last week and wouldn't recommend! The meals were all paid in advance and we had all pre-ordered. So they should have been well prepared. Despite this the service was very haphazard. Several people were left waiting for ages for their Mains which didn't come out until at least 20 minutes after the others, which meant they were left eating on their own as most of the group had finished. Some people also long waits for their desserts to arrive. When I asked the staff about the reason for the delays, I was told they just serve the food and don't get involved with what happens in the kitchen. So no responsibility taken at all, although they did offer a drink to those who had been kept waiting, plus free teas and coffees for the group at the end which was appreciated. The food was mostly ok but it was a case of quantity rather than quality. Christmas Pudding was very strange as it was pieces of pudding served in a sundae glass and covered with ice cream! Overall not really good enough.

I've never experienced such rude staff. 4 people deep at the bar, waited for a long time, was then rudely snapped at to show my ID - I'm 28 but don't mind as I do sometimes still get ID'd - but was driving so I said I'm just going to get a lemonade - the bar lady then shouted me that if I didn't show her ID then I had to leave as I couldn't be at the bar. So I did, she then stamped the back of my hand with a big ugly stamp (this is a pub not a nightclub...) Then later on the same thing happened to my friend (same age) except she didn't have her ID so was asked to leave, one member of staff actually told her to "get out". I'm not objecting to people being ID'd but just the level of agression and rudeness was quite appalling. The staff were literally falling over behind the bar because it was such a mess on the floor with crates and bottles littered everywhere. I am actively telling people not to visit here. Also not pleasant for my friends who were drinking to have to drink wine out of dirty half pint glasses as they didn't have wine glasses left.

Visited here on a Thursday lunchtime. Arrived at 1205 but already some customers in. Place did a steady trade throughout our stay.Whole range of Wadworths beers available. Sampled four of them between us and jolly fine they all were.Food was good. I had Chicken Fajitas which, although not sizzling, were hot. My colleagues had chicken and bacon pie which they said was good too. Main courses were all around the £10 mark, about what I would expect to pay.Staff very friendly and provided good service. The BST is not a plush pub but certainly for a lunchtime it's fine. Would be happy to visit again.

Whilst it has quite a small entrance, it opens at when you get the back. Really good pub, great selection of beers. They even had a live band last night

The pub looks good and if you want to go for a drink is fine but if you want to eat avoid! Food came out ad hoc and we even waited between the first main and the last for nearly an hour. Starters came with mains and food burnt. When we queried the staff were rude to say the least and we heard every excuse from not pre ordering (had pre booked and weren't offered this option) to this is tapas (garlic bread and nachos) to we are too busy and you didn't order it (for which we had written proof of the order).I am sorry to say I won't be visiting again not that I think the staff would be bothered anyway. It is a shame as the band was really good and the pub looked great.

I am not a great fan of the brewey managed pub scenario normally but this pub is an exception to that. The menu is good for bar fayre but more importantly for my wife a proper Gluten Free Menu not just an Allergen book well done Wadworths a major plus. Staff very friendly and food on both occasions was good. Not a cramped pub feel to it either with plenty of space will visit again

This was opened by one of the first lottery winners. For the rest of us, of you win £10 it's a good place to go for some traditional pub food and a pint. The food is great and wholesome. It is a big place with a garden for the Summer. In the centre of town near the bus stops and taxi rank

Friday 5th AugustI haven't been there for a while, although as busy as I'd expect. Bar slow as normal, food server incompetent - couldn't work out what food he was bringing to the table. Burger looks good, although quality of the meat in the burger is very poor for the money. Took nearly 2hrs for table to be cleared by the moody land lady, whilst we listened to the singer/cruise ship cabaret act murder song after song, luckily there was a bit of respite when he put the laptop on. Quality of beer okay, these could be managed better to improve what's provided to the paying customers.

Very good selection of beer eg 6X, swordfish,There was live music which was good and neat thing was sound was quite localised so if you wanted to chat could move away from it and speak easily.Only mistake we made was leaving early to try another pubWill visit again

Great place Much improved Lovely new landlords Would never have gone here before due to it's reputation but heard it was refurbished and had clean beer and glasses and no longer full of unsociable types. A credit to Wokingham If they can get a menu going it will be the making of the place. Regardless, a good place for a drink and a game of pool now.

Very lack lustre lunchtime experience here recently. Sign said wait to be seated… which we followed. Eventually managed to catch a server’s eye and asked where we could sit, to be told ‘you can sit where you like’. The tables were sticky and needed cleaning - not sure why these hadn’t been done as it wasn’t busy. Waited ages for someone to take our order… he really would benefit from some basic training in hospitality skills as these were severely lacking. The food was passable but expensive for what we had. The quiche and salad consisted of a microwaved quiche resulting in soggy pastry - and the salad was more like a garnish - not good value at over £10. Plenty of other better value and nicer eating experiences to be had nearby.

Called in here with my wife, we were staying over the road at the crown plaza hotel, But the prices were high, we were welcomed by a nice man who said he was a manager from head office on day experience, he was very pleasant and helpful, the coffees were good and the food too. Worth a visit on a busy enterprise park

Great breakfast, very fast service, lovely staff in cafe, and outside, very good selection of goods, a lovely place to go. Went last year in may, still a great garden centre.

My wife and I saw an advert on our local community group saying this establishment was doing very good fish and chips for take away. On the group site people were saying this cost £7:50 each for fish&chips but you had to order in advance. My wife wife placed an order and on the other end of the phone it sounded like an old lady taking the order, she was very abrupt and wasn’t listening to what was being asked and just kept talking over what my wife was trying to ask. Anyway we eventually placed our order. When we arrived to pick it up my wife went into the side entrance and went to pay, the old lady was quite rude and said it was £8:50 each, when my wife said that on the local page it everyone was saying £7:50. She just brushed it off and said she didn’t know about that, my wife only had £15 in cash and as we had only ordered for 2 this is all she had. There were dogs running around the area as well not very hygienic. The price appears to change depending on who you are as my wife went back to the local group and the members are still saying they pay £7:50. First and last time using this pub takeaway the fish and chips were a small portion for the price.
