Brixton's Rock in Lambeth

Now let me start by saying I’ve eaten at many Fish & Chips establishments in London and around the U.K, from the streets of Bristol, to the beaches of Kent, this spot certainly comes close to topping the lot. The service is 2nd to none, I don’t know what the servers name is, but he could see what I wanted and needed even before I’d arrived at the door. A cod and chips for £5.00 a pop, if that’s not a bargain I don’t know what is. I always thought a decent Fish & Chips would be £8+ in London, but these guys know how to tempt in a bargain hunter like myself. The fish was fried to perfection, with crispy batter and a fresh fleshy cod fillet which was delicious. The chips were also a real treat, with it coming in at a 9/10, which is truly a marvel I can assure you, not many chippys have achieved that rating. All in all, I would highly recommend Brixton Cod, cracking service, for a good price and unbelievable fried heaven - I’ll be back, I promise you that.

Excellent fish and chips, big portion (5.50 £), fresh and homemade onion rings, fatty and tasty, just as you like. This is a take-away place, but we ask the owner and he gave us forks... Cosy and tasty!

I have just eaten an excellent fish and chips from Brixton’s Cod. Excellent fish, great batter, fresh chips, reasonably priced (£5.50), no drama-Obama! The manager treats his customers with respect and clearly takes pride in his trade. Highly recommended.

Stopped for take out here and was given excellent fish, chips and curry sauce. Budget priced in a special price but excellent quality food. Chips are clearly fried in clean oil and the fish was fresh and lovely. Went back again the next day and got an excellent steak pie. This fish and chip shop offers great food and many meal deals. Well worth a visit!

Dreadful since it changed hands. Not fresh. The man who served me was incompetent. Such a shame as this place was once very good. Friends had warned me the quality had gone down so I thought I’d find out for myself. And it’s true. Really bad. Go to Ollie’s in Herne Hill. They deliver.

My nearest chippie turns out to be one of the best in South London. Fish fried to order, with a very light and crispy batter every time. Chips are fluffy and crispy. Good chicken and mushroom pies (they also have beef but I haven't tried it). The usual saveloys in batter. Proper mushy peas, pickled gherkins and onions. Fresh food takes a little extra time of course and they are very, very popular in Brixton. Good and friendly service in a very clean place. All the locals buy here, to the detriment of the other chippie in the same road and of the kebab place over the road. When a place gets all the trade that would usually go into a kebab house on a weekend night, it must be brill! Lunchtime special menu of fish and chips for £5 is excellent. The same quality, just slightly smaller fish and almost same quality of chips. I don't know how they do it! I don't usually eat chips and they are quite happy to do just fish and peas for me. Once I explained it's because of diabetes, they stopped adding some chips to my takeaway box as a present. Hospitable people!!

We're so disappointed - Brixton's Rock was until recently some of the best fish and chips in London, but last week the food was distinctly average. Homemade tartar sauce has been replaced by heinz sachets, the scampi tasted like they had come from a supermarket freezer, and the chips would had been better if we'd cooked them ourselves (they were missing that distinctive "chip shop" flavour). We also noticed that the previous menu had gone, losing things like fresh unbattered fish for a healthy option. Really sad - we used to love this place...

Definitely one the best chippies in the area. The food took a little while but everything was freshly cooked in front of me. The fish was crispy on the outside and moist in the middle. Perfect

There's not a shortage of fish and chip shops in Brixton but this one has positioned itself above the the rest. Great quality fish, just don't expect the service to be too quick - you can ring beforehand if you don't want to wait. They also do gluten free on a Tuesday!

Never disappointed by the food here, various fish available, cooked to order while you wait, always fresh and tasty. Chips also great which is how I always rate a good chippy, perfect chip shop chips. Great service - very friendly and decently priced.

Freshly fried fish etc. Good quality food and really good service. Can be a little boring waiting for freshly fried food but hey ho. They should offer mini-sized portions for solo purchase at decent prices. A single female cannot get through a whole (albeit small) portion of chips on her own. Sometimes it's a waste of food, money and effort.

Fui a las 2 de la tarde. Me sirven más que la izquierda, sobre patatas fritas, fritos hasta recién. Un buen comienzo. También sirven sus fichas en eco-contenedores amable. Lo mejor de todo, la porción era enorme y las patatas fritas eran crujientes por fuera y esponjosas, y luz en el interior. Hay una oferta de la hora del almuerzo de pescado, patatas fritas y una bebida por un increíble 4 libras. Yo volveremos!

We used to trek over to Herne Hill (Ollies) to fulfill our quarterly hankering for our national dish. We don't need to any more as Brixton's Rock produces just as good fish n chips (and Mushy peas).

Finally a good fish & chip shop in Brixton. All food cooked to order, friendly staff. Clean and friendly placed. Phoned order ahead. Good choice menu you can have your fish fried or grilled.

Nice place friendly staff but prices are extortionate... fish and chips nearly £8 are your having a laugh?! We arent in central London !!!

que he tenido delicioso eglefino y bacalao de Brixton Rock; suculentos pescados, recién preparada, con patatas fritas no ahogando en grasas (como muchos lugares a los que nombre). Muy recomendable. Ten cuidado, las raciones son enormes - para dos, sólo necesitas uno. Pero ¡qué delicia poder encontrar una muy buena Chippie a poca distancia a pie.

Una comida de calidad, pero hoy me sirvió una mujer muy grosera que se encargaba. cuando recoger mi pedido me di cuenta dos cosas que faltaban. lo mencioné al personal y la mujer que estaba en el hasta dijo "no te pide que Babe" y sabiendo que no me discrepado, y mantuvo diciendo "No pedir Babe" en un tono muy desagradable. El otro miembro del personal Por suerte mi pedido en el ordenador y me di cuenta que era justo. Podría haber salimos de la tienda sin mi pedido que pagué por. Tuve que esperar otro miembro del personal para comprobar la para demostrar que era justo - atroz. Su actitud era tan horrible hacia mí otros clientes en la tienda estábamos viendo esto también. Pero la comida es estupenda y el resto del personal ha sido genial.

He estado en roca de Brixton 4 veces en varios meses, y CADA vez había dos chicas detrás del mostrador que actúa como fue la primera día trabajando allí. El otro Uno preguntando cómo utilizar el hasta; no están familiarizados con los productos; no cerraba la caja cerrada; muddling hasta los pueblos" en los pedidos. Buena comida, aunque, con la excelente opción de pescado a la parrilla para aquellos que no quieren pasta.

Had some tasty gluten free fish and chips last Tuesday evening from Brixton's rock! Would definitely recommend :)

Fue una grata sorpresa al ver como un aspecto moderno para llevar en acre Lane y no me decepcionó después de mi visita. El personal era muy amable, y me encantó la idea el pescado estaba preparado a pedido. Este coste adicional Cod grande era de lejos el mejor bacalao que hemos probado en años cocinado a la perfección y no grasa en al y las patatas fritas igual de bueno. No locales como me habría gustado para nosotros, pero sin duda merece la pena el viaje. Sigan con el buen trabajo Rock de Brixton.

No volveremos. El abadejo estaba sobre cocido. Mi torta de carne era calentados, así que la pastelería era pasada (Derr) e incluso entonces estaba tibia. Los Scampi era simplemente THW patatas fritas y buena, pero deberían de ser la parte relativamente fácil. ¿Cómo fue esa Fayre ganar premios en Brockley? Quizás mejor atención al detalle.
