Held my daughter's baby shower in the conservatory- very happy with service, food and patience of the staff 😀 We arrived 30mins early to decorate how we wanted Definitely recommend- I had lemon chicken and crumble for pudding which did not disappoint

Fantastic food & cocktails, great atmosphere & good service. Waitress came to apologise for our wait for food as there had been a problem in the kitchen & offered complimentary desserts to make up for it. They dealt it with it really well.

Usually love coming however last 2 times we have been always Sundays we've been disappointed it's not been very busy which will add is very unusual. Took over 15 minutes to bring us menus / drinks orders so we went to the bar our selves. starters came not going to lie huntsman pie is always my favourite so no complaints as always. After almost an hour our mains came The pie not sure what happened last 2 times the crust could have broken teeth which is sad as usually they're amazing and I don't no what's wrong but the cauli cheese we ordered as a side didn't come both times and there's no staff there to ask when your sat out of the way in a corner also not really wanting to fuss. (Yes I'm aware this sounds fussy) The girl who served us bless her was run ragged as she seemed to be doing every order and all the serving even though there did appear to be plenty of staff at the bar area ( again I don't know everyone's roles so can't judge)

Arrived around 5.30pm on a fairly quiet wed evening for a ‘quick’ meal. Ordered 1 peppered steak pie & 1 ‘creamy chicken & leek’ pie fairly quickly. Over an hour later our food arrived, I thought this was a pretty excessive amount of time considering how quiet this large pub was. I cut into my pie to discover it was chicken & veg, including peas which I don’t eat. It was then explained there had been a mix up between the kitchen & front of house & that there was no chicken leek pie tonight! Husband by this time has nearly eaten his meal & I’ve had to order something different. I was told my burger would be 6-7 minutes … husband finished his meal & mine didn’t arrive for nearly 10 minutes after! There was no real apology & no offer of anything off the bill. Very disappointed to say the least. I visit True North pubs pretty regularly & have never experienced this level of service before. Very disappointed & it has spoilt what should have been a pleasant hour or 2 out!

Came here for Christmas Eve lunch and the food was absolutely amazing, best meal I've had in a really long time everything was so flavourful and piping hot. Definitely worth the money we were totally stuffed at the end and such a lovely atmosphere, lovely way to spend Christmas Eve!

Booked a table in the 'tap room area' ad the main restaurant was full. Ordered at the bar which was fine, although the gurl serving us was unable to answer any questions about kids menu. Food took ages to come, and when it did they had forgotten one of the kids peas. I chased this up but they took so long to come the rest of us had finished. Same with condiments, only arriving 10 mins after the food. Food was OK but nothing special, service was poor. I only live round the corner but this reminded me why it had been so long since I last ate here, and why I tend to go to craftworks if wanting a drink locally.

Booked a table this evening with my husband and dog. On arrival having checked earlier that it is dog friendly we presented ourselves at the bar. The bar is an area with a tiled floor. We were then handed menus and told to sit where we wanted down the steps into the "tap" room area. We had booked a table, were not shown to this. No table had reserved on it! Everytime the door opened it was freezing. I had dressed for having a nice relaxing meal and several glasses of wine. DONT offer yourselves as a dog friendly eatery if your not! We booked in last minute. Ordered the pie roast which was one of the best pies I have had, veg was cooked to perfection and really tasty and good old hendo's to go on our pie. Dessert I had apple and ginger crumble with custard just one word wow!! My husband tasted it has he had one in another pub last week and said it topped that by far. Hubby had sticky toffee pudding, good size portions and very nice. Service excellent.

We went in today for the Sunday lunch as it was a special anniversary, the food was cold, I had to find a waitress she took the food bk to the kitchen 5 mins later she bought the food bk it had been microwaved and was soggy and dry we couldn't eat this as it was awful, we were offered a free drink or dessert but refused this and left.

The best fish and chips EVER! I would recommend everyone to go, you will not be disappointed! Great environment. Great staff.

Came today for the first time for as only had drinks before Sunday dinners was beautiful quite clear it was all fresh and homemade. All the other food coming out looked lovely can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. The British Oak is a great restaurant to catch up with friends, eat with family, or a relaxing date. First of all, there are many places to sit, including outside seating, in a gazibo, and inside seating. The menu is not very limited. There are many choices to choose from and the prices are very worth it. The toilets are hygienic and comfortable. Only think I didn’t enjoy about this was how busy it got. It wasn’t bad but it was loud. The food is scrumptious and totally worth the prices. I like how they place events now and then here at the British oak. Overall, I would highly recommend this pub/restaurant. 😁

Booked for Monday bank holiday lunch, wasn’t too busy which was surprising but they normally close on a Monday so maybe customs presumed it was closed. Nice local country pub with helpful staff. I had the beef pie with chips, mushy peas and gravy at £12.95 which was all delicious, filling and tasty.

Been here for Sunday lunch as a family and excellent! Went on a Friday night as a family of 4 and all had burgers.2 meat and 2 quorn.All came with french fries and mixed leaf salad.We all said the best burgers we had ever had! Desserts are amazing. Our tennagers had choc brownie which was very large portion with ice cream. I had biscoff cheesecake which was so lovely. Staff lovely and attentive but not overly which is good. In all my days of eating out (and there has been many), iv never come across a restaurant with staff that are so pleasant and attentive. From arriving for our 8pm booking to leaving we felt we had preferential treatment. Brett & kelsey were amazing. Well done guys. See you soon.

Was fancying some proper English fish n chips so me and the missus decided to make a trip down to the British Oak. Booked ahead n got a table with no issue.Arrived n was greeted by the staff straight away, they continued to stay smiley throughout the meal. Tasted the prawn cocktail starter - no complaints! Was impressed by how fresh n tasty the fish was with such a generous portion. Will be recommending to friends and family.

Staff were able to accommodate us with a last minute booking and gave excellent service throughout our meal. My wife had the belly pork which was melt in the mouth while I enjoyed the vegetarian curry. Throughout staff ensured we were enjoying our food and served drinks when glasses were almost empty. Enjoyed our food so much the other day that we've booked in for Mother's Day! The menu has plenty of vegan and vegetarian options for my sister. Greeted by cheery faces throughout. My wife and I met friends who live in Mosborough, at the British Oak, for lunch. Our friends were totally unaffected by the food they ate and we had eaten at the same place on several previous occasions, and really enjoyed the fare. With this in mind we were staggered when we both had simultaneous, violent attacks of food poisoning that lasted 48 hours and more. I was served a pan-fried duck breast, that should be pink, but on reflection, was red - I should have sent it back to be cooked longer, but the chef should not have allowed that piece of meat to cross the "pass". My wife ordered Fish & Chips, but said nothing about it, at the time. However, by 0200 on Friday, my wife was vomiting and the same fate hit me at 0600 Friday - just the sort of timings that fit with food-poisoning. It was only when my wifw and I discussed these events, that she said, "Oh, my fish was stone cold in the middle." Was this a piece of frozen fish that had not been properly cooked? Frozen food is a major source of listeriosis, one of the earliest recognised forms of food poisoning, if it is not fully cooked. Does the chef at the British Oak have proper qualifications? I don't know, but I will not be returning to try out his cuisine again, very sadly.

Last 2 visits been poor against usual high standards. Last time we went we had Thai chicken burger which was just a chicken burger nothing Thai about it really. This time we opted for pies, chicken curry pie which was so bland and a steak pie which had slices of beef in rather than chunks which was a bit weird. Service was similar on both visits, staff all over you for first 30 mins offering drinks even though we had full ones but when empty they don’t bother. Asked for dessert menu and it never came....then had to go to bar to pay and order more drinks as nobody serving us. Genuinely disappointed as we love the True North pubs usually.

Came in for lunch had the pie and dish deal, food was exellent, taste and well seasoned with chunky home made chips and mushy peas, the staff had great menu knowledge, quick and atentive too our needs, great job just what a local need to be.

We went for Sunday lunch end of January 2020. I ordered chicken breast, it was awful, like a lump of wood. the vegetables were raw. Sent it back and went home and cooked. Ruined the day.

We visited 2nd February 2020 for a family meal. As it was my son and granddaughters birthday. There was 9 of us. The food was luke warm. One sent back as they couldn't eat it like that. The chicken was over cooked. The Big daddy meal only had beef on. Instead of beef pork and chicken. This took ten minutes to come out after the other meals. Including the one that was sent back. The beef was tough. The meal sent back was just microwaved. Not acceptable. We asked for extra gravy. We got sent the tiniest jug. Asked for mint sauce and apple sauce twice. This came as some had finished their meal. I would not recommend or visit again. Terrible food and service. 2 kids carton drinks cost £2.40Each. One pint of beer and a diet coke was just under £10.00. A complete Rip off.

Booked a table for 3 for a meal. Ordered the pork belly with crackling and crispy leeks, which arrived without crackling and crispy leeks, and the pork belly was tough and nearly all fat. Disappointed as the food here has always been lovely but unfortunately that was not the case on my last visit. Will be giving the food a miss here for a while.

One meal was cold (sunday roast) and another one of our partys meals came out 10 minutes later ( big daddy roast) with only one meat instead of all 3. Came for Christmas 2019 at the 3pm sitting. It wasn’t until 4:35pm that a lukewarm main course arrived. I wasn’t at all impressed, especially considering we had paid £65 for the pleasure of a meal which was distinctly average. Even the dessert was a let down, the chocolate tart was rock solid and ended up flying over the plate when I was trying to break it up. Really disappointed by this.

Visited this evening for a last minute get together with friends. Wow!!! amazing atmosphere, excellent customer service, staff extremely friendly and very smiley. The food was delicious all round, very generous portions. Will recommend to family and friends. We will be back soon.

Went on Sunday, not happy with what I saw dogs sat on the seating as usual but to top it off a couple came in with there dog and placed it on the table to lie down..... the tables are not wiped once cleared so someone would be eating around that table.... Nooooooo sorry not for me had enough of this, will be spending our £50+ else where in future up or down the road without a smelly dog next to me.

Every time we come there is always a issue. Either not taking food orders or there’s a huge wait on it weather we book a table or not. The staff are rude. They refuse to tweek the menu i.e change chips for potato’s etc. Such a same because the atmosphere is always great and the Sunday lunch is great.

Hasta hace poco comencé a escuchar buenos informes, así que decidí intentarlo de nuevo. Estábamos celebrando el cumpleaños de mi esposa y nos llevamos a mis padres ancianos y a mi hija y esposo. El ambiente era cálido y acogedor. La verdadera cerveza y las opciones de bebidas eran geniales, especialmente el menú de ginebra. El servicio fue amable e informativo. I wanted to sample some English fish and chips and was taken to The British Oak by local friends. The atmosphere from the moment we walked in screamed 'olde world charm' in the nicest possible ways. Exposed beam ceilings, lots of serious timber furniture, quirky artwork and fabulous-looking bar. Jake, our super-friendly bartender was an absolute gem. He was chatty, helpful and great fun. I got my fish and chips which were amazing! The chunky chips are more like elongated baked potatoes and tasted great. The fish was perfectly cooked with a crunchy batter outside and the mushy peas added to the experience. The beer was OK. I opted for a local 'Blonde' brew but it was just average. If you are passing by or don't mind a little excursion, visit The British Oak Ale House in Sheffield.

Buena comida excelente servicio amable. Estaba solo para bebidas y una cena, ahora puedo mezclarlo con los más duros y difíciles, pero los muchachos que se paran en el bar varias noches a la semana usando un lenguaje obsceno en la parte superior de las voces no son propicios para un pub familiar, que The British Oak pretende ser, un pub familiar para cenas. Needed somewhere to go because it was too hot to be bothered cooking. The usual chain pubs were all heaving we chose the british oak. We have 4 kids between 7 and 9 and hoped for somewhere with a play area which unfortunately this doesn't. It does have an open space away from the car park with benches and nooks and crannies that the kids hopefully would be happy with so off we went. The team were really accommodating with fitting us in even though they had full house shortly after we got there. Drinks and food ordered and we just relaxed untill it all arrived. The kids were happy exploring outside and the adults kept in the shade with cool drinks until the food was here and it just worked nicely. 2 hours flew by and we settled the quite reasonable bill and left. Definitely will be going back as it was good value and the kids were happy.

Rubbish Oakstock festival this year with no pizza 🍕 option!!! Toilets and bar constantly packed. People were sneaking their drinks in which I can understand because of large queues taking 30 mins to get served.

Food was really good especially the burger but just felt that even when it wasn’t that busy service was quite slow, I wanted to write something because there was a few members of staff behind the bar but we had to wait a while to be asked for drinks and then take our food order so that was a little annoying but having said that me and the wife enjoyed our food.

We come to the British Oak quite often when we fancy something that bit nicer to eat, and it generally doesn't disappoint.

El personal es muy amable, la comida es excelente y la decoración y el ambiente recuerdan a los buenos pubs de estilo antiguo. Tampoco están sirviendo comida debido a que el personal no puede hacer frente o no ser grosero. No permitirán que el menú sea ajustado. Pedí cambiar mi plato de pollo de un lado de risotto a papas. La joven estaba contundente y se negó a dejar al pobre joven detrás del bar avergonzado. Ella es irrazonable. Sé que esto es posible porque lo he preguntado antes y no fue un problema, pero hoy parece que ella tiene un problema masivo con la actitud. Nunca tenemos un problema en los otros pubs del mismo propietario solo este.

We go in here most Sundays (our Local) just for a drink but we stay in quite a long time and spend as much money as if we were having a meal with drnks.

Visited on a very busy Saturday night as a party of 5 with a reserved table. The waiting staff did a fab job of dealing with all our food questions and made sure further drinks were served as needed. All the food was excellent too which made for a great night out. Well done to the hard working and friendly staff

We were there for a party some time ago. This place has a large selection of ales and pilsner all well kept . I can’t comment on the food as we had a buffet which was good but not the normal menu.

Second visit in a month . Well worth the visit. The pies are amazing with traditional mushy peas . There with family and friends and both times everyone's meals looked appetizing. Recommended.

Met up with some friends who live nearby so this is their local. Friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of local real ales. Food ok but nothing exceptional for the price.

We love the British Oak, I love the cocktails great choice to be had. My other half likes the lager but plenty other choices of real ales, beers and spirits. The food is nice as well Good prices and good choices
