Visited the farm shop today for lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Friendly efficient service and lovely atmosphere. Steak and ale also chicken, bacon and leek pies served with veggie mash and gravy were excellent. Loose leaf tea in a pot was a real treat. Would definitely highly recommend.

Lovely setting but unfortunately the member of staff serving was unfriendly and lacked customer service skills. Cakes didn't look fresh ( served on Monday and they are not open on Sunday!!! ). My daughter ordered coffee cake which was warm ( freshened by putting in a microwave !!). No sugar and forgot tea strainer. Poor attitude when serving the tea etc at the table. When deciding what cake to have - told to stand aside in order to serve next customer. Shop closes at 3 o'clock and waitress told us at 2.50 told quite bluntly , we are closing now need to go !!! Unfortunately quite rude Have visited britford farm on a few occasions but will look elsewhere in future.

We do like to celebrate Valentine’s Day; because, after the Christmas and New Year festivities, there’s just nothing ‘happening’; at least until the weather improves! Valentine’s Day is just about the only occasion, in the depths of winter, that give’s us a reason to dine-out; it drives us to brave the elements and have a little fun. This year we decided we would have the best part of a couple of days away in Bournemouth; including a one-night stop-over. Our journey-down took us through Salisbury and onto the A338. Due to a road closure we sat for quite a while in a traffic jam on the Salisbury ring-road, so we resolved to stop at a Farm Café and get an early lunch; seeing the sign we pulled-in. Our immediate impression as we walked-in was that it was welcoming, it was bright and cheerful with a good display of produce to eat-in and take-away, including some fancy-goods as the farm-shop genre often stock. It was certainly busy and tables were at a premium; untaken tables bore ‘Reserved’ signs. There was a lady (the owner?) literally buzzing-around clearing-away plates from contented-looking diners, taking-orders and serving-food, as well as manning the servery. She barely acknowledged us (a “… be with you in a moment” would have sufficed and been much appreciated). So, there we stood wondering what the procedure was; should we go to a table and wait for table service, wait to be seated, queue and order food, or return to our car? Signage would have helped. Fortunately the owner soon reappeared and my Partner hailed her as she passed us, and asked “What’s the format here please?” We were hurriedly asked to find a free-table, then return to the servery to order food and/or drinks. We did find a large table (for six) that was free and unreserved, but needing a wipe, but we sat-down there. We studied the menu and we decided on a warm snack each and a pot of tea for two; my Partner returned to the servery and ordered. A few minutes later the owner reappeared at our table and, at the behest of my Partner, wiped-it down explaining that a party of children had last used it. So far it was not a great experience and it got worse, but fortunately not for us. A couple of ladies sat on an adjacent table for two, obviously waiting for food that they had already ordered. The owner appeared and apologised to them for the food-service delay; explaining that their order had not been “put into the kitchen” in error. To be fair the customers didn’t complain and seemed to understand. Apparently (we overheard) a senior staff member (possibly a partner in the business) had been away with an illness, but had today popped-in to confirm she was “on-the-mend” and would be returning to work soon. The overheard conversation indicated that this was a three-person team and that ‘Richard?’ was alone in the kitchen and working full-tilt. Now we understood, and served to illustrate that this was not the usual experience here. Our pot of tea soon arrived, with a tea-strainer … ah loose-leaf tea … promising. We both like really strong tea so we let it steep. The pot was big but not full, and when we did get to it the tea was very good; however the pot only yielded about a moderately-sized cup and a half each (which was slightly disappointing). The food was really good, we both had chosen the sausage roll snack; which arrived with a side-salad of colourful and flavoursome leaves and halved cherry tomatoes, also a potato and apple in mayonnaise salad and a small pot of Kashmiri pickle (one our favourite accompaniments). The meaty sausage roll was excellent with really flaky pastry; for us definitely home-made or if it wasn’t then where can I order some? It was a great snack, attractively served and all eaten. We did ‘do dessert’ by the way of a shared portion of apple cake with a large dollop of whipped fresh cream. This was really excellent cake with a wonderfully deep cinnamon favour. It was easily enough to be shared; not shared for any-other reason than we had planned a really extravagant dinner in Bournemouth that evening, and wanted to ensure we were going to be hungry. Tables were embellished with a small spray of fresh flower cuttings: Pussy Willow, Stinking Hellebore, Summer Snowflake, Goat Willow and Peruvian Lily; this really showed a bit of imagination and effort, much appreciated. I wish this business all success, the place was full by the time we left and therefore it’s getting good custom, it serves really good fare but, at a tad over £35, it was not a cheap snack. The quality however was extremely good.

We stopped here for lunch in June 2023 while on the way to Salisbury. We had seen their sign on the road and decided to give it a try. The entrance to the farm shop café isn’t entirely clear as the right hand side of the door and the handle are obstructed by a climbing plant. There is a fairly steep ramp on entry which flexed a bit under my 12 stones. Once inside, it’s quaint and quirky. We took a look at the menu and liked the look of the quiche/savoury pastries which were around £7. We were asked if we wanted salad and we said yes – for £7 you would expect a side salad I think. We ordered one each and two small bottles of water at about £2 each. When the bill of £31.50 was presented I was aghast. The menu layout was IMHO very poor. What was unclear and not explained was the salad was about another £7 each. The quiche/savoury pastry were very good and the salad large, well prepared and filling. The service was friendly. The toilets are outside, along the side of the building then each cubicle is up two fairly steep steps. I didn’t see any accessible toilets. All in all, worth a try but beware the menu and it is quite pricey.

Wow! Discovered this whilst undergoing treatment at Salisbury Hospital. This gorgeous place is 5 mins drive away. Went in today on a freezing day. The fire was on. We took the dog and my daughter is a wheelchair user. Easy to access. Friendly and welcoming. The grandfather clocks chiming. Could have stayed for hours as we were so relaxed. So many cakes to choose from and no idea where to start. Also came home with some honey.

Needed a special Birthday cake for my daughter, as she actually makes them herself. I remembered the fantastic chocolate cake I used to sell when working in Snells many years ago and found out this farm shop actually makes them still! Decided to have a coffee when picking up the cake and we really enjoyed our experience. The coffee shop is small but cosy and it was beautifully warm on our visit, with a log burner going. Really friendly staff who served us lovely coffee, tasty crumpets and toast, the bread was delicious. There is not a big breakfast menu but the lunches that started to come out as we left looked great. It appeared to be very popular and we look forward to returning for lunch.

A planned stop en route to the New Forest. We just wanted a lite bite. The menu had lots for ~£12 that came with salad. We went for soup, pate and savoury pastries, all £7 each. Seemed a bit pricy for the pastries. The pate was the whole jar, so very generous portion. Staff friendly and a popular spot.

This is a lovely tearoom just outside Salisbury and is well worth visiting. They have a lovely selection of cakes and a good lunch menu and a selection of teas. I was told the coffee was really good. We’ve visited Britford Farm Shop before, so returned knowing they serve good food. On this occasion, we turned up at just gone 2pm; very close to their “last orders” time. Nevertheless, they still served us a hot lunch, which was very tasty. We didn’t feel rushed either, even though they close at 3pm. Excellent service. Thank you.

Five winter walks out to Britford, swinging by this Farm Shop in rural location on my way back to Salisbury. Stopped mid-morning each time for excellent hot chocolate, rich and sweetened to your taste (my preference minimally). The best home made mince pies I have found at a cafe this season, generously served with whipped cream. Couple beside me said they went there often as no Muzak, an atmosphere I favour too. Highly recommended, though note the limited opening hours…

We travel from Windsor to Odstock hospital a couple of times a year and a visit to the nearby Farm Shop Cafe is something to look forward to. Today the appointment at the hospital took a very long time so as the driver I took advantage and had a morning coffee and then afternoon tea there before the long slow journey home. The staff really looked after us today and went to a lot of trouble to make sure we were comfortable and well fed. Thank you so much. See you next time.

If you are a fisherman you will know about Britford - a famous fishery on the Hampshire Avon just below Salisbury. If you are not then a trip to the farm shop is nearly as good. Friendly staff in a most traditional setting and lovely tea and cakes. I had an enormous piece of retro black forest gateau accompanied by a glass of kirsch with cherries in it - decadent but slightly worrying for drivers.

Lovely atmosphere and tasty food! I had to order ahead as I was on a work lunch break so short on time. They didn’t seem ideally setup for this, but to be fair food didn’t take long at all after we arrived. Food was amazing quality and freshly made (only gripe was my pie was a tad small). When we ordered pudding we were told we’d have a long wait as there were customers waiting before us, even though all it took was to put a slice of cake on a plate and let us walk out with it.. Some wasps in the orchard, but not much that can be done about that. Told they don’t do cooked breakfast which feels like a missed opportunity (they don’t open till 10:30am and it’s not a working farm anymore apparently). Got told off when bringing my tray back (trying to be helpful), as apparently you take it round the side; appreciation for the effort and a gentle suggestion would have been nice. Generally a lovely visit and took advantage of the eat out to help our so got it half price, therefore can’t complain too much. Some tweaks to allow online table booking and food ordering, and instant handing out of simple desserts (with slightly more gracious attitudes from staff), and it would be 5 stars!

Mi amigo y yo fuimos a dar un paseo por el camino para visitar esta pequeña joya. A 5 minutos de Salisbury está escondido del bullicio y el tráfico. Un establo de librea con tienda de la granja y salón de té. Fuimos a almorzar.

If you want t to experience the very British afternoon tea, or pop in any time of day for a snack you will be glad you made the effort. Just off A338 from Salisbury in a small village farm based café/deli. Excellent upmarket produce. Table inside and outside including in the orchard. Friendly staff a little dizzy but part of the charm and ambience. Not cheap so a bit special outing or treat to take home. Closed Sundays and bank holidays.

We stopped off en route to Bournemouth and were seriously impressed. It was 2.30 on a Saturday afternoon but were told that we could still have a lunch. It's not big but it was full and we managed to get the one remaining table. From the moment we entered until we left, the service was first class. Amiable staff who entered into conversation and seemed generally interested in us.And now to the food. Well, it is homemade style and much better than you get in the supermarket. I had a beef and stilton pie with salad. It was delicious. My wife had haddock chowder which got her seal of approval. On display are other goodies and we decided to share a slice of chocolate cake which was moist and just right.Available to buy were various jars of pickles and chutneys. Also in the freezer section were upmarket ready meals. The quality was top class in every area.We know where we will be stopping for lunch on our next trip to Bournemouth.

We stopped here on the fly as we were heading to Bournemouth to grab some lunch and it was wonderful. Just off the main road this is a lovely farm shop surrounded by fields and horses. It is small with seating for around 20 people I estimate, but the quality of food and service sets it apart. All of the food was of a very high standard and the staff were very friendly, including offering free chocolate eggs to our kids as a treat! Definitely worth stopping here rather than at some fast food or services!

The selection of speciality teas is wonderful! I intend to visit regularly and try the lot!! The staff are so very friendly and helpful , and the food is lovely, it is a pleasure to look forward to revisiting. The only downside is the lack of disabled toilet facilities, but the staff were exceptionally helpful on a previous occasion , when my sister, who has MS, and I came for lunch. I can thoroughly recommend this place, it's fresh ,clean, beautifully decorated and quaint.

Do not expect Britford Farm Shop to sell farm vegetables but it does offer the most delicious range of chocolates, cakes, and other epicurean foods. We have had lunch there regularly. Homemade quiches, smoked duck, warming homemade soups, and those cakes (!) tempt even those on the strictest diet. Once the difficult choices are made, the food arrives remarkably quickly and it doesn't disappoint. It is wise to book for lunch as the dining room is small and deservedly popular.Robert, the chef, also offers the opportunity to order his creations for you to take away; just the thing for a family party when you do not want to be tied to the kitchen. Well worth a visit, either to shop or to eat.

Met friends for lunch-the food is the very best home cooked using local produce. I am a vegetarian & had a wonderful quiche [there were lots of interesting options] with a very good salad with great dressing and excellent chutney. Around the table the meat eaters had different meals, all the food came together, piping hot . Home made soups and a wide range of cakes and deserts were on offer. The prices were reasonable for such high quality food. The dining area was not huge so booking might be advised if with a large party, at peak times however there is a large attractive garden with tables and a view of Salisbury Cathedral spire. A great place for a high tea as well.

We found this place on the edge of a most idyllic village yesterday afternoon. The October sun was shining and there are several tables to use outside in a glorious setting but we opted to sit inside the charming cafe. Business was booming, all staff stretched with high demand. Every one of the staff was smiling despite the pressure they were under to provide an excellent service. We enjoyed waiting for our delicious food, watching people at the counter trying to choose which gorgeous cake or savoury item they would eat from the many available oh and the handcrafted chocolates - perfect. Our order of cream teas and Dorset apple cake with an enormous helping of whipped cream arrived with smiles. The clotted cream was perfect, and the portions so generous we bought extra scones so we could use it all. Proper tea served in China pots too. We bought slices of divine home-made quiche to take home for supper and we couldn't leave without a cone of the lovely home-made ice cream. I like to think I'm a cream tea connoisseur having spent many a Sunday afternoon searching for the perfect scone and cream in Dorset Devon and Cornwall. Now I have found it and only an hour from my home, I'm delighted.

This is a (small) cafe rather than a farm shop. 6 friends visited for lunch. We booked in advance as there are only a limited number of tables. Most of us ordered salads of one sort or another and these, though pricey, were actually tastier than I had expected. My smoked chicken was good. One friend had quiche which was a overdone. She did point this out but was told that was the colour of the quiche. To be fair it was a dull coloured quiche but it was actually burnt on the edge. It was served with relies/pickle, not even a salad leaf in site. At nearly £6 for a slice of quiche that is a bit steep. There wasn't much choice for dessert. I shared a carrot cake with a friend. It was disappointingly dry.The coffees were ok.The service could definitely have been better. We asked 3 times before we got extra water and 3 times before we got an extra plate. I did buy a jar of the spicey tomato relish, which I had enjoyed on my salad. However, I did notice that the pack of 6 rolls on sale for £2.99 had mould in them!I probably wouldn't recommend this to friends.

I was looking for somewhere different to have lunch following shopping in Salisbury. I would agree that it is not a farm shop where people can buy fruit and veg but thats may be to come as there is a lot of work being carried out on the surrounding buildings including thatching a barn.I was pleased to see that there is presently no childrens playground although there is outside picnic area. So a quiet time was in order. I do have grandchildren but I feel there are enough places that pander to the small people already. The cafe as I really think it should be named is situated on a retired farm with a couple of holiday cottages in the farmyard. We chose to eat in as the day was rather hot.We sat for a while as there appeared to be no notice as to whether it was table service or not. Eventually we did order and then we found the staff very friendly. We echose home made lemonade to drink which was excellent and arrived swiftly. My meal was trout salad, really lovely and fresh. My husband had a meat pie which was also very good. This was followed up by the home made rum and raison icecream. Delicious. You must try this.I would say that this is not the cheapest place to eat but if you wish to experience something a little different whilst within easy reach of Salisbury this is great place.Unfortunately we forgot to bring a cold boax so didn't try the chocolate. Shame.Afterwards we had a quiet stroll down to the village of Britford near the river and looked in the church. I have to say this wassuch a nice thing to do on a sunny afternoon.

Since moving to this side of Salisbury we have been frequenting Britford Farm Shop for a coffee and a slice of cake regularly. Both, of which, are lovely! The staff are always incredibly friendly and the homemade cake selection is always vast.Today we also picked up a couple of ice creams for the children, which they loved. We haven't stopped for lunch yet, but the quiche's, pies and sausage rolls always look great.. They are next on my to do list. There are also a few bits and bobs you can pick up (crackers, flour, chutneys etc). It's got parking and is a great spot to stop on your way in or out of Salibury.

The following is (in the scheme of things) trivial, however, not very happy with this farm shop. Went to the farm shop and had 2 still homemade lemonades (small glasses) and one scoop of ice cream in a cone. Total price? A staggering £7.70. I have no idea how this breaks down, however, assuming £2.50 for the ice cream (comparing to hand made chocolate shop in Salisbury) the lemonade came to £2.60 each! More expensive than coffee, tea etc. ridiculous pricing won’t be back. (Oh and cone was cracked so rather than being given a fresh cone, the cracked cone was placed inside a new cone. Was asked if ok and was too stunned to say no).

On the road south of Salisbury, en route to Lover (place: not person!) and looking for a somewhere to get a lunch-time bite to eat, we saw the sign for "farm shop" and "lunch". Glad we did.Lovely little shop / café in a very pleasant location with animals in the adjacent fields. The staff were most friendly and helpful and the service was very good. We enjoyed our lunches from a varied menu and I would thoroughly recommend the mushroom pie with bubble & squeak. Reasonable prices for the meals but the price can rise if you partake of the delicious cakes, slices and chocolates. All very tempting and, of course, we gave in to that temptation. Delicious.

Like other reviewers, totally disappointed when we arrived to find it wasn't a farm shop! We were expecting to buy local bacon, sausages, some veg and cheeses, so very disappointed to find at tea room! Having said that, we thought as we were there we would have a pot of tea and slice of cake - marvellous! Great choice of cake. We also had a look at the menu, looked good and reasonably priced. Great to be able to sit outside too. Did start eyeing up the handmade chocolates, so know where to go for birthday treats for the girls! If you can get over the disappointment of it not being a farm shop and take it for what it is, a country café and tea room, you will not be disappointed! We will visit many times again, for tea and cake, but sadly, not for sausages and bacon!!

It's really a hidden gem and worth a visit if you are looking for homemade cakes and cream tea. We had a slice of cake, fruit scones and a few wholemeal sausage rolls. Honestly the best scones, gateau and sausage rolls I've ever had. Melt in your mouth pastry with a nice peppery sausagemeat. Soft homemade scones and the cake was up there with the ones we have at the German inlaws. Was a busy lunchtime and the staff suggested reservations as they tend to always fill up. Offered a booster seat and highchair to my toddler and were so polite to her (even though she was a bit messy with her flaky pastry snack). Planning another visit soon as the haddock chowder and pies looked very tasty.

The cream teas are magnificent: the scones come out warm and there are perfect servings of clotted cream and jam. You can have the choice of plain scones or fruited. We went for the fruited. The tea is served in small pots and the cups are bone china. Most civilised! You have a choice of teas: the are four types of Earl Grey! The wife went for the Imperial; I had bog standard Assam. But I must say the Assam had a very subtle mint aftertaste. Lovely! I've been there twice and I've only had the cream teas because they are so lovely. Looking at the food display cabinet is wonderful: chocolates that look handmade, tiffin and an assortment of cakes. But its not just tea and cakes: I see they are doing handmade pies. The pasty looks wonderful! Too many superlatives for now! Not sure how long it will take for me to make my way onto the other foodstuffs. Could be some time!

As said in another review, this is not a farm shop and should not be advertised or promoted as such as it is misleading. It is a cafe, selling coffee, tea and cakes. There are a few deli items such as cheese, a few pies and chutneys. But where is the local veg, where is the local meat, sausages? We made a special trip for local produce and we were very disappointed. We didn't stay as whilst it looked a nice enough cafe, with pleasant enough surroundings, we wanted a farm shop, not a cafe. Change your name, please.... it's misleading and unfair to prospective customers.

We came upon Britford Farm Shop while on our way back through Salisbury to Dorset. I am so glad we decided to stop by on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. We had a deliciously fresh afternoon tea, scones were warm, fruity and light; all served with lovely jam and an abundance of fresh clotted cream. Tea came in a lovely tea pot, no stainless steel leaky ones here. Very pleasant and happy staff, Robert was a delight and so friendly. We will without a doubt be back. This place gives Fortnum and Mason' of London a run for their money, standard is far superior.

Britford Farm is just 2 mins by car outside Salisbury centre or a great 25 minute walk through some of the classic 'John Constable' English countrywide. It is as much a restaurant and coffee/cake shop as a farm shop and the food for a family reunion yesterday was really good and at £6-7 per head was great value. There was a range of salads with duck, pies, salmon etc as well as a vegetarian option as a beetroot, tomato & brie soup of the day which was outstanding. There is also a chocolate bar (with some of the best Belgium chocolates in town) as well as a homemade ice cream section - of which the owner, Robert Lewis, is justly proud. It is a small'ish venue with perhaps 25 seats inside but has a fabulous orchard with tables and umbrellas overlooking Salisbury cathedral.

Won’t be back - coffee ok but woeful miserable staff. A smile, a bit of engagement, even eye contact makes a difference - you want to feel welcome rather than an intruder. Surely when money is tight places realise they might have to go that bit extra to encourage people to go back.

Website showed great promise. Kerbside appeal good, car parking good, service very good ( very helpful and friendly). Strange layout inside as its old building, dining room has no bar. Garden not used to its full potential, only very old tired play equipment for children. Food reasonable, 2 out of 3 meals okay. Third meal of chicken disappointing, either poor quality meat or overcooked or possibly both !!!!! Empty on a nice sunny lunchtime !!! Sorry but would not rush back.
