Britannia in Kensington and Chelsea

The Sunday lamb roast was, cold and tough. Yorkshire pudding stale, potatoes several days old and had a HAIR COOKED INTO IT. I’ve only been once and I don’t see myself going back any time soon. If I do I won’t be eating that’s for sure. Sasha the bartender was as kind and good at her job.

Great pub for grabbing a bite or getting a drink. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Especially Raj, who gave some great recommendations.

Call about 40 minutes beforehand and asked if they could take 14 women in a Tour group. No problem we showed up the food was excellent. The service was fabulous and everyone had a great time. You have to order the fish and chips. They were absolutely the best. Highly recommend.

We were so excited to find this pub as we live in the area and were looking for a pub that was a bit ”nicer“ and the menu offering better compared to other pubs in the area. We went there today and invited two friends along to join us in this what we thought would be a discovery. To cut a long story short. For the prices they charge the food was very average Tesco warmed up in the oven kind of overpriced pub food. One of our friends had ordered the pie which came with charred cabbage. Turned out that the cabbage was mouldy at the end bit. You could literally see the blue mould. She had been saying throughout the meal that the cabbage tasted funny until mwe discovered the mould. We returned the dish but instead of a customer service oriented staff we were only given grief. The lady serving us offered one free desert as compensation but had a sour, rude and unapologetic attitude during the entire time. Later on we were berated by another staff member, apparently the manager, asking us for a photo she thought we had to prove that the cabbage had mould on the end and questioned our complaint after having spent around 160£ for the lunch. We still went ahead and ordered deserts since only my friend was going to have one on the house. I had the banana tart tartin. It was served cold and we wondered if it was a retaliation to our complaint and my friend who had the mouldy cabbage almost didn’t want to eat her free desert as she thought the staff might had spat into the desert because of the rudeness of the staff. This was definitely our first and last time at this pub.

The Britannia is a true gem in the heart of Kensington. The atmosphere is cosy, welcoming, and feels like a second home. They offer a fantastic selection of wines, but what truly sets this place apart is the staff. Raj, in particular, went out of his way to recommend the Conde Valdemar Rioja Reserva after noticing I often enjoyed The Chocolate Block. The recommendation was spot on – the wine tastes excellent. Thank you for the outstanding service!

Visiting London stopped in the Britannia for dinner on our first night. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, the food delicious. The fish and chips were especially good as was the burger!

This is an amazing pub we went to just a short walk from our hotel in Kensington. The staff is friendly and attentive. We had the Sunday Roast and it was so yummy and the creme brulee to die for. We highly suggest a visit.

I’ve been selected for job interviews as sous chef for Sunday… on day of interviews I received text from Monica saying…. Today head chef is off can you do it tomorrow at 11.00. Sure I replay. Next day I went for interview, only see a guy who didn’t know what is going on? And clearly didn’t know what I’m doing there. He asked for my mobile number. I contacted Monica via whats app asking how I went on interview…..I sent few messages. 2 weeks after I have mail saying I’m unsuccessful!!! Questions is how can you deny someone who wasn’t interviewed?

I visited the pub on my wife's birthday, we really enjoyed the beers and specially fish and chips. The enjoyed the service by Raj. Recommended to visit the pub.

Last night, I popped into that pub and I must say, it was absolutely brilliant. The service was top-notch—friendly and quick by two beautiful ladies—and the food? Simply delicious. Proper good evening out, I’d highly recommend it!

Showed up without booking ahead and Olexandra was super accommodating and found us a lovely spot to enjoy their Sunday beef roast with my wife while on holiday in London. This place is a must visit if you are in Kensington. I don't feel bad letting the secret out now that I have had a chance to visit. Tell them I sent you.

I’ve been to Britannia multiple times, but experience today was really not great. The male server was very rude and had a very “I don’t care” attitude. It’s quite disappointing. I think I won’t be coming to this place anymore.

A great place for a relaxed drink. The fireplace seats are really cozy, and the playlist is great. The staff member Raj was sweet and very helpful navigating the menu.

Pleasant little pub amongst the mews off Kensington High Street. Although it's possible to pop in for a beer it's food orientated, so if its evening and you're not eating, be prepared to stand. Good for a quick pint as I was staying nearby.

The atmosphere was really cozy. The drinks, food and service (from the non-British waitress) was great but a few things left a bad taste in our mouth. The bartender was passive aggressive and grumpy. When asked for the bill he put the card machine in front of me without showing me the amount or the bill. When I asked for the physical bill (to calculate the tip I would have left for the staff due to the great attitude of the waitress) he slammed the card machine on the bar and went to get the physical bill. As a person who works in hospitality I understand we can all have a bad day but this behaviour is unwarranted and unacceptable. This is a matter of basic customer service.

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience, the sea bream was dry, over cooked and pretty unpalatable. The belly of pork was pretty tough however the burger and gluten free fish and chips was much better. One member of our party was black pepper intolerant and unbelievably they couldn’t provide any vegetables that didn’t contain black pepper presumably as the chef was unwilling to cook it from scratch. It was a pretty busy Sunday lunch and the staff appeared under pressure.

I absolutely enjoy not too over crowded places on a Saturday night. This is such a sweet pub just across the church. Lovely xmas decor. The service could be better. We ordered few rounds of the same drink and it came out in various versions 😂 the service often confused and running around plates they don’t know where it belongs to. I would still come back, recommend

After a few hitches, this pub is back on track. The food was really good (menu changes regularly), large portions and prices are fair. The pub itself is attractive inside and out.

Great evening ! We had been looking for a quiet pub for a nice fish and chips to end a Sunday going around London. The Britannia was perfect. The fish was cooked perfectly and the chips were amazing. The curry sauce was a nice touch, original and full of flavours. The apple and plum crumble with custard was warm and wonderfully tasty. Bravo to the chefs Gregg and Mariyuz. In addition, the staff was extremely nice and efficient, we were served quickly, which was good ,as we were starving. Among the staff, Raj was very friendly and really made us want to come back. I know my Dad will insist on coming back next time he is in London !

I’m a foodie, this place will give me nightmares. I would say that the food was flavourless, however, The only flavour I could get was disgust. I have never had food quite as foul as this. The French onion soup was not a soup but a bowl of onions with no flavour, The ox cheek croquettes were Abysmal, They should not be on the menu if the cook doesn’t know how to make them properly. As for the side dish of pigs in duvet, Quite clearly are slices of sausage in a bowl of oil. I would never suggest this place to anyone. Minutes after leaving, My partner was sick. Do not go to this “restaurant”.

Brilliant pub, just off the main high street and perfect for a quiet pint. My favourite meeting location in West London.

Our favorite dish is fish and chips and we were very satisfied with the food AND the service. The food melted in our mouths and someone was nearby to meet our needs any time we needed. At our request they even made sure we kept a supply of still water the whole meal. Wonderful evening with friends.

I needed a space to work remotely in the area for an evening and I was more than surprised by the little gem the Britannia is! I was expecting a regular Kensington pub instead I was suddenly in a very cosy place, with a live fire on and extremely friendly and helpful staff who were taking time for new and regular guests equally and with care. I also was amazed by the soup! The clientele of locals and visitors alike were all respectful, polite and enjoying themselves as the pub itself and its staff set the tone. A complete opposite in comparison to the atmosphere of other pubs in the area. Looking forward to visiting again soon and to show it off to friends.

Nice atmosphere but mad price for terribly small portions, shameless to serve this

My wife was directed to this place by a florist at High Street Kensington. She loves fish and chips and was so impressed by the quality and quantity of the portion that she brought me here. She is enjoying her fish and chips but unfortunately they ran out of beef steaks which is a shame because I wanted to have exactly this. If we come again maybe they will have beef steaks. We also liked the Estrella beer.

The service is bad and staff so indifferent. The blond lady at the bar/service was border line rude and smileless. They made the order wrong and refused to change the drinks. Very bad experience - such a shame as it is a beautiful place.
