Brightside Roadside Dining Saltash in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Very friendly staff, but after waiting a decent amount of time for our breakfasts even though we were the first people in there all our portion sizes were tiny for the money. The chef clearly doesn't know how long to poach an egg! Lol... Both mine and my husbands poached eggs were over done, so totally hard boiled! The coffee isn't the best either for the money. The positives though were that the sourdough bread was nice and the potato was nice. We are local and won't be going back there again unfortunately 😔

I popped in here whilst charging the car up next door, the staff were very busy but were very welcoming and helpful. I had the early riser breakfast which was also spot on. I am more than happy to come back, thank you 😊

Well what can I say I do miss the old restaurant that use to be in this building but wow what a change. I run restaurants as a deputy manager for a large chain and this play is lovely I would 100% visit again. It was very quiet when we arrived late afternoon but Lucia I think that was the young lady’s name that looked after us a little trimmed but went that extra mile too look after us. You could see this was he first rodeo as a FOH waitress but you carry on the way you are going and you will go far within any business such a polite and professional young lass thank you again.

Two of us visited on a Friday evening. Its certainly different from Route 38, much more spacious, better lay out too, tables to take large and small bookings. Friendly greeting, and we chose a table in the section at the rear, looking out over their patio. Tables are a good size ie plenty of room for drinks, plates, etc. (no squashing everything together, like some places), seating is comfortable. We selected a vegan burger and a cheeseburger both served with your choice of French fries or waffle fries or sweet potato fries. Had a couple of sides too. Have to say...couldn't fault anything at all. Food was hot and tasty, sides were well portioned, plates had been warmed, service was very friendly. Could see partly into the kitchen and the bit I could see was spotless. Toilets were immaculate too. Music was playing, not blaring, in the background. Disabled access too. Wasn't too busy, but looking at other restaurants in the same boat, perhaps it's that post Christmas 'spent out' time of year. Whatever it is, we will happily be eating there again. Well done.

Terrible... loud music, awful food called a breakfast but not a traditional English breakfast in the heart of Cornwall. Smoked streaky bacon looked like it had just been carved from the pig and browned, black square rostis, 3 tiny cherry tomatoes, 1 small overcooked mushroom, 1 cocktail sausage for £12. Manager condescending and waitress aloof!! Shocking and very disappointed.

This was our second visit to Brightside, Saltash. It was a really stormy day and we wanted somewhere warm and comfortable to while away a few hours before returning home. We live locally, so the restaurant is very convenient. My partner and I were greeted by the manager, Rachel, who remembered us from before and even the booth where we sat previously! We were really impressed by how friendly and helpful all the staff were and we were made to feel very welcome. We both had a lovely brunch with poached eggs on sourdough toast with avocado and haloumi. The decor is retro and makes for interesting surroundings- love the restrooms! Very Twin Peaks. It was New Year’s Day, so there were several large parties of people and a great soundtrack playing in the background, which all added to the lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended and we plan to return soon for an evening meal. Great place to meet friends for coffee or cocktails if you don’t want the food.

We walked into the restaurant and directed towards the bar area to wait and told someone would be with us shortly. Each time she walked past us we were told someone would be with us shortly. There were loads of empty seats as it was only half full. As two elderly people we needed a seat and not to be told to wait. Five times we were told that someone would be with us shortly. We had been standing waiting for almost ten minutes. There were others who were standing behind us waiting as well. By this time my husband had had enough and needed to sit down so I approached the lady (think she was a senior/manager level) who I spoke to and said we were leaving because we couldn't wait any longer to be seated an her only reply was "enjoy your day". We are local so will tell folks of our experience and will not be going back.

We were visiting Family Members nearby for Christmas. Their Friends had arranged a lunch gathering at a different venue and we were seeking a place to get some brunch or lunch. We checked a number of local possibilities being somewhat suspicious of Facebook and Website details of their Christmas opening times. Eventually we selected a place that we knew others had visited and had enjoyed and set off to visit it. Despite their published information the restaurant was closed - indeed, the Car Park was closed off. Brightside was a short distance and they were clearly open with lights shining and plenty of cars in the large car park. We drove up and found a suitable parking spot close to the entrance on a damp and windy morning. Entering we found signs directing us to the Bar Area in order to get service. We were very warmly welcomed and shown to a table. Having given us menus we were promised a return shortly to take our drinks’ order. That was, indeed, the case and we ordered a decaffeinated latte and a pot of tea. Soon after the lady arrived to take our food order. We ordered the Champion Breakfast, which looked intriguing, but asked for them without baked beans. We each had a side order of Black pudding. The food arrived promptly and was extremely tasty. Ingredients such as the sausage, bacon, chorizo, onions, potatoes and more was very flavoursome and had some variety of texture and size that made them a real pleasure to eat. They were topped by two freshly fried eggs. Having enjoyed the savoury dish and our drinks we were tempted by the mince-pie sundaes and ordered 2 of those. Again they arrived promptly and looked both impressive and tempting and proved to be both. They incorporated a mini mince-pie and a generous amount of melted caramel as well as the cream and ice-cream. We had a further round of hot drinks. The Bill amounted to just over £52 which was very good value in our view. The decor was “Diner” oriented and the place was immaculately clean. All the staff members were friendly and cheerful and it was a really enjoyable experience. The whole restaurant was extremely clean and tidy. All the Staff Members were friendly and cheerful and actually looked as though they wanted to look after us well. We eat at a wide range of restaurants and cafes and have no hesitation in recommending it as a very good place to eat. They catered for food intolerances and vegetarian options. The Menu included seasonal specials and there were even non-alcoholic cocktails as well as a full bar from 10am. It is Family friendly and was an unexpectedly good choice.

Went here for breakfast on 16/12/23 and ordered the Big Breakfast. When our food arrived I was given what looked like a couple of handfuls of kitchen leftovers mixed in a bowl. I queried with the waitress and the manager hurried over and stated that was what I ordered because it was on 'the pad' She insisted that I had ordered the 'champian breakfast' too tired to argue with her I thought I'd just eat what I was mistakenly given but it was horrible, a dog's dinner of bacon rinds, cold baked beans and small lumps of hard chorizo all mixed, most unpleasant. The manager might have saved a few pounds by insisting I ordered a meal which I did not but it was a false economy because we live locally and would have been regular customers, but now we won't be going there again. Maybe if the music wasn't so deafening the waitress could hear what customers were ordering.

The granola bowl was far too small, it had a spoonful of yoghurt, granola , compote and 3 blueberries! It was smaller than a childs portion and cost £6:95. I will not be having that again as value for money was disgusting 😒

Visited for lunch. Had all day breakfasts and it was amazing. Really lovely breakfast! The sourdough bread was lovely along with everything else. Service was fab. Everyone was so accommodating. Lovely to have this restraint close by. Will be visiting again soon!
